Hey Twin....Mine is 07JUL!! AND it's also my next appt. You're really scaring me.

Birth Phases: I studied the phases backwards and forwards the last month of my pregnancy with DD1. I knew exactly where I was at all times and gave me a sense of control over the labor process that I don't believe I would have had otherwise. And even though I had an epidural I could still tell where the baby was inside of me. If you can go over those phases before you start labor, I think you'll be a superstar during labor!!!

damn! i put the wrong smiley on it!!

DD wheech? yet another word you've used that i have no idea about! did we find out what gubbed meant? think it was in reference to your DH at the weekend
have to admit, i've been feeling you again too..sorry but i know you like it really!

evening ladies, i've just spent a small fortune buying baby stuff on-line! if anyone's feeling the urge, toys r us seem to have some pretty good deals on at the moment. and no giggle I don't know if they do them cradle sized!

my order came to £152.99 but.. i managed to get an awful lot for that...moses basket, stand, bath, 2 robes, breast pump, nursing bra, funky bath thermometer (its like a rubber duck!), 10 muslin squares, a changing mat and some spare sheets for the moses basket
Now i've seen it all written down like that i'm feeling more like i've had a bargain shop!
right then baby, i'm ready for you now (as soon as it's all been delivered!)

who was interested in making a baby quilt? cyteen and cavey, right? thought we could set up a separate thread and go through each stage together. anyone else want to join? they make ideal baby presents for friends if you're in that situation!

does anyone else's LO get hiccups alot? mine seems to get them at least 2/3 times a day! it feels really "wrong" whilst his head is so low if you see what i mean!

Does anyone want my dinner recipe for tonight? It works with any kind of beef, even really cheap stuff (although I do know that here in Argentina where we have government price accords about some cuts of steak, meat prices are much cheaper than in the UK, in fact in the UK I never cooked beef at all, but anyway ... if you are still reading after all this waffle ...)

Cut some meat up into chunks.
Brown it in a saucepan.
Add onions, carrots, tinned tomatoes and some tomato paste or a jar/tin of tomato pasta sauce type thing, meat stock cubes, red wine, bay leaves, salt, pepper. Add water until it nearly covers the other ingredients. Cook on a low heat for a couple of hours.

It is a very forgiving recipe, doesn't really mind the quantities of what you put in/substitution of different ingredients and doesn't need any attention after the first bit and whenever I have cooked it so far hasn't yet burnt on the bottom or boiled over.

Tonight we are going to eat it with comedy shaped jacket potatoes (also government price accord - you can buy much nicer potatoes but at an inflated price).

miamla · 26/06/2008 23:15

sazzles i like your thinking!! I was a bit worried about DP agreeing with me that we needed all the bits and pieces i was buying but the only thing he questioned was the top and tail bowl. I managed to convince him that it might be useful and that for £3 it was worth the investment!

longwayfromhome that sounds delicious! i now know what we're having for dinner tomorrow night, thank you!

sarahnh · 27/06/2008 09:04

Morning everyone,

spots are starting to disappear so hopefully i will feel back in the land of the living soon...

really sorry for all those who have had bad appointments... sometimes i really think that docs/mw don't think before they speak!!!

BTW i am also on facebook but not sure where to find you all .. sarah hitchcock if anyone can add me??

Right to breakfast... not sure what to eat.. frickkin heartburn makes everything taste yeck!!!!!!!!!!xxxx

Sarah so pleased you're starting to feel a bit better. I hope you're still taking it easy though

sazzles genius idea! I don't have a nibbles bowl already so this will be perfect! wondering if dinner party guests will mind the teddy bear logo on side of bowl

I've realised this morning that we're all missing a vital thing from our hospital bags...a wig! I imagine things get a little bit hot and sweaty (which is like what got us all into this position in the first place!), hair is going to look a mess so why not just cover up with a wig!

Pixiepants · 27/06/2008 09:49

Sorry to barge in on your thread as I'm not due 'til Nov! Just wanted to see if any of you had seen this thread. Group 1 carseats are the last thing on your mind right now if you're a first time Mum, I'm sure, but a lot of my friends wish they'd known about this product sooner so they could budget for it. Hope you don't mind me trying to keep parents (to be) up to date, but the plan is that by the time your LO's start school, all 0-4 year olds will travel like this.

Good luck with your pregnancies.

Buckets · 27/06/2008 09:58

Hmm 9:52 and I can feel my slackerness creeping over me already! Have already had bowl of crunchy nut cornflakes and a crusty cheese and tomato sarnie, now thinking about a slice of peculiar cake I made yesterday(soggy banana raspberry thing, not really cooked through.) Supposed to be photographing and cataloguing stuff to Ebay but tempted to take DS to the library for a rush-around-shrieking-with-joy session (him not me) then make a big batch of soup. Having a car for the 1st time in 2yrs doesn't half give you cabin fever.

cyteen · 27/06/2008 10:12

Morning all,

Here's hoping today is a better day for all those dealing with the medical profession.

Apologies to all those still working, but I feel the need to make a small announcement: I FINISH WORK TODAY! And I'm only in for the half-day as well, which means I actually finish at lunchtime. Can't believe it's finally here...I'm going to drift round town picking up some baby bits this PM, just to make it seem extra real.

Finally got round to ringing the birth centre to arrange a visit, only to realise that I've managed to arrange it for the one day when DP isn't here I'll be doing that one again, then.

Squidboy is pretty quiet this morning, just the odd kick and poke here and there. He must be as tired as me - I still feel exhausted, despite getting the bus into town and back every day this week instead of walking. And I'm only 7 months.

Had a little insight into the world of a term pregnancy lady yesterday, as I saw my friend who is due to pop any time now. Her due date was Tuesday; she spent Tuesday night having a MASSIVE paddy, screaming, crying, ranting Poor girl, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for her this weekend.

SKYTVADDICT · 27/06/2008 10:15

I finish work today too Cyteen - but not until 5.30 pm - I am hoping they let me go a bit early.

Been up since 5am with DS and really feeling tired already - boss due to arrive shortly and I really can't be bothered to work!

alittlebitshy · 27/06/2008 10:51

See, the night I'm on here in the evening there is barely anyone around, and when I go to bed feeling crap you all decide to party

Still feeling rubbish today. Ugh.

had our ikea delivery of furniture for the baby's room. It's huge and lying in our hallway. Our friend who is going to help dh put it up is coming on Monday. Glad dd and I are going to my parents' for weekend cos seeing all the massive boxes clogging up the hallway would annoy me no end!!! And the ikea men trampled dirty footprints on my carpet . the carpet i had cleaned on Tuesday .

Baby doing strange movements today. Feels rather like it is leaping aorund - it's a bit like when yuo go on a roller coaster and leave your stomach behind.. well more like that that the feeling of kicks iyswim

bealcain · 27/06/2008 10:59

morning ladies,

sorry i didn;'t clock off properly last night. DH need to go to A&E so had to take him and pick him up and then we had fish and chips and bed for me at 7:30pm i never go to bed that eatly. i still feel shattered. perhaps transfusion wouldn't be all that bad!

of all of you finishing work soon....wish i could have maternity leave from everyday life

hope everyone has better days today...sure hope i do.

TwilightSurfer · 27/06/2008 11:57

Morning. I slept through the night will minimal bother (mostly the cat picking at things she shouldn't woke me). Note to all: A 45 minute doze around 4ish seems to help with the night sleeping...seems I'm not overly exhausted and therefore sleep better.

Every piece of clothing in my house is washed and put away. Most of the rooms are clean; just need a quick once over to look proper. Will work on kitchen and bath today. Now can anyone tell me how to keep things looking EXACTLY this way until the baby gets here? I've already give DH a speech about how this cleaning up bit is getting harder and harder to do. There's only 3 to 6 weeks left (week36-week39). THANK GOODNESS!!

Maternity bag is completely packed. Baby's bed is up and ready for use. Car seat and stroller are in the truck. Bottles are in the cabinet. Now all I need to do is get my hair done..... As for wigs, I have a ball cap and a bandana in my maternity bag; either will do if the hair goes crazy.

CaptainCaveman · 27/06/2008 12:02

Hope your dh is ok bealcain? Hoping you have a better day too!

Seen mw this morning, all well. She couldn't quite work out which way bubs is lying, although agreed with me that it did feel like a head under my ribs. It feels to me like he has got his hand on top of his head! odd child. He has got hiccups atm awwwwww.

Question of the day - do I go for a manual or an electric breast pump? . The reviews on mn are not helping me to make a decision. I used a manual one last time with reasonable success. Do I really need an electric one?

TS I am sure we must be related in rl! I also have an appt on 7th July with the mad doctors (not that I'm suggesting your appt is with the mad docs! ).

dizzy I am not feeling you today, nor any other day if thats ok with you. Ladies, give the poor chick a rest!

dizzydixies · 27/06/2008 13:03

just a quickie

cc glad to hear you're not feeling me today although it was rather nice

been to asda/ pick up DD's rapaired bangle, all the way home to find no house keys all the way back to retrieve them off numpty dh and then all the way home again

managed to unload shop and feed kids now having a quite 5 minutes before sports class this afternoon

beef stroganoff on the menu for tonight, if the blighters give me a moment to make it otherwise it'll be bacon rolls

feel like have been kicked in fanny permanently now sorry if TMI

not good news on mum front but we'll wait and see what happens this afternoon - of course this is the weekend her consulatant is going away for a wee break - cheek of the man

opened pram box to make sure carry cot was within but did NOT bring it out of the shed and didn't remove any of the items - is that ok?!?!?!?!?

hope you're all sunny where you are too ladies - will catch up later

bealcain · 27/06/2008 13:04

CC depennds how often you;re going to use it. mine is going to see quite a of use so got electric, for the odd occassion wth ds2 i used a manual or hand....

bigboydiditandranaway · 27/06/2008 13:12

Any tips when seeing mw re birth plan. Baby was breech last time she checked so i would hope for a ceserean. If baby has and stays head down then i'd really want an epidural if there was time as had a tough birth last time and have to admit, i feel scared about birth but know deep down that you can't plan too much.

Sausageandmash · 27/06/2008 13:13

CaptainCaveman,I used a hand pump, because the idea of an electric one makes me feel a little too 'cow like' BUT the electric one will undoubtedly make quick work of the pumping so, no need, but quite a big plus point I reckon.

Congratulations to all those who are about to finish work - a sigh of relief but also a slight fear factor - this baby thing is actually REAL and in our sights. !!!!!!!
