May 10th

you know what Cyteen, i agree entirely, now had it turned up and I didn't like it just because am lardy and don't feel right in anything fair enough but they were terrible quality so even HAD I liked them on I couldn't justify the expense of keeping them

if I'm going to spend £80 on just one thing (which isn't in our budget tbh) then I want to fecking feel like I spent £80 on it, not a market bargin (which am not adverse to but certainly wouldn't buy anything there for £80 lol)

cyteen · 29/03/2008 16:15

It's pretty depressing what some manufacturers think they can get away with re. quality...my friend bought a Versace Versus black shift dress from Harvey Nicks a few years ago, reduced from about £400 to £90 (guess there may have been a clue there, huh?). She wore it to a club and when she got home the dye had bled all over her, colouring her zombie-grey from shoulders to knees. I was shocked! You expect that with £20 cheapies but not poncy labelware.

dizzydixies · 29/03/2008 16:18

pmsl - poor friend, maybe she has super strong sweat?!?

these were clothes from Isabella Oliver and Crave which I would've though would be fab. The IO ones were really flimsy material and not worth the money - really poor
the crave ones were fine quality wise I suppose just not worth £48 for a v neck pale blue top - didn't look nearly £50 worth if you see what I mean?

Shazza2002 · 29/03/2008 16:44

Afternoon all

Well took the day off work yesterday and went shopping. Been again today. Got a couple of maternity tops from H&M and just some bigger tops from M&S. They are kind of holiday clothes so still planning on going in my head, and being that my blood pressure was completely normal first time at last ante-natal check I'm feeling positive.

Plus, have now managed to buy baby something too. As we don't know what flavour we're getting white is the only option, but there seems to be a real lack of it in the shops. But I suppose more people find out nowadays and that could be why.

Not sure if anybody noticed on the last thread but I think I'va managed to post the scan picture on my profile, baby was sucking it's thumb, so a great picture even if I do say so myself

dizzydixies · 29/03/2008 16:54

what a great pic shazza

Shazza2002 · 29/03/2008 17:15

It's great isn't it.

BTW, had a look at the prams in John Lewis again yesterday and have changed my mind. Going to go for Silver Cross Freeway Linear. It's really quite lightweight and easy to push. They do a cargo colour which is Grey, but I've also emailed them to see if they plan on bringing out any other colours

IlanaK · 29/03/2008 17:46

Well, I have been indulging in a little retail therapy Bought a lovely pouch sling for my husband from hotslings which arrived this weekend. He wore it with a dolly in I still have my ring slings from last time which I love, but he needed a sling too.

I also bought some really lovely little rompers from Boden. I have never bought anything from them before and they arrived today and I am realy impressed with the quality - lovely thick cotton and stretchy too. I went online and orderd another!

We don't need a lot for this baby as its the third boy, but its nice to buy a few new things.

VintageGardenia · 29/03/2008 18:46

Hi guys, no news from Confused? Was thinking of her today.

Bad news, dizzy, on the clothes front. I had one of IO tops and was pleased with it when it arrived - was it the trousers that were from there? I'd say they will be good about refunds, but all the extra hassle of sending stuff back & the disappointment is such a pain. Did you order that dress for the wedding though?

I have had a weird day, got all sobby because my sil told me I shouldn't go the hospital I am going to, that it gets sued all the time & she would never go there & wouldn't let anyone in her family go there etc so I got very and had to creep off for a cry. Normally I can brush stuff off, just felt weepy today. So on my way home I crashed weeping MORE into my friend's house and she bustled me out on a walk with the dogs and made me feel better. I REALLY don't want to turn into a stupid fragile weepy thing though.

My sister gave me two huge bags of maternity gear! Tops, a worky dress, a party dress (fab), trousers, the works. She is an angel sent from heaven. Insta-wardrobe! I'm delighted, how kind of her.

Shazza yours is one of the best scan pics I have ever seen! It's so clear, and your baby looks so sweet.

Have not read all posts yet, just skimmed looking for Confused.

TwilightSurfer · 29/03/2008 18:52

Should I be worried that the kid in my belly has been kicking the crap out of me on and off for more than 24 hours now?? I realize there's not a lot of room BUT MY GOODNESS!!

Dizzy I too have had a bit of disappointment today as another ebay item was on my doorstep when I returned from lunch. The "wonderful" one-piece bathing suit is made to fit an extremely tiny person. Something tells me it must be sized wrong. Oh and the spring coat I won on ebay earlier in the week is just BUTT UGLY in RL. So that's $30US I've tossed in the trash unless I can turn around and resell it on ebay.....

DH drove me around so I could return some of retail therapy items from yesterday. I had to argue with one clerk because she failed to give me the 40% discount on a dress for DD that I ended up keeping. She "didn't understand." I ended up taking the manager to the rear of the store, holding up the same dress next to the SALE sign and pointing out the numbers on my receipt...same item number BUT without SALE price. They had failed to give me the same discount on another dress but I was returning it anyway....made sure it got returned at the full retail price NOT the discounted price. OKAY I'm getting off my soap box now.

Otherwise, pissy day here too. It's not raining raining just drizzle. YUK!! DH and DD are curled up with me now in our big bed....they're snoring and I'm typing.

TwilightSurfer · 29/03/2008 18:54

Shazza I agree with VG, you've got an excellent scan pic!

VintageGardenia · 29/03/2008 19:11

TS sounds so cosy at your place! Think we will do the same thing, cold and rainy out, time to light the fire and curl up.

dizzydixies · 29/03/2008 19:23

VG snap out of it you big pansy!!!!!

there - did that help? did it shock you out of your weepy? Am very of your matty lot - lovely sister! I have a couple of the IO wraps and they're brilliant but was SO not impressed with the stuff delivered. Very disappointing. The piccchu stuff, with the dress, hasn't turned up yet so fingers crossed, have also ordered from mamas&papas and next so something has to be semi decent ffs!

TS good for you - stupid arsey shop assistant

VG confused is Miamla and she's posted on a thread in pg with a quick update - her GP seems to have been of great help thank goodness as her MW and antenatal were fark all help to her

VintageGardenia · 29/03/2008 19:25

Coo dizzy I have completely gone off you now!

dizzydixies · 29/03/2008 19:30

ggrrrrr, come on, find that inner bitch again lol

dh is now appauled at the way am speaking to you and says its no wonder I have to resort to virtual friends

look at this one have just found, very girly and pretty - not exactly my style but tis nice

dress

TwilightSurfer · 29/03/2008 19:38

Dizzy I really like that dress. Oh and tell DH you don't sound any different that my RL friends so just tell him to go away...MN is YOUR time.

So do you think it's bad of me to take the items I just got off of ebay and resell them on ebay?? I don't want a profit...just my money back. Neither seller had a return policy.

dizzydixies · 29/03/2008 19:39

no, put them back on and don't waste a second thinking of it. you can't try before you buy with ebay

VintageGardenia · 29/03/2008 19:39

I guess if I was looking for tea and sympathy I'm in the wrong place! You're right, I should just grow a pair...

That is very cute, doesn't even look like a maternity dress. Hey I can lend you a gorge simple black dress my sister just gave me, it's v pretty knee length with a gathery bit over bump, empire line, black jersey, no sleeves, v neck. Is perhaps a bit more party-y than weddingy though, you prob don't want black?

VintageGardenia · 29/03/2008 19:40

I can't see anything wrong with flogging the gear again on ebay. Nothing at all. Even if you DO make a profit, you are perfectly entitled to buy and resell.

dizzydixies · 29/03/2008 19:42

PMSL - we're watching dog borstal for the first time and there is a right Sgt Major bloke on it so was inspired for a moment there VG!! will behave again [meep]

will keep that in mind VG as am currently hating everything but think it is more to do with me that the everything

TwilightSurfer · 29/03/2008 19:45

YOU'RE RIGHT!! I shouldn't think twice. And you know what, I have a couple of other splurges that turned out to be duds that I could also put on ebay as well. Looks like I have JOB to do on Monday (heaven forbid I do anything today that I can put off till later).

VG {{{hugs}}}

VintageGardenia · 29/03/2008 19:46

Nah don't behave, we need a bit of grit here! Ouf, shattered, scrambling onto sofa for rest of evening, Master & Commander is on!

TwilightSurfer · 29/03/2008 19:47

Tummy's grumbling here....must seek out food source.............

dizzydixies · 29/03/2008 19:49

TS- don't be giving her hugs we're trying to toughen her up a bit

ooh not seen that VG I think we'll be watching 'dirty sexy money' then bed as we're both shattered, dh was early shift and I had a hell of a day with dd2 so thats worn me right down

can't decide whether or not to tell dh I bought profiteroles or just stay quiet and eat them all myself with he is late shift tomorrow

TwilightSurfer · 29/03/2008 19:56

DIRTY SEXY MONEY??? You MUST be watching reruns. I LOVE that show but haven't seen any new episodes since the writer's strike ended.

And it's only one little hug for VG then I expect her to straighten up. Weeping is wasteful, use that energy to clean or something I always say. MUCH MORE PRODUCTIVE. Works well when angry too.

dizzydixies · 29/03/2008 20:00

PMSL reruns?!?!? its our first series - you forget how backwards we are over here!
am desperate for second half of Ugly Betty/Lost and new series of Grays Anatomy
