Come on I can't be the ONLY one!!! I got my BFP this morning - I think I'm due around the 12th March...

No real symptoms yet other than slightly weary this afternoon, and quite bad backache.

Not too hopeful JUST yet as very early days and had a m/c last year. Already have a DD (2.5)

Don't leave me here on my own too long!!

Morning All, ive not read all the recent posts so please excuse me if ive ignored anyone IM TO EXCITED to read LOL and one more !!!

IT'S MY SCAN TODAY!! appointments at 11.40 please keep your fingers crossed that my DH will make it back in time, the job he is on at the moment is mad busy and i only got the appointment letter this monday, so it's not given him much time to arrange cover .

I will get to find out my exact due date YAY!! as some of you may remember this pg was unplanned so i didnt have a clue of the date of my last period. I know im somewhere between 9 and 13 weeks. To be honest i think not knowing the EDD date has made it more difficult to get my head around, so im sure as soon as i know it will sink in better, not that havent had enough reminders like!!. I know im well and truely pg but even now it still seem so unreal, with girls i plotted my cycles and knew what my due date would be even before i got the BFP so i was more mentally prepaired.

Boobz · 30/07/2008 09:03

How exciting twocute -- I'm so jealous! I still have nearly 3 weeks before my scan, and have always been an impatient little miss! Will you be able to post pictures?

I hope your other half makes it there in time and that the bean is a healthy baked one..

I like you have no real idea how pregnant I am due to irregular periods and the like -- I am anywhere between 7 and 10 weeks. I think it's more likely to be 7 based on when we went on holiday and had lots of TTC! but it could have been before that, I just don't know.

Anyway, come and post on here when you're back from your scan to tell us all about it -- I think you are the first on the list to have a scan, is that right?

A

Morning all - after posting on Mon eve about feeling better the 9 minute train journey then did me in and was afraid I would be sick on train (sorry if TMI). Am struggling to find anything other than plain carbs that I can stomach. Yesterday was better - managed most of jacket pot with beans for lunch and some cottage pie from freezer for tea - I just can't face cooking anything, so it has to be stuff I've made and frozen or I struggle (especially as I can't eat wheat, so ready-made stuff is pretty much a no-no).
Thanks for your tips though Cals, will try some of them. Eating a cracker in the middle of the night is a good idea, as I was up comforting DS at about 1am and then dry wretching in the loo straight after - there's just no let up.
MMB - think it was you who has hyperemesis - soooo sorry to hear that, must be awful.
Right, hope you all have good days.

Starshinetiger · 30/07/2008 09:20

Sorry that post was all me, me, me. I did read all the catch up, but then forgot what everyone had said.
Twocute - good luck for scan! I don't even see midwife until I'm 9 weeks and I seem to recall last time having to wait some time for my scan, so am not holding out much hope of a scan before mid-september, but you never know.
Whoever said they're feeling better after 10 weeks - thanks for that optimistic thought, which I'm clinging on to as I am due to go on a hen weekend to Devon when I'm 10.5 weeks and currently very nervous at the thought of it. I seem to remember that last time for me, it abated at about 14 weeks and was gone at 16, but even that seems a long way off at the mo!
Ho hum, better get on with some work....

auntyspan · 30/07/2008 09:21

Morning ladies - twocute fingers crossed everything is good and you can finally have a due date! I'm seeing the m/w this morning which I'm looking forward to, and have a 'reassurance' scan on Tuesday next week. All very exciting.

Weighed myself this morning was please to see I've only put on 3lb which is great for me. Not 'going off' food at all, in fact the more I eat the less I feel sick (dammit!) but trying to snack on good stuff rather than crap.

I commute too and have found the travel sickness bands are brilliant - as those sour haribo sweets - how random - for keeping sickness at bay....

I think a new thread is in order - this one is full - what do we all think?

OP posts:
Boobz · 30/07/2008 09:28

If you start a new thread, will someone who's good at list get the old one and bring it over? I think there are a couple of joiners since our last list...

twocutedarlings · 30/07/2008 09:37

Thanks for your well wishes

dont threads hold upto a 1000 posts, think we are ok for the time being, but lets post lots so we can have a new shiny one soon

Playingthe9monthwait · 30/07/2008 10:14

Morning all, haven't posted for a while as I've been feeling pretty crap and tired and work has been so busy. Not feeling quite as bad today.

I am seeing the MW and having a scan today too. She is taking all my bloods today as when I booked in she said it was too early. The scan is a private one this evening, I crumbled, just too damn impatient to wait another 3-4 weeks. Its not that pricey and this is my first dc so I thought what the hell, I'm not drinking at the moment so the money I normally spend on booze can go towards the scan. I really can't wait to find out how pg I am, according to the wheel I am 9 weeks today but I know that can't be right as I tend to have longer cycles and am fairly certain I didn't ov before CD18. I also just want to know my little bean is still alive really and make sure there's only one in there! I suppose there is also the irrational part of my brain that keeps telling me my last period was short and light so what if I am more pg then I think? I know thats not likely as we weren't actually ttcing then and we were relatively careful but still it would be nice to know for sure.

Welcome all the new members.

Monkey - sorry you are suffering so much, I hope it gets better.

Cal - I had remembered you advice when you posted it on our ttc thread and am using most of it as it does help.

Twocute - good luck with your scan.

Hi everyone else.

Boobz · 30/07/2008 10:20

Had been thinking about a private scan too Playing, as I feel the need to check the bean is still alive and got a heart beat etc. We're paying off credit cards this month and next though, so can't really justify it when I only have 19 days to go before scan, so am having to hold tight, but I am sorely tempted (my first too - think you knew that?)

Anyway, work is a killer for me too - am having the most stressfull 2 months of the year so far and has conincided with being preggers which is shite. I really want to tell my bosses to eff off and get another job but that doesn't really make sense given I need to be taking maternity leave at some point next year!

Playingthe9monthwait · 30/07/2008 10:28

That makes sense Boobz, we really should be doing that too! I think I would be more tempted to wait if I had a firm date for my scan but I don't. Apparently they don't even book the scan till you are "at least" 10 weeks and they do them between 11-13.5 weeks. So as I pursuaded the MW to put my dates back a couple of days (even though it probably needs to go back more) I will not have an apt date for over a week possibly 2 and could be waiting another 4 or so for the apt. It all seems so indefinate, so I was obviously feeling a bit rebellious on Monday when I booked it!

I also agree, work is getting mad at the moment. I work for a Toy manufacture and its already starting to gear up for Christmas. The busiest time of the year is August- November and I've got to do it all pg! Oh well, I'll just have to cope.

Boobz · 30/07/2008 10:49

I work for a load of American wankers (online gambling website) who never praise you when something goes right but look to blame you and use you as the scapegoat when something goes wrong. Am finding it difficult to manage right now as I solely responsible for the UK and Ireland and it's all getting a bit much. Think toast is in order to calm me down.

MavisGrind · 30/07/2008 10:52

Hello all, just quickly passing through.

good luck to those with scans today - I haven't even been to the docs yet! Still feeling pretty rubbish here but I keep telling myself ms is a good sign.

Can't believe we've nearly used up our first thread and some of us aren't even 7 weeks yet!!

Have a good day all.

Playingthe9monthwait · 30/07/2008 11:08

I know what you mean about too much responsibilty. We are quite a large French based company but here in the UK we are a tiny UK sales office. There are 4 of us in the office and we turn over about £6-7 million, which is a hell of a lot of work for 4 of us! I do all marketing, advertising, trade show organisation and attendence, sales support, write all quotations, organise samples etc etc. Its basically a constant juggling act with tons of competing priorities and deadlines. I am just waiting for me to screw up something major because I am spending most of my time feeling crap, walking round like a zombie and rapidly loosing brain cells. I am living in constant fear of doing something awful and getting into serious trouble!

Boobz · 30/07/2008 12:09

I work in marketing and advertising as well - am basically responsible for all the UK marketing and affiliate activities for the world's second biggest online poker site and a promotion we are running isn't hitting targets and I am in the firing line. Could really do without it right now, and not sure how to make sure I don't end up out on my arse with a bun in the over! Ugh.

Boobz · 30/07/2008 12:17

I mean oven, of course.

MKG · 30/07/2008 13:34

Good morning. I'm fasting and can't eat anything until my blood is drawn at 11am. So I'm dying right now. I just want applejuice, an egg, something . . . NO just water and ice. I don't know why I'm fasting for this one, I never had to do it before.

I hope everyone's scan are great. I can't wait for the next four weeks to pass.

Playingthe9monthwait · 30/07/2008 13:46

Boobz - have you told work you are pg? It might be worth it as you actually have more rights when pg, you are harder to fire!

MKG - I really don't envy your fasting! I've just had my bloods done. They were running 30 mins late and had to fit in a small hot waiting room, thought I was going to throw up on the MW. Luckily I only live 5 mins from the hospital so made it home to be ill, still it was a close call and a horrid experience!

twocutedarlings · 30/07/2008 14:20

Good afternoon girls,

Well ive been for my scan and all is well!!, it was very quick but i got a very clear imaige for a few seconds at least, there has been a small bleed into the sack, but this is all very normal, however it may mean that i will have a small bleed at some point or it could just be absorbed into the sack. Im actually 10 weeks meaning that my EDD is the 25/02/09, so im not actually due in March 09 anymore. Im not sure if i should leave this thread and join the Feb one?? I like this one so i will lurk on the other and maybe post on both .

MKG · 30/07/2008 14:26

Yeah 2cute. Is it a subchorionic hemorrhage? If it is don't worry. I had one with ds2 and it cleared up on it's own. The advice was "Baby your baby's house"

calsworld · 30/07/2008 14:27

Playing / Boobz, I know you can't do anything about workload etc at this stage, but do you know about taking omega oils during pregnancy to help prevent 'pregnancy brain'?

I asked about 'pregnancy brain' when at MW first time round, and she said (knowing I'd already read ridiculous amounts about pregnancy on the internet), "read up on omega". I found an article that said that when the baby is developing its brain and eyes, which is basically all the way through pregnancy and through childhood, it needs certain fatty acids to do it. So, it takes them from the mum, just like with all other of baby's requirements. Unfortunately for mum, if you're not getting enough in your diet (which most of us don't) the baby strips yours and the only place we store it is in our brain....(www.equazen.com/default.aspx?pid=33 read this)

Which is why "mumomega" exists - its quite expensive because its refined oils that don't contain any vitamin a but I thought it was well worth it and am taking it this time round. DH always knew if I'd been off the tablets for a while!

You can get them from Boots but I've just ordered some on-line as they were reduced - they've not arrived yet ([hnmm]) but when they do I'll post the link.

If you breastfeed its worth continuing to take them afterwards too as the baby continues to benefit here

I appreciate that the sources I've quoted are from the manufacturers, therefore not necessarily to be taken as gospel, but I can say that taking them did make me much less scatty, forgetful, dizzy or whatever words you choose to describe the effects of 'pregnancy brain'!

MKG · 30/07/2008 14:28

You can stay here, the baby will still be a pisces. I wonder if MN should start antenatal threads by horoscope signs.

Someone feed me please!!

calsworld · 30/07/2008 14:29

x posted 2 cute - congrats on your scan! Chances are you'll be late anyway so I vote you stay here ............. well, any argument to stop you from leaving!!

Playingthe9monthwait · 30/07/2008 14:35

Glad your scan went ok twocute of course you should stay.

Cal - already taking fish oils! Taking the Santagen Pro Natal with Omega 3 tabs. Not quite sure what my excuse for pg brain is then! Thinks it probably moer to do with being tired and feelign sick

calsworld · 30/07/2008 14:36

Just found another more link;

here

This one highlights the importance of choosing an omega supplement that is suitable for pregnancy. I think its because it needs to filter our pollutants and Vit A.

calsworld · 30/07/2008 14:39

Oh Playing! Oops - clearly no hope for you then Maybe your own reserves were low before you got pregnant

MKG - sorry you're having to fast, how long have you got left to go? I like the phrase, baby your baby house - I loved 'growing' DS and have been really looking forward to being pregnant again.

Ooooh I feel all excited again like when I got my BFP!
