Oh my goodness. The drool has ramped up today. Poor babe had tried to put everything in their mouth and only had contact naps.
I hate teeth!!

WriMum22 · 11/03/2024 06:17

We have a very dribbly baby, constantly chewing her hands and only ever sleeps for 30 mins a time during the day, primarily contact naps. She sleeps brilliant at night and goes 8pm till about 6/7am so I do feel we are incredibly lucky despite the rubbish day time naps.

She laughed for the first time over a week ago, a very short laugh but then last night she really belly laughed. What’s even funnier was that it was her brothers play fighting that set her off with the giggles, and normally im telling the boys to calm down but last night I was encouraging them so we could film the little one laughing.. parenting eh 😂

Nov2023 · 11/03/2024 07:00

@WriMum22 How cute 🥰 I can't wait for the laughs but none for us yet! We also have so much dribbles and baby has been eating his entire hands too but since about 8 weeks so who knows if it is teeth or not!

@Thack Thanks for that. I don't particularly want any mam merch but my husband wanted to buy me a mummy cup which I declined and felt bad because he was excited. I'm sure with an English baby that I will end up as mummy eventually but I'll fight it for now!

WriMum22 · 11/03/2024 08:05

@Nov2023 She was due 21st November but ended up coming 3 weeks earlier on the 31st October, so the whole journey started earlier than expected and it is just flying. She’s 4 and a half months old and I still feel like I should be pregnant, it’s going too fast 😂

Alloveragain3 · 11/03/2024 10:55

@Katiec1 What a spread, love it!
I'm Irish but there's something about my toddler saying mummy in his little English accent that I find so cute 😍

Katiec1 · 11/03/2024 11:31

@Alloveragain3 oh I’d imagine that sounds cute 😍 they can call me anything but MA. My older girls have been told to never ever call me that 🙈😂

Spareincoming · 11/03/2024 14:57

I’m a Mammy because I’m from the North East originally and can’t abide being called Mummy. Where we are there’s a real mix and I always thought it was a Mammy part of the world. The DC often bring home Mummy things from school, and change them at home!

We’ve swapped the newborn chair to the highchair on our Tripp-Trapp dupe this weekend. Where is the baby stage going! I usually want it to fly by but as this Lo is the last I’m trying to treasure it a bit more…

LO is still not ready for weaning in my opinion but I’ve swapped the seats to feeding mode to show some kind of willing.
Still haven’t heard from the paeds dietician either.

@Katiec1 We used to call my mam Ma to wind her up! She hated it. Bonus points for howiya too!

JoyApple · 11/03/2024 21:03

Hi everyone, anyone struggling with night time regular waking up for dummy? Not sure what to do tbh. It's almost like it's every 45 min or so, but I can't even be sure tbh. Just very tired!

foodislife1 · 11/03/2024 21:34

@JoyApple this is me!!
No idea what to do, hoping it's still the tail end of the regression and longer stretches of sleep should start soon.
The dummy is a sleep crutch but feel like she's too young to take it away completely

DollyGx · 11/03/2024 21:51

@JoyApple @foodislife1 omg we are going through the EXACT same!! Have been for maybe 2 weeks now? Or longer possibly I don’t even know, it’s brutal!! I’m thinking it must be a regression/developmental thing if we’re all going through it?? My wee girl will be 17 weeks on Wednesday. I brought her in the bed with me last night and had a much better sleep I don’t really know why as she’s normally only in a snuzpod literally attached to the bed but she must be much more settled actually in the bed next to me, no dummy wake ups, it was bliss! Although I know cosleeping isn’t the answer for everyone! I’ll do anything for sleep just now though 🥲

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 11/03/2024 22:49

13 week here and I haven't had a stretch of sleep longer than 90 mins in over a month now. I wish popping dummy back in would settle but doesn't, screams blue murder very quickly and only thing that consoles is boob. Cosleeping actually makes worse - he wakes more frequently, cries more like in pain, arches back, kicks and vomits. He's always been very sicky and always suspected silent reflux but GP refused to see him and said needed to go through HV that hasn't got back to me. His next to me is on a slant and only thing he isn't sick in. Last night he woke up 7 times in the night 😭

DollyGx · 11/03/2024 23:37

@FlyingHighFlyingLow oh that’s shit! I’m saying it’s only been happening to us for about 2 weeks but come to think of it she was doing it at 12 weeks so it’s been more like a month too or possibly longer! Really tough that the dummy doesn’t settle him. That’s ridic that the GP wouldn’t see you?? We were back and forth to the GP for silent reflux issues. In the end I just gave up as omeprazole caused other issues that were worse than the reflux. Luckily I think she’s starting to grow out of it and got her tongue tie snipped which I think has helped, although she has been arching her back more when feeding lately. Have you checked for other things that can cause reflux such as tongue tie or milk allergy/intolerance?

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 12/03/2024 10:35

He's breastfed, and has fed without issues since birth so I would have thought he'd have had issues with feeding if he had tongue tie. Could be intolerance to something in my milk but I would have thought he'd be worse when he's awake if it was. During the day, once he's awake and playing upright he's happy and has even started giggling. He loves nursery rhymes and babbles away. There is an outside chance for early teething, he always has his hands in his mouth and recently keeps grabbing my hand and putting my fingers in his mouth and hes biting rather than sucking. But if he's flat he's not happy. Put flat too soon after feeding and he's throwing up.

foodislife1 · 12/03/2024 14:56

@FlyingHighFlyingLow that sounds rough! Also sounds like reflux?

Has anyone transitioned from BF to Formula? I'm trying to do that now for various reasons but little one won't take more than 2-3 oz at a time as opposed to the recommended 7oz.

Cause for concern or will it jsut take time?

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 12/03/2024 17:32

I believe its reflux, but what would I know! Latest is HV won't do anything until they've weighed him since I'm breastfeeding because it could be a supply issue. He's 13 weeks and filling out 3-6 month clothes!

How much expressed breast milk will baby take in a bottle? Is the reduced volume formula dependent or generally bottle feeding?

foodislife1 · 12/03/2024 18:09

I haven't expressed, I have just tried with formula. I think she's prob just used to feeding regularly, like she was when BF.
Will see how it goes!

JoyApple · 15/03/2024 07:50

Hi, does anyone know roughly when the 4 month sleep regression ends? Last night she was up wide awake playing and didn't want milk either.

I'm shattered! :( she's such a chill baby, that this has taken us by surprise.

Anyone else have a baby that was swaddled since birth? My LO loves being swaddled but is now fighting it off at night. No idea why. It might just be because she's awake, but I'm wondering whether that might be a factor to her regular awakenings?

JoyApple · 15/03/2024 07:52

@DollyGx I'm glad the bringing in bed is working for you. I was tempted last night to do the same but I'm worried it might create another problem. Has anything else helped or worked for you or others?

DollyGx · 15/03/2024 09:10

@foodislife1 my formula fed baby is still on 6oz bottles and rarely finishes them, she seems to prefer little and often!
@JoyApple I think I spoke too soon, the following night I brought her in the bed and it was the constant dummy in and out the majority of the night so I’m now not convinced that really helps either! Every time I think I’ve cracked it, baby really humbles me 🙃🥲😅

PinkPlantCase · 15/03/2024 19:07

@JoyApple It improves slowly but it is a permanent change to their brain. My first was still waking 4-6 times a night at 9 months. Wake ups got much less frequent around the time he turned 1.

Some babies might be out of it faster but that wasn’t out experience. At 2 yo DS often wakes up once in the night.

Spareincoming · 15/03/2024 22:34

Hey all, can’t believe Lo is rapidly approaching the 5 month mark! Where is the time going!

Things are a bit rough for us at the moment, one of the DC is having a difficult time at school and school aren’t being great and we’re in the midst of a sleep screw up. Which isn’t helping my patience when dealing with school!

Lo will not settle between 12am and 2am. Doesn’t want to be held or played with but is awake and chatting and playing in the crib, at 1:30am the crying to be held starts.
DH will be lambing soon and I’m dreading it if this happens then!

Weaning still isn’t happening either!

I am so glad it’s the weekend!

@Spareincoming you have my sympathy with the school stuff. My older is still really struggling with school and her mental health and such. She's on a much reduced timetable but only managing to attend a few hours a week and is lucky if she sleeps more than 3 hours a night and never until at least 4am thanks to racing brain and horrid intrusive thoughts. Everyone here is absolutely exhausted all the time!

Spareincoming · 15/03/2024 23:00

@JD90 I’m sorry to read you’re going through the school
stuff too, its so tough isn’t it.
Ours is very clearly down to school not following the reasonable adjustments plan (that was implemented in September) around DC’s dyslexia at all this half term and now DC is struggling with the anxiety that manifested during Covid.
The headteacher is excellent but has been sick leave since December and the school is struggling across the board without her leadership, lots of things are going a-miss, definitely not just my DC this is happening to.

@Spareincoming Sorry to hear you and others are having to deal with issues with other children as well as the baby. That sounds really hard.

I'd anyone getting a jumper like a jumparoo? Baby is out growing his tripp trapp newborn seat and I think the highchair will be boring if it's not for feeding. He never had a swing or bouncer chair thing so am thinking maybe jumperoo or I also saw this puggle one. Have never heard of puggle though so no idea of quality and safety. Reviews seem to be limited. Has anyone seen one or have any suggestions please? https://www.online4baby.com/p/puggle-3in1-360-bounce-twist-play-baby-entertainer-scattered-stars-grey
