I had Anna as my secret favourite baby name. DH told me today that he didn't like it at all. No Anna for us then...

Yes sorry for all the bad appointments today. Thing is in a weird way it's the only time I look forward to docs appointment.

I had general 34 week GP appointment today, it wasn't my normal female doctor but a man and he couldn't have been nicer. Was very pleased they were monitoring my blood pressure and reassured me it's for the best. Also advised me of best sleeping positions for baby and me (lying on left side apparently, which I knew already but didn't want to say it). Plus said on the kicks issue, 10 in 12 hours is a good sign, whether that's 10 at once or 10 during the day, that's what we should be looking out for. So he just generally made me feel very happy about things.

yeah there are a few threads on here that other people have put on and also a separate website with helpline and forum - there seems to be little that can be done but other health authorities deal differently, some have you in hospital from when it is suspected to when you deliver, others prescribe meds, others deliver at 35 weeks and others at 37. Mine seem to get you to see a different dr every week who will give you a different vague plan! Just have to focus on fact that at some point in next 2 - 9 weeks the baby will be here and all this will be over! Just seems like a massive range at the moment so am going to assume that I will be going to term unless they actually book me in for anything else!

ataraxis · 26/06/2008 21:33

sazzles - will keep you posted!

Shazza2002 · 26/06/2008 21:35

Sorry, I didn't mean to be insensitive. Was just trying to give a bit of hope that some doctors can be lovely and hopefully those of you ladies who had bad appointments this time will find the nice doctors next time

CaptainCaveman · 26/06/2008 21:41

shazza your doc sounds lovely

Sorry to all others who had crap appts today

I've got mw appt in the morning, the usual excitement. Pee test, bp check, fundal height waste of time measurement, and listen to baby's heart. The constant rib pain and kicks in the fanjo, plus the hard round ball right underneath my right ribs tells me jerry is still breech. Ho hum. Back to see cons on 10th July (our wedding anniversary!)

TS I think the kids must've been texting or emailing each other. Ds adores Tom & Jerry and laughs out loud when he watches it. "Pecos Pest" is his all time favourite episode.

I did the baby ironing - coz there is so little of it to do!! Still leaves a big fat pile for another day....

It's ok sazzles. Although on the humour front, I thought my comment about the threads was quite funny

Shazza2002 · 26/06/2008 22:00

Ha Ha, you can tell I don't have my calculator at home. I worked out the wrong number of threads, I think this accountants brain has offically started maternity leave

We will actually need 8 threads, shall I just shut up and go to bad

Buckets · 26/06/2008 22:00

Erm Captain... you ironed the baby clothes???

Gigglegirl, poor you, was just looking at the OCSupport site and even Piriton doesn't look that helpful does it? Fingers crossed it all goes away spontaneously.

I've just had my 2nd NCT Refresher session which was fascinating. Going through the 'classic' labour process in detail is so completely different when you've starred in that movie iyswim (well, to pushing stage in my case.) Found myself quite quiet for me throughout it, putting myself in the picture and being able to visualise what went wrong where.
Heard of the Transition stage for the 1st time and was able to identify that bit for me (pretty much where the foetal distress kicked in.) If any 1st timers haven't heard of transition, go google it now! It's quite a useful thing to understand I'd imagine, for your partner too.

tee hee buckets! Transition don't think i ever got there the 1st time - won't retell scary birth story but with both my boys I had my own little pity party at that stage - should have realised the 2nd time it meant he was about to arrive but had a very new midwife and she'd said 4 or 5 hours so that was what I was thinking, he arrived a few minutes later though. Def worth understanding - I was demanding an epidural at this point but more amusingly I can still hear myself saying with total conviction "get me a knife NOW and I will cut this child out myself - I mean it!" Maybe that is why he put in such a quick appearance after that!

gigglegirl · 26/06/2008 22:18

why is baby bedding soooooo expensive
not sure what i did with bedding for swinging cradle - can't actually recall having/buying any but I must have but it seems to cost a small fortune!
