Katz, thanks for your email. I have replied but also said I would post on here my suggestion for luch tomorrow. Basically all I suggested was that at lunch we give our doatios to someone, and they send off 1 cheque to Katz, makes it a bit simpler. I'm happy to send a cheque.

JonahB - My DH is actually supposed to be jewish. I say supposed, because everythime it gets close to some of the high hollidays I try to get him to tellme about or organize something for DD to be exposed, but he always says he doesn't know anything about it... If I was in the US the decision would be simple, I would do it just like everybody else and would make his family happy at the same time. But here is not that common, so it would have to be a real religious cerimony, which I have to say is weird since he is not a practicing person at all.
I want the kids to identify themselves with both my and his culture, but it does seem like a harsh procedure....
I think I will leave for him to organize everything. If he amazes me and get things done, than be it.

Lua · 22/01/2005 20:33

I am very glad you guys had a really good time in London! I might have to come down next time !

bubbaloo · 23/01/2005 01:09

i might even venture out too

Scraggyaggy · 23/01/2005 10:06

Morning all!

Lovely to meet you all yesterday. I agree with Charleypops, it was all over too quickly and then obviously compounded by the fact that Pink and I were slightly later. It would be nice to meet somewhere a little quieter next time, (if we can think of somewhere) as I found it difficult to hear everyone, so am sure you must all think I was doing a goldfish impersonation straining to hear you!!!

Glad everyone got home ok and the shopping was successful. We didn't get to go to a show in the end as everything we wanted to see was sold out. We did consider going to the cinema but I got the shock of my life when she asked for £24 for the two of us to see The Aviator!!! (Sorry, am not used to London cinema prices and am absolutely gobsmacked!!!) So, we went to the British Museum and had a good look at the mummies and then went to Covent Garden for tea and to see the street performers. Was a great afternoon.

When we meet again I will never remember all your real names again I'm sure!! I hope you don't mind!

Either 19 March or 2 April are currently free on my social calendar so let me know!

Must go, porridge is getting cold! x

katzguk · 23/01/2005 10:20

morning all, the other cheque was from tribpot.

wil work on DH for a day trip to london on one of thsoe two days!!

katzguk · 23/01/2005 10:23

pink - i've not ignored your CAT just thought there was no point to RSVPing because of the london meet-up!

JonahB · 23/01/2005 11:15

Morning All,
Glad the london meet up went so well. You sould like you had a fantastic time. Us northerners should really start sorting out our sheffield meet and finalising a date.
Katz, my cheque went in the post this morning, so it should be with you by Tuesday. Sorry if I'm the last one . Oh, and my DH is a massive fan of the imperial war museum as well. Last time we went, he ran around like an excited puppy, pointing out various bombs, planes, while I tried to feign interest. They are much better being left to do it on their own .
Lua, if we did go ahead with a circumcision, which I suspect is quite unlikely, I wouldn't have a religious ceremony, I think you can have it done simply as a medical procedure. That way, the baby gets a local anaesthetic. The religious way means that they wont be given any injection at all, which I (personally) feel is a little unneccessary.

Scraggyaggy · 23/01/2005 12:03

Hi, Just bumped up the spa day thread so we can start getting organised. Has everyone signed up who wants to come? x

LipstickMum · 23/01/2005 12:43

Morning guys,

Scrags, I can't believe you had to almost pay £24 for the movies, that's London for you. I would have been at that too. This thread seems a bit surreal to me at the moment, a combinatoin of all that's happened over the last week and meeting some of you, therefore putting faces to names. It all feels a bit odd.

I remember that episode of sex and the city when Charlotte was horrified at the non circumsized Willy. It is a big thing in USA isn't it? I heard mainly around Newyork though because of the obvious jewish community who do it for religious reasons and then it has just become the thing to do in USA more so than other places.

The hygiene thing isn't so viable these days as it was back in the men in skirts running around the desert and washing once a month if you were a clean person. However I hear geting little boys to wash properly when they get old enough is essential. Though I can't say I'd have the bits cut off if I had a son.

Oh hello - I'll write more later no doubt I was just having this conversation the other day with my friends husband. He was horrified - said man won't get the snip - apprently it will kill his manhood The operation is so much easier for the guy than the girl - selfish louse. I should think him lucky really - my mates mum had her dad done and forced him to ride home afterwards on a bike!!! They had a difficult second pregnancy and unruly little boy - bit of revenge methinks

PinkArjuna · 23/01/2005 14:15

£24 quid!!!! - For the cinema %"F!!!! I have a student card and moan at paying £5 - some days I can go for £2.40 and I still moan about it. I remember when I used to go for 55p That said I liked the aviator though it is worth the hype.

Nice to meet you all yesterday - I was a touch sleep deprived and have a tendancy to rattle on without breath I was so impressed with my mountain like burger - though afterwards I decided I will have to invest in maternity clothes and spent the journey home with my flies undone Honestly I could only fit a waffle in after that lunch. I haven't eaten out in ages and ages though so it was really nice.

I used to know this amzing little place near the albert hall. Can't for the life of me remember what it is called though - I think it was mainly sea food - or a little braisserie of some sort with a changing menu. I always ate the muscles though. They did the best muscles - MMMmmmm muscles. We aren't allowed to eat those are we?? Well that was my effort for a suggestion for the next meet - not very helpful though

I'll be having my puter fixed the next few days so won't be online I am getting quite attached to checking the posts when I get in and reading about the ever expanding bumps.

My bump seems to have finally moved up a bit - must have turned over last night. I only went to the loo once in the night! I slept all night!! I can't believe it. Now it is pushing my belly button almost the whole way out and seems to be sitting much higher than it has been. I didn't feel any kicks directly onto the bladder last night. Hence I am in a much better mood. You've no idea how depressing it has been averaging 3 hours of sleep for the last little while. I have been dead to the world, you know when everything is a melodrama!!

Its almost a shame the meet isn't today I'm in a really good mood So nice to put names to faces. I got back Ok but was too tired to come online so read a book and slept for eternity

Oh Katz - I didn't think you were ignoring me, infact I hadn't even considered it as I was giving the money to Lippy on Saturday. I am always a touch behind as things move so fast around here.

charleypops · 23/01/2005 15:23

Pink - I couldn't believe how quickly you ate that mammoth burger - one minute it was there, the next poof - Gone! Amazing!

I think I had the biggest bump there I hope it slows down otherwise I won't be able to get out of the house let alone get down to London again!

Lippy are you sure you haven't already got that shade of lipstick??

The little ones of yours there were perfectly behaved and SO cute! Almost made me feel maternal!!

Do try and make it to the next meet Katz, Megi, Bubbs and Lua!

LipstickMum · 23/01/2005 15:56

Am pretty sure I don't have that shade, but not positive

I couldn't believe the way Pink got thru that burger either I had half a cheese and pickle sandwich at about 930, and that was only so I didn't wake up in the middle of the night, hungry.

OP posts:
Uwila · 23/01/2005 16:48

Charley, I don't think your bum is very big. In fact I'm sure you outskinnied me. ... even though you promised you wouldn't!

Went looking at prams today. I think I'm just going to get a Maclaren Techno classic. Can't really bring myself to spend a fortune on a pram I'll hate pushing by month 3. I remember with dd whe I ditched the M&P Pliko for a MAclaren, and I was sooooo happy. Then, I got together with the other mums from my prenatal class and found out everyone had moved to a maclaren. The only thing is I can't get a care seat to fit into it. But, I think I can live with that.

Uwila · 23/01/2005 16:49

oh sh*te... Charley, I meant to say bump, not bum.

PinkArjuna · 23/01/2005 17:17

Lippy - I was awake the night before hungry It goes in waves, when I can fit in nothing then I am so bloody hungry I eat till I feel ill. I had to wake up too early to have anymore than half a bowl of shreddies and half a cup of tea. I was starvin marvin Needless to say next time I'll order a smaller one I hadn't realised they'd be so big - you know how the burgers in burger king are really thin.

I thought you had a really stylish looking bump Charley - Infact you know like the kind you see in the preggy books and think - how does that bump look so fashionable

Went to mother care this afternoon to buy some maternity clothes. Got some jersey trousus which were really cheap and not too bad. Well I only bought them cos I have to face facts the bump has taken on a life of its own.

sobs I have to unplug the puter now wail I'll see you all sometime next week.

LipstickMum · 23/01/2005 17:34

Oh no Pink, how long will you be offline?? I bet you'll get loads done without it

OP posts:
charleypops · 23/01/2005 17:44

Uwila! my bum's growing too! Well, I think we should have compared and contrasted bumps 'because yours
looks much neater than mine!

I'll defo get one of those little pushchairs like yours to live in my car, it must be about the smallest, lightest one around. Even so, I don't know how any of you manage with pushchairs of any description going up and down all those stairs on the underground

Pink - well I don't know about stylish, it certainly won't be in a couple of weeks! Hope you get your pc up and running properly soon.

teabelly · 23/01/2005 18:28

Evening all,

Can't believe this is the first opportunity I've had to turn the computer on all weekend.

Agree with everyone, it was really good to meet you...and I was right no-one was how I imagined them to be Scraggy I thought you'd be blond?? Welshie I thought you'd be shorter...and Charley... you should look older! . I'm def. free the 2nd April for another meetup...March I can't say at the mo as we're hoping to have a last minute break away in March (whilst I can still fly!!) before bubba arrives.

Lippy your lipstick collection sounds like my shoes...I'm not known as Imelda at home for nothing, he he he!

Better go as I can here his little highness calling...will catch up tomorrow. x

bubbaloo · 23/01/2005 18:48

evening all,
glad everyone had such a nice time yesterday and sure i'll see you all at the next meet up and my "bum" will definately be the biggest-LOL!!!
dont know about "bumps" though as i am still wearing all my jeans except one pair which happen to be my favourite-never mind
went shopping today and after deciding NOT to get anymore baby stuff we ended up with the bath and soap tray(only as it was half price!).
we've decided to get the gina dresser in the mamas and papas shop so the bath and soap tray fit into there.havent bought the dresser yet as that can wait and we're also going to get the amelia cot from there too but again not just yet
ive found that most of the cots and dressers all seem to be pine which has been a pain as we're having white but im pleased now we've decided what to go for
as for lipsticks and shoes,im a bit like that but with bags.i must have over 200 hand bags and have been known to buy 3 or 4 different ones in a day
anyway hope everyones had a nice weekend-thought it might have snowed down here in essex as its been really cold, but it hasnt...yet

welshmum · 23/01/2005 19:32

teabelly - you need to work on those stereotypes of small welsh types working in the mines and riding on pit ponies
Once again I was so sorry to leave early but I didn't want dd to show me up by suddenly coming over all unnecessary. I'm really up for another meet.
I've just got 2 big bags of maternity clothes from sister and mate so can't justify much more expenditure sadly. I tried some of it on and I was shocked at how pg I looked in the mat stuff. Now I know how to get a seat on the tube.

LipstickMum · 23/01/2005 20:29

I'm wearing the maternity dress I bought yesterday, it is so comfortable not to have a waistband irritating me and constantly needing to be hoiked up. Am now going to wear only dresses until June (or my pyjamas ) !!

OP posts:
charleypops · 23/01/2005 20:50

Haven't been maternity clothes shopping yet It kind of seems too grown up

charleypops · 23/01/2005 20:54

Did I read somewhere maybe on this thread, maybe not, that quite a few people found cots a waste of money and wouldn't bother with them 2nd time round? Or do some people refer to moses baskets as cots (I know a lot of people don't get much use out of those).

I'd've thought a cot (as in a wooden thing with rails) was pretty necessary?

katzguk · 23/01/2005 21:06

moses baskets and baby baths are a waste of money! COT is essentail or a Cotbed!!

Your met sounds like great fun, guess we northerns will have to get our met all sorted now!!
