star - you sound incredibly organised. hope everything falls into place for you.

trying to cope with the heat here too. the fans are on full blast in the lounge. Its my birthday too - we've been out for dinner and it was so nice tobe somewhere that was air-conditioned.

my belly button has popped out overnight. the dds think its hilarous and have wanted to show everyone!

star6 · 27/07/2008 20:55

lol twinklytoes!! how cute of them to want to show everyone

bethoo · 27/07/2008 21:08

star6 i must admit i was lucky as my belly was back to normal within a week.you will find that when you bf you will feel period like cramps, take this as a good sign that your muscles are contracting and therefore pulling your tummy in.being a fitness fanatic for years i was mortified! jsut hoping that it will be the same this time!
happy birthday twinkly.
my belly button is stretching so it looks open as usually it is a slit so just a matter of time before it pops out again!

star6 · 27/07/2008 21:21

thanks bethoo... that sounds promising!! Fingers crossed for both of us
How soon did you start exercising after the birth (this is my 1st). Right now, I go for a 45 minute walk (not fast) every morning, well 5X/week... but I don't feel like I'm doing anything - I was used to running before.

bethoo · 28/07/2008 09:18

i think you can start as soon as you feel ready, though sit ups are out til your stomach muscles have got back to normal. but start off gently. i intend to start runnign straight away but may be hard with a demandingnew baby, being tired and having a dp who will actually look after the babies alone!

sparklesandnowinefor13weeks · 28/07/2008 13:24

star i hope everything works out for you, it sounds like you have things organised well and as you say you won't be too far away from your baby to still have cuddles during the day

Is anyone else finding this weather intollerable? I feel like such a wuss the DC want to go out and i just feel really light-headed and dizzy all the time that i can hardly stand up for too long never mind walk anywhere for the whole day!!

snowymum · 28/07/2008 13:39

Wow - just got back from the chiropractor and I think my SPD is fixed - feeling evangelical like you, caramelbunny! I keep walking funny to try to get the pain to come back but it's just gone. Took 30 seconds to treat me (plus an hour and a half of asking questions). I am in shock. £75 - but worth every penny if this is actually permanently fixed. Wow.

snowymum · 28/07/2008 13:39

oh yeah, and her office was air conditioned which was therapy in itself!

Rhian82 · 28/07/2008 14:28

Hello, new to this thread! I'm due on 27th October, have to admit we're hoping he will be four days late so we get a Halloween baby

Lozza70 · 28/07/2008 16:00

Welcome Rhian82Snowymum & carmelbunny v. jealous that your SPD is sorted out I'm just back from an NHS physio appt and got exercises to try and a maternity belt which is gross....and just too hot/uncomfortable for this weather. They advised me to be more 'ladylike' when getting in/out of cars, baths etc. and to find a new way of getting intimate with DH!! Maybe I should look to private and see if there is something else that can be done.

star6 · 28/07/2008 17:21

Welcome Rhian82!
So was at the bank today and the lady behind me, when I turned to the side, said, "oh! I didn't even realize you were pregnant until I saw your front!" (as if the bump would bulge anywhere else.. ha ha!) Then, "what a neat little bump that is". THEN, later at sainsbury the check out lady says "so... when's it due?" I said, "October" She raised her eyebrows and looked at me and said, "Well, I think it's going to be a LOT sooner than that"... looking at me as if I were about to explode!! I just love the mixed opinions on the size of my bump

twinklytoes · 28/07/2008 18:12

hi rhian, welcome.

the thunder storm is about to hit here. here's hoping it will clear the heat so I can sleep tonight. sent dh out to the farm with the dds this afternoon so I could sleep as only managed 12 - 4 last night.

i get out of breath walking up the stairs!

hedgepig · 28/07/2008 21:44

evening, it has finally cooled down here (at 1/2 9) I even stayed at work late to sit in the air conditioning. Has anyone had a decent nights sleep recently? I know poor sleep is supposed to get you ready for poor sleep when the baby comes but I would just like 7hrs sleep without several loo breaks

annwoo · 28/07/2008 21:56

Hi everyone, hello to all the newbies. Thankfully it has started to cool down! Took the kids to the park at 7.10am this morning to beat the heat ( they arise at 5.30 at the mo). Had a lovely morning.

Caramelbunny Star I am also a teacher! I was meant to go back in April but decided to take a couple of years out while the kids are young.

Star - it's great you have found good childcare, it really helps to put your mind at rest when at work.

Don't really want to think about post preg body yet thank you very much.

Bethoo I envy your stomach going back within a week!!!!!
Not fair!!!

ronshar · 28/07/2008 22:34

I remember with my first DD I was so pleased to be back in pre preg jeans in 2 weeks that I sent a text to all my friends. They thought I was nuts! It was 2000 new year so I had to get into a little black dress for the big party. I managed, just, but then forgot to stuff myself with breast pads so had to make do with toilet roll half way through the evening.
I wasnt so forgetfull with DD2.

A Chiropractor is the way to go if youare in pain. Look throught the ABC magazine if there is one in your area. It will tell you of the Chiropractors who specialise in pregnancy/babies. I dont know what I would do without mine. Well it would probably be something along the lines of not walking around much!

My Belly button was a thing of the past at least 4 weeks ago. I dont like the way it stickes out through my clothes. Rubbish.

star6 · 28/07/2008 22:52

My belly button hurts! Not hte actual button but the bit just above it and the top of it Its not popped out, though... but it looks like it might at any second!

ronshar · 28/07/2008 22:57

So that isnt just my crappola muscle tone then Star? If I press into the bit, just above the thing that used to be my inny belly button, it hurts! I wonder why that is?
I really want to go to bed but I am not looking forward to the 10 trips to the loo, the rolling over like a Rhino to get comfy and the hip pain that I get because all of my 11 stone is pressing down through a small area. (I like to think it is still a small area but the mirror tells me otherwise).

Jambers99 · 29/07/2008 07:59

Hurrah for a good nights sleep! DS slept through for the first time in about a week (the heat's been waking him up too), and I got 7 solid hours of shuteye, bliss!

Thanks for the stats update CSWS, though sad to see that Chilledbunny has gone as she was my EDD buddy, and now I'm all on my own at the very end of the list....

star6 · 29/07/2008 08:39

Ronshar - I hope it's not all about poor muscle tone! probably, though! No stomach toning exercises for more than 6 months has probably done it I'm glad to hear that someone else has this as well. I was feeling like a bit of a freak - the skin just above it is just a touch darker(more purplish), too.
LOL at rolling over like a rhino

Good for you, Jambers99!! what a nice feeling to have a good night's sleep.

bethoo · 29/07/2008 10:23

anyone got their little line on their belly yet?

SmudgeyDoodle · 29/07/2008 10:24

HI everyone (especially newbies). We had a lovely week in France - not sure if a holiday when there were 4 boys aged between 17 months and 6 years - but it was lovely to see family. It's taken me a week to catch up on all the emails as computer slow and DS being a whinge monster. Given in to the idea of needing to get a double buggy so now starting to look around. I think I want a side by side one but no idea where we'll put it in the house. DS at nursery this am and I am supposed to be getting lots of sorting out done but here I am! Sympathy to all those with pelvis pain. I've got a bit but I think it's still mostly due to carrying DS which I'm trying to do as little as possible. Up here it's not been too hot so you could send a bit of sunshine up this way

SmudgeyDoodle · 29/07/2008 10:26

Bethoo - hope you are feeling better. The only lines I'm getting at the moment are where my maternity trousers are too tight but it was really late on last time and then took ages to fade.
