Think I have caught up now and have turned my eyes square

Makecakes wow 4weeks at least you have light at the end of the tunnel now hope it makes it easier for you.

Tississs Im a Highland girl though we moved to Aberdeenshire last year...we are only 2.5hours away and that was long enough in the car for me.

I saw the advert for the wii fit last night and told DH I want that for my bday at the end of May....Like Rolf I never know when my DH is around so am unable to go to classes on a regular basis which puts me off.

Rolf glad your scan went well it must have been really tough for you being your dds anniversary.

On toddlers I have a 2.7dd and its the lifting on/off toilet or in/out car/bath that is killing me....DH keeps saying I didnt take this much out of you last time grrr well DS was 5 in school so I got plenty rest ...oh well 7 weeks to go and by god im counting

debinaustria · 17/04/2008 06:17

Morning all

Josey, think we're all on the countdown now, I know I'm lucky not to be struggling with SPD but OMG I'm uncomfortable, yesterday I had lots of BH contractions and bump was really tight. It's relaxed a bit today. I'm also full of Tristan's germs - sore throat, tight chest and horrible cough. Feeling sorry for myself aren't I?

Welcome to the group Splodgesmum, sounds like you've been through hell to get here, so pleased all is going well for you now (despite the SPD)

Ernest - how are the stress levels today?

sophiewd · 17/04/2008 07:30

Morning all - 6 breakfasts and 2 rooms to do today, then that is it unitil monday as tonights lot are in until Sunday. Will get DH to do rooms as still recovering from Tuesday.

9 weeks today at around 10am barring any emergencies we will get to meet NO2

ernest · 17/04/2008 07:53

morning. stress levels even higher, if possible - just found out our next door bloodz neighbours are putting their house on the market too! I heard from one of the kids (best friend of girl next door, and asked the dad, who is usuallz reallz friendlz and chatty, and he was clearly massively pissed off I knew and really shifty about it, demanded to know how I knew and stomped off

I told dh who was 'so what' about it and genuinely couldn't see why it's a problem.' So our next door neighbours are selling up, oh and they're building 39 brand new houses on the field outside our house. But don't worry, it'll sell

Was up till 1 am clearing the laundry room, then woke at 5 with it all going round mz head.

Still, at least I've finished decluttering.

And we decided to mmove the middle week of the holidazs, so the bozs could spend their last few dazs with their mates, and I'm graduallz finding out that almost all of them are going awaz, so thez won't have anzone to plaz with

But apart from that, stress under control (wrz smile)

sophiewd · 17/04/2008 07:58

Oh Ernest - it will be OK, it will be OK, it will be OK

splodgesmum · 17/04/2008 08:06

Morning all, tississ glad to hear that your SPD is better this time round - have been reading some horror stories on MN about how much worse it can be 2nd time around so pleased to hear this isn't always the case!

Dramaqueen, I'll be very impressed if your baby turns up on time! I'm obsessed about time-keeping so may be my baby will be too! I have been given a few tips as to how to bring on labour (haven't we all!) but I'm sure he'll come when he's good and ready.

I'm interested to hear how many people are getting BH - I didn't realise you could get them so early but now I know what these tight feelings are! God, I've got a lot to learn! Quite a few of you seem to be doing this second or first time round so you'll have to forgive my ignorance!

My baby is head down now, and the sonographer told me on Tuesday that he won't change position from here on in, however the registrar said completely the opposite! It's all so confusing! He is soooo active at the moment - movement morning noon and night, assume this is normal too!

We have a name, but I'm still open to new ideas - however my dh has become very fixated on this name so don't know how open he'll be to new ones! I'm a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to names (having been a teacher I know what a burden weird names can be!). I love the name Olivia/Oliver (we're having a boy) and taught a gorgeous little boy called Oliver a couple of years ago, but dh doesn't seem keen. Maybe I'll just sneak off and register him on my own!

Upsidedowncake · 17/04/2008 08:50

Morning everyone

Oh Ernest, what a pain about the house. What is the impact of not selling until after you leave? Perhaps get your BP checked as you sound as stressed as me, which ain't good.

Poor Debs,sorry you've got T's germs.

Josey, sorry heavy lifting is so hard. At times, DS (2.5) simply can't understand why I can't carry him around everywhere ...

Splodge, Oliver's a lovely name.

Splodge and Drama, glad you are not expecting to be early either. I have visions of me being the only one on the thread still pregnant while the rest of you are weaning your babies, and watching them learn how to crawl!

names, still tossing up between Dorothy and Chloe. DH is A, I am B, we called DS C (not on purpose!) so have been looking for names beginning with D. Dorothy is our favourite although it is quite old-fashioned.

makecakesnotwar · 17/04/2008 08:51

Oh Ernest, sending you big hugs (and a few more y's)- sounds like you need them.

Debs- at this point, I expect we are all beginning to feel a little cumbersome and (dare I say it?) fed up. Sending you hugs too!

And I love the name Olivia- in fact it will be one of our middle names!

DH has gone to work today after working from home for the last couple of days. I have grown used to having him around (doing all the work.) I am still baffled that doing so little can be so tiring....have a note on my front door which reads
" I am heavily pregnant- please allow me extra time to get to the front door when you ring!" as getting peed off with people standing with their fingers on the bell.

Oh and mother of next door neighbour, who I have never met before, leant over the garden wall yesterday to touch my belly, without invitation, and said "What a fabulous bump!"

sophiewd · 17/04/2008 08:55

Upsidedownckae - love Dorothy, DD has an old fashioned name, she is Edith, but I love those names

bitofadramaqueen · 17/04/2008 08:56

ooh, dorothy is lovely upsidedowncake. Dont worry, me you and Splodge (and any other late June people) will no doubt still be on the ante-natal thread in July. Sob.

ernest · 17/04/2008 09:08

Ah, yes, sorry, wrote last post on computer upstiars which has a different keyboard with y & z swapped. sorry. y's duly restored

busy converting chocolate cake recipe to lemon ene, as both my 2 have decided they don't like chocolate cake either .

ktpie · 17/04/2008 09:10

I'm due on the 22nd June too (not sure I ever updated the list!), there seems to be a lot of us due on that day!

Are other peoples BH contractions getting uncomfortable? Mine seem to be and I definitely have more the more active I am (will have to just laze about all day!).

Hoggle · 17/04/2008 09:33

Wow, been away in Belgium for a few days and it's taken me ages to catch up - nearly time for a new thread again!

I wanted to ask my fellow SPD sufferers if you've tried crutches and if they have helped at all? My physio has started making noises about giving me a pair but I am not convinced they would help and would be interested to hear if anyone's had a go?

I love hearing the names everyone's chosen, especially those of you having girls. We've settled on a shortlist of 3 boys names we both like, but if we were having a girl we'd be headed for divorce .

You can add me to the probably still here in July list - I'm also due on 21/22 and convinced baby will be very late arriving...

josey · 17/04/2008 09:41

Morning all

Ernest I 100% admire the way you are coping and just getting on with things I think I would be locked in a padded cell by now.

Having bad day emotion wize...taking DH to airport shortly for a 2/3week stint in Norway and today would have been my dads 60th...so I have turned into a weeping sap bucket of chocolate today I think.

Was thinking of thread names...how about something like.

As we start nesting will the creme eggs start hatching?

PiggyPenguin · 17/04/2008 09:54

HI everyone, feeling better today and mum has come to help so that is good. I think we are all getting to the stage we were are uncomfortable and less able to shake off bugs etc quickly - hopefully the warmer weather will come soon and that will make us feel a bit better.

ernest, I can't imagine having that much stress at the moment. You are doing so well, but you do need to take care of yourself - ignore the neighbours etc, there is nothing you can do about it so try to ignore it as much as possible.

sophiewd · 17/04/2008 10:00

Hoggle - crutches might, mine tends to be very one sided and am finding that I am leaning on walls, bannisters, chair backs etc to help take pressure of it.

needahand · 17/04/2008 10:18

Hi Ladies

We definitely a new thread today...not many posts left!

Talking about that dramaqueen I like your suggestion but, did you know you can get pasteurised Brie, and camembert in the shops I even think you can find pasteurised blue cheese (haven't tried that though). I have been living on the pasteurised camembers

Re breast pumps, I use to have a meleda one. It was working well when my daughter was leaving anything (which wasn't often as she was a hungry bunny). I did find that it wasn't very kind on the nipples though and that if you do it too often, you don't produce the same amount of milk

RE BH mine seems to have died off a bit

splodgemum welcome. I am due one day before you and am off on maternity leave one day before you too. I too have some sort of pelvis problem but not SPD.

I am quite tired too at the moment, can't seem to be able to find a comfy position in bed. The doctor surgery called me yesterday afternoon and I had to redo the test for the third time as this time the results were "inconclusive" whatever that means.

thegreenfairy · 17/04/2008 10:20

Morning all

Ernest you poor thing. And how horrible of your neighbour! I'm sure you'll get there in the end.
I know what you mean about having trouble sleeping. I've been using my natal hynotherapy CD to help me relax and therefore sleep. I know you're having an elective CS so it's less relevant for the actual birth, but if you PM me with your address I'll mail you my back up copy - it seems to work when nothing else will, and I also use it in the morning if I wake up an hour too early and can't get back to sleep.

We're on the last day of our mega deadline issue today - a deadline we've been working towards since December, and I have broken the back of the remaining work on it I need to do today so am feeling a bit more chilled now.

Off tomorrow, cleaning/ DIY on our flat before we move out, then I've just got seven days left at work, writing handover notes and generally tieing up loose ends. Hooray!

alipalli · 17/04/2008 10:28

Morning Ladies,

I get to work from home on Thursdays which means that I can post on Mumsnet in the daytime unobserved . Currently feeling a bit wiped out, so glad not to be in the office. I am finding it hard to keep working, and have realised that I only have a handful of days left in the office over the next few weeks which is a bit weird.

Ernest you sound properly stressed. Try not to worry although that is easy to say and hard to take heed of. I find I get even more worked up about things when dh wont acknowledge that something is a problem. I feel obliged to do the worring for 2 people.

Quick question about SPD and physio. 2 - 4 weeks ago I had mild to moderate SPD. At my last mw appointment (2 weeks ago) I was referred to a physio. The letter asking me to make an appointment has just come through, but the SPD seems to have gone away (for now). Is there any point in going to the physio now? Sods law says that if I don't go then it will probably come back, but I don't want to trail to the hospital wasting my time and theirs, if there is no point. What do they actually do for SPD apart from give you a girdle?

On a more trivial note, the Boden catalogue has just dropped through my door which got me thinking about post pregnancy clothes. With a June arrival all my maternity stuff was bought back in January, so at some point I am going to get hopelessly too hot in it. I am hoping that I will be able to get to the end of the pregnancy with what I have, but clearly I am not suddenly going to pop back into shape by 1 July and so last summer's clothes are not going to fit. Any suggestions on what I should think about buying especially in terms of what type of tops work well for breast feeding? Thanks.

needahand · 17/04/2008 10:41

alipalli go to your appointment. I had the same problem but the pain came back. Best to go and check anyway, you won't be wasting their time.

Re breastfeedings tops etc Jojo maman bebe do some nice wearable ones who don't look too much like breastfeeding tops, I have bought a few. A couple of skirts/light pants and you should be sorted

debinaustria · 17/04/2008 10:49

Hi Everyone

went back to bed when dh took the boys and slept until 10.00 again, would love to say I feel better but I don't, sound like I've been smoking 60 a day with this pesky cough.

Ernest - let me get this right you are stressed to your eyeballs and you're still baking - you are SUPERMUM of the day
Try, try, try not to worry too much about the house sale, are your neighbours selling because of the new houses being built?
Well done for finishing the decluttering.

Allipalli - with ds1 and 2 I carried on wearing my maternity clothes for a while, especially the trousers, and I liked big baggy tops so I could put baby up to bfeed. I have never gone in for the specialist bfeeding tops and would be interested to see what other people think of them. Dresses aren't too good for bfeeding, shirts with buttons are fine in the privacy of your own home as it doesn't matter if you are sitting there exposed to all. But for me what worked best out of the house were tops with enough room or stretch to lift one side, attach baby and hide any unwelcome flesh - i.e. any saggy tummy - with a muslin cloth. This time I've bought a couple of t shirts that aren't maternity, but are smock style which will be easy for bfeeding but no doubt will make me look pregnant!!

Greenfairy - well done for almost reaching that deadline

Sybil - glad your Mum's come to help

got to go now, will catch up with the other posts later

Josey - love your new thread name

nettiehay · 17/04/2008 12:03

Morning all, sorry to hear about all the SPD sufferers suffering more. I've got a funny thing happening with my hip (like it needs to 'clunck') as well as lots of movement from Bug (also still lopsided on the left - kinda freaky actually! I had some really bad BH on Saturday (while we were at the Rugby) which freaked DP out a little - but then he thought about having our baby at Twickenham and loved the idea! My (Australian) dad has vetoed naming Bug Johnny Wilkinson or any variation on any England rugby player name...
Ernest - how do you do it??
needahand what are they doing to your tests to need to redo them so much??

dylansmumplusone · 17/04/2008 12:33

ernest you really are supermum! if it's any consolation at all your bump looks fab, so neat and tidy!! makes me acutely aware of the enormity of my thighs and arse.

hope SPD is manageable for everyone. i've barely left the house this week but with ds bday (today) and party (sun) and getting the baby's clothes/blankets/muslins, etc. ready (why did i pick this week to do it??) i feel like i've had enough exercise. going back to osteopath on sat when i have someone to watch ds, dragging him there doesn't seem worth the effort!

anyone want to share their boys names? we have a couple half options now but are so struggling finding something we both really like, let alone love!

deb, poor you, cold + heavily preggers is horrible. ds woke with a small fever last night but seems okay today, just a runny nose so hoping i'll miss it. try to rest as much as you can.

upsidedowncake i love the name dorothy but i have a wretched aunt with that name which kind of ruins it. i do think old names are very classy though, i also like audrey and vivian for a girl.

as far as breast feeding shirts go they really do make things easier. you only need a couple for when you know you're going to be somewhere that you need a bit of discretion and you don't have to worry about the muslin slipping and flashing your rolls!!

dylansmumplusone · 17/04/2008 12:34

oh josey LOVE the thread name!!

bitofadramaqueen · 17/04/2008 13:00

needahand - have I been unnecessarily missing out on brie?!?!? I thought the problem with brie was that it was mould-ripened (whatever that means) rather than anything to do with pasteurisation. There is a gorgeous cheesemongers in Edinburgh and DH has been instructed to stock up for my return home with the baby .

Re: clothes - obviously it will be a gloriously hot summer so I'm thinking of getting some lightweight drawstring trousers (linen etc) to do the latter stages of pregnancy that will hopefully do post-baby. I put on weight after the end of last summer anyway so there is no way that I'll fit into my summer clothes. One tip I got for bf was two layer up with two vest tops, that way you can lift one up and pull the other down (IYSWIM) for bf access while still protecting your modesty. Obviously haven't tried it yet though . I'm also thinking on stocking up on some more cheapy yoga pants from sainsbury's for at home pre/post birth.

ernest I echo the 'you're amazing' sentiments and wonder if you might post the lemon cake recipe once you've mastered it. I really appreciated all the recipes posted the other day, but have to I'm not a huge fan of chocolate cake - lemon cakes though, mmmmm.... Lemon drizzle cake, lemon and white chocolate cake/muffins, drool....
