@JoyApple My little one had her 3rd vaccines last week and was surprisingly fine.

She got a fever with the first set, but not this one.

She was a tiny bit fussy for 24 hours but was so much better than I was expecting.

Nov2023 · 19/03/2024 20:33

@Alloveragain3 we have vaccines this week so this is great to hear! Hoping our little guy manages to sail through them. @JoyApple Hope your LO has an easy time too

Spareincoming · 19/03/2024 20:35

@Psqueak87 Great to hear from you, I was thinking of you the other day as my friends down in Calgary were saying it’s been the least Canadian winter they’ve ever had so I was hoping you’d been able to have some decent strolls out!

Psqueak87 · 19/03/2024 20:49

@Spareincoming yeah winter has been crazy, we had a couple of really cold weeks, -30c’s but it’s been great otherwise! Had no snow at all until January. Been getting out on lots of walks. Ironically named her the welsh word for snow the year we get no snow!

hope everything has been going well for you 🙂

Thack · 20/03/2024 19:35

@FlyingHighFlyingLow that sounds so difficult. Do you have much help to get some rest?

@Psqueak87 such a cutie! If you catch paw patrol in Welsh sometime then one of the dogs is Eira. There's usually a few Welsh episodes kicking around on iPlayer, next time you are over.

How's it been today @LeeanneD11 ?

We have 3rd set of jabs on Friday too. I hope they go smoothly for everyone

Nov2023 · 20/03/2024 20:07

@FlyingHighFlyingLow our babies sounded very similar a while back but omeprazole and possibly time and growing has made an incredible difference to my little one. I was so conflicted as I didn't want to use the medication but I knew he needed it so I pushed my disinterested GP and so far it looks like my gut feeling was correct. My boy has maintained a high percentile level for weight so that was never an issue but the constant discomfort crying and inability to settle out of my arms showed something wasn't right. I hope you keep pushing and get some support. It sounds so incredibly tough so well done for managing! The drop in percentile might be enough for your HV or 111 to refer you elsewhere if your GP won't help?

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 20/03/2024 21:30

The centile drop was enough for HV to kick GP up the ass. We have infant gaviscon and I'm giving up dairy. For breastfed babies they say to dilute it in 30ml water per sachet - thats 60ml of water a feed. Surely those 2oz per feed is going to take up milk space which I really don't want considering he's dropped the centiles. I'm trying to express milk to make it up in but struggling to get enough. Briefly toyed in using formula to make it up in but he's never had formula so I'm worried it'll upset his tummy! 15 weeks tomorrow so a bit to go before he's weaning.

Nov2023 · 20/03/2024 21:46

I'm glad you are finally getting some help. I tried gaviscon but it didn't suit us. I dissolved in 15ml though, not 30ml. someone here possibly @Spareincoming advised on a frieda dummy style medicine feeder which I used to get the gaviscon in. I am also dairy free and not sure it made a difference but I am afraid to stop! Good luck!

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 20/03/2024 22:31

I've been experimenting today with how little can get away with. 30 mL in bottle works well. Tried 10ml with calpol syringe but much messier 😅

Spareincoming · 20/03/2024 22:35

@FlyingHighFlyingLow great up hear you’ve got somewhere! @Nov2023 yep, I’m the frida fan, I swear by them!

DollyGx · 21/03/2024 06:26

Those that are having a nightmare with baby waking when the dummy falls out (sorry can’t remember who it was) is this still happening for you? It’s been at least 8 weeks of it now for us and I am exhausted! Don’t know whether trying to wean her off the dummy is my best bet? Although that terrifies me! I’m not sure I can wait until she’s able to put it back in herself which is likely still a good few months away, I need sleep! I thought it was a 4 month regression thing but I’m not sure it is given how long it has gone on :(

foodislife1 · 21/03/2024 09:08

@DollyGx yes we had /have a dummy issue. She's teething at the moment so I'm giving the dummy when needed to ease the discomfort but I think we will be weaning her off it soon especially for sleep

reememberly · 21/03/2024 16:17

Hi everyone! Sorry to hear about the struggles some are having and hope babies feel better soon.
I don’t feel like we have much discernible pattern or routine, but thinking about trying to establish something a bit more predictable after the clock change. But she’s currently doing her longest stretch after I go to bed so maybe I’ll regret trying to establish an earlier bedtime? Can’t make up my mind.

My poor baby has had an upset stomach for the last couple of weeks, think it was a bug. Back to nighttime poo nappy changes has been a killer. Feel like it’s slowly improving now though. Unfortunately coincided with our first trip away, so had to take literally all her clothes and a huge packet of nappies for a few days’ trip. Home now and I am absolutely shattered!!

DollyGx · 21/03/2024 19:45

@foodislife1 i think we’ll need to do the same at some point, although I’m not sure how as she’s not a great sleeper at the best of times let alone without the dummy! Let me know how you get on if you do decide to go dummy-less, I’m here for all the tips!

DollyGx · 21/03/2024 21:32

Ladies talk to me about day time naps, we are struggling atm! Used to be always contact naps, she won’t do that anymore. She naps ok in her pram when we are out but it’s exhausting walking so much with her everyday just to get her to sleep and stay asleep (wakes up as soon as I stop/get home). So today I put her down in her crib pretty much the same way we do bedtime - nightlight with lullaby playing, dark room and in her sleep bag. She napped well, one nap 1.5hrs and the other one 2hrs, but she got SO upset when she woke up. Have I confused her thinking it’s bedtime then she’s upset when she wakes up? Is it wrong to do the same for day time naps as night time? There is the cot through in her nursery but I prefer to be in our bedroom with her in the snuzpod. Help!

How long before nap did you feed? Could it be simple as hungry since napped well? Mine always wakes screaming from naps no matter how he naps. Crib, contact, pram, carseat. He's finally been tested for reflux/CMPA though.

DollyGx · 21/03/2024 21:52

@FlyingHighFlyingLow Maybe fed an hour before nap? I suppose it could just be hunger, she did have a bottle almost right after waking so you’re probably right. It was just very hysterical crying so it surprised me a bit as she’s always quite happy after a nap and rarely wakes crying in the night. She did have reflux but that seems to be a lot better now. Was just worried incase I muck up the bedtime routine which is the one part of the day she’s pretty good at!

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 21/03/2024 21:59

Mine always cries, wakes every 45-90 min at night crying and every nap too 😭 he cries very loud without even opening his eyes. I would guess for yours 3 hrs is probably hungry but as said, don't really have any experience with a baby that wakes happy!

DollyGx · 21/03/2024 22:20

@FlyingHighFlyingLow oooft that’s rough! I wonder if it’s the 4 month thing and him trying to link sleep cycles?? God knows! If it makes you feel any better she’s not one of these happy/chilled babies, she also cries ALOT and really hard. And I think if she didn’t have her dummy we would also be waking crying every 45-90mins or even less, first part of the night is ok but after the first night feed I’m normally awake from around 3am just putting her dummy back in, as if she stirs and realises she doesn’t have it she wakes and cries. Are you able to settle him and get him back to sleep when he cries at night? Oh to have a baby that sleeps :)

JoyApple · 22/03/2024 05:48

@DollyGx @foodislife1 I'm also one that's having to wake up to put dummy back in. For a couple of weeks it was real tough, felt like it was every hour. However now she's only taking 3 feeds during the day and wants two feeds at night (she's usually only needed one) so I'm not sure what's going on. She tends to sleep alot better after the night feeds, and before them I keep trying the dummy hoping it's just dummy she wants.

We actually introduced the dummy for the day time feeds but she's refusing it during the day and using it at night alot. Is it possible to wean her off just for night time? The challenge is my poor DH, he needs his rest with a very busy work schedule so it feels easier to just put dummy in. Any advice welcome :)

JoyApple · 22/03/2024 05:51

@DollyGx I was quite strict with no naps in bedroom during the day but I had to give in with the 4 month sleep regression. And I've found she sleeps alot better and goes down much happier when in her bedside crib, although now that you mention it she often wakes up crying, but I don't think that's a big deal, to me that's just saying get me out :) i would do whatever makes life easier for you!

JoyApple · 22/03/2024 05:52

Also I think my LO knows when we go up for bedtime as the lamp is switched on, and it isn't switched on during the day. So you could just have one variable different for bedtime :)

Spareincoming · 22/03/2024 06:34

I gave up at midnight and put LO in the pram, pushed it up and down the kitchen for 10 minutes then switched the Rockit on to get him to sleep. Then after an hour managed to transfer to the next to me cot. I was all touched out by about 3pm so the 11pm onwards sleep fight was not appreciated.

@JoyApple @DollyGx @foodislife1
I’m in the dummy club as well, I was begging for my son to take the dummy when he was little( he never did) and was super happy when my DD did- now I’m regretting it. It’s great sometimes but I have to wake up all the time to put it back in and I really struggle to go back to sleep. I’m thinking I’ll go cold turkey soon when I can face the challenge..

@FlyingHighFlyingLow my son cried after most naps until he was about 1.5. In hindsight I think it was cows milk protein allergy and/ or silent reflux but our doctors/ specialists never did anything and brushed us off. My mummy heart breaks thinking about how uncomfortable he must’ve been.

JoyApple · 22/03/2024 09:43

@Travellingislife I had same, previous DC refused so I was very happy when this one took. Are you planning to go cold turkey just at night? I need to do this before LO loves from bedside crib to cot which can't be next to us due to space. I feel like she's soon going to outgrown crib ...
