Have been to ALL baby boutiques on my side of the river......BOUGHT NOTHING!!! Everything was WAY OVERPRICED!! For example: Jumpers (in each store) were $46US and they look just like the ones I've already bought from TJMaxx for $6US. WTF!! I did find muslin receiving blankets at my friends baby shop HOWEVER the lady working the store today did not even put down the phone to say hello.....she was chatting it up about how much my friend doesn't pay her. I'll be making a phone call of my own later....

It's a beautiful day but I'm a bit sad because we didn't travel south to a family members wedding. I'd have been miserable in the heat, chasing DD and having to be all smiles. I've even had trouble walking again today due to my sacrial plexus problem. OH WELL!!

Sibh see we all dump here so don't feel like you need to hold anything back.

Captain, with the mood I'm in.... I would have just pissed on their floor!! Very good control you have.

IlanaK, sorry about the scare but glad you're feeling better. There's quite alot of hospital bag information listed at the end of the last thread (the crop circle one).

Well I can now say I've official purchased something today for the baby. I just ordered online a pack of Aden+Anais muslin receiving blankets. DONE!! And without clerk issues!! Still don't have a new baby bag. Captain did you end up getting one today??

evening ladies

mum got rushed to hospital by amb last night so was up till 3am waiting on news. Up again this morning to pack bag and make a stroganoff for dh as decided dc and I would up sticks and move down to my aunts for the weekend

girls have been fantastic and are now sharing a double bed (very very sweet) but mammydixie not doing well at all so feeling a very down. Doc not convinced she'll get out of hosp this time at all and if she does it will be to a hospice or she'll need 24hr care at home - she's only 68

drove up from brothers to aunts house and dc fell asleep in the car - have carried them in and realised they are FAR TOO FARKING HEAVY FOR IT with me in the state I'm in so god knows what I'll do tomorrow evening going home, dh is on late shift.

anyway, have hi-jacked cousins laptop which is similar to mine but smaller in size for forgive any dodginess in post, that with lack of sleep might excuse me

sorry to be a whinge, am off to comfort eat something and go and look at my lovely co-sleeping girls

hope you're all well

Buckets · 28/06/2008 20:13

TS - good restraint there, well done you.

CC - it's legal for a pg woman to piss whereever she likes in public, just not private property, so you could have squatted on the pavement in front of the coffee shop!

Ilana - Glad the move has gone well, shame about not being able to use tiny tiny cloth nappies though eh? Why not try a carboot sale tomorrow for things like sterilisers and other baby basics? It's a nice morning out and you'll probably end up with a burger or an ice cream (if your DH is anything like mine.)

Buckets'CSection Hospital Bag:_ peppermint teabags for post-op wind, mini-fan because it will still be stifling even without the aerobic workout of labour, facial wipes, sponge & mini shower gel (don't want manky soap & wet flannel in bag later), mini moisturiser, PJs (hold pads in place better), short thin dressing gown, breastpads, bras/shelfy-vests, fanjopads, big cheap pants (Sainsbos are good), 4 vests and 4 sleepsuits (wouldn't have thought hats and socks were necessary in Aug), cotton wool, nappies, antibac wipes for hospital equipment, couple of bibs, new toothbrush & paste, Lansinoh/Kamillosan, Arnica pills, couple of cribsized blankets, old towel, baby name book if necessary, carseat (not in bag obviously).

Buckets · 28/06/2008 20:20

Aw that's bad news Dizzy, hope you get some R&R tonight with your change of scenery. Winge away though, we're all here for you (and I'm not a huggy type so that counts as double).

Buckets · 28/06/2008 21:00

LadyofWaffle - just noticed your email on FB, did you used to be Quootiepie on Mumsnet? If so, glad things have perked up for you since last year, I remember worrying about you. If not, disregard!

thank you

am going to sign off for the night as laptop driving me DEMENTED - have phoned cousin who owns said laptop to demand to know why it is soooooooooo shite and that he brings me chips and would you believe the nerve of him he is out for the night and said no ?!?

shall be setting two young children on him first thing in morning when he stumbles in with hangover

poppysocks · 28/06/2008 23:26

Oh Dizzy, so sorry to hear about your Mum. That's rough and at a time like this too. So hope she picks up soon.

Was thinking of you today when we were up at Cairnie. Now munching through the two tons of strawberries that we managed to return with (as opposed to the two tons DD had eaten before we'd left the field). Season ticket duly purchased and will be back before the end of the week. Thinking of Thursday/Friday if you're around and fancy it (depending on things with your Mum too I guess). Anyway, let me know!

Just finished last big work thing I had to get through before going off. Instead of feeling relieved I know just have a repetitive voice in my head saying "I'm having a baby, I'm having a baby". OH. MY. GOD.

oopsacoconut · 29/06/2008 09:52

Dizzy {{{{{HUGS FOR MUMMYDIZZY}}}}} and {{{{{HUGS FOR DIZZY AND FAMILY}}}}}}

IlanaK - We just used Milton steritabs in a large square cliplid cake box - big enough for pump and the odd bottle.

DH woke up this morning and felt bump and said - 'it's really a baby not just lard, I think we need to go shopping for her!' I slapped him. So off to local baby show for Bamboozles and to see if there is anything else I fancy (all on DH's card though!)

Buckets · 29/06/2008 10:22

Have you gone yet Oops? I recommend Eenee Snibb tie-on newborn wraps for adjustability (takes a week or so for their tummies and thighs to fatten up) then Motherease Rikki wraps (ie the velcro ones) for leakproofness and compatibililty with every type of nappy you try.

oopsacoconut · 29/06/2008 10:54

Thanks buckets - we are on our way in a little while so will have a look and see - I had planned to use molto disposables until the cord has come off. Thanks for the wraps advice I was wavering on which to get.

Buckets · 29/06/2008 11:15

Rikkis can also be happily washed at 60 so you don't need to be so careful!

miamla · 29/06/2008 13:33

morning ladies oops i meant afternoon ladies!
ooh, buckets, i hadn't considered waters breaking in bed! we're a few days away from moving into our new bedroom and new bed so suspect i ought to set up a similar plan re something under sheet to protect mattress!

dizzy so sorry to hear about your mum. i hope she's at least comfortable. but whilst you're worrying about her, don't forget about the miniDizzy you're growing..you need to rest and look after you too.

i am shattered (seems most of us are having a bit of a moan on here!). I've taken over decorating our bedroom. DP having huge problems putting in new skirting boards so we've swapped tasks. he's been busy on the sewing machine making us a new sheet and i've been drilling, sawing and screwing bits of wood to the walls. bump doesn't seem to like me scrunching up and bending over (back's not too pleased with me either but i've done 2 and a half walls so the end is nigh! its so frustrating though..pre pregnany and breaking my back, i could have done skirting boards for the whole room in a couple of hours

i need to fill you all in on how lovely my boss is... my last day at work was friday and i wasn't reallly expecting much more than a card and some vouchers for amazon (a colleague had already checked what vouchers i wanted!) but instead they turned up with a trolley load of food (cakes, biscuits, cheese straws all my favourites!), two bottles of champagne (had one glass and felt soooo drunk didn't get any work done after 4pm!), a huge bunch of amazing flowers, a card, £100 (!!!) of amazon vouchers AND a brand new laptop!! i was absolutely amazed! and to top it all they sent me home in an hour's long cab journey.

to say i was speechless was an understatement!!!

right, best get back to skirting boards...

Sibh · 29/06/2008 15:22

It's quiet on here today. Are you all trapped under something heavy--other than the bumps.
Dizzy so sorry to hear about your mum. We're all thinking of you.
Oops the bamboozles are really fab. I have them for size two but am back to the fluffy ones for size one which look ridiculously big. The motherease wraps are a way better than the totsbots ones which I found to be v. leaky. That sounds as if I was wearing them myself ...

DS is still being a bit painful, but DH gave me a free pass out today and got to dip toes in the atlantic, read a book and eat choc. by the sea so life is looking much better. Take care all.

miamla · 29/06/2008 15:51

think its just me and you Sibh! everyone else is out enjoying themselves. sounds like you've had a lovely day though. it'd be lovely if the sea was closer AND that it was the kind of sea that i'd want to dip my toes in without the fear of a condom getting wrapped round my ankle. (our nearest beach is southend, i need say no more!)

bealcain · 29/06/2008 16:01

afternoon ladies, i'm casually breezing in (lol)

not really have had a frantic few days. went to hosp. friday night as contractions got stronger and regular and i had show aftr show after show. Git there and was 5cm dilated, so definately something happening had one lot of streoids given and something to stop it all. It worked, so i am currently hobbling around at 5cm dilated (isn't that established labour, lol)

so just waiting for it to happen again. Still haven't packed hosp. bag but have started to knit a baby blanket

other than that, just a normal weekend!

Dizzy, sorry to hear about mum, hope these hugs reach you all {{{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}}}}

TwilightSurfer · 29/06/2008 16:16

Hey ladies. I'm here too just keeping a low profile. I'm having an I DO NOT WANT TO BE PREGNANT ANYMORE day. Sleeping hurts, walking hurts, being on all four hurts, sitting hurts. Baby tried to go transverse last night around 8PM...she still hasn't quite straightened out properly. I'm still dealing with congestion. My wedding band doesn't fit me at night. I have stress incontinence. My evenings are plagued with anxiety episodes probably because breathing is difficult. The heat is becoming unbearable. Picking up around the house is crazy because when I bend over I'm almost always losing my balance. Shaving my legs has become more like a circus act. All this and I'm trying to put on a positive face for DD who is totally excited about the new baby's arrival plus keep myself in check because DD has turned into a little demon lately with regards to minding, eating, pottying, sleeping, and did I mention minding. OH WHOA IS ME!! Feels good to have all that off my already crowded rib cage.

OP posts:
miamla · 29/06/2008 16:18

good grief bealcain and you still seem incredibly calm about it all!
please pack a hospital bag, you're worrying me!

TwilightSurfer · 29/06/2008 16:19

HOLY CRAP BEALCAIN!! You're going to be our FIRST BABY BIRTHER!!!!

OP posts:
TwilightSurfer · 29/06/2008 16:20

WTF...baby birther....my brain is pure crap too, obviously. Bealcain, I'm very excited for you but agree with the fact you need to pack your BAGS!!

OP posts:
Buckets · 29/06/2008 16:39

OMG Bealcain, that's so exciting!!! How long will they let you go round 'gaping' for if nothing happens by itself? Suppose as long as the waters are intact baby is ok but is there any risk of infection for you?
I should get on Tesco.com now and do a nice big food shop for the family and add all the baby bits and bobs you need for your bag, for delivery tomorrow (because you could be in the delivery business yourself tomorrow). Lots of fruit and veg to keep your immunity up please.

I'm feeling a bit gloomy today, dunno why, DH napping in DD's bed all afternoon probably hasn't helped. Discovered after putting cot together that we'd got the whole concept wrong so the new mattress is too small for safety, luckily it was the cheapest bespoke mattress there was and cot was free anyway. Have flicked through my 1st labour notes again too which doesn't exactly put a smile on my face. Kids have been good as gold considering we've ignored them all day. Think I might need to pop out for chocolate.

oopsacoconut · 29/06/2008 16:41

Belcain - 5 cms - please pack your bag now you are terribly casual about it.
