auntyspan · 27/06/2008 22:12

Come on I can't be the ONLY one!!! I got my BFP this morning - I think I'm due around the 12th March...

No real symptoms yet other than slightly weary this afternoon, and quite bad backache.

Not too hopeful JUST yet as very early days and had a m/c last year. Already have a DD (2.5)

Don't leave me here on my own too long!!

Hey girls - back from festival and catching up with everything.

Festival was a bit of a wash out what with not being able to drink and smoke and generally join in the fun (was in bed by 11 every night!)

Still thinking I'm not pregnant any more -- can't wait for some symptoms to kick in, and my scan on the 18th. So long to wait!

woollyjo · 27/07/2008 19:55

Great I've been waiting for this thread!

Only a tiny bit pregnant (5weeks +) having m/ced last time, due 27th ish, keeping everything crossed - well, clearly not quite everything. This'll be number 2 for us not sure what we are letting ourselves in for!

calsworld · 27/07/2008 21:20

Evening Woollyjo and welcome, I've been playing around with dates today and have come up with similar dates to you - I'm going to move my EDD back from 21st to 26th due to late ovulation. I can't wait to have my scan and get timing confirmed but I don't even book in with the MW for another three weeks, normally that would seem like no time away but for now it seems ages!

I'm dying to publicly announce it but its too early for that yet too! I really thought it would be easier second time around but I feel just as impatient as last time . I expect things will be easier once I get past the 12 weeks milestone.

How hot has it been today? I set up DS paddling pool in the garden and couldn't muster the energy to go and get a swimming cozzy on so whipped off my skirt and dived in wearing my t-shirt and undies! Brilliant! DS was very amused and kept saying "uh oh"!

Got the fans set up in DS room and in the lounge at the moment and we'll move it upstairs when we go to bed.

auntyspan · 27/07/2008 21:41

Evening Ladies!

thought I'd check in before I toddled off to bed. Hasn't it been warm?!

barbie fingers crossed your scan is OK - i have had very similar sharp sensations around my belly button with both my pregnancies. Feels like being pulled very sharply? Hope you're OK tomorrow and do let us know how the scan goes.

I put my DD (2.5) in bed tonight in a t-shirt and a nappy. She's not been out of a cot long and is still prone to wandering around the room attention seeking. Anyway she started shouting about an hour ago and she was sitting in bed looking VERY pleased with herself holding up her nappy!! I tried to be cross but kept smiling... and then she said, "it's a little bit funny isn't it mummy?"

I think it's going to be a LONG night!

So I have told my Dad via Skype about being pregnant today (he lives in Houston, Texas) and was already on the Sunday afternoon poolside gin and tonics and just about broke the computer jumping up and down! I know it's early, but I couldn't help myself...

Now have to tell mum and bro and then keep it a secret from everyone else for the next 3 weeks until the scan.

Off to bed now - night all.

Starshinetiger · 28/07/2008 11:55

Morning all. Been away for weekend at friends then at inlaws on way back yesterday.
Sorry to hear about your scares Barbie, Dawn and Emma, but it does sound like you're getting reassuring advice.
Right, MS has hit with avengance, so who can offer me tips for coping? Saturday was not too bad - felt sick in morning, but after McD's chips felt fine in afternoon. Yesterday back with avengance - just nausea all day and then dry wretching in evening (sorry if TMI). At work, feeling rotten - can only stomach dry toast, dry cornflakes and dry oatcakes (so far today, eaten two slices of toast, handful of cornflakes and half an oatcake - so all good on the diet front !)
If anyone can recommend anything I'll be soooo grateful. Yesterday I managed two half hour naps on sofas at PIL but no sign of a nap today. I know I'm whinging, but I neeeeeed to feel better - DH is doing everything at home for DS and as it's his first day back at work after his knee op, that isn't great!
On the finding out front, I'm pretty definite I'm going to find out at 20 week scan - didn't last time out of choice, but this time (especially as I currently am sure this will be last pg - I never voluntarily want to feel like this again) as I'd really like a girl (although a DB for DS would be lovely too), i want to know to prepare myself.
Right, long waffly post, had better get on with some work.... Bleurgh!

twocutedarlings · 28/07/2008 11:56

Good Morning Girls

Hope your all well!!

I just opened the mail and have my appointment for my scan it THIS wednesday im thrilled to bits, i was expecting to have to wait ages.

MollieMooma · 28/07/2008 12:16

Starshinetiger I've not posted for ages mainly due to really bad MS, went to docs last week and she gave me some medication but I really didn't want to take it, so I tried the travel sickness bands and they work brilliantly for me. It's been a bit difficult explaining why I'm wearing them to people at work but I've just said that it's for migraines, I don't really care if they don't believe me as at least I feel human again!
I'm trying to catch up with all the threads but you lot talk so much
Really sorry to see we've lost people already, and I really hope they are all OK, also all the people having scares, fingers crossed it will all work out x

Starshinetiger · 28/07/2008 12:29

Thanks so much Mollie - I think I've got some of them at home, so they'll be going on straight away this evening! Sorry to hear you've got it so bad.

MKG · 28/07/2008 12:37

Good morning everyone!

Barbie--I hope your scan goes ok today.

Welcome to DawnAS and Woolyjo.

Life here is normal. I'm hungry all the time, but other than that I'm coping. I keep wondering if what life is going to be like with three. I wonder if I'll handle it. I guess if I could go from 1 to 2, than 2 to 3 won't be so bad. Still very worrysome.

twocutedarlings · 28/07/2008 12:56

Same worries here MKG, im a little worried to say the least, i havent got a clue how ill manage the school run its hard enough with just the two. I rarely find to feed myself before the run!! so how am i ment to feed a baby LOL ............well no turning back, we will find out soon enough

HopingCat · 28/07/2008 13:04

Hi all. After worrying loads last week about my disappearing symptoms, they all came back yesterday. So I'm now feeling sick and trying not to complain about it as I can't have it both ways!

Starshine - ginger (in any form but biscuits is easiest) and travel sickness bands are the 2 things that work for my MS - and eating every couple of hours helps as I feel worst when stomach is starting to feel empty.

HC

MKG · 28/07/2008 13:29

I couldn't imagine taking the kids to and from school everyday.

livismum · 28/07/2008 13:32

AHHHHHHHHH Sorry guys just need to vent a bit!

had the damn sickness bug and up all fri night,so so tired on sat but DH Bday so had to be up and about, and he has toothache and hasnt slept for days and its like its a bloody competition who deserves to be resting! he is def winning on that front! DD is being good but i am sooooo tired worked yest and working later dont know how i'll get through it.

whats worse is that no one knows im pg i want to scream for some help, its so damn exhausting growing a baby at the best of time let alone when uv been ill!

sorry but feel better for venting! xx

barbie1 · 28/07/2008 14:01

well im back, had my early scan today, the good news is that that was a tiny sac, am 3 weeks preggers according to the scan and due date is 30th march....however blood counts are low so i had them taken today to see if they had gone up since fri...fingers crossed. If not it means the baby didnt make it passed three weeks. the pain i have been having is due to a big cyst! least its not ectopic which was my main worry. I have a mid wife appointment now and hopefully answers about the blood with be resolved by the end of the day....thinking of you all, hope everyone is well today.....ps im jealous of your morning sickness! im just not eating as food doenst appeal to me right now!!!!

SpookyMadMummy · 28/07/2008 14:15

Afternoon all!

Luckily no morning sickness here yet... I had it terrible in my first pregnancy and intermittent in the second.. I am in no hurry for it!

I seem to have gone off sweet things but I am loving apples at the moment!

I called the GP today and I am waiting for the midwife team to get back to me.

My immediate family now know, as does my best friend who thinks I am made of glass already I think she thinks I am now incapable of pushing a hoover around!! I wish!!!

Sunnydale · 28/07/2008 16:18

Hello All - hope I'm not too late to join the thread - am also due in March. No dating scan yet but 4th March is the due date according to LMP. Am convinced it's a BOY coz I've felt sick every day, whereas with DD I felt fine the whole nine months. Anyone else have thoughts on the theory than boys make you sicker, or is that just too boring a topic to post about? Looking forward to sharing the journey with everyone.

twocutedarlings · 28/07/2008 16:53

MKG - Now a school bus that would be FAB!! the worst of it is that DD1 goes to a school 4 miles away from home!! DD2 also go's to the nursery there so i actually do an 8 mile round trip 3 times a day LOL thankfully its the school hols at the moment so im enjoying a welcome break from it all .

Sorry youve been so ill livi tis crap this sickness bug i had it at the weekend and my DH has just come home from work early feeling crap!! he's gone straight to bed, bloody men!!! i had to carry on regardless LOL.

Barbie Im pleased it was good news at your scan, fingers crossed the bloods will come back ok, will you have to have anything done about the cyst?

Sunnydale Congrats & Welcome!! of corse your not to late LOL . Ive been feeling sick all the way through this time, i had a couple of days grace but now its back in full force!! i spoke to midwife about my sickness as i didnt have it this bad with the girls, she seems to think that it could be a boy and thats why its so bad. Not sure if thats was just her way of making me feel better though. To be honest everyone ive told about this pregnancy seems to think that i will really want a boy, but id really like another girl if im totally honest, i like PINK!!

auntyspan · 28/07/2008 16:54

barbie step in the right direction - at least no ectopic so fingers crossed your levels increase - when do you get the results?

had a much better day today - hardly any sickness (so far) hurrah!!

OP posts:
barbie1 · 28/07/2008 17:00

bloods did increase a little slowly but still in line with a 3 week pregnancy or 5 depends how you read it! been to midwife to so it all seems a step in the right direction....as for the cyst i have another scan in 2 weeks to check it hasnt grown and hopefully baby has. There isnt anything they can do for the cyst for the time being....happy morning sickness to you all!

Starshinetiger · 28/07/2008 17:44

Any ideas for tea? I'm feeling better than most of day and need to eat sth other than dry toast!

Elsy · 28/07/2008 20:04

So fed up with MS. The only way I keep mine manageable is by eating all the time - which is torture because I don't want ANYTHING! Having said that, it has got a little better this week (I'm 8w). Travel bands don't work for me but I'm never sure I've got them in the right place. I've got really skinny wrists and they move around or dig in really uncomfortably!

Starshine - I had chicken fajitas the other day for tea (made them quite plain with no chilli or pepper but lots of cheese and sour cream). It was the first meal I've enjoyed in 4 weeks!

calsworld · 29/07/2008 07:52

Elsy, the first time round I had very persistent MS, mexican meals were one of the few meals I actually looked at, wanted to eat, and really enjoyed! But always had to have piles of sour cream!

I've posted a list I came up with before of all the things that were suggested to me, some more helpful than others, and funnily enough often the least attractive sounding ones (like crackers first thing) were the most effective.

  • Eat little and often, and if you're worried about weight gain, try plain crackers. If struck first thing in the morning, keep a little container next to the bed and before you even get up, eat a cracker. I really wish I'd listened to this advice earlier on. And a plain cracker isn't as unattractive as it sounds. Rich tee are good too.
  • If you wake up in the night for a pee (who doesn't?) take the opportunity to eat another cracker! It will give your sugar levels a little boost and stop you feeling too bad first thing in the morning.
  • Try not to rush around too much first thing in the morning - and have a sustaining breakfast like porridge or shreddies.
  • Graze during the day, and try to avoid high sugar foods - high protein is the best for maintaining sugar levels without getting sudden surges and dips. Its the surges and dips that can really make MS worse.
  • If you look at food and think you can't eat it, try giving it a go anyway, shut your eyes if you have to!
  • High juice foods are good too - things that are moist when you eat them, like pineapple, tomato - you get the gist.
  • Seabands, they worked for me, I wore them to work.
  • Preggie pops, order them on line and sit and suck on them. The sour fruit flavoured ones are the best IMO. Other sour sweets, like starburst or the Haribo sours are quite good too apparently!
  • Any ginger product is good - such as ginger biscuits and ginger beer are although they didn't work for me.
  • Being tired will make it worse, so try to rest whenever possible
  • Carry emergency snacks in your handbag for when you're out and about. Towards the end I swapped my 'healthy' fruit and nut bars for Mars bars. Was in a meeting and lunch was being served late so excused myself for a 'natural break' and scoffed the mars bar in the loo . Fortunately I remembered to check there was no chocolate on teeth before returning to the meeting.

Hi Starshine, hope you found something for tea! Sorry you've got it bad too, next time you could try protein and carbs, like roast chicken and jacket potato with salad as the low grease content is less of a trigger, I've been a bit jacket potato and tomato crazy just recently!

My MW said the protein content also gave a long steady release of sugars rather than a quick hit, and its the quick hits you body can't cope with making you feel nauseous, although there are other 'reasons' given out there.

Also, I often found that when I looked at a plate of food the thought of eating it was much worse than the actual act, and once I'd got the first mouthful in, I could enjoy the rest...there were also occasions when that didn't happen - I will probably never eat another roasted vegetable quiche in my life - euuuggghhhhh - vomitous green face not envy!!

And on that note...morning everyone !
