bethoo · 22/07/2008 21:47

is it like a stitch emmsy?

twinklytoes · 22/07/2008 22:34

have had 28wk apt today. we don't have scales at home so not sure what I've put on, so jumped on scales in surgery. Was pleasantly surprised - only 4.5lbs and according to scan two weeks ago 2lb of that is baby

starting to sort house out - dh is off for two weeks and we are decorating a bedroom and then moving the girls to new rooms and redecorating dd2's bedroom as the nursery. have ordered new wardrobes today.

hansnava · 22/07/2008 22:58

at twinklytoes 4.5lbs i wish i think ive just gone past the stone mark and im a week behind u.

see now im stuck between the silver cross 3d or pilko pramette mamas and papas which ive just found cheap....er on internet

star6 · 23/07/2008 07:59

hey, been lurking on here, but haven't posted for a while... I woke up this morning with what I think is a chest cold of some sort... coughing, but not persistently, feeling extremely exhausted and a bit of a headache, feeling feverish. I'm 28+3.
I am normally the type of person to just let something like this go away naturally (without medication) - but I'm a bit worried that this far along it might impact the baby - do you think I should call the dr or just wait it out?

mum2jakeyroo · 23/07/2008 08:14

Hello all, glad everyone is doing well. I can't believe I am 28 weeks. I have not organised anything.

CantSleepWontSleep · 23/07/2008 08:57

It shouldn't impact the baby at all star, so it's just a case of wait it out I'm afraid.

bethoo · 23/07/2008 09:10

i am at my desk at work eating a big bag of peanut m&ms and drinking full fat cokle wondering why i have gained over a stone and a half!!!

sparklesandnowinefor14weeks · 23/07/2008 09:24

Hi all I haven't been on here for ages, i hope everyone is well

Twinklytoes - how on earth have you only put on 4.5lbs i think i've put on about 1.5 stone!!

twinklytoes · 23/07/2008 09:32

sparkles - tbh i don't know. I can only put it down to the lack of alcohol calories. I will however, pile it all on now till term (well I did with the girls...)

i would like to try for a water birth thsi time as wanted one last time but couldnt due to having to be monitired.
anyone else had water birth?
cant imagine giving birth in my little sitting room! what with the dog watching me through the dog gate! thinking oh god not another one to harrass me!

Emmsy1 · 23/07/2008 13:51

bethoo it is similar to a stitch, but quite painful. Starting to feel like a real hypochondriac now(not sure how to spell it!)woke up this morning feeling very light headed, has promised to take children into town to spend their birthday money, couldn't stay in town long as started to get an intermittent pain in my right eye, still feeling peculiar light sensitive and my right eye is watering. Managed to pluck up the courage to ring the ante-natal dept only to be told to ring back in 15 mins as there in a meeting. I didn't get as much sleep as normal as I woke up after having a nightmare & couldn't get back to sleep, think it may be someghing to do with thatProbably wont ring them back as dont want to look stupid

bethoo · 23/07/2008 13:52

TMI alert but jsut been to the loo, bloody constipation! anyhoo been straining and when i cleaned myself up after i noticed blood, have i strained too much? it is defo from the back and not the front as wiped both areas! i probably have massive piles! anyone else had this?

bethoo · 23/07/2008 13:55

Emmsy dont be daft, i think that is very inconsiderate to tell you to call back, there should alway be staff available, what if you had gone into labour? would they have made you wait by the phone?
i get a stitch in wither or both sides when i walk fast, all you can do is take it easy. lightheadedness, you may have got out of bed too fast, once again take it easy. if the eye prob continues get it looked at. you may have low blood pressure also with ref to lightheadedness.

wombleprincess · 23/07/2008 14:15

hello first timer, due on 22nd October, 1 dd. loving being pregnant, no problems (touch wood) so far but everyone tells me there is a lot worse to come...
only minor panic is mother in law telling me i had to have everything ready from 7 months... which isnt that soon... ignoring that piece of advise tbh...

dont know how to get on the list... perhaps someoen could help..

Emmsy1 · 23/07/2008 14:21

bethoo thanks for the reassurance, I have always had quite low blood pressure so your probably right.xxx I often have tiny wipes of blood when I have been to the loo. I don't worry about that anymore as I had bad piles after giving birth to my first DS, seem to get it on and off since then, usually get preparation H to relieve symptoms (lots of blood and pain)but I don't treat it if it's just wipes

sparklesandnowinefor14weeks · 23/07/2008 14:22

Emmsey from the sounds of it you have the same thing as me, I have a stitch like pain in my right side most of the time its just a dull pain normally but when i walk or 'do too much' to really aggrivates it and it causes alot of pain

I had to see the consultant a few weeks ago, due to bleeding in my last pg, and i asked him about it, he said it was due to the fact that this was my 5th pg and that with each pg your ligaments soften (and even more so with vaginal births) which is what is causing the pain. He said it mainly affects the right side but can transfer. He said there was no need to do anything about it unless the pain was unbarable all the time or if it transfers to the pelvis

This is your 4th or 5th pg isn't it? so it sounds like it could be the same thing

HTH

sparklesandnowinefor14weeks · 23/07/2008 14:26

as for the lightheadness could your iron levels be low? have you had your 28wk bloods done yet?

ronshar · 23/07/2008 14:28

Sparkles, that answered a question that I couldnt be bothered to ask midwife. Thank you. I get pain in bottom right side. I have to hold on to increasing bump just to get some relief. Now I realise it is because my muscles and ligament are made of rubber.

Has any one applied for Maternity Allowance? I tried this morning what a nightmare. I have been made redundant and apprently it makes it uncertain if you can get it. The people who work for department all seem to shake thier heads and roll thier eyes. Very helpful!

sparklesandnowinefor14weeks · 23/07/2008 14:30

No worries

sorry i don't know about MA, i'm sure soeone will though x

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 23/07/2008 14:55

i get those horrible stitches too - takes me breath away sometimes it's so sharp. Can get them when walking for two mins and not get them when walking for 1/2 hour so seems to be no rhyme nor reason

CantSleepWontSleep · 23/07/2008 16:43

I claimed MA last time ronshar, but will get zippo from anyone this time. I can't see why you wouldn't get it just because you've been made redundant - you only have to have worked a certain number of weeks in the qualifying period.

Welcome wombleprincess. I've added you to the stats, and will post an update soon.

Emmsy1 · 23/07/2008 19:09

sparkles yes, this is my 5th I get it even when I have been sitting down and just stand up, after I have walked a while, it seems to subside, thanks, feel so much better now! You may be right about the Iron, I rang the hosp back today, and after being passed from pillar to post was finally put through to a lovely midwife on the labour ward. She thinks that I may be aneamic, she thinks the eye pain is because of a combination of the 'dry eyes' that I was diagnosed with in December and changes that you get in pregnancy to your eyes. She told me that I need to get my bloods done before I go away on 2nd August for 2 weeks, as my next midwife appt not until 30wks +4, was told to ring my gp's to ask for appt on Monday. The GP's receptionist told me they were fully booked for Monday and that they were not allowed to squeeze anyone in. Rang hosp back, they gave me a direct line for my midwife team, but I have left a message on the answering machine, hoping they can sort me out If not was thinking of asking chemist if they have any 'over the counter' Iron tablets that I can buy? No more pain in my eyes at the moment just light sensitive and still light headed.

sparklesandnowinefor14weeks · 23/07/2008 19:34

Emmsy you should just be able to see a nurse or the midwife for bloods, surely they can 'fit you in' - bloody gp receptionists! [grrr]
