I did a little more retail therapy today I needed bras that fit. I had tried Bravissimo and Figleaves already and ended up with badly fitting ones. So today went to Marks and get really cheapy ones, but they fit great! So, of course while I was there, I bought a few little bits for Saul - a cute newborn outfit, some babygros and some vests. The only problem with buying for the baby is it makes me want to buy more and we don't need anything!

I am waiting patiently (not so!) for my new rocking glider chair to come. They said 4-8 weeks for delivery. It feels like it has been that long, but it has probably only been about 3 weeks.

I also had a lovely suprise tonight - a delivery of an orchid type plant and a Thank You card from a lady I helped with breastfeeding (I am a bf counsellor). It was a real suprise and totally unnecissary, but made me feel really nice

I am 23 weeks tomorow

TwilightSurfer · 30/03/2008 19:14

I like Gabriel. A friend has a Gabriella, Gage and Gehrig. Saul's nice too IlanaK. Seth is good. GEEZ all these good boy names !! I think DH likes Maggie but will have to start a thread to help find a proper middle name. All my pea brain can come up with is Maggie May but DH ISN'T a Rod Stewart fan.

Will get a little retail therapy this afternoon too....after I go to the funeral home. My uncle died on Friday. I HATE OPEN CASKET EVENTS. DH is going to stay home with DD so after I sit with the family for a while I'll sneak out for a personal moment. I'm really not a cold person...this uncle divorced my aunt but remained part of the family due his relationship with my other uncles. With my father in Hawaii, it's necessary that I represent our family wing.

Feeling quite uncomfortable this evening. I must be growing again. OUCH!!

TwilightSurfer · 30/03/2008 19:24

okay have just created my own little thread to find a middle name to go with Maggie..... wish me luck.

dizzydixies · 30/03/2008 19:31

IlanaK!!!! have you settled on a name and didn't tell me?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

and what a lovely gift to receive, you've obviously helped her no ends - I was lucky enough to have a wonderful health visitor to help me feed dd2 as she was a nightmare - will be bending your ear when the time comes!

PetitFilou1 · 30/03/2008 19:33

TS sorry about the funeral. I've never had to go to an open casket one (shudder) doesn't sound nice.

Maggie Rose? Maggie Ruth? Maggie Elizabeth? Do you have a long or a short surname and how many syllables? Also wondered - if you like Maggie and May do you like Mabel? Or Matilda?

Ilana 10 points for being a bf counsellor. I phoned one after had dd -she was great.

dizzydixies · 30/03/2008 19:36

TS am not taking the huff that you've taken your name quest elsewhere [sob sob sob sob]

CaptainCaveman · 30/03/2008 19:36

My friend has just had a little boy called Gabriel - they shorten it to Gabe - I think it's lovely. I love Saul too. With so many names out there, how do you choose which one?!?!?!?!?!?!? I quite like Noah as well.

I think Emma is lovely......(shhh, its my rl name!!)

Didn't get much retailing in - ds was too busy playing cbeebies so I did the ironing instead (huh, some exchange there!)

Just off to soak in the bath with ds so will catch you later.

OP posts:
IlanaK · 30/03/2008 19:46

Sorry Dizziedixies! I thought you knew I had settled on Saul. The boys are already calling the baby Saul so I can't go back now!

Captain Caveman - I love the name Noah. I would have loved to call this baby Noah but my husband vetoed it.

I am more than happy to give my contact details to anyone that wants them for bf counselling by the way. I am on both the ABM helpline as well as the National Helpline for the central London areas anyway so if you lie in those areas, you are likely to get me on the other end of the phone!

dizzydixies · 30/03/2008 19:50

its a beautiful name with a beautiful name, great choice, well done

am very jealous, I am hopeless at picking names, hence the reason am such a farking expert on them

will definately be in touch as I bf dd1 for 8 months no problem but dd2 was HELLISH, it was only maternal guilt that got me to 6months with her, taking it one feed at a time so am hoping this time will be easier
lovely offer of you - thank you

VintageGardenia · 30/03/2008 19:57

Oooh Ilana I could have done with you ten years ago! And might well call on you this time round, I imagine it's going to be like the first time all over again, after all this time.

Still tired and weepy today, don't know what's wrong with me, so going to try and get a chunk of work done this eve & take my mind of my boring self. DS has just given a spontaneous hug and I love you, which is always a cheerer-upper!

Saul's a fantastic name. Re. Maggie, TS, would you plan to give a full Margaret & call Maggie? CC I know a very beautiful, intelligent and kind little Emma of 8, has great associations for me.

dizzydixies · 30/03/2008 19:59

evening VG your ds sounds lovely. my dds are running up and down the dining kitchen screaming and laughing and generally driving me bonkers, not long till bed me thinks - for all of us lol

IlanaK · 30/03/2008 20:05

Whenever I hear the name Emma (which I love) I think of that episode of Friends when Rachel gave birth and could not come up with a name. Then Monica told her the name she had already picked out for the baby she would have one day and it was Emma - she then "gave" the name to Rachel to use.

Buckets · 30/03/2008 20:06

Twilight, pre-funeral or even funeral viewings are really uncommon here so nobody's going to think ill of you for dreading it! I only know about them from US TV and the Stephanie Plum books.

I was enjoying singing 'tap tap WAKE UP MAGGIE...' every time I got dressed/undressed. Was hoping to subtly brainwash DH to permanently associate it with the bump .

dizzydixies · 30/03/2008 20:46

dd1 is Ella but my dad took about 2yrs before he stopped calling her Emma if that counts?!?

libbyssister · 30/03/2008 23:06

oh my god. I've not been on here for a week and there's pages and pages to catch up on and a whole new thread! And I'm trying to watch Brothers and Sisters while I'm typing - s'not working!

OK will go back and see what you've all been up to...

TwilightSurfer · 30/03/2008 23:26

Well ladies I failed to go shopping because I ended up on my feet for two straight hours gossiping with family I've not seen in YEARS. Avoided the casket room as best I could. Fortunately my aunt didn't drag me over to it to pay my respects as she did at my grandmother's funeral. How nice that they don't put you through that kind of misery in the UK.

I am very pleased with my Maggie thread. I feel a bit more confident about the choice. DD's been calling the baby Maggie all day so I really hope DH begins to like it. He said it was okay which is not a veto...so good start. For those that asked I do want to use Maggie not the more formal versions. I just imagine this cute, curly-blond-headed, giggley, little girl who is friends with everyone when I hear the name Maggie. That's kind of how I imagine my little one at the moment. I am pregnant so that thought could change at a moments notice.

Ilanak I think of that Friends episode too when I here Emma. And go ahead and add me to your list of those who will be asking loads of BF questions in a few weeks. I failed to BF DD because I just didn't have support in place to help me get it going. I'm older and wiser now and want to try again.

VG I hope the work helped you. I'm a bit tired myself today but more huffy than weepy...too bad for those living me huh.

libbyssister · 31/03/2008 00:20

Phew, that took a long time to get through, but got there in the end

Hazie - We had the Silver Cross car seat and I don't think our seat belts are particularly long. It was always fine...

TS - I like Maggie A LOT!

Had a long rubbish week. Full of cold, congestion, coughs that made me sick (I had to pull over a quarter of a mile away from my house to be sick behind some bins - nice) and headaches headaches headaches. DS also hasn't been well and has 'naughty poos' which hurt when they come out. Horrid to see him sitting there crying and trembling

But this will be a better week as it's my birthday and scan on Thursday. Yey!

Anyone else getting that triangle belly thing when they move from lying to sitting up? Or is that just me?

Is anyone else losing weight? Or is that just me too?

I'm thinking of ordering this dress for the wedding I'm going to in May.

libbyssister · 31/03/2008 00:32

I've also sorted out the photo access thing... I think.

Right! Bed now!

TwilightSurfer · 31/03/2008 00:50

Libby good job catching up. Sorry you and DS have been under the weather in more ways than one. Love the dress.

cyteen · 31/03/2008 09:03

Libby, that dress is gorgeous!

dizzydixies · 31/03/2008 09:25

libby its called 'doming' and apparently its very bad for your stomach muscles - don't do it!!! roll onto your side and up that way - physio told me last week

lovely dress Libby - you'll have noticed by now that I've given up and am going in a binbag potato sack combo [humph]

hope its as sunny where you all are today bloody cold as still without boiler but sunny at least!

HazieAndBaby · 31/03/2008 09:30

Oh, Shazza, I love yr scan pic, how cute is that!!! It?s so clear as well.

Baby is kicking like mad at the moment, must be excited about getting photographed later. Either that or it?s the raisin wheats I just ate! Feeling totally different about scan today than I did at the 12wk one. I?m more excited today whereas I was st-scared last time!! Good luck with yours pertelote, you?ll be fine! Please come back and tell us about it later.

That?s not so good about yr clothes dizzy. I have returned every single pair of trousers/jeans that I?ve ordered from Next as they just don?t seem to sit right. At least you can just take them right back to the shop here and don?t have to faff around with posting them back etc. I really like the dress that you put the pic up of on Saturday (does that sentence even make sense?!), are you going to order that one too? Yr bedroom must be like a fitting room!

We got our new car yesterday, yay! It?s brill poppysocks, yr DH will love it! My DH wasn?t feeling well on Saturday so I went with him yesterday to pick it up, so I got my way in the end! (He was going by himself to begin with, I didn't like that idea, I'm too nosey!) He thinks some voodoo was involved but definitely not, I lost my doll a while ago? It?s so comfy and looks big enough for the pram we like so fingers crossed. We?re going along to Mothercare at the weekend to try it in the car, but won?t buy it from there as the Glasgow Pram Centre has it for about £50 cheaper there. Oh, and thanks libbyssister, yet more reasons for me to just get that pram! Yay!

I'm glad the funeral wasn't as bad as you thought TwilightSurfer. Obviously no-one ever likes going to them, but it's not so bad afterwards when you can catch up with family you haven't seen for a while. Hope you're feeling okay now.

xx

HazieAndBaby · 31/03/2008 09:32

I forgot to say as well libbyssister, I just looked at your pics and how cute is your DS!!

dizzydixies · 31/03/2008 09:34

morning hazie that dress is on order too - am hoping to have first 2 lots sent back before next 3 turn up of dh will stop breathing lol

what pram have you decided on then? am glad you likethe car, we're still deciding on which on to try to get finance to get lol
think I may take dh test driving this week although he says its ultimately down to me as I'll be driving it most. I've chosen our last 2 cars so lets hope this one doesn't turn out to be a lemon

TS am glad funeral wasn't as grim as expected.

Its Maggie Sophia or Maggie Olivia for me!

HazieAndBaby · 31/03/2008 09:45

Morning dizzy! Can't belive yr on MN, that doesn't happen very often... I think I really like Silver Cross Linear Freeway one. I was over at my friend's on Saturday night and she said that she was going to suggest that one to me withouth knowing that I was thinkg about it - I think it's fate!! On a different topic, her DD was still awake when I went in - she's 6mths old and is soooo gorgeous!! Can't believe I have to wait another 4.5mths for my little one, but I'm quite happy to at the same time!

Just looking at yr name choices TS, I love Maggie! It makes me think of Maggie Gyllenhaal (sp?) I thought I recognised the name Maggie Grace from somewhere and remembered she's the actress from Lost that played Shannon - I really need to stop watching so much tv! I like dizzy's suggestions too.
