Come on I can't be the ONLY one!!! I got my BFP this morning - I think I'm due around the 12th March...

No real symptoms yet other than slightly weary this afternoon, and quite bad backache.

Not too hopeful JUST yet as very early days and had a m/c last year. Already have a DD (2.5)

Don't leave me here on my own too long!!

dinny · 03/07/2008 13:52

hi, all, had my bloods done this morning to test for slapped cheek ( my dd has just had it and it can be dangerous in pg)

am really paranoid don't feel any different really - I mean, maybe boobs are a tiny bit bigger/sorer, but nothing more than that

really worried, hope all is Ok - dr wants me to go for an early scan too because of possible exposure to the virus

congrats all, btw

auntyspan · 03/07/2008 14:37

sorry you're having a worrying time dinny, finger's crossed it's all OK. When are you having your scan?

hello, FF, oooh, maybe am going to get lucky this time round, that's be nice!!! was so ill with ds especially (2nd preg)

lol at cheesecake

you've cheered me up, thank you!

fififlores · 03/07/2008 22:34

I have got indigestion, same as my first pg. Not too tired yet, thankfully, as I have to work at night (ie now) after DS in bed!! I am being sent off for all kinds of tests, including Coombs and O´Sullivan, v early but as we´re going away for 2 months (will have to have 12-week scan while in UK), guess they want to cover themselves. The whole amnio idea was mentioned today by the midwife (I´m 39). Scary. Not sure what to do.

fififlores · 03/07/2008 22:35

does anyone know anything about the nuchal fold scan, triple blood test etc - how reliable they are?

Playingthe9monthwait · 04/07/2008 10:16

Morning all, we've made the homepage this morning! Sorry I know nothing about scans or even pg, this is all new to me!

dc3duemarch09 · 04/07/2008 10:40

Hi all,

Just done my secon pg test this morning and its a BFP

Not yet sure of my due date as the pregnacy is unplanned , in fact im not atall sure about the exact date of my last period. I think it was around the 29th of may but it was only really light so i could be further along.

DH is over the moon, im not sure how i feel yet, other than constantly sick LOL .

Im off to see GP later, does anyone know how many weeks you need to be for the pregnacy to felt with an abdominal examination?

Playingthe9monthwait · 04/07/2008 10:48

Morning dc3, Congratulations on your BFP even if its a shock! I did another test today and got a BFP again, don't think I'll ever tire of seeing that! Sorry I can't answer your question I have no idea about anything to do with pg!

pinktree · 04/07/2008 11:55

Hello am I a moron but was does BFP mean??

I'm very new to this

I've just found out I'm pregnant with second child due around 4th March so very early days for me too. So excited!
We've been trying for nearly a year of and on.

MKG · 04/07/2008 12:12

Congrats dc3 and pink tree,

bfp + Big Fat Positive

I don't think they would be able to feel from an abdominal exam at this point, but would be able to estimate from an internal now.

I made my appointment with my midwife and I'm going on July 29th. Fun exciting, I can't wait to get my 19 viles of blood drawn so they can tell me I'm perfectly healthy.

Playingthe9monthwait · 04/07/2008 12:19

Congratulations Pinktree.

You've made your appointment already MKG! Maybe I should phone the doctors then! I have no idea how it works here, if I have to see the gp first or if I can book in straight away with the midwife. Can you tell I'm a hopeless first timer!

MKG · 04/07/2008 12:29

Don't worry. I don't know how it works over there because we don't go to GPs unless we're sick. And if we don't get appointments in early, they run out of them pretty fast.

Is anyone telling anybody yet? I told my sil, work, and a random guy I went to high school with yesterday. I am scared to death of telling my mother though

dc3duemarch09 · 04/07/2008 13:29

9monthwait,

Services vary from area to area in the UK, normally you would have a booking in appointment with the community midwife at around 10 week IIRC.

MKG,

I dreading telling my Mum, shes of the opinion that 2's enough and to be honest so was i until yesterday LOL .

Playingthe9monthwait · 04/07/2008 13:56

I've told my sister and DH told a couple of mates who knew we were trying. Have no idea when to tell other people. I am actually desperate to tell my Mum (First Grandchild and all) but am worried its too early.

MKG · 04/07/2008 14:17

Playing,

don't worry about when it's too early or not. My philosophy is "The earlier the better" for two reasons, 1) more people will understand if you're not feeling well etc. and 2) if there is a miscarriage there will be more people there to support you.

I found out I was pregnant in Jan and literally started to miscarry about 3 hours later. The midwife told me that I felt about six weeks, but they couldn't see anything on an ultrasound, but if I was less than 6 weeks that could be totally normal. Anyway told a lot of friends and my inlaws (who are more like sisters that sils) and they were there to support me. It took a week for them to determine it was definitely a miscarriage and I was so grateful not to go through it alone.

Maybe my mother won't notice.

dinny · 04/07/2008 14:40

yes, I kind of feel like that too, MKG

oooh, lots of people joining thread - exciting!

I have got rather, ahem, sluggish bowels (sorry, tmi!) - distinctly remeber this frm when pg with dd. not so much with ds though.

Playingthe9monthwait · 04/07/2008 15:00

I know what you mean, I am certainly not one to wait for 12 weeks before telling. It just feels a bit like I am tempting fate . I know thats silly, nothing I say will change the possiblity of mc. Maybe I have just spent too much time on here that mc seems so common and I am finding it hard to believe that I will go to term and actually bring home a healthy baby. I keep feeling like I got pg too easily so something is bound to go wrong. Mind you telling people still wouldn't effect the outcome.

Thinking about it though I am going to have to tell my brother soon. He currently lives with is, so would notice if I started being sick. So maybe I should just tell Mum too but leave it at immediate family for now. Decisions, decisions.

Playingthe9monthwait · 04/07/2008 15:40

I've been brave and started a thread in pg section asking when people told their nearest and dearest and why they choose that particular stage. Might help me sort out my feelings!

ceedub · 04/07/2008 15:51

Hi Playing, last time I was pregnant, I told closest family and friends (about 8 people). I ended up having a miscarriage, and was grateful for the sympathy and support. This time around, I've told the same people. I wouldn't go telling everyone, just the people I'd turn to again if things went wrong.

Playingthe9monthwait · 04/07/2008 16:25

Thats along the lines I was thinking of Ceedub. Try to keep it a secret from those I wouldn't tell if I mc. I am finding it hard because I am a very open person and tbh I don't think I would want to hide a mc. I don't feel like a mc is something to be ashamed of, I think I would find it harder to hide that I was having one, although till I've been there I suppose I won't know what I will feel. My Mum has had a mc so she would def understand.

Work on the other hand can wait till after my first scan, unless I'm really ill.

dinny · 04/07/2008 16:49

I've just told those who I would tell if anything happened anyway...my mum/dad, sister, handful of friends

will wait till after 3 months for everyone else, work people as late as poss

ceedub · 04/07/2008 19:09

What's slightly bizarre is that we told more people about the mc than we did about the pregnancy itself! I've told mum, but we'll wait till we get the all-clear from the early scan before telling DP's parents (6-8 weeks, so not much longer to wait). Definitely agree to wait before telling people at work. Last thing anyone needs is people watching out for signs of sickness, 'pregnancy amnesia' or big tummy!

dorothywhipple · 04/07/2008 21:37

Hello March Mums, I was totally surprised and overjoyed to get a BFP yesterday! Happy happy happy, I've been waiting a while for this one. Like you all I feel torn between telling everyone and telling nobody at all - so I'm telling all of you! Nice to meet you by the way

LobstersLass · 04/07/2008 22:53

.

Got a BFP this morning. Very nervous as had an early miscarriage in April.

I'm just going to sit here for a couple of weeks and keep my fingers crossed.

I hope I get more symptoms this time to give me more confidence that the baby is going to stick. I've had the metallic taste in the mouth and the fatigue, but I had them last time too. Dammit I want to feel nauseous!!
