'Preg-a-day' are the iron tablets that i've always been perscribed for anemia, but i'm not sure if you can get them over the counter

otherwise just pg specific multi vits and iron supplements it will help to give you a bit of a boost

I don't know about you but it really feels like my body is being pushed to the limit with no5 more so than with the others? do you feel like that?

hi
I've been getting horrible tightenings, had 2 days at random where I have had contractions. Phoned MW at 24 weeks and reassuredme prob just braxton Hicks. Saw diff MW today and explained amount of pain and frequency as its got worse and she began phoning the ward to admit me! Fortunatly decided just to wait and see but if I have another bad day..like Monday just gone I'm to go in. Despite that (and prem delivery last time) I'm still low risk and not being seen for another 5 weeks.

Pelvis has also disintegrated or at least hats what it feels like. Went last time at about 34 weeks, physio appt came through after I'd had the baby. I've asked for referral now so hopefully something can be done to hold me together. Other leg this time interestingly. Is alrewady a real pain as cannot easily get down to floor level and driving makes my L foot go numb.

This is the only place I can have a proper whinge I think everyone else just goes glassy eyed when I complain of being tired.

I have just been presented with 10 fresh mackerel caught by a neighbour this afternoon so once I've finished moaning here its off to fillet a few fish, never done it before. Not exactly a rest on the sofa with a cup of tea.

Hi all,

Not posted for a while, been to staying with some friends for a few days, it was lovely to get away. Feel enormous too, i have put on loads of weight (1stone 8lb) but put on nearly 4stone with DS. Really suffering with heartburn, just drinking gaviscon and drinking milk to help to relieve it.

Bye for now x

hansnava · 23/07/2008 21:11

hi all,
really happy today ive just ordered my pushchair off the internet and ive just won a bid for a carseat off of ebay. so thats that sorted out.

apart from being happy about that im in agony with spd with a side of siatica thrown in. might have to follow my midwifes advice and go to drs for referral to physio.

hope u all well

ronshar · 23/07/2008 21:28

Rowanmac. You could be the first October lady to have her baby. Not yet though, bit too soon. I hope all stays where it should be for you. Are you wearing one of those lovely strap/belt things? My friend had to wear one for her second pregnancy and she said it was bloody marvelous for the relief from pain in belly, pelvis, back, legs etc.

We have finally got all baby stuff down from the loft. Unfortunately our pram from DD2 is still in mint condition so I am unable to con DH into a new one.. I have been walking round everywhere staring into prams to see what make they are and to get an idea of which one I would like. I have decided that if I was having twins or needed a double it would be the Jane powertwin. It looks brill. Sadly I shall have to have my old Silver Cross.

sparkles definately taking alot out of me this time, I was quite fit before having others used to exercise regularly was jogging up to 20+ weeks with DD who was born 5 years ago, can't even walk properly at the moment! Maybe its the fact that I now have more children to look after and I have aged quite a few years since having my last one. This is the longest break between having children, although that wasn't the plan, I had a m/c last April and again in September. I have been prescrbed Iron tablets before with most of the children, but seem to get looked after much better a few years ago I usually stopped them a few weeks before the birth as made the terrible mistake of taking them up to birth with first DS, constipation was so bad ended up with piles, and after the birth I could not go the loo, had the most terrible wind pains for a few days, ended up having a midwife having to insert a suppository (think thats what you call them) Oh the joys of pregnancy and birth!

snowymum · 23/07/2008 23:01

bethoo I had really bad constipation a couple of weeks ago, and started eating 3 prunes a day and they work wonders! i'm regular as clockwork now. Well worth it!

On the note of poo, I have have a shit day. We moved house 2 months ago into a house that we plan on staying in for at least 5 years, and we've spent all the time since decorating, or paying decorators most of the time, buying and assembling furniture from ikea and ebay, hanging curtains, making the nursery, scouring the place as it was filthy when we moved in... and today we got a letter saying that the landlords might want to move someone else in next spring when our tenancy agreement comes up for renewal as they are apparantly obliged to make the place available for a member of the Church if they need one. No one ever told us that it would be remotely likely that we would be evicted - we've put our heart and soul and thousands of pounds of our own money into this place and love it so much, and were looking forward to feeling stable and secure here with a new baby (we've had a tough time of it re: houses as we had problem neighbours last time) and were looking for a bit of security and peace - and now it's all shattered. When I woke up this morning I was pottering around the house wondering where I would give birth and set up the pool. Now I feel like my home has been tainted and I can't relax here properly. Maybe it's hormones - but I have been crying all day and I'm not a crying sort of person.

Bums.

Anyway thanks for letting me moan...maybe I'm being unreasonable but you have to feel secure that you'll have a roof over your head, don't you? And if they make me move house again with all the costs and time and stress of that plus a 6 month old baby... erg, going to cry again...

snowymum · 23/07/2008 23:03

oh yeah, and am not sleeping due to SPD and a weird stabbing pain in my sternum that I don't think is heartburn. Am shelling out £75(!!) that I don't have on Monday for a chiropractor who specialises in pregnancy complaints - will report back on whether it's worth it... have cancelled the hypnobirthing course we were booked on as it's about £400 and I just dont' have the money... hope the books and cds are good enough!

bethoo · 24/07/2008 10:14

snowymum how bloody awful for you. i rent a house that is apparantly getting knocked down in a couple of years so i am weary too nd for a long time it did not feel like home. i also decided not to spend money on decorating etc. sad how now that i have tidied it up etc it feels like home and sadly will hve to vacate it and cant afford to rent anything else. i cant claim housing benefits on this house as it is classed as a crown tenancy and i really dont want a council place. would you consider applying for a more stable house? have you checked that it is legal to actually evict someone for that reason? i have never heard of that before yet i suppose landlords can pretty much do what they want! my dp got evicted so the landlord could up the rent and get someone else in. mind you the way he lived i would not want to move in after since tow men lived there and they are not the most forthcoming on cleaning! i can understand how helpless and unsure you are feeling after all you have put into that house

i feel like crap! bleeding out my bottom. spent most of last night hanging over bathroom sink dry retching! then could not get comfy and tummy having those stitchy pains and too hot. dp stayed over but too yukky feeling for nookie so there went my opportunity til next time. only 10 weeks to go i guess....

Emmsy1 · 24/07/2008 11:29

bethoo best get checked over by your GP, or you could end up having horrible piles on the outside when you give birth, DH had to have his operated on they were so bad

Had a phonecall from my M/W team this morning and they actually called to my house to take my bloods! She said I didn't look anaemic but as I was so breathless she wants me to pick up a prescription of pregaday today from Gp's (she rang them!)was told to take 1 a day for now until I get my results on Monday, and we will see how it goes from there! My blood pressure was lower than normal 105/65 but she was not bothered about that, and she didn't test my urine, can't believe that they actually called to my house! Have only ever had a M/W in the house after the birth!!

bethoo · 24/07/2008 11:53

i had the mw do house calls with my last pregnancy but not with this one even though it is the same mw and same health clinic i go to! maybe they do house calls later in preg. weird! hey ho.
thanks about the piles, i had a look yesterday! nto what i like to look at but had to be done and yes they are protruding from the top and bottom! gross out. but i hate putting on the cream!

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 24/07/2008 13:48

oh snowymum that really sucks - do get on the phone to your citizen's advice bureau, they may be able to advise on the legalities. Surely "under obligation" can't mean if there's already someone living in there - go with your big pregnant belly and cry in front of them...they may be under obligation to someone from the Chruch but that also in turn means Christians should be christian about making sure a pregnant woman has somewhere to live with her child

CantSleepWontSleep · 24/07/2008 15:54

snowymum - that's pretty pants isn't it. I can't imagine having to rent with a family, now that it's such a long time since I bought my first house. Must be worth appealing to the landlord's better nature, even if legally he isn't obliged to change his mind.

Yuk for piles bethoo.

Steady on there baby rowanmac - please stay in mummy's tummy for a good while yet!

Well I've spent the day shopping in London today, whilst dd was on nursery school playscheme. Managed to get some clothes for me from H&M (they do a Big is Beautiful range, but not in any stores near me), and some Baby Gap socks for the baby. For the benefit of first timers, baby socks are notoriously bad at staying on, but Gap ones seem to fare better than most.

snowymum · 24/07/2008 16:17

You are all so lovely. Thanks ever so for being so kind. Makes me feel that there is good in the world after all! I am not a Christian, but you would have thought that a vicar of all people wouldn't want his first act in the parish to be turfing out a young mum! I'm just going to try to forget about it until we've heard the results of our appeal. The worst thing is my precious DH who has a very stressful job and lives in london for half the week, adn the only thing that keeps him sane is knowing that he has a secure bolt hole. If that's taken away from him it's just not fair.

Anyway. I'm sure the church will have some sympathy - it's not like it's a callous property developer who has no morals.

Seriously, though, thanks ever so much for saying kind things. it makes a huge difference x

snowymum · 24/07/2008 16:22

Oh, hey, also, top bargain nappy tip I discovered! The Tots Bots website have a 'seconds' section where everything is half price. I got 15 reusable bamboo nappies for £60 which is cheaper than you can get them on ebay (having conducted extensive and exhaustive research on the subject!)

Here's the link: shopping.netsuite.com/s.nl;jsessionid=0a0109441f431398f8a9fa3b4855b811fc886df36470.e3eTaxmKbNaNe34Pa 38Ta38LbNj0?c=427532&sc=7&category=341

snowymum · 24/07/2008 16:23

That didn't work.

Try this link.

Lozza70 · 24/07/2008 21:08

snowymum I hope you get the house sorted out, what a mare after all the settling in you have been doing.

I have the onset of spd unfortunately and it's really getting me down. Had my first good sob of the pregnancy last night not helped by DH being really lovely to me. Luckily I had already been refered to the physio for sciatia so I'm hoping for some enlightenment from them on the spd front. I really hoped to work as long as I can before the birth but the pain combined with commuting via the tube is this weather has really taken it out of me. Feeling very sorry for myself after what has been a trouble free preg

Jambers99 · 25/07/2008 08:43

Morning everyone - got back from holiday on Saturday, but been super-busy at work and it's taken me this long to catch up with all your posts. All fine here, though only just 26 weeks so feel like I'm always playing catch-up! Got 11 weeks left at work now, and finally starting to think about planning stuff for the new baby. Must get those things down from the loft...

Bethoo, I had horrendous piles a couple of months ago, but was too embarrassed to go to the doctor (stupid I know, they must see things like that all the time), and thankfully they just went away by themselves. Did have lots of pain & bleeding for about 2 weeks though.

Perkypopsy, congrats on your bugaboo! I really didn't want one to start with, but DH persuaded me (he liked the 'engineering' apparently) and it's been absolutely fab - very easy to move around, comfy for DS, only downside is that it's quite bulky to fit in the car.

bethoo · 25/07/2008 10:58

i too am feeling sorry for myslef, can barely eat though starving so fele sick through hunger but as soon as i start to eat i feel sick anyway! yestereday i really fancied a crisp sandwich, made it, had a few bites and could nto et anymore, did nto eat after that til this morning. i feel bloated which is really uncomfortable and not helped by the fact that i ma constipated so always feel full iykwim! sorry if tmi!
also feel absolutley shattered, gone from power walking to snails pace now!

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 25/07/2008 11:18

bethoo get some prunes or apricots down you love! sorry you're feeling so rotten....

am off to france for a week on sunday to see my mum, yay! she keeps saying she thinks I'm going maternity too late though, that I won't be able to move around or anything - I'm finishing at 36+3! tried explaining to her that majority of women work til 37 weeks and it impacts on how much money I get if I finish earlier (and work are fine if I find I want to finish earlier and play it by ear)...she's been really supportive throughout the pregnancy and not sticking her oar in at all apart from about this - she's convinced I'm going to give birth at 38 weeks!

bethoo · 25/07/2008 11:24

i am working ti l38 weeks though maternity officially starts on the due date as i have so much leave to take before so taking 2 weeks leave before maternity starts to generally sleep sort out house and labour bag etc!
