My boy is finally being seen for reflux today. Well a push doc appointment so not seen as such but all we can get. am hoping it improves his reflux and les him be happy enough to be occasionally put down on his bbay gym or go in the carseat or pram. @FlyingHighFlyingLow 45 minutes is torture.. Hope you are doing as well as you can @foodislife1 I can't even imagine trying to do this whole also having to consider a toddler's needs. Or basically any needs or responsibilities at all!

Thack · 06/03/2024 10:24

@foodislife1 I'm with you. I'm so bored and run down.
Trying to go to more baby groups but sitting with other mums that I just know from having kids the same age isn't a substitute for meaningful time out.

Wishing everyone well this mother's day, especially those where it's your first!

My husband is awful, he doesn't get it. I'm preparing to be disappointed, trying to think where I can sneak out to so that I'm not stuck indoors.

Spareincoming · 06/03/2024 10:57

@foodislife1 Snap. I’m so over this baby stage! I’m trying to get out and about and join in at groups but they don’t fill the void!

@Thack My DH doesn’t get it either; I’ve given up hoping; he’s the same with Christmas and birthdays, they’re not a thing to him. I’m the opposite so it’s a wee bit frustrating!
I’ll take the DCs somewhere on Saturday I think and have lunch out as my treat.

@foodislife1 I was only saying yesterday how upset I am that I’m not enjoying my days when DD2 is off nursery (she is 2) and I have both of them at home on my own.
I keep thinking that when I am back at work I will miss this time with them, but the days are so stressful and getting out of the house feels impossible without one of us crying - either them 2 or me!
I asked if he thinks everyone with a 2 under 2 gap feels like this and he said maybe our toddler is just wild, which didn’t really make me feel better …
Even when she is in nursery it is a nightmare getting us all ready and out of the house at a reasonable time and don’t get me started on the battle I have getting that double buggy into my car boot.

foodislife1 · 06/03/2024 15:13

Thanks for your replies! Feel better that I'm
Not the only one that feels like this :)

Thack · 06/03/2024 17:24

@Spareincoming my husband must have been on the same course! I've given up on birthdays and Xmas but MD still upsets me. He won't have remembered it this year, we've had a lot on recently (to give some slack), but he wouldn't have noticed anyway.

@BabyBabyBaby123 same here. I could not have 3yo home full time, I'd go insane.
It will get easier. DC1 is now potty trained and can help get themselves dressed (if the mood takes, not so much TBF!!). The increased communication is also useful, we can have conversations and explain what/why things need doing.

DollyGx · 06/03/2024 20:27

Anyone not breastfeeding and still not had a period?? Bubs is 16 weeks today, have never breastfed and still no sign of a period. And no I’m not pregnant 😅 not sure when I should start to get concerned?!

WriMum22 · 06/03/2024 20:29

@DollyGx I haven’t breastfed and period came back after 6/7 weeks, similar to my two other pregnancies. I have read though that for some people it can take months, even when not breastfeeding. Maybe check in with your HV or GP if you’re worried, but in all honesty I think it’s normal. Takes time for our bodies to get back to normal.

Katiec1 · 07/03/2024 08:25

@DollyGx after my first 2 pregnancies periods came back before 12 weeks pp. With this one it was back about 6-7 weeks.
It can vary for all of us. As said above maybe check with gp, to put your mind at ease.

Hope all ye ladies are keeping well. This is a very rare minute I have to come on here 🙈

Just a quick one while I’m here…has any one (this baby or previous) had to have an ultrasound on their babies brain.
Our little girl dropped 2 centiles in weight and height (she was quite large when she was born compared to her older sister as they are very petite) Health nurse doesn’t seem concerned as both the weight and height seem to be following the same path on the centile chart and she said that developmentally baby is doing good.
She measured her head circumference and it has also dropped which is why she wants an ultrasound sound to be done, she also said while soft spot is still open it’s a good time to get it done.
In my heart I really don’t feel anything is wrong but there’s always that little bit of doubt there, so was just wondering has anyone been through the same?

DollyGx · 07/03/2024 16:52

@WriMum22 @Katiec1 thanks, got the HV round next week so I’ll mention it to her. Not too concerned, think you’re probably right in the sense that it can just take a bit longer for some! I wondered if it was the stress of new baby keeping it away 😅

@Katiec1 sorry no experience with brain scans. I think you’re probably right though nothing to worry about, HV probably just wanting to play it safe.

I know I'm a little early but does anyone know how the free nursery funding works from September? How do you apply etc?

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 07/03/2024 19:10

Is the term after they become eligible so apply Oct/Novish this year for Jan 2025 I think!

I believe I can apply for Sept 2024 as my little one will be 9 months on 9th August meaning she will be 10 months in September

user666555 · 08/03/2024 11:38

Hello,

Hope you're all well.

Does anyone else's baby nap for 30 minutes at a time? My LO only naps for 30 minutes at a time unless I'm out with her in the pram. Obviously I can't do this for every nap of hers but it's like she knows when it's 30 minutes and she'll wake up. Anyone else?

P.S. Can't use a sling/baby carrier as I have a bad back

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 08/03/2024 14:00

Mine does the same and contact naps. Occasionally contact naps can stretch longer. He's heavy so I support myself with cushions/pillows on the sofa. Is that an option?

foodislife1 · 08/03/2024 22:03

Also part of the 30-45mins nap club here. Sleeps longer if in pram or contact nap.

JoyApple · 08/03/2024 22:38

My baby who was a great sleeper seems to have now joined the 30-45 min nap group, unless in the car :(

I don't know who was asking about reflux and weaning early. We've found weaning early (due to highly risk of allergies) has triggered her reflux, so we are taking a break now and back on milk only. Will see how it goes.

My LO is fighting her sleep. Every single nap time is a battle unless in car seat. Not sure where I've suddenly seemed to have gone so wrong?

user666555 · 09/03/2024 09:52

Yep, my baby used to sleep well. She used to have good solid naps and have decent stretches at night. She also used to put herself back to sleep after her night feeds.

Well, all that has now changed. It's a NIGHTMARE getting her to nap. She cries after I put her back down after a feed for her night sleep.

She's been really fussy and has started really chewing on her fists, crying a lot more, drooling somewhat more. I'm wondering if she's started teething? Either that - or an early regression of some sort? 🙈

Thack · 09/03/2024 11:02

@user666555 sounds like teeth on the move, we have the same.
DC1 was the same at this age, they had their first break at around 8mo.

We're using the Ashton and Parsons teething gel. The applicator helps massage the gum and it's suitable from 3mo.

Naps are variable. Similar length to you all but we're getting some longer wake windows so I think it might be time to drop a nap. I say that but I'm not tracking to know!

JoyApple · 09/03/2024 23:01

@user666555 I'm thinking it's teething too. Entire fist is going in her mouth. I did get teething gel but struggling to apply. Might get the powder instead.

She's often also refusing milk despite being so hungry. It's a real strange one.

I wonder how one can do any sleep training whilst they are teething.

Nov2023 · 10/03/2024 06:49

Another sleep changer here and he wasn't a great sleeper to start with so this is not so fun . Hard to know if it's teething as he has had excess saliva from about 6 weeks maybe due to reflux. no sign of any swelling or flinching if i touch a particular area of gum though.

Did anyone who has given omeprazole to their baby have issues with sleep? The constant night wakes match up with starting omeprazole but it may also be teething or approaching 4 months. So hard to know! I can't see a major improvement in contentment or comfort yet but I hope it will come

Nov2023 · 10/03/2024 07:03

Also with the omeprazole we are having hiccups 30 mins after every single feed and they are bothering him. Before he had hiccups twice a day directly after some feeds. Has anyone had this? Thanks in advance. We are trying to change GP because they won't entertain a follow up for these questions. They seem happy to leave baby suffer once they gain weight 😭

Katiec1 · 10/03/2024 09:07

@Katiec1 very cute! I love your Mam mug. I have told my husband to wait for a trip home to Ireland to get something with Mam on it. I don't want to be Mummy!

Thack · 10/03/2024 16:34

@Nov2023 it's mam in Wales too, you might find something if you're ever this side of the boarder (more likely in a Welsh merch shop)
