@WriMum22 ..mine is the same! Hoping for a 7am wake up soon

DollyGx · 19/05/2024 10:30

Those with early wake ups is your room really bright in the morning? Ours was and she always starts to stir around 4ish and if the room was quite light it would fully wake her up. I put one of those portable blackout blinds up and she still stirs around that time but she never wakes up and normally stays sleeping till around 7.30/8. I think it helps naps too being in the dark.

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 19/05/2024 14:05

My baby goes down at 8, wakes at 10, 11:30, 1, 2:30, 3:15 (decides to laugh and talk at me until finally going back to sleep at 5), 6, 6:30, 7 up for day. Anyone want to swap? 😂😂😂😂

user666555 · 19/05/2024 15:15

@DollyGx I feel like this may be the issue. We've got some curtains but they're not blackout ones. We've just moved and have been saving all our money to get flooring etc done and we've been making do with the curtains that aren't black out. I got a black film thing that you stick to the window from Amazon but again - it's not blackout.

Do you mind linking the one you've got please?

DollyGx · 19/05/2024 15:24

@user666555 I got this tommee tippee one off Amazon. I’ll be taking it away on holiday with us too just in case. We also have a blind up (not blackout) and curtains too that have a thick lining so our room is really dark now. If you were using just this blackout blind on its own you might still get a few bits of light poking through but you could probably fiddle about with it enough to get it fitted better. Ours is up permanently, we’re ground floor and our bedroom window faces right onto the street so it does kind of look a bit crack-denny from the outside but hey, anything for better sleep 😅 https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tommee-Tippee-Anywhere-Blackout-Blind/dp/B08BD8YCC7/ref=mp_s_a_1_3_pp?crid=33MLYCDDZIYWR&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.nHcmefNgIY-MdEFXNWSFz73eXuSNODy99tuMSJz0LBpJqtUoFUt1Z6PW-IaHbevn-GRzMIP2D71xFPCH-2aWRYNMCanNS-iUcZAduPqckGZb00Ob3GndgUnbxIOm27tC4gB8-QPW2Q3mxlKmnV3UhUdOhaNhglCViHzhZ_flzZh0xMh6XHsZR5hhWhQNGNT4JDifiBirQ7FXW1RQyNPlLg.4e-XtfVirhCq_sCr3FoInLWGRndouMzMCFnJaPUGpuA&dib_tag=se&keywords=portable%2Bblackout%2Bblinds&qid=1716128401&sprefix=portable%2Bbl%2Caps%2C90&sr=8-3&th=1&psc=1

Travellingislife · 20/05/2024 15:46

Has anyone noticed any separation anxiety yet? The last couple of weeks my dd is not happy with anyone else than mummy or daddy. She turned 6 months a few days ago. I wonder if it’s a phase as before she would happily go in the crèche at the gym for example but now she is just crying and I can’t leave her.

JoyApple · 20/05/2024 16:45

@Travellingislife yes! We've got same thing. Crying even if her aunt's are just looking at her! It's a pain as don't feel like socialising. She seems fine if she's in pushchair though lol. I'm hoping it's just a phase? She's been a chilled baby but she seems to suddenly wants lots of attention and to go out.

Anyone moved to mam size 3? I've just tried size 3 and she's guzzled down an entire bottle in one go and probably would have had more (before she was having half and it seemed like she was getting tired?). I don't know whether to buy more size 3 teats or is she likely to need bigger bottles so should I just invest in bigger bottles? www.amazon.co.uk/MAM-Easy-Active-Baby-Bottle/dp/B07BPVHSBD/ref=pb_pd_lutyp_crc_typ_mr_m_sccl_1/261-8997563-7076768
Spareincoming · 20/05/2024 19:36

@JoyApple we’re on 8oz x4 feeds now, so using the big bottles but still on Mam size 2 teats, none of my DC have ever graduated to size 3 as it’s a big jump in speed of flow from 2 to 3!

@Travellingislife Lo is inconsolable if anyone but me is with him at the moment. Is Grandma has had a tough day today but it’s normal about now I think!

OP posts:
JoyApple · 20/05/2024 22:58

@Spareincoming thanks 🙏 did yours ever have more than 8oz per feed as they got older? I'm trying to figure out what the upper limit is for feeds

Spareincoming · 20/05/2024 23:05

@JoyApple None of the DC have ever had more than 8oz, x4. Once weaning is properly established I drop to offering 6oz x3 then one larger feed around 11pm if still required.

@user666555 yep, 5am wake ups here too. Sleep consultant told me I can’t get her out of bed till 7am. I feel awful, that’s the one thing that hasn’t really worked out well with the consultant, almost everything else she said worked out in the end. But we’re still dealing with her waking at 5, she’s usually back to sleep around 5.45, then awake again an hour later. I just hate leaving her there that 45 min period. She doesn’t really cry much during it anymore though. It’s just a lot of 360 degree turns in the cot, lots of rolling, the odd wail.

well done on the naps! I found that too, I’d go in as soon as she cried, but she really does self settle when we leave her, nap time atleast!

@JoyApple sorry for delay! Yep completely cold turkey. Took it off her one evening, had a bit of a hellish night, but by the next night we had the best night we’d ever had from her. And it’s actually made car journeys better now as she’d cry every time it fell out and I’d have to pull over to get it back for her. Now she either just sleeps or plays with toys. Hope it worked out for you!

Psqueak87 · 21/05/2024 02:53

@DollyGx we have the early wake ups, but she’s in complete darkness. Embarrassingly she’s moved into our walk in wardrobe as we only have a two bed and I have way too many visitors flying over to us this summer to keep dismantling her nursery and moving her into my room, so we made her a room out of our wardrobe!

@FlyingHighFlyingLow that was our sleep schedule too until we got the sleep consultant. Her sleep is far from perfect now but so much improved! Happy to send the PDFs she made for us over to you if you need or want!

@JoyApple I’m on dr brows size 3 and have been for a while. But not sure if they’re comparable. I use dr brown 8oz bottles, but I put 9oz into them as they’re quite a bit bigger than 8oz volume. She will usually guzzle half in one go, then I give her a 10-20 min break and she’ll guzzle the rest. She’s gone from a really fussy eater to a great one, touch wood it stays that way. I feed her 3x 9oz bottles a day with a top up 4oz bottle in the evening, she doesn’t always finish the last one, but I just see it as a bonus bottle.

DollyGx · 21/05/2024 04:55

@Psqueak87 funnily enough I had a 5am wake up yesterday!! First time in aaages, clearly jinxed it 😂

I’ve seen every hour on the clock tonight. My wee girl has perioral dermatitis which I think started from dribble rash and she’s rubbing at her face constantly all night which then knocks her dummy out and wakes her up. Going to have a very grumpy baby tomorrow. Anyone dealt with dribble rash/dermatitis? Is it just a case of waiting it out? GP last week told me to not put anything on it, her skin is so red and chapped though.

Spareincoming · 21/05/2024 09:10

@DollyGx I’ve put the thinnest smear of sudocrem and the yellow metanium cream on dribble rash previously. The dermatologist told me to put it on at the beginning of a contact nap so you can control little hands and dummies until it soaks in.

OP posts:
DollyGx · 21/05/2024 11:03

Thanks @Spareincoming I’ll maybe try that. Did put some sudocreme on it last week but wasn’t sure if that was the right thing to do. It looks sore bless her.

Spareincoming · 21/05/2024 11:07

@DollyGx one of the DC has “lip lickers dermatitis” every winter and says it does soothe it at bedtime; October to March we must be the biggest single household consumers of Carmex tubs worldwide!

OP posts:
Psqueak87 · 21/05/2024 15:13

@DollyGx yes my girl had it a few months ago from dribble also. I have been using beef tallow and it went away, but not sure if that was just time or the tallow. It’s so dry here in Alberta I slather her face in it every night!

Yes please! I need sleep again before I go back to work 😅

Chlo496 · 21/05/2024 18:49

@DollyGx We have been using the Kokoso balm stick for any dribble rash and dry patches, it has worked wonders!

@Psqueak87 we would also appreciate any advice you’ve had and felt worked. Babe is 6m tomorrow and feeding all night long as he’s too distracted to nurse during the day, which I think is the main issue at the moment for us 🫣 but we are yet to have a good night anyway!

JD90 · 21/05/2024 22:20

We've been dealing with separation anxiety from the word go it feels like 🤣 especially in the evening. Which OH struggles with as she's still sleeping when he goes to work at like 5am and by the time he gets home it's often almost 7 and she's starting to wind down. If I try to leave her with him to go collect my elder daughter at like 9pm or like this evening went downstairs to make me and elder some food she screams bloody murder. As soon as I come back in the room or he brings her down and she sees me she stops though. I do feel sorry for him as he just wants to spend time with her but she's a total mummy's girl. I keep trying to tell him it's because she's bf and once she's further long in weaning and not so reliant on me he'll be her best friend, not sure he believes it though. She isn't quite as bad if she has napped well in the day but the only way to make sure that happens is to never leave the house and with a teen who is often at home or only at school a couple of hours at a time it's almost impossible!

@Alloveragain3 Thanks for the info about the allergy testing. has been manic here so didn't reply at the time. We have booked an appointment as baby is having hive and rash reactions to things I eat as sson as I feed him..annoyingly I can't figure out what. Have stopped the usual culprits like dairy, soya, egg, oats and beef but I can't find the trigger yet. I think some of his allergy may be severe because he accidentally got some ice cream on his skin and it came up in hives.

@Psqueak87 Your sleep training experience sounds fabulous. I would love a copy of it if you don't mind please? Sleep both day and night is a mess here. It's getting worse rather than better so am really hoping it is a regression but also realising I might have to act!

Nov2023 · 22/05/2024 12:06

@DollyGx I use a child's farm coconut oil spray for everything including dribble rash. It seems to work and smells nice!

Psqueak87 · 22/05/2024 16:47

@FlyingHighFlyingLow @nov2023 and @Chlo496 can you DM on here? Showing my age now cause I tried to see if I can send you a msg and just send you the “personalized plan” our lady sent us (I think she just fills out the name and sends the same plan to everyone tbh) but couldn’t work out how! If you can either send me your email address or something then I’m happy to forward it. It hasn’t worked PERFECTLY, she guaranteed Eira would be sleeping through the night and she isn’t, but it is so much improved. And from her Google reviews I think it works for the average baby, I think she has like 60 reviews and all are 5*. One thing I will say though is that naps are 100% wonderful now. She does two 90 min naps, and I have to wake her from both.

Also @Chlo496 we had that issue too, she was barely eating in the day, and consuming half her calories at night time. People kept telling me to just stop the feed at night and the day time would improve, but I couldn’t fathom not feeding her almost all her cals one day. The sleep consultant told me ideal situation is I just stop the night feeds (all of them) cold turkey. I did. And within 24 hours she was drinking huge bottles in the day. She was a snacker before drinking 2oz here and there. Now she will drink 9oz bottles - even though I give her a small 15 min break in the middle of the bottle.

user666555 · 22/05/2024 17:59

Hello again everyone,

Just out of interest, what time does your baby go to sleep and wake up and how many naps are they on?
