@Nov2023 Thanks, it’s not great but we’re determined to get the problems sorted.

We have a jumperoo, the original fisher price one and a travel one and I do like it but I am tempted by something like the skip hop activity centre, but they’re not cheap on Facebook marketplace like a normal jumperoo is!

@Spareincoming another one to investigate thanks! I'm happy enough to buy investable items new as this our first baby and we will hopefully reuse if life goes to plan!

Thack · 16/03/2024 17:11

@Nov2023 we got our jumperoo out this week. We've had to put a box underneath because little legs won't touch the floor otherwise!
It's a hit, but just for jumping, they haven't played with any of the toys (can't reach/not trying!)

I got mine second hand on FB. It was great condition and clean (and easily cleaned to be double sure). DC1 was cruising along it when they were up and about. It had ok longevity.

My only criticism is that it takes up a lot of room. I don't know of the alternatives.

Thack · 16/03/2024 20:01

How is everyone's LO doing for making sounds?

Mine sometimes makes vocal noises, but hasn't blown raspberries or done fake coughs or any babbling.
I'm not too worried yet but DC1 was super verbal (and an early talker too) so this seems very different. I have a video from around this age of them squarking and playing with their voice and I'm sure they were coughing by now too.

Nov2023 · 16/03/2024 20:18

I didn't know fake coughing was a thing but my boy is super loud and it is adorable. Loads of squeals and babbles and trying to mimic my sounds and sing along to my songs. He has even started to laugh which has made my whole week! He also cries and screams a lot with discomfort so the happy noises are so lovely. He isn't particularly interested in playing with toys or trying to roll yet though.

Thack · 16/03/2024 20:41

No signs of rolls here either. We don't do much tummy time admittedly, only really tolerates it at baby groups.
Seems very keen to be on the move though. This baby is more motor skills where DC1 was verbal. It is interesting to see the difference but it's helpful to see what others a similar age are up to.

LeeanneD11 · 16/03/2024 20:43

My little one babbles & trying to laugh too , he doesn't like laying down on his back or stomach he prefers to sit up in his little chair no signs of trying to roll over yet xx

Travellingislife · 16/03/2024 21:07

My LO just turned 4 months and the last week I’ve seen a huge change in her interest in toys, now she loves hitting them to get them to make noises and she reaches for everything. She’s trying to roll too, mostly from her back to her stomach whereas my son started rolling from his front to his back.
She’s making lots of noises and is laughing too, it’s so cute!
What isn’t so cute is her refusal to take the bottle and she is refusing a daddy put down.. It’s exhausting and I really miss just being able to be on my own for a few hours. She wants to feed/ sleep every 1.5-2h so that’s the longest I can leave her for. Her brother needs me too and I want to spend time with him as well of course so it makes it difficult to recharge without kids.. I’m telling myself it’s only for a short period though and it’ll get easier.

foodislife1 · 16/03/2024 22:19

@Nov2023 yes mine does the fake cough too! Which then turns into a chuckle 🤭
Only just started rolling today ..back to front and definitely likes to be 'sat up' so she can see what's going on around her

We have a door bouncer! Haven’t got it down yet for DD but it takes up almost no space

Thack · 17/03/2024 19:44

@PinkPlantCase the 3 yo would have a field day with that! It's been a battle to stop then bouncing/swinging the baby in the jumperoo. A door bouncer would be carnage 😂

Had a few more laughs from baby here today, been fun finding new things to prompt a giggle.
I think we have a vague baby attempt at waving. It's more like a salute, just the arm lifting a little but we're convinced it's with purpose.
Cue us waving across the room at every opportunity!

WriMum22 · 18/03/2024 06:25

Little girl is four and a half months and we saw a massive leap in development around 4 months, in the space of a week she started rolling over and laughing. I also noticed her becoming more interested in toys and she now reaches for things and grabs and hits her toys when laying on her play mat. She’s also experimenting with her voice and is very vocal with the noises, especially the high pitch squeals 😂. We even had her sitting up last night unaided for around 10/15 seconds, so I feel that’s the next big thing over the next month or so, she loves ‘sitting up’ and observing everything around her. I’m actually quite shocked at how quickly she’s moving along as I felt like the stages were much more spread out with my sons.

PinkPlantCase · 18/03/2024 08:06

@Thack we’ll have to see what our 2yo makes of it when we get it down 🤣

JoyApple · 18/03/2024 09:08

Lovely to hear how everyone's little one is developing.

My 4.5 month old isn't holding things yet nor sitting up alone. But lots of squeaking and bubbles blowing. She still doesn't like tummy time, I've got a chiropractor appointment booked as I suspected a stiff neck a while back.

Has anyone's LO had their 3rd set of jabs? How poorly did they become? Second jabs was great but 1st one was bad. Just need to prepare myself.

Anyone's LO still being swaddled?

PinkPlantCase · 18/03/2024 09:21

@JoyApple they have the meningitis jab again for the third set but not for the second, that’s the one that typically gives them a temperature. We have ours next week.

Spareincoming · 18/03/2024 10:36

We’ve had the 3rd set of jabs; LO was definitely more irritable this time but not significantly unwell; I just did the 4 doses of Calpol and didn’t notice a temperature spike.

We’ve just passed the 21 week mark but not at the rolling over stage by a good margin, LO will some times roll on to his side and no sign of self supported sitting. Reaching and grabbing is happening but not consistently, this morning he was shaking a rattle for about a minute.

This LO is definitely later with the motor skills development than the other DC but not worryingly so,
comparison being the thief of joy and all that.

Our early weaning still hasn’t taken off. The dog is enjoying having purées to clean up. Said dog has remembered he doesn’t like plain baby porridge though so that’s currently setting solid in a bowl on the kitchen worktop whilst I fanny about on mumsnet!

We had 3rd set last week, other than being upset at the actual time madam was absolutely fine with them this time. Only managed 2 of the paracetamol doses as we couldn't get any other in her no matter how we tried, luckily she was absolutely fine.

WriMum22 · 18/03/2024 10:51

@JoyApple my little one doesn’t like tummy time and I’ll admit I don’t really try with her as she just ends up crying and I prefer to let them develop in their own time and be guided by them so the crying tells me she doesn’t want to do it, so we don’t. Her neck is so strong when sitting up but the moment you lay her on her tummy she just refuses to lift her head for more than a few seconds, it baffles me in a lot of ways but I just take it as she’s not a tummy time girl 🙈

3rd jabs were the worse for us, she had a bad temp and was very unhappy, but luckily after 24 hours she was back to her normal self.

LeeanneD11 · 19/03/2024 07:10

Good morning all,

Is anyone else baby not well? 2 nights ago my little boy was waking up every 2hrs crying in his sleep , didn't want any bottles or dummy as his struggling with them still . Yesterdays he was in an out of sleep, he slept from 8.30am-2pm, so missed a bottle in between , had a bottle at 2pm yesterday but fell back to sleep for an hour & half , he was then wide awake but crying tried everything , and when I wanted to put him down he would scream, even when picking him up he would scream , his being sick but not loads and not after every bottle is there something going around or could this be side affect to jabs we had his second one last Tuesday . All he does want to do is sleep , he had a bottle at 8pm last night and went till 1am but didn't wake up for his 5am feed when he cries when he is picked up my ex partner said it sound like his in pain . His doing runny poos still . Am I best of phoning GP or 111, I have been giving him Calpol to lower his temp as he was hot yesterday xx

BabyBabyBaby123 · 19/03/2024 08:00

@LeeanneD11 you’re his mum, so know your baby best and if he doesn’t seem 100% then defo get him seen. My GP said he’d always prefer to see a young baby to check them over if I was concerned.

PinkPlantCase · 19/03/2024 10:15

@LeeanneD11 DD has had many colds and cough that took a long time to go. But she was never particularly unwell in herself, probably fed a bit more for comfort. I’d try the GP first if you can get in.

We had a really good experience with 111 recently. A friend who’s a paramedic heard DD cough and was worried that it was croup. 111 got a paediatrician to call us back a few hours later. The doctor listened to a video of her cough and gave us the option of emailing a video. He was happy that it wasn’t croup and was able to advise on how best to care for her. So do call 111 if you don’t haven any luck with the GP.

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 19/03/2024 15:12

My baby still not sleeping, still refluxing a lot and now so tired he's falling asleep feeding. GP kept refusing to give me an appointment but now he's dropped from 75th to 25th centile for weight. Developmentally he's fine, but thats a big drop.

Spareincoming · 19/03/2024 17:39

@FlyingHighFlyingLow
I’m sad to hear you’re not seeing any improvement and had crap support from the GP
That feels like a big drop to be ignored too, even when Lo has reflux - when I first had Dc and the reflux saga began it was 25% maximum drop before further investigation/meds but I gather that’s been scrapped in recent years.
Is your health visitor any use?

Hi all, haven’t checked in for a long time! Feel like I’m slowly having more time every day so hopefully I’ll be better at checking in and reading everyone’s updates.

Eira is 19 weeks today. Daddy is going back to work in 2 weeks so it’ll just be us two then. Very grateful for having him off all this time.

she still wakes every 2-4 hours at night. Usually bed at 8pm, wakes at 11.30 for a feed, 3.30 for a feed, then 6am which is when I struggle to get her back to sleep but I’ve dropped that feed so I just bring her into my bed and hold her. I can usually get her back to sleep by about 6.45 and then she’ll sleep till 8.

looking forward to starting some blw/pure combo in about a month. Starting a little earlier than 6 months because MIL is coming to stay and I’m 100% sure if I haven’t started yet, she will want to start it for me, and probably not using foods I approve of, lol. So thought I will get a head start at about 5.5 months.

PPA is lessening by the day. Although right now she’s rolling back to belly, and can’t seem to fathom that she needs to turn her head to breathe, so she lays face down on her baby rug. So that is giving me some moments where I’m like do I help / do I leave it so she works out what to do…

still trying to get a giggle out of her. I’m telling her all my fave jokes, but she’s stone faced.

hope everyone’s doing well. I’m gonna read back through a few pages tonight at bed time.

happy belated Mother’s Day to everyone. It’s not Mother’s Day here in Canada until May. But luckily I remembered just in time to send my mum one in the Uk, and her first year as a Nonna gift too!
