Congrats on your scan Bagpuss. Who's going to be the first to find out they're having a girl???! (Or have I missed a post somewhere?)

Morning ladies!

Bagpuss30: Congrats on your boy! Seem to be quite a few on this thread!

Dead Sea Magik is fine for kids as far as I am concerned. I used it on the foot/ankle crease area of DS when he was about 6 months old and it really helped. I also use it as aftersun when we go on hols. It's great for the whole family (I should have shares in it!) and none of us have had any allergic reactions to it! Give it a go! It smells nice too! You may use it already but we still use Infacare in DS's bath. It makes his skin lovely and soft again with no allergic reaction. I even use it sometimes when I have time for the luxury of a bath!

Cheers everyone for the advice about buggy boards. Once we have chosen a buggy/pram for new baby will defo invest in one.

Aussiesim: Another boy! Lovely news!

Hoxtonchick: So sorry to hear about your cousin. A very difficult time for all of you.

Lolasmum: Hope you DH is successful in his job hunt.

I am beginning to think there is light at the end of the tunnel as I have been sick and headache free for some time now and feeling much more myself. Really pleased as we have just booked to go away to Florida for 3 weeks (next Thursday). It will be our last chance before baby comes and insurance people won't insure me after 24 weeks as I am over 35 and had a problematic pregnancy last time! Managed to get Direct Line to insure us! It has caused us quite a nightmare!

Lots of organisation to do before next week but I haven't got much to pack as none of my summer stuff fits!

Take care everyone and hope to post again before we go!

Ahhhh, Webwoman, happy holidays....We won't be going anywhere for quite a while, just had a sickening email from a mate that had a fantastic holiday in Bali, a child free two weeks of shopping, massages and culture ( in that order ).
I seem to be having an exhaustion relapse, actually went to bed at 1930 the other night, maybe the wee thing is having a growth spurt, he's kicking around alot, which is good fun.. Think I'll be a light weight and have another early night tonight. God knows, come July it's all back to being grateful for anything more than 4 hours.
Has anyone got one of those elaborate cot like portable things that rock/ play music/soft lights etc...they seem so extravagant, but I've heard quite a few people saying how they helped preserve their sanity, or are they a complete waste of time?????

lovinit · 18/02/2005 08:39

OZJO i have one of the lullaby machines for DD who was a real pain in the backside to get to sleep. After persistant use, she came to associate the music to sleeptime and now, I have to take it with me everywhere .

BOYS ! there seem to many boys out there ! Does anyone believe that you can tell the sex by the shape of the bump ? Being in Asia, people constantly comment and I wonder if it is a mainly Asian thing ???

hub2dee · 18/02/2005 18:48

Hello again to the July gang. Just had our 16 weeks mw appointment and heard the heartbeat which is always nice after a month or so... dw was wondering if it was still in there .

I tried to feel dw's fundus on the mw's couch (ooh errr) and failed miserably. Big grubby paws no doubt. Bloods all came back OK which is a nice relief though one sample wasn't labelled so dw got speared again. You're all so brave about the bloods. I tend to pass out at the mere mention of blood extraction. Hope I can shape up to do something useful come action stations this Summer

(cross-posted to August thread as we are straddling the end of the month on our dates)

Have a lovely weekend all.

pandagirl03 · 18/02/2005 21:10

well hello everyone long time since i last posted but do read everyday for a catch up....

im 20 wks + 4 had my scan 2day but baby didn't want to play has turned round so head is on my left side and is curled up so couldn't get a got view of the heart, they said they could see the 4 chambers but couldn't see cross over not sure what that means, if anyone does plz let me know.

any way got another scan in 2 weeks for a better look. glad everyone is doing well.

hub2dee · 18/02/2005 22:09

hi pandagirl,

I think the sonographer meant that they had a good view of the four chambers of the heart, but failed to visualise the cross-over of the pulmonary artery and aorta.

I wouldn't worry, it's almost certainly down to the curled up position of babba.

Would link to my source, which I got off google, but the URL is now pointing to a subscription page instead of the article. Darn. Have a google and you may find more info. HTH.

Eulalia · 20/02/2005 09:16

Hi again - finding it hard work posting on two threads. What about you hub2dee?

Webwoman - have a great holiday!

Panda - I am sure things are fine - nice to have another scan so soon to reassure you.

Our appointment went well - heard baby's heartbeat. The midwife said not to worry about my weight (just put on 2 pounds) till much later on. I think it was this thread that had the weight discussion?!

AussieSim · 21/02/2005 02:15

I was down to one comfy bra last week and couldn't bring myself to open the draw containing my pregnancy and maternity bras from last time. I went to David Jones (an aussie department store) and gathered up an armful of bras one size up. Normally I am a 12D, so picked up 14D's. I tried on the first one and then asked an assistant to check the fit was OK. Of course it wasn't and she gave me a bit of curry about still wanting to wear underwire and then went and got her first collection of maternity bras, which had to be replaced by a second lot in a bigger size. Anyway, I ended up walking out of there with two Elle Macpherson maternity bras (lilac and black) in size 16DD (25% off luckily). I was saying "I know my bump will get bigger but I don't think I'll put on more weight on the rest of me-" She told me that my ribs will open up to make more space. I hadn't heard that one before. Anyway I am much more comfy and quite impressed with Elle's creations, especially compared with the Anita ones I used last time. Just thought I'd share ...

OzJo · 21/02/2005 08:08

AussieSim, I didn't know Elle did bras up to a DD. Last pregnancy was in Darwin, you can imagine the lack of anything maternal whatsoever. Now in Hobart, no David Jones, but a damn sight more options, ie, something other than the fat shops. I feel like the belly has drastically expanded really quickly, but that probably has more to do with going out for a posh lunch, ( Dd in childcare, me and Dp with a day off, had to do something swanky).Dp is currently sleeping off the 3 fat glasses of wine he had...I had one very posh glass and an obscene pudding.
Well done to anyone managing to follow 2 threads, I wouldn't have the brain power.
How's everyone finding the name debate? Me and Dp are basically agreed on a boys name, but he has a really silly middle name he has his heart set on...( Wellard for fucks sake), sounds like the dog off Eastenders...anyway, I got to choose Dds middle name, so can't really bitch, plus it's a family name....anyone else having fun with it all?

hoxtonchick · 21/02/2005 08:28

hi all,

we can't agree on names at all. aiming to find out the sex at my scan this friday, so at least that'll narrow the choice by 50%. i've been driven to drastic measures - told dp he can go to glastonbury (2 weeks before my due date) if i get to choose the name. he won't go for it (god, i hope not....) but it was quite funny watching his face....

thanks for all your concern about my cousin. she had pre-eclampsia complicated by HELPP syndrome (i only know what i've googled about it which is a bit scary). she's doing much better but is still in hospital, probably will be for a while. my parents have been over to see them, say she's doing pretty well but her partner is very shocked. she is talking about when she is pregnant again which sounds positive.

ds is being very cute at the moment. whenever anyone asks, he says "i'm going to be a brother soon." and sounds very excited. i really hope the reality lives up to expectations!

i am 20 weeks now. half way. hooray. lots of kicks now. tummy really enormous. ah well, as long as the baby's ok, i can always lose weight.

hope you're all ok.

Eulalia · 21/02/2005 13:21

OzJo- lol at Wellard the dog. My dh suggested 'Dennis' !!??? We've had one name discussion but given up. Trouble is having a boy and girl already we've used up all our names - it was bad enough finding names for them!

HC- congrats on reaching half way. My ds wants a sister which is strange for a boy, but don't think he cares really.

Lolasmum · 22/02/2005 10:02

We've got snow in SE London! Dd woke up at 5.45 this morning so we managed to get a snowball fight in before I had to go to work. One positive thing about Dh still not having a job is that he's taking her out of nursery early today so they can go sledging (if snow lasts 'til then). I wonder when I'll grow up and stop being excited about snow?

Nothing else to report. 4 weeks to my scan. Baby keeps kicking and I keep growing and hoping that Dh gets a job soon......

whimsy · 22/02/2005 16:01

Hi ladies Glad everything is going well.
We have our 20 week scan tomorrow and still not decided if we should find out the sex, it's strange because with ds we really didn't want to know .
I have to got to see the consultant every 2 weeks which is a drag but at least i am being monitored. This baby will be our last as it's high risk due to the fact i suffer from high blood pressure and i developed pre eclampsia with ds who was born 6weeks early. If the the truth be known thats why i don't seem to post much as i keep getting upset as weve been toldthat there is a 40% chance this baby will be born early too. The thought of going to SCBU again fills me with fear
Sorry to waffle good luck to all those with scans coming up

merryberry · 22/02/2005 19:45

Good luck tomorrow Whimsy, and good luck with the pre-eclampsia as you chug along to week 40 (I'll be rooting for you getting there). xx

hoxtonchick · 22/02/2005 19:49

good luck tomorrow whimsy. i'm high risk too (diabetes) & had to see the obstericians/diabetes team every 2 weeks at the beginning. they've calmed down slightly now (wow, only a hospital trip every 4 weeks), but i suspect they'll start putting the pressure on again soon. it really changes your view of pregnancy doesn't it. anyway, hope all is ok with you, let us know. xx

whimsy · 22/02/2005 20:45

Thanks Girls
