Found you

ernest · 25/03/2008 21:44

had to post so I can find you again.

still panicking

Upsidedowncake · 25/03/2008 21:48

found you.

Just met the doula - very nice but am concerned that she has never assisted at a birth before. She will have done one by June, but I think I need a calm, reassuring, experienced presence. Oh BuXXer.

Sophie, very annoying re mattress. Grrrrr.

katyjo · 25/03/2008 21:52

Found you. Glad you found my ramblings helpful PP didn't mean to scare you about the ward it was fine, just felt a bit abandoned, maybe you always feel like that after having a baby but dh wasn't allowed on the ward after 9pm until 9am and 12 hours seems like a long time when you don't sleep!

PregnantPenguin · 25/03/2008 22:04

How annoying Sophie. Absolutely drives me mad waiting in all day for a 20 min delivery. At least you've got MN for company. The phrase 'Old Coach House' sounds great, very grand designs.

PP runs off to floss her teeth in case Ernest shouts at everyone again. Actually after the wisdom tooth incident, you wouldn't beleive my dental routine: floss, normal toothbrush, mini toothbrush at the back, tounge scraper (with special tounge cleaner spray) then industrial bleach like mouthwash. Takes about 2 hours every morning and night.

UpsideDown - Perhaps your Doula will be fresh and keen to impress? Do you get a discount as she's not qualified?

BasilB - TMI back at ya. After about a month DH and I have just discovered nookie again. Please don't tell me that it's not going to be possible for much longer (PP runs off to check which of us is due 1st). Ha ha, we're due within 48 hours of each other, I will check back in on Thursday.

Don't worry Katyjo - checked up St Georges (might as well name and shame) on this site www.babyfy.com, and I quote
"How long, if all goes well, is a parent allowed to stay in hospital post birth?"
"Average between 12-36 hours".
So if all goes to plan, I won't be there long anyway. Which after today, is a good thing...!!!

I am such a chatterbox today . I'm back in the office tomorrow, so will be reading and not posting again, which will give everyone else a chance to get a word in.

OP posts:
debinaustria · 25/03/2008 22:36

Thanks PP for setting up the new thread - how do you find time for your dh when it takes you so long to do your teeth???

No pains here BB - maybe you were just in an awkward position or maybe baby was also pushing down!! I've felt like baby's scrabbling round down there, ds2 thinks it's excited and wants to come out.So maybe with you it was a combination of the 2.

Ernest - that's a long list, wish I was closer so we could waddle around together and pack for you.

Sophie - fingers crossed the mattress is there bright and early!! Have the annoying guests gone?

Upside down - at least you won't be her first!!

Boys are back at school tomorrow so I should be back in my early morning routine - OMG I'm going to have to set an alarm clock

N night everyone

sophiewd · 25/03/2008 22:56

Oh yes Deb annoying guests have gone and should have charged them extra as their room was disgusting.

debinaustria · 26/03/2008 06:11

Good morning everyone - and how are you all feeling, did you sleep well - one more day closer to meeting those lovely babies!!

I struggled with the alarm clock this morning, baby's kicking me like mad whilst I type, boys are eating breakfast then they're going out to clear snow before school - been snowing for over 24 hours now, an unexpected treat for skiiers at the end of the season.

Sophie - our large apartment was left in state last week as well, one child had scribbled all over the sheet with a black felt tip.

debinaustria · 26/03/2008 06:49

Just fallen over on the bloody snow on the way to school so dh has taken over and I'm going for a sit down, I landed on my bottom so there's plenty of cushioning there but I'm shook up nevertheless.

dylansmumplusone · 26/03/2008 07:27

oh deb hope you're okay! if you're going to fall the bum is def the best place at least. i'm sure i mentioned before i fell over at 8 1/2 months with ds and broke my foot and now my deepest fear is that it'll happen again. i will be taking baby steps and being very cautious about uneven pavement... thank goodness i don't have to contend with the snow that you do!

upsidedown i think there's pros and cons to a new doula but if you're really after a voice of experience you might be best to find someone else. don't feel obligated because she's nice!

ernest i flossed my teeth yesterday for the first time in ages (am so lazy when it comes to flossing but do brush twice daily) and was relieved that my gums were bleeding profusely! have appt thurs but feeling kind of panicky because my gums have been 'fine' this time (i hope) and with ds they bled like mad.

sophie grr on your behalf. delivery people are so annoying. i've had that whole, you weren't in we left you a card and i'm like, i've been here all day surely you have my number for a reason??! i think they get behind schedule and just start to say that when they can't fit in anymore deliveries!!

i think maybe this little bean is having a growth spurt because i'm soooo tired. bed at 9.30 last night and my eyelids still weigh 5lbs each.

sophiewd · 26/03/2008 08:10

Morning all
Well hopefully they should make it today, we have describe to them what the farm looks like, big house, barns, sheep Oh and 3 signs outside with the name on, not a 50's council house, the lady who lives there phoned up last night very confused.

Deb - hope you are OK, I think that is definitelky the best place to fall. My DB and his family are going to Austria this weekend for a week and getting very excited about the snow reports.

bitofadramaqueen · 26/03/2008 08:25

hi everyone, at the risk of sounding repetitive - how much do we chat???? Taken ages to catch up just from yesterday.

Hope everyone well esp makecakes after hospital visit and deb after fall...

Went to my first NCT ante-natal class last night. Everyone seemed nice enough and picked up a few useful points (spare clothes for DH at hospital and you can insist that medical staff knock before coming into your room) and useful info about the hospital. Apparently our hospital is sooooo busy it is known for it to close its doors . So need to think about a plan b. The good thing is though I only live about 5 mins from hospital so if I am able to leave it very late before going they would have to let me in if I was just about to give birth.

I was also initially pleased that I was 'mid-range' on the bump front but then I realised my due date was the latest . Only 2 v slim people with super neat bumps though so didn't feel too much like a heffer . Couple of people looked like they had very well fitting jeans so will have to sit next to them next week and find out what they wearing!

Oh, refused to pick up any leaflets. Still in denial that I need to start thinking about birth etc.

aberdeenhiker · 26/03/2008 08:44

ernest - sending tons and tons of sympathy! Moving countries is really hard and I think you're a star to be managing it this far pregnant with your kids!

and umm, I also ended up with a bit of a Gina Ford-ish schedule. It really fit DS and made him so much happier. But that bit she has about ironing baby sheets? I definitely didn't do that!

basilbrush - every once in a while I'm pretty sore after nookie, but we're still managing okay-ish. It's much more limited by my energy levels than anything else!

Opinions please - we've just been sent the booking forms for our NCT refresher classes and it's £70 for three two hour classes. Last time we really enjoyed the social aspect of the class, but £70 seems like a huge amount of money for just three (last time it was £80 for 6) and I'm not sure it's worth the money. What do people think? Has anyone gone to a refresher class before?

I start my pregnancy yoga class today too - I'm so excited. I went last time and it was really wonderful. The class is taught by a midwife who's also a yoga instructor and I always slept really well after it. It's also much cheaper than the NCT ones (£8 drop in for 2 hours) and I did meet other mums there...

bitofadramaqueen · 26/03/2008 08:59

at anyone still managing nookie. Went off it months ago (cant get past the feeling of there being 3 of us!!).

Aberdeen - why not wait till after your pregnancy yoga class to see how you get on with the mums there? £70 is very expensive for a refresher, but it could be a small price to pay if the social aspect proves to be a bit of a life saver! My classes were around £135 for 8 two-hour classes so your refresher class definitely works out at more per class.

aberdeenhiker · 26/03/2008 09:06

bitofadramaqueen - I have to mail my cheque by tomorrow so not a ton of time to make up my mind We were planning on not taking them because DH was going to be offshore for one of the classes but now he's probably not (going offshore next week instead) so I feel like I need to make a decision all of a sudden!

Oh and nookie - at least right now it only feels like three! The first 6 months with DS we had him asleep in our room and we had to just throw a blanket over his cot (not sure why - it's not like he wasn't asleep) and be as quiet as possible. I'm not looking forward to that again!

nettiehay · 26/03/2008 09:37

Morning all - am absurdly chuffed that my throw away comment has made it as the thread title!

Does anyone else have painful muscles across the top of their bump? I know it's probably just the muscles stretching, but I'm in quite a lot of pain whilst sat at my desk at work...

mellymell · 26/03/2008 09:41

morning all - love the name of the new thread.

Aberdeen - wrt yoga people vs NCT people, have found many more like minded souls at the first rather than the second. Am risking not doing an NCT refresher course and just concentrating on the yoga.

Ernest - good luck with packing and moving - get your boys to help you as much as possible.

And for all those falling over their feet / snow / uneven pavements, please be careful.

wishing you all a good morning - I'll pop in later
[MM slinks back to the grindstone and places nose against it rather unwillingly]

sophiewd · 26/03/2008 09:45

Aberdeen - have been doing aquanatal and have made a couple of good freinds from there and at £1 a week is a lot cheaper.

aberdeenhiker · 26/03/2008 09:50

sophiewd - There's no aquanatal here in Aberdeen at hours I can make - yoga is from 4-6pm so it's easy to get to from work if DH does the nursery pick up.

Oh - and yoga includes a bit of cake and juice for the £8. Anytime I get cake, that's value for money!

mellymell - thanks for your comment! I made friends at both last time so probably would make friends at both again.

nettiehay - I get a sore spot when the LO stretches - but it's due to their position, so it sounds different. I've had shooting pains down through the centre of my pelvis - around my cervix when walking though. Has anyone else had those?

LauraT · 26/03/2008 09:52

Found you... only managing to post occasionally, v busy at work, but enjoying keeping up with everyone's messages. I was 27 weeks yesterday, had a check-up at the lovely birth centre (where I hope to deliver) and all seems fine despite epic vomiting attack over the Easter weekend. Haven't been able to look at my choccy eggs yet . SPD/PGP is no worse, and physio has said there's not much more she can do for me, I just need to keep doing the exercises. Might venture back to pg yoga with caution.
Aberdeenhiker - my NCT classes (in rip-off London) are nearly £200, so it sounds like a bargain to me - though mine are first-time, so more hours I suppose. Came as a bit of a shock, but I thought it would be worth it for the active birth prep and social side. Hope I'm right, they're not until 34 weeks.
And I'm flossing like mad and have just made a dentists appt - thanks for the warning Ernest...

sophiewd · 26/03/2008 09:59

Sorry just meant that yoga probably would give you more like minded friends than NCT at cheaper price

basilbrush · 26/03/2008 10:42

Morning lovely ladies - you are chatty!

Am in school today (even though it's holdiays - SHOCK!) trying to get organised for my last six weeks, if I make it to 38 weeks that is! I could just "wing it" but we have a new Head starting after the Easter Break and I bet he wants to observe me before I go on leave so no sitting down, lazy lesson for me (My stepmother actually suggesed I have a "sedentary" job...would she like to try and teach 25 fourteen year olds sat on her arse )

Glad some of you are still enjoying rampant lurve-making even if I'm not

The most enjoyable exercise I'm getting is an aquanatal class at Dundee. It's totally fab (you really feel like you've done something after your hour in there not like the one I did with DS which was bascially a 30 minute group hug) and BONUS, there's a free creche for DS while I'm in there

Cracked and opend my posh mamma mio gift a week early. Realised Baby Basil could well be here in 10 weeks time..aaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh DH smothered me bump in yuppy anti stretch mark tummy rub, it felt soooo nice and skin definitely soft and lovely today, think this'll have to be nightly ritual

LOL ALERT the French for stretch marks is
"les marques disgracieuses" !!!!!

BB xx

Neenzandhertwinbeans · 26/03/2008 10:46

Hey all, MW appt went well. When she felt my belly she thought Esther had turned head down but then the HB was high up so probably still breech. We had a really good chat about the birth - I really want a natural birth with little intervention but I know I am going to have to compromise on some things cos its twins.

MW is going to do my next antenatal appt at my house so she can help me write my birth plan. I feel very positive about the birth - had been feeling a little anxious cos thought they would make me have interventions I didn't want (epidural, continuous EFM) but as MW said "we are not ogres, whatever you want you can have and we don't advise any different just to annoy you". She said she had seen loads of twins deliveered without an ep and if I didn't want one I shouldn't have one. Still have to decide on that cos if Esther stays breech they'll have to turn her after Theo is born and that could be VERY painful!
