alittlebitshy · 12/04/2008 13:35

lol lol lol. THAT was a post and a half to come back to reading!!!!

dd my dd now has the play dough out. down to last 2 tubs so MUST get more. Have added to my list hat is should have been working my way through while shopping today.....

Actually a good job i didnt go out. feleing crap again. am a bit dizzy and i think my ear is aching. gaaaah. have had ear infections on and off for the last year but they don't often hurt.

dizzydixies · 12/04/2008 13:37

right thats it ALBS get yourself off to the GP tomorrow and make sure its not a little infection please

don't be lured in by VGs sex chat - she's a minx you know

dd2 now in pram - not best pleased but in desperate need of a sleep and dd1 watching a Winnie pooh film whilst wearing chicky deely boppers hair band - now am I meant to take that seriously!?!

dizzydixies · 12/04/2008 13:38

for fark sake, dd1 has just announced that my tummy is even bigger than Poohs [harumph]

alittlebitshy · 12/04/2008 13:38

PS my mum came to hunt for our missing carycot and it seriously seems to have vanished. . We'll send our lodger into the loft to check there one last time, but eeeek. how did we lose it?? Have wheels and (skanky - left in garage too long with milk stains on it)seat unit and hood and covers and rain covers and so on but not carrycot.

Feel really bad about it.

Will have to think about new one now...

{slightly excited about it but worried about cost)

dizzydixies · 12/04/2008 13:40

oh dam shame ALBS, if dh doesn't change his mind and agree we need a new double buggy mine will be getting shut in the boot [oops]

there is always ebay lol thats where I'm looking! have you got one in mind?

dancerandprancer is that another boy I see? well done!

dizzydixies · 12/04/2008 13:41

VG here's a black and green one which is nice for £245 so far? worth keeping an eye on it all once you've decided

cgi.ebay.co.uk/Jane-Slalom-Pro-Matrix-Cup-Travel-System-Coal-H16_W0QQitemZ270227200813QQihZ017QQcate goryZ66700QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

VintageGardenia · 12/04/2008 13:44

ALBS that's not great that you're still off-colour. If your GP is not open tomorrow I think you should go today. What harm can it do? Would your DH be around to take you, or would you have to get yourself there with dd? Dizziness I think can be related to blood pressure? Anyone else know? But I suppose could be non-preg if you do have an ear thing, they can affect balance.

PS don't put playdough on your shopping list just stay in where you're comfy and make it here are some recipes. The first one, non-cook, is the easiest, and you can add food colouring, glitter etc.

Thanks for ebay link dizzy, does it sound stchoopid for me to ask are the things on ebay normally new or 2nd hand? Cos the first one there is 399. (Obv I appreciate you have to snoop a bit.)

VintageGardenia · 12/04/2008 13:46

Aaaarrgh DP has gone rowing & I cannot progress pushchair sitch without him, I wish to bid!!!!! I wonder how hurt he would be if I chose alone...

Fairly.

alittlebitshy · 12/04/2008 13:47

see i just don't know what i'd get. I had something like this before.

Then got a m and p pliko which i love - but I seriously want as flat as flat can be for a newborn (hence the carrycot) so don't want to use that yet.

quite like ta da but when it is not pramish it is v similar to my pliko, so feel guilty. Plus i gather that it is a bit of a pfaff (though not impossible) to take up and down for car when in pram mode...

alittlebitshy · 12/04/2008 13:50

my gp not open today or tomorrow. there is an out of hours one up at hospital if need be but i hate it there and from experience feel like they seriously are not interested and might prescrible no preg friendly things or not take a good look at me.

argh - don't panic me about dizziness being blood pressure related. been panicking about things like pre eclampsia (my mum mentioned it - she had it with me - and worried me) which is just daft...

dizzydixies · 12/04/2008 13:50

VG is there pram shop near you that stocks Jane stuff? do I remember you wanted to use it for jogging and dog walking?

its not light and doesn't fold very small and also well worth getting a demo before buying to make sure you're happy with it - lot of cash to fork out

ALBS the silvercross ones are lovely, friends who we were out with had one yesterday - some of them have a lie flat thing going on too

dizzydixies · 12/04/2008 13:51

VG there is an option at the left hand side to chose new or used, I always chose new - no harm in looking there first

VintageGardenia · 12/04/2008 13:53

See I wondered that too ALBS how can the pushchairs really be suitable from birth to e.g. 5 years as some advertise? I know that in the very early days you're not out walking much but they do seem somehow wrong for a teeny newborn which surely needs ultra-fine suspension and flat as possible as well as secure as possible.

VintageGardenia · 12/04/2008 13:56

lol dizzy I want it for dog walking DP wants it for jogging. I do not jog. I mean, I might miss a call. I haven't seen Jane stuff here but will ask around.

ALBS I'm really sorry can I reiterate I know nothing, just wild guessing and I'm sorry if I did that irresponsibly. Please don't panic.

dizzydixies · 12/04/2008 13:57

my dd1 can still fit in the Jane and she is 4.8yrs - she doesn't use it though she just sits in it to torment dd2!!

dribble drool!

dizzydixies · 12/04/2008 13:59

VG mothercare have them? Johnsons - one of the links I gave you are the european suppliers and they're based in Belfast I think, you could give them a call or check on line for a list of suppliers - when I got ours for dd1 I could only find them in a tiny wee shop in a nearby town but now mothercare have them it shouldn't be too hard?

tis BRILLIANT for walks, we live near a nature reserve and beach and its done it all - the lie flat car seat works as a carrycot for baby and can sit up when a wee bit older then the buggy seat kicks in and its wide too

would just hate for you to take my word on it!

dizzydixies · 12/04/2008 14:00

front tyre can be swivelling for walking OR fixed for dp's jogging - mine has never done jogging so can't help you there lol

longwayfromhome · 12/04/2008 14:03

re: ebay - dizzy, I had a look at that jane travel system but the page on ebay doesn't mention that it comes with a carrycot - would you have to buy this bit separately ... ? not that they ship here, but just a thought.

Re: Moses basket to sleep in (it was on someone's list of things for a baby). Miriam Stoppard suggests buying something to sleep in for the first few months and then a cot a bit later on as well - I think that we were going to just buy a cot planning to use it from birth for the first two years - is there any reason that I am missing why this isn't a good idea?

Anyway, have a nice Saturday all, and thank you for the name comments.

VintageGardenia · 12/04/2008 14:03

Mothercare here don't have them, they are in the catalogue so I can get one through M'care but can't pop in for a practice iyswim. Sounds v good though.

alittlebitshy · 12/04/2008 14:04

VG don't panic - you didn't worry me per se. Just said one of the things that has been worrying me. I'm sure all is fine but just worried......

VintageGardenia · 12/04/2008 14:07

lwfh the reason I put Moses basket is mainly because DP's family have one they have all used. But I think the advantages over a cot would be that in the early days the baby can sleep in it wherever you are, kitchen, drawing room, garden, your mother's house, etc etc. But also perhaps when they are very weeny it's nice to be in something small and snug, not as large as a cot. From the point of view of health & safety I don't think there's any reason for them not to sleep in a cot from birth, and most cots have adjustable "floors" so you can have it raised up at the start, and of course you put the baby "feet to foot" so it can't wriggle down during the night.

Have just had a flashback to the smell of baby & blanket at night. Yum.

dizzydixies · 12/04/2008 14:11

VG the johnston website just lied to me then and told me mothercare in the st stephens centre is a stockist

stockists

LWFH mine are in a moses basket at the bed for the first wee while for ease of feeding and then in the cot - its not for long though as they come out half reared for me

agree with VG - can also be used upstairs/downstairs and carried inbetween to save you waking baby and lifting it out and into cot

the jane prams do have seperate carry cots available but I never bought one as it had the lie flat car seat and I had a moses basket for indoors

VintageGardenia · 12/04/2008 14:15

I'll pop in to that one and see do they have them then. We might even do a baby shopping day during the week. dd you are such a mine of info!

The other thing we have to do is clear out what DP calls "the spare room", DS calls "my other bedroom" and I call "my study". Yikes. But not tonight, Josephine.

longwayfromhome · 12/04/2008 14:18

ooooh thank you. Convenience, not health and safety then. I had been wondering about this for a while.
