Messaged you @Psqueak87 !

On an 'ideal day' atm baby:
Wake 7:30 am
Nap 1 9:30 - 11
Nap 2 1 - 2:30
Nap 3 5 - 5:30/6
Bed 8:30 pm

That usually means happiest baby. But atm baby wakes a lot in night, may not go back to sleep from 6am, only take 20 min nap, refuse to sleep at all (one day last week we had a 2 nap day because of this and each nap was only 30 min).

Psqueak87 · 22/05/2024 18:23

@FlyingHighFlyingLow night time for us on a good day is 7-7 - we were told never to take her out of bed before 7am, even if she was awake from 5.30 or something (which did happen)! She was waking up twice a night, once with usually just 5 mins of babbling and scooting around the cot. And one longer wake up, sometimes even up to an hour. But recently it seems to be one good day one bad day. Good day will be 3ish wakeups all lasting 5-10 mins, hardly any noise during them though, and she goes back to sleep with no intervention. Bad days will be 4-5 wake ups, majority are short but one will be long and a bit of crying.

before sleep training it was every 2 hours and needed food or dummy to get back to sleep.

Psqueak87 · 22/05/2024 18:26

Anyone’s babies hair completely changed colour? Me and my partner are very dark haired. Baby came out with lots of dark hair, lost it all, and now it’s come back kinda dark blonde / almost ginger in some lights! Don’t mind at all as my mother is ginger and I think it’s a lovely colour, just can’t believe the change when I looked back at photos today! Added photos to show the change!

@FlyingHighFlyingLow things are up and down here for us too. Some days are better than others. Other times she'll have around 4-5 wake ups. Not sure if it's a developmental thing?

My baby wants to go down for her sleep at 6pm. She'll even go down at 5:30 if I let her. But she wakes up quite early and I'm starting to wonder if her bedtime is too early? The problem is if I try to put her to sleep later than 6:30 I always struggle as she's over tired. She's starting to have longer naps so I'm hoping maybe that'll push bedtime to later?

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 22/05/2024 22:47

I wish was only 4/5 wake ups 😅 sometimes its every half hour!

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 22/05/2024 22:51

Ours came out blonde and the new hair growing in is even lighter! Almost white it's so light! But we have red, blonde, light brown and so dark brown almost looks black on both sides if you look at grandparents, parents and siblings so pot luck really!

DollyGx · 23/05/2024 09:10

Omfg is there a sleep regression at 6 months?! Since turning 6 months sleep has gone to 💩 in this house 😅 daytime naps are still pretty good but nighttime is AWFUL. It’s the bloody dummy! She’s never actually fully waking but from about 4am she stirs every 30 mins, sometimes every 10-15 mins, and rubs her face knocking the dummy out and I have to put it back in otherwise she’d wake up. Is the only solution here to ditch the dummy? That terrifies me, but I’m seriously like a zombie! She has no night feeds anymore and I don’t think it’s hunger otherwise surely she’d actually wake up?
@Psqueak87 was there any helpful tips your sleep consultant gave you for getting rid of the dummy or was it just remove it and deal with the consequences?
@user666555 yes I think bedtime might be too early hence the early wake up, hopefully now the naps are getting longer you might be able to push bedtime later just every so slightly day by day 🤞🏼

Nov2023 · 23/05/2024 09:12

We have absolutely nothing predictable for sleep. I try to put him down between 7 and 8 and try for naps at around 9, 1 and 4 but some days we get 20-30 minutes and others have none at all. The 9 nap is usually a walk and he might sleep for 30 to 40 minutes of a 90 minute walk but he might also resist sleeps!

Hair colour had changed here too from dark dark to light and also a bit red in some lights.. not sure where thst came from! eyes are dark some days and light others too he is still a chameleon

DollyGx · 23/05/2024 09:13

@JoyApple did you ever ditch the dummy? I think I’m too scared to but it’s seriously killing me 😬😅

foodislife1 · 24/05/2024 14:45

Hope everyone is getting on well, only just catching up!
How is weaning going? So far have tried food mid morning only but she doesn't seem to have more than a few spoonfuls :/

user666555 · 24/05/2024 19:51

Does anyone else's baby prefer to sleep on their side? I keep turning her back onto her back but she keeps turning back onto her side? Is it safe? **

Adds this to the list of things I stay awake to watch out for and worry over, over night

JoyApple · 25/05/2024 00:15

@DollyGx I feel for you! I tried again a few days ago and gave up after two hours 😭

As much as I want to, I think my best bet is to teach her how to put it back in herself. She only uses it for nap times and night time so I'm not worried about teeth etc. It's just the night wake ups for it that are bothering me.

What I have been doing in past week is offering water when she wakes up at night and doesn't want the dummy. I think it has decreased dummy wake ups and also it means I don't need to fully wake up, I just grab the bottle, offer it whilst she's still in crib and don't bother with burping. It's unconventional but helping me get through.

JoyApple · 25/05/2024 00:17

What's everyone's little ones favourite toys ATM? Trying to get some inspiration 😀

Nov2023 · 25/05/2024 09:04

@JoyApple books! especially crinkly noise soft ones, the jellycat touchy feel ones and the lift the flap ones. He also likes baby einstein toys-one plays music, one has lots of bits to twist. and stacking cups but he basically just demolishes what i build and eats the cups so far.

Spareincoming · 25/05/2024 12:20

@user666555 Yes! Now Lo rolls well I don’t worry too much but he’s always preferred to side sleep.

OP posts:
Katiec1 · 25/05/2024 12:27

Afternoon ladies ☺️ has anyones LOs no interest in rolling over yet 🙈 We turned 6 months on Thursday, she can definitely move onto her sides but there’s just no interest there for a full roll over. Also anytime we do tummy time she gets too comfortable and doesn’t want to hold herself up or try turn over.
anyone got any tips/tricks they’d like to share to get this lazy lump moving 🙈😂

foodislife1 · 25/05/2024 13:44

@Katiec1 my little one rolls back to front but not the other way :/ trying to entice her but no luck

@user666555 mine side sleeps and front sleeps mainly..has been doing that from about 4 months.
I think the guidance is you can't put them down on their side/front but if they turn on their own then that's ok.

DollyGx · 25/05/2024 13:47

@JoyApple yeah I think I’m just gonna have to accept we’ll be the same 🙈 she’s the same only has it for sleep. Good shout about water might try that!
@Katiec1 exact same as my wee one, absolutely no interest in rolling whatsoever 🙈 she turned 6 months last week. I try encourage her by putting toys up behind her head but she’s just not bothered 😂 she can roll but only with my help. And yes also not a big fan of tummy time! She’s almost sitting unaided so I’m not too overly concerned just yet as she must have some core strength if she can sit well? It was just when I went to baby sensory and loads of the babies were rolling at speed that I got a bit worried 😬

Alloveragain3 · 25/05/2024 14:55

@Nov2023 Ah sorry to hear that, it is so shitty. My DS got hives on his skin at 5 months when milk from my cereal fell on his neck. Idiot GP still didn't diagnose allergies and told us it was all eczema. Grrr.
As there were hives, defo push for allergy testing as this sounds like an IGE allergy. We went private in the end to avoid waiting.

So glad all of you saying you have non rollers, I do too! DD is 6.5 months and has never rolled. She has the ability as she almost does it and then chooses to go back. She hates being on her tummy! As she's sitting happily for ages with no-one nearby, I'm not concerned to be honest.

Psqueak87 · 25/05/2024 22:43

@DollyGx yep exactly that! Take it away and never give in basically! It really was a game changer! I suggest it to all my friends now! Good luck if you do try!

@user666555 yes I believe very safe. My girl has been sleeping on her belly ever since she realised she could roll onto it at about 4.5 months, I was worried for a while as she wasn’t able to roll back to her back! But I read that if they put themselves in the position it is safe. She now rolls every which way in her cot, smashing her head off every corner. She went from having zero interest at all, and making no moves towards rolling, to just starting one day and never stopping!

Travellingislife · 26/05/2024 11:50

Our LO is nearly 6.5 months now and have just started to roll over from stomach to back, she started rolling back to stomach at 4.5 ish months.

I’ve started on solids, a mixture between babyled and feeding/ purees, she loves food!

She’s always been a good sleeper ( well a million times better than my first!) and now she sleeps from around 6:30pm - 6 ish, usually one feed and I never know if it’s 11pm or 5am.. Usually around 5 though. We have to pop her dummy in a few times and I’d like to remove it cold turkey but I’m too scared.. can’t face the crying..
She normally naps every 2-2.5h and has recently started having longer naps, so specially the first one, about 1.5h. I’ve started to see a trend that she’ll refuse the last nap if she’s had two longer ones so I might have to cap them or just move to two naps a day more spread out.

Her two bottom teeth have started coming through and I think that’s why she’s been extra fussy recently. I can also see the top ones coming down but they’re not through yet.

As for toys she loves chewy ones and crinkly books, noisy/ lit up toys, remote controls and my son’s duplo.

JD90 · 26/05/2024 18:34

My LO seems to be the opposite of many on here, she can roll from front to back if I out her on her tummy but generally hates being on her tummy for long but has absolutely zero interest in rolling herself the other way. Unless we are feeding in side lying position and as soon as I lay down next to her she swings her arm and leg to roll herself onto her side.
As for weaning we went with a BLW approach and she's doing really well so far, very little gagging, choking or pulling faces just sheer determination to eat everything she can get her little hands on, definitely her fathers daughter! It can be difficult though as she gets easily frustrated when she wants to eat something and can't get enough of it in her mouth or if I'm trying to save a bit of mess or help and feed her. She absolutely hates it if anyone tries to help her at all.

Alloveragain3 · 26/05/2024 22:14

Ok, panicking mum alert!
I'll admit, I can have a bit of health anxiety, so hoping this is a case of that.

I've just noticed while feeding her, that DD has a small and faint yellowy/brown bruise on her thigh?! Quite small, maybe the size of a 20p. No idea what could have caused this and she's obviously not crawling or anything yet.
Google is sending me a bit crazy as it says all sorts of sinister things.
I'm hoping it's a case of her pinching herself by mistake (she pinches me all the times and can cause bruises on me!), or maybe a pinch from her buggy seatbelt or carseat or bugaboo or something??
I guess also possible she has rolled on to a pointy toy in her play pen or something.

Has anyone else's little one ever had a little bruise like this? I'm freaking out a wee bit :/

JoyApple · 27/05/2024 07:15

@Alloveragain3 as you said, she's probably pinched herself. Nothing to worry about :)

My LO can roll herself over to one side only but also can't roll herself back to her back. She also hates tummy time. Seems it's many of us whose babies dislike tummy time. That's reassuring. No idea where NHS got it's guidelines from!

user666555 · 27/05/2024 11:11

Had a difficult night over here 😭. Baby keeps turning in the crib onto her stomach and then keeps getting annoyed and frustrated. Have spent the majority of the night turning her back onto her back (id leave her to sleep on her tummy if she wasn't crying but she keeps turning then crying) same with today's nap so far. Again - keeps turning into her tummy and crying.

Anyone else?
