perkypopsy · 25/07/2008 11:30

Hi ladeeeeez
Just having a chill out day tofay - have been out three nights this week and am defo not up to it! bethoo your crisp sarnie has made me hungry - I now know what I'm going to ask the coffee shop man to make me for lunch . Good to hear you all have same right side pain as me - I was walking out of tezzys carpark last weekend and stopped to rub my bump as was so sore I couldn't walk and a nice man stopped to ask if I was okay - was really embarrassed but also how lush was he??? Should have blagged a lift home though doh!
Welcome back from your hols jambers - Bugaboo is sitting across from me in its box - haven't had chance to get it home yet cos DH has been away (again!) - have been stroking and cooing over the lovely demin and imagining walks along the tow path...hmmmm...October drizzle not so exciting after all
I need to sort out my MAt1B too but looked at it last month and seemed really complicated as I have only just gone self employed so have "filed it" until I can be bothered Have a good Friday and weekend everyone - we're off to the Cotswolds to see the in laws - wish me luck

bethoo · 25/07/2008 11:31

good luck!

perkypopsy · 25/07/2008 11:31

GWTMH I'm going to try to get to 38 weeks and everyone is keeping on at me about it

perkypopsy · 25/07/2008 11:32

hows the bum? [smirk emoticon]

bethoo · 25/07/2008 11:55

still sore though no bleeding today. keep meaning to use my anisol cream!

perkypopsy · 25/07/2008 13:08

are you eating lots of food to loosen things up? - good excuse for a dodgy kebab or curry

bethoo · 25/07/2008 13:09

that is the thing! cant eat much as feel nauseaus after. managing m&ms at the mo and not much fibre in them!
could not even finish a banana the other day, was heaving in the sink after eating a few mouthfuls!

see, so why is my mum making such a fuss? to be honest I want out as soon as I can, but I temp so the longer I work the more holiday I accrue, I only sit at a desk all day as well....maybe I should make it later? Was going to leave a week later but then had two friends who had their babies (pfb's as well) early - one went into labour 7 hours after leaving work and I want at least a week off...trouble is clearly I'll go 2 weeks over now and be bored out of my skull

have just indulged craving for a solero - but fear it is less pregnancy craving and more greedy guts

ronshar · 25/07/2008 14:59

You could give a date to your employer and then go off earlier if needed or just see how you feel. Most employers are grateful to you for staying as long as possible but ultimately it has to be your choice. Also remember the earlier you leave the earlier you have to go back!!
As someone who has had over 4 weeks extra to wait at the end of both pregnancies, work as late as you can. Nothing quite so boring as the, overdue and nothing to do time.
(Can some one tell me why I cant spell desicion. I have lost all reasoning.)

I am so hot, last night was horrid.

Bethoo, how is it sitting down or are you a bit wonky? I would echo the suggestion that you go to GP. It is a bad time for you to be not eating. At this stage baby is slowly draining away all your goodness so they are beautiful and plump when they make thier arrival. But you know that already I'm sure..

CantSleepWontSleep · 25/07/2008 19:16

I worked until 39+1 with dd, but didn't have to commute to do so. Was 6 days late so still managed a week off .

jenwa · 26/07/2008 20:39

I am working up til 34 weeks but have holiday for a month before mat leave. Had really low BP last time and was advised to stay off. Am feeling ok this time so far, have still got low bp, varicose vein and restricted breathing but hey ho, joys of pregnancy.

Went to bbq today at parent in laws today which was lovely. DH annoyed me though when we came home as we have a wedding tomorrow which we are staying overnight for and need to sort stuff. I thought it would be good to try packing few bits and have general house tidy but Dh put DD to bed and made a statement that it was done as if he had done the best thing in the world by putting her to bed (as if I never do!!!!!!!!!!!!!) then went out for a cigarette. I carried on doing everything else (2 lots of washing, put one load away that had already done this morn, hoovering, making the bed as stripped it all today, packing activities for DD tomorrow and sorting food and bags to take. DH came in and ran a bath and is now sleeping on the bed!!!! He told me to chill out but I explained we had no fairies in this house who come and do the housework for us . Why are men usless???? I do wonder what life is going to be like with 2 children as sometimes I feel I should kick him up the arse but when I do ask him for help he says "why did you not tell me instead of being stroppy" I dont think I should always have to ask him to help though! Surely he can get up and give his DD breakfast but appears to stay in bed after I keep calling him and gets up when me and DD finish ours!!!!!! He gets up and sorts himself!

aaahhhhh, Sorry, rant over, just needed to get it out.

bethoo whats it like living apart from your fella? Do you at least know that you have to deal with stuff as no one else around so you dont expect help or is it very hard? (not that I am thinking of kicking him out, well not yet

bethoo · 26/07/2008 21:22

jenwa how low is your bp? mine is 80/40 at the mo. i actually prefer living on my own as like you say i dont expect any help so i jsut get on with it. it is hard sometimes esp as tired and lo is active and i get grumpy but otherwise it is fine. but then it may change when i have two little ones to run around after! no more afternoon naps!also can watch what i want and all other perks, no expecting tea on the table and why cant men put dirty washing in the basket instead of under the bed or next to the bloody basket! my house is alot tidier without a man! not even a toothbrush resides here! cant say too much as he is sat here over my shoulder! at least i may get nookie tonight if not feeling too beached whaley!
anyones belly button popping out yet? mine is starting to look like it!

jenwa · 26/07/2008 21:48

bethoo Mine was 90/40 at hosp afwew weeks ago, usually 100/50 ish or there abouts. I did feel faint though that day and DH got me a twix and bottle of water. I am terrible for not drinking much but when I do I only pee more!!
I can imagine it is busy for you and I do get help, I just wish I could have without having to ask. Men are crap though. Yes washing seems to wait near the basket and shoes pile up by the door and dirty plates dont make it in to the dishwasher just next to it!
My belly button looks like its popping. It never with DD1! But then i was also not this big!!! I am bursting out of some maternity clothes already! Cant imagine how much i will grow in next few months! I worry that it is all going to be loose and saggy when this baby is born . I am bio oiling everyday!!!
Have fun tonight bethoo I had mine last night so cant imagine it will happen again for afew weeks!!!!

Emmsy1 · 27/07/2008 07:18

bethoo and jenwa I have never known anyone to have such low blood pressures. I thought mine was low at 10+4 100/60 but now its 105/65 this is low for me as usually with previous pregnancies I have been around 110/70 - 120/75 at 27+weeks Yours seem extraodinary low, is this a danger in any way to your health??

My low waist (tightly ribbed) maternity trousers are getting too uncomfortable now, especially when I sit down in them, they are making my side pains worse. Went to buy a few extra pairs yesterday from Mothercare (on my card!)not alot to choose from, the winter ones are already out. Came out with a lovely comfy pair of brushed cotton, feels lovely to the touch and not as flared as some I have seen. Also bought a pair of dungarees, have never had them before
but always wanted a pair (think it's since watching the waltons when I was a little girl) also managed to grab a few reduced tops, so pleased I went shopping yesterday.
I did also pick up a few white terry cotton sleep suits for the baby, just incase the baby is not a girl, like the sonographer guessed!

bethoo · 27/07/2008 14:00

way way too hot!!! feeling sweaty and uncomfortable!
mw does not say anything about my bp jsut that it is nice and low and do i get dizzy spells or feel tired?!
had my nookie last night nad this mornign and though it was nice it is also getting uncomfortable. basically spooning up until the end now!
guess i could try and de clutter the house now though want to lie on sofa!
hope everyone is ok.
jenwa i was horrified after giving birth, the mw shive you in a bath and there was a full length mirror in the bathroom and all i could focus on was the saggy belly! needless to say several days of bf sorted it out so i am hoping history will repeat itself.
called my friend last night and she had her baby on wednesday but had anemergency c section as not even her mw had picked up the fact that her baby was breach!

Lozza70 · 27/07/2008 17:40

Ditto on it being too hot Bethoo Sitting in the living room with windows and doors open at both ends trying to get a breeze. Dreading trying to get ready for work tomorrow morning and getting the tube in the heat!

star6 · 27/07/2008 19:27

Trying to catch up on this thread... wow! lots to read... my bp is always around 80/50 as well... it's not dangerous unless it dips a lot lower - sometimes it does, but there are things to do to get it back up.

bethoo, jenwa.... ummmmm... What's all this about a saggy belly??? Does everyone have this after the birth? And HOW LONG does it last? Does it shrink back to normal ever??? My bump is growing quite a bit. I've only put on 8 pounds in 29 weeks ... well, lost 2 pounds at my last appointment, so really, 6 pounds I guess. But the bump is growing, growing, growing nonetheless!!! someone be honest and tell me how long it takes for the belly to snap back to normal... not be saggy... scared now... already feel so unattractive!

I was walking out in the heat today and had 3 braxton hicks within 1 hour... quite uncomfortable... anyone else getting these?

caramelbunny · 27/07/2008 19:37

Hello all, just back from a week in Devon staying in farm house with brother and sister in law and their families. Had a fantastic time, so relaxing and beautiful weather. Drove back up M5 yesterday late morning and felt so sorry for all the poor families sat in solid traffic, people were getting out of their cars and milling around in the heat.

Had a quick scan through all the posts and can't believe how little weight everyone else seems to have put on. I've put on 2 stone (and fully deserve to have done in all honesty as I eat like a greedy wolf with a taste for calorie laden food!).

Baby is getting really kicky and punchy now, it makes me jump sometimes.

Sorry to hear about those suffering with SPD, I know snowymum and Lozza70 have mentioned it. I had problems in my last pregnancy and it started up at about 20 weeks this time. After reading about it through links on this site I'm feeling quite evangelical after seeing a physio who realigned my pelvis 2 weeks ago. It has made a massive difference and I would recommend it to anyone who's hobbling around.

Feeling so lucky as I've finished work already! I'm a teacher so will start my maternity leave from Sept and we finished for the summer last week!

Hope everyone's enjoying the nice weather, I'm glad I'm not more pregnant than this as it must be nightmarishly hot and sweaty.

CantSleepWontSleep · 27/07/2008 19:51

star - I'm afraid the saggy belly is inevitable. I've always been overweight, but never sagged until after I had dd. Even I was quite shocked by it. It does go back within a few weeks if you're lucky, and as bethoo says, breastfeeding helps the uterus to contract back quicker, so you regain your shape a bit sooner if you do it.

star6 · 27/07/2008 19:53

caramelbunny I'm a teacher too! I don't teach at a state school, so we got out in June and go back mid august (kids start end of august). I'm going to go back to school until baby comes (or that's the plan, at least!) I want to start the year off with them as I'll be returning in January (they're 5-7 years old and need to meet me and get used to me as their teacher and we will make a transition to the maternity cover teacher more easily that way). But isn't it GREAT and so practical to have a job with summers off when you're pregnant?? Couldn't think of anything better!

star6 · 27/07/2008 19:56

Thanks csws! Gearing up to bf straight away - I'll do whatever it takes. I've never been overweight, so this belly thing took some getting used to (for me AND DH)... the thought of sagginess is scary! Good to hear that it goes back ... sometimes...

CantSleepWontSleep · 27/07/2008 20:06

at returning in January. Why?!

star6 · 27/07/2008 20:14

I know I have no choice. DH made career change to teaching this year and is still on low salary to start. My salary is higher and he needs to stay working because going through qualification programme (and was really hard to find a position as well). My job only pays 90% of my salary for 6 weeks, then SMP after that... SMP is NOT IN ANY WAY POSSIBLE manageable for us to live on with our mortgage payments, bills...etc. We have no choice. As much as it stinks.
BUT my best friend here (who has children who go to my school) will be looking after the baby while I work and I trust her 200% (probably more than I trust myself tbh!)... so the situation is ok... and as teachers, we have holidays often, I'm only away from the baby from 8am-3.45pm total, all weekend home...etc, etc, etc.
I've looked into a mortgage holiday - it's not possible with our mortgage. Before anyone scorns me for not thinking this through before getting pregnant... we didn't get pregnant on purpose! We meant to have a baby in 1-2 years when DH had finished this qualification year and would be able to get a higher paying teaching job and I would be able to take more time off.
Everyone keeps telling me that SMP is "livable" but we've worked through spreadsheets and budgeting and it's quite simply not going to be.
If I were leaving at 7am and returning at 6 or 7pm every day and working in the city far away and leaving baby with a stranger...etc it would be horrible, but I do think my situation is as "ideal" as it can possibly be, given the circumstances.

star6 · 27/07/2008 20:17

oh, and forgot to mention that my school is a 15 minute drive from where I live... my friend who will be looking after my baby lives 10 minutes from me, 7 minutes from the school. I have a long lunch and specials break each day and it will be possible most days of the week to go and see baby/bf/whatever I need during that time (or she can bring baby to me). I will express my breast milk while at school (I already have a pump and supplies)
