I won't be able to do the box room/dumping ground/spare room to be nursery until after weekend of 5th july as friend and her ds are coming over for dd's 5th birthday and won't have anywhere to put them otherwise

its all neutrally decorated and newish carpet so all it needs is decluttered and when I start getting the baby stuff down from my aunts loft I can put it in there - only gives me a couple of weeks though

VintageGardenia · 12/04/2008 14:33

We are similar, white walls and new carpet but full of junk my Important Files and Boxes.

dizzydixies · 12/04/2008 14:40

gosh, who knew sex chatters had such an amount of stuff, I always imagined you just got on with it whilst doing the ironing etc

VintageGardenia · 12/04/2008 14:52

Well it's really just the boxes of different towelling dressing gowns, Bridget Jones knickers and comfy slippers that I wear while on the phone. Other than that my only work-related gear is a few business cards and a bit of blu-tack for the phone boxes.

Does anyone even USE phone boxes any more? Do we still have phone boxes?

cyteen · 12/04/2008 17:23

Hello all,

Well, it's pissing down here today (all day) and I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself because my sex drive is still MINA (missing in non-action) It's really freaking me out, I never thought I'd be the one to struggle with reconciling pregnant-me with sexy-me. DP seems to find me as attractive as ever, and he's still gorgeous to me, but I just don't seem to be interested in sex. Where is my libido? Has anyone seen it?

Sorry for self-indulgent post, I'll shut up now. Did have something else I was going to say, but alas, pregnancy brain has eaten it!

dizzydixies · 12/04/2008 17:40

VG am pmsl at your tools of the trade - do you have a headset phone thingy so you can work hands free

cyteen you may just be stuck in a bit of a rut and once you give it a shot you mind find you surprise yourself! I don't think its a lack of desire but maybe a lack of energy and motivation? try in the morning maybe when you've had some sleep?

alittlebitshy · 12/04/2008 18:29

oh good lord - i had an image of the hands free thing!!!

on the sex drive front... well.. i've never had much of one, so dh thought all his christmases had come at once when we were ttc (and could even be heard to groan good humouredly about frequency at certain points lol). Tbh no action since my bfp. We prob might have got back to it but with the bleeding earlier in the pg i'm too scared. Dh being amazing about it and has not complained once.

Can't belive i just sat and told you all that

dizzydixies · 12/04/2008 18:42

ALBS mine was the same due to heavy bleeding from 12wks onwards, when we finally gave it a whirl it was me that had to do all the 'work' as he didn't want to damage anything lol

he seems to have found his groove again though

PetitFilou1 · 12/04/2008 19:37

Hello all
Is the weather as crappy with you lot as it is here? Fortunately we've been in Bathstore/B&Q/Waitrose etc etc for most of the day (poor dcs have been pretty tolerant).

Re sex drive - we've managed it more this time than last two pgs but it ain't happening a whole lot! Cyteen, really don't worry about it. You'll get your groove back afterwards. When I was pregnant with ds I was told I'd had a miscarriage and when we found out I hadn't and was actually 20 weeks pregnant dh wouldn't go near me for fear of something going wrong again. It then took me about 6 months afterwards before I felt vaguely like it (I am psycho bitch on wheels with sleep deprivation) Dh will happily say though that our sex life actually improved in between ds and dd being born - I'd agree with him.

VG I am intrigued now about what you are teaching!

Is anyone else getting Braxton Hicks already? I'm getting some powerful ones but usually when I am overtired - think the lo is trying to tell me something.

VintageGardenia · 12/04/2008 19:41

Erm dizzy re the handsfree that's really more at the client end.

Re sex drives, what all the books say is don't stress over lack of sex but do strive to maintain physical intimacy, which is easier, so go to sleep holding each other, kiss when you wake, etc etc and so long as you maintain that the sex part will come bursting back into your life at some point. "They" say if you don't do this then it's doubly hard once the wee one arrives. Also for those with scares, bleeding, etc, it's not really surprising to be a bit iffy about it.

VintageGardenia · 12/04/2008 19:42

Trust me, the teaching is very dry and boring!!

PetitFilou1 · 12/04/2008 19:46

VG I'm still intrigued....! I work in policy to do with the health needs of young people who offend, not exactly the sexy end of things either! But actually pretty interesting - to me anyway. I could bore on the topic now and didn't know anything about it 18 months ago!

VintageGardenia · 12/04/2008 19:58

Well some of the teaching I do is young people who have sort of been bypassed in some way or another by "the system", so maybe chucked out of schools, perhaps having some form of intellectual or physical disability, perhaps having been drug users, perhaps having literacy difficulties, perhaps having been undereducated because of dyslexia etc not having been diagnosed while they were at school. I also work with people recovering from e.g. brain injuries, strokes, etc, but that's more rehabilitative.

The writing is separate from all that.

Your job sounds interesting, pf.

VintageGardenia · 12/04/2008 19:59

Then I also teach workshops in jewellery making, creative writing, drawing - again usually in a rehabilitative context.

VintageGardenia · 12/04/2008 20:02

And I write for a magazine.

What does everyone else do?

dizzydixies · 12/04/2008 20:38

good grief VG sounds fantastic, when on earth did you find time to get pregnant

I work for the local fuzz

alittlebitshy · 12/04/2008 20:49

VG wow - that is a lot of stuff - and all fascinating!

DD do you rally? What do you do?!

I work (v v v part time) in a law library (trained as a librarian then got pg with dd so never really went far along the post qualification career path).

dizzydixies · 12/04/2008 20:57

ALBS I put myself through uni working in the library and my first full time job away from uni was in a library too - have a love of books to go with it too!!

I work in the control room answering 999 calls and managing & dispatching cops to incidents. I also work at events like G8 and T in the Park

am also putting myself through college again as a distance learner student for an HNC as my degree has got me nowhere, I could do the job I do without having ever done it

CaptainCaveman · 12/04/2008 21:15

Good evening ladies - we are nearing the end of our thread again!!

We've had a fun-packed (ahem) day - shopping for holiday clothes. Went to matalan and got scared by the fact i couldn't pull the size 12s much beyond my thighs. I also made the fatal error of looking in the mirror and was horrified to see what stared back, so I gave up and bought a new duvet cover instead. Am considering wearing it tbh.

The man who made me cry wouldn't send out a new school admission letter with the correct date on it. They'd actually dated it 18 days before it was sent, thus making them look like they've done their job properly. When I asked the chap to send a letter with the proper date on (ie 8th April) he said "it won't make a difference to the content of the letter". I think the fact that I started crying soon after that prevented me from saying "I know that you fucking knob head, thats not what I'm asking you". However, there were no grown ups in the office that day so i had to make do with him. My beef is that I have 18 days less than everyone else to prepare my appeal. His beef is that he has no brain.

Ahhh, that feels better.

OP posts:
PetitFilou1 · 12/04/2008 21:17

VG Sounds connected with what I do really - obviously a lot of the children who end up in prison/secure children's homes/secure training centres have been socially excluded for one reason or another. Doesn't sound dry to me at all. And I'm interested that you also do the more creative stuff. My writing is my strong point but I am not cut out for teaching and my sisters got all the creative genes in the family...
dizzy My ds would be SO impressed with your job

CaptainCaveman · 12/04/2008 21:18

Forgot to add - I am a District Nurse but rarely lay hands on 'real' people anymore. My official title is Clinical Lead District Nursing, which means mostly operational and strategic management and leadership (hence the post grad diploma I've just finished in public services management). I'd go back to patient care if they paid me as much as they do now to do it!!

OP posts:
PetitFilou1 · 12/04/2008 21:20

CC Aw you poor thing. I know how stressful it is.....What sort of things are you going to put in the appeal letter?

CaptainCaveman · 12/04/2008 21:26

We have decided not to appeal after all! But have still sent the complaint off as the fella was just plain wrong and his manager should know what a chump he is.

having looked at the admission criteria it seems HIGHLY unlikely that we would win an appeal anyway so I don't want to put myself through the stress. Ds will still be going to a decent school so it really isn't the end of the world - he just won't be going to the only church controlled school in our area (ds and I are Christians - Mr Caveman isn't bothered but hopes my faith will save him )

OP posts:
PetitFilou1 · 12/04/2008 21:30

In that case I wouldn't appeal either CC. For me it would have meant taking an ok school rather than a good school and having to drive with a (very) newborn, 3 year old dd and ds every day when the school was literally a 2 min walk from our house...

dizzydixies · 12/04/2008 21:30

petit they're always more impressed with dh as he is an actual polis, I try not to be offended, he does get to drive the stripey car and wear the riot gear lol

he was on the BBC on thurs night through his work bless him

am a bit worried that the kids will grow up with a blatant disregard for the law and all things police like as they have very little discipline from dh as he's such a bit softie

CC always ALWAYS had nothing but admiration for nurses, couldn't do it at all - mil is a sister at local hosp in N.I and FIL a paramedic so am hoping the need to heal and cope with any situations has worn off on dh lol
