Oh and they had my DD on 1oz every 2 hours as well, as a big tummy can make it harder for them to breathe.

She really wasn't a fan of this and would cry after her feeds as she definitely wanted more!

LeeanneD11 · 07/01/2024 21:36

Yes very similar to what happened your little one his was so low it was horrible . His very unsettled yeah I couldn't watch the lumbar puncture part it was upsetting for me . They are amazing here and helping me so much xx

Alloveragain3 · 07/01/2024 21:49

That's great that the staff are good.
We had some lovely nurses too and that made such a big difference.

It's a terribly worrying time and it can feel like it's never going to end, but RSV tends to follow a predictable pattern and most little ones aren't in hospital long.

Will be thinking of you and little one and hope to hear you're home very soon x

DollyGx · 07/01/2024 22:42

Oh @LeeanneD11 what a shame, that sounds really tough on you and baby. Hope he makes a speedy recovery and you’re home soon, take care xx

foodislife1 · 07/01/2024 23:27

@LeeanneD11 - glad your little one is being well looked after. I'm sure you'll be home in no time!

I know this may sound really ridiculous...but has anyone managed to lose any weight? I'm not prioritising it and form prev pregnancy, I know it'll drop off soon.
I just expected with breastfeeding and not eating a lot (due to lack of time!), I'd have lost a bit more!

Alloveragain3 · 07/01/2024 23:42

@foodislife1

No! I'm 8 weeks pp, mainly BFing and still 10kg over my usual weight.

Tbf, my diet has been crap, especially over Xmas.

I know with DS it took 9 months to shift the weight though, so I wasn't expecting a quick weight loss.

I still look 4 months pregnant :(

Spareincoming · 08/01/2024 00:49

@foodislife1 no! I’m still half a stone heavier than I was when I got pregnant and I needed to lose a stone then! Ignoring Christmas, I eat well, always on the go and have been increasing the dog and pram walk speed and distance but the weight isn’t moving at all, argh!

OP posts:
Thack · 08/01/2024 10:45

I'm not enjoying the extra weight around my middle. I am reluctant to buy new clothes as I got back to normal after dc1. Bab is only 10 weeks and we've had Xmas and bad weather keeping me indoors- it makes sense for it to take a while.

I just hope it does shift and it's not just where I'm getting older 😅

TMI2000 · 08/01/2024 11:11

I went down to pre-pregnancy weight but over Christmas gained a bit of weight.

I’ve woken up with a sore throat and sinus pain and I’m terrified that I’m coming down with something and that I might pass it on to LO! His dad works so I can’t try and stay away until the illness passes as it’s just me looking after him all day!

BabyBabyBaby123 · 08/01/2024 11:57

@LeeanneD11 I hope your LO is doing ok.

First set of vaccinations were done this morning. He is snoozing away now, but I am still quite worried about how he will be in the next 48 hours.

BabyBabyBaby123 · 08/01/2024 11:57

@LeeanneD11 I hope your LO is doing ok.

First set of vaccinations were done this morning. He is snoozing away now, but I am still quite worried about how he will be in the next 48 hours.

Hi his not to bad today , his infection markers was 128 and they should be at 5, so we are now here till Wednesday/ Thursday to complete his antibiotics. They are saying his got bronchiolitis , his still sucking in his rib but have managed to feed by mouth and not the tube so it's one step closer to being home x

Spareincoming · 08/01/2024 13:18

@LeeanneD11 When we were in the doctor said that most babies get a diagnosis of Bronchiolitis caused by the RSV if they present with the cough and are RSV positive, and whilst the Bronchiolitis will peak between days 3-5, the cough will persist for quite some time; we realised on Christmas Eve that the cough had finally gone!
And now LO has a cold again!

@Thack re cradle cap; extensive research overnight (whilst one of the DC couldn’t sleep and was in and out of my bed like a possessed cat) seems to suggest that dentinox cradle cap shampoo is very popular and effective, as is coconut oil; and the babyfrida brush set is meant to be good at shifting it alongside product use. I love the babyfrida stuff and not surprised their brushes come highly recommended!
However, last night I sponge washed LO’s head with aveeno baby bath body and hair wash, soft brushed the scalp and coated his head with aveeno emollient cream and combed the flakes out with a plastic comb and it looks a lot better this morning!

That sounds really positive @LeeanneD11 Clever baby!

My DD had her 8 week vaccines 3 days ago. We gave Calpol right away and then for 2 more doses. She was clingy and hot for about 24 hours and her poops have been mucusy, but it wasn't too bad. I'm glad we have the first ones out of the way now.

She has a little cold too (slight cough), but the nurse was happy to go ahead and vaccinate as she was well in herself.

I've done a few walks outside with her in the sling recently which has been great as she sleeps well, but it's bloomin' freezing today so not sure when the next walk will be!

The health visitor is coming round today for a routine check (it was delayed for some reason) so I've just blitz cleaned the house.

Nov2023 · 08/01/2024 20:34

@LeeanneD11 I hope baby and you are doing well this evening

Those who have had the 6 week check was it for you too? or just the baby? We had ours this evening but nobody looked at my scar or anything like that. Do I just take it that I am fine or do I need to be checked? I feel fine!

LeeanneD11 · 08/01/2024 21:01

@Nov2023
We are doing ok , slowly getting there , managed to get a smile of him, now gone up to 2oz every 3 hours . Still struggling a little , we have been here since Saturday evening.
Managing to feed ok too through the mouth and not tube which is good but struggling slightly feeding normal xx

Alloveragain3 · 08/01/2024 21:37

@Nov2023
I was signed off at like 2 weeks post partum and my 6 week check was just for baby.
I'd say if you have no issues, they shouldn't need to see you again x

Nov2023 · 08/01/2024 22:31

@Alloveragain3 Thank.you! I don't feel. the need to be checked but wanted to be sure. My GP practice is questionable at best in the past few years so wanted to double check.

@LeeanneD11 That sounds like great progress! Hope you are getting some sleep too

LeeanneD11 · 08/01/2024 22:43

@Nov2023
Not getting much sleep as I worry to much xx

Travellingislife · 09/01/2024 01:48

@LeeanneD11 sorry to hear about your LO, that must have been/ be very upsetting, I would worry sick too. Glad to hear he’s doing better and gets to go home soon.
My toddler drags home all sorts from nursery so I’m kind of expecting DD to come down with something soon, quite worried about her getting ill.

@Nov2023 the gp check is useless unfortunately, imagine if you were signed off after major surgery or a major injury without being checked over!? That would not happen and I’m sure it wouldn’t happen if men gave birth. This is a major bugbear for me.
I went privately to see a women’s health’s physio and she did a thoroughly check. I feel completely normal so I thought everything was fine and that I could push on training like usual, but she could see that my bladder is lower than it should; a small prolapse and came up with a plan of action. If I would carry on like normal the risk is that it gets worse and I can get problems.
Kegel exercises and massaging my scar are big parts. My scar has been lumpy on one side and she said it’s scar tissue and that I can massage it everyday.

Thack · 09/01/2024 07:41

@Nov2023 our GP appointment was for us both . My part consisted of blood pressure/pulse and some questions of how I am. The GP was lovely so would have responded if I said that something was amiss but I agree that it's for women to look after themselves in that way.

@Travellingislife that sounds like a great idea. Imagine how many women's issues would be sorted later in life if there was preventive action.
I'm awful for remembering kegels!

Nov2023 · 09/01/2024 08:36

@Travellingislife Sounds like a good idea to see someone privately-interesting to know that feeling well doesn't mean everything is back to normal. I am pretty sure France check mothers over really well after birth. I wonder what their prolapse rates are etc. @Thack@Thack@Thack Do the kegels!

Spareincoming · 09/01/2024 09:16

I’m crap at remembering Kegels; the midwife where I had previous DC said do them at traffic lights, but we live rurally so I would only be kegelling twice a week on the food shop! 😂
I keep wondering about a women’s health physio, but finding one near-ish to here is an issue, I’m loathe to travel for an hour each way whilst LO is so little.

OP posts:
Thack · 09/01/2024 11:30

Maybe we should kegel every time we come to this forum 🥴😹

Squeeze it ladies!

Katiec1 · 09/01/2024 17:09

Just having a read and catch up on the thread, feel like I don’t get a minute 🙈

@LeeanneD11 sorry to hear about your little one. Hoping they make a speedy recovery x

@Spareincoming re cradle cap…I’m using the colief baby scalp oil and so far so good. I remember using detinox shampoo on my eldest and it was great but haven’t seen it anywhere.

@Nov2023 our 6 week check is on Thursday and it’ll be for me and baby. I’m in Ireland and this is the only post natal check up that’s offered for mothers. The lack of aftercare in this country is shocking, especially at a time when women go through a lot both physically and mentally.

And thanks ladies for the Kegel exercise reminders 🙈😂

Spareincoming · 09/01/2024 17:29

@Katiec1 I’ve bought both today; I remembered the colief’s very distinct smell the moment I picked it up!
I don’t think LO is appreciating me plucking the loose flakes out whilst feeding!
