After a bit of cajoling from some friends (some of whom I hope can join me here soon), I decided to take the plunge and start this thread.

Anyway, I have just found out I am pregnant again, got a BFP on Saturday 23rd at 12dpo, which gives me an EDD of 3rd November 2008 (or the 4th, depending on which calculator I use). This is my 4th pregnancy and will be my 3rd child. I am super excited and a little scared & nervous after a previous missed miscarriage.

I hope I don't get too lonely waiting for more BFP's to roll in! Please come and join me.

Just updating my position on the list because I had my early scan yesterday and all is well Measured 7+3 and EDD is now 3 November. We saw a heartbeat and got a photo to take home. Can't stop looking at it as it still hasn't sunk in... After my mmc last September it was just such a relief to see something on the screen. It suddenly makes it more real that there is a bean in there! I think I might start telling the people who knew last time and who supported me after my mc now, although I realise it's still very early days. It's difficult to know what to do isn't it?
Welcome newbies and hope everybody is OK today.

Oh cricri, thats great news, isn't it nice to have a picture. I know with DS that I almost wanted him to be breech so i could have more scans!
Welcome to the new BFPs, November is going to be a busy month.
Does anyone know about AN care in Oxfordshire as we were in Cambs when DS was born?

chocolategal · 21/03/2008 16:01

that is good news crici, im very jealous as like dozymare i am feeling very worried today
i am seriously thinking about paying for a private reassurance scan next week ( i will be 7weeks by then) no real reason to be worried just lots of general pains today and yest, dull aches in back and tummy which my pregnant friend tells me is stretching pains but when you've never experienced it before its frightening!

welcome to all the new bfp's!

Renaissancewoman · 21/03/2008 16:38

dont know whether to tell my Mum. I am staying with her for a couple of days. I took an impromptu nap and I heard her saying to my daughter "oh is Mummy being a lazy bones". I am a bit run down and she thinks I am always ill and have somekind of immunity problem. Truth is I hang out with under 5s and catch an average amount of bugs. My Mum is very judgmental. I want to tell her to get her off my back but also want some privacy about pregnancy.

twinklingfairy · 21/03/2008 16:41

Oh dozymare sounds like you have the wrong name, should be given to your sil for a bit
I think that was a bit of a silly thing to say but I am sure you are right and she may live to regret being so insensitive, then again, she may not remember saying it.

Hello to new BFP's, don't worry about the pains emmaji lots of us have them. I am sure your MW will sort you out
That was fast work, getting the appointment so soon.

PIL are coming up next weekend, so DH and I will tell them then. Then will go see my parents and tell them too.
Then I will get appointment to tell doc. It might all seems a bit more real then.
I plan to tell them the same way I did DH. Gonna pee on a CBD then ask them to have a look at this thing, and stand back for reactions
I have only told one person so far.
DH and I decided I could tell anyone who specifically asked. So I cunningly brought the conversation round to it, with my friend yesterday. It took her AGES to ask, my hints were sooo heavy, she laughed at me afterwards!
I am only 4+6 today, wish I was further on. Then again, don't fancy the bad MS I had last time, so I guess I am happy where I am for now

suiledonn · 21/03/2008 16:48

Hi everyone, I don't know how some of you are managing to keep it a secret for so long. I am 6+5 today and have told loads of people. Part of the reason is that I am having bad ms and nausea so anyone who sees me guesses something is going on and I was the same when expecting dd.
I suppose the only good thing about the nausea is that it puts your mind at rest that everything is ok when you wake up every day feeling sick.

chocolategal · 21/03/2008 17:01

i have just booked in for a private scan tmw at 9.30am! think i am overreacting a bit but what the hell if it stops me worrying ALL the time!!!!

will keep you guys posted so fingers crossed
x

SoExcited · 21/03/2008 17:09

It's really hard not to tell people. We told my parents and siblings at 4 weeks, and DHs at 5 weeks. I'm now 5+6 and we're off to a party at friends tonight. I'm not that great a liar, and I'm not sure the fact that I'm driving will cover it up that well... who drives to a party?! I'm going to try saying that I've not been feeling too great (which is true so I might actually sound convincing!)

Emmanj · 21/03/2008 17:13

thats good news chocolategal - let us know how you get on tomorrow - that was good gettting in over the Easter Weekend!
Have been reading Pinkali37's posts about having ovary pain and some sort of cysts and im reassured now as i think ive also been having this!
Any cravings yet from anyone? I seem to just want stodge all the time!

twinklingfairy · 21/03/2008 17:40

I was going to mention the cysts emmaj but didn't want to frighten you, so deleted the sentence
It is so nice to know that others are deaing with the same issues isn't it?

Talking of same issues, suiledonn I feel for you. I am so dreading when the ms starts. I am trying to keep positive and will deal with it if/when it happens but had flash backs a month or so ago that were scary enough.
DH is convinced I won't be hit so bad this time, so I think I will try to believe him and then blame him if he turns out to be wrong

divedaisy · 21/03/2008 18:32

Hi Gang. Well I had my scan this morning and it is still a mixture of good and uncertainty . According to my dates I should be about 7 weeks, but according to the scan I'm about 4-5 weeks. The sonographer could see the sac but not much else, so I'm back for a repeat scan in 2 weeks' time. I also got my blood hormone levels checked and they're through the roof... so it does look positive - there's something there and my levels are up, but I want to see a heartbeat! Also sore boobs and MS most of the day continues - even a hot chocolate with cream tasted terrible Anyway the longer the side effects continue the more positive I am!

Has anyone ever fallen pregnant whilst on the pill and going through an extremely emotional time? If the sonographer is right about me being 4-5 weeks gone, I got pregnant between my FIL's death and his funeral....weird and a bit spooky Has anyone ever had their dates 2 weeks out?

tegan · 21/03/2008 18:43

well i bit the bullet and told my parents today.

firstly my dad has been very cuddly with me for about a week or so.

i got dad alone first and told him, he was chuffed and said that he thought i was over a week ago (hence the cuddling) then i braved my mum, she too was pleased well about as pleased as she gets about anything so i feel better that they know.

we now have to tell mil, fil and sil sometime over the weekend before the cmw gets spotted at my house and the local gossips get to work.

FlightyRachel · 21/03/2008 18:50

Hi, I'm back from Center Parcs, and still pregnant despite the salsa class, so thought I'd be assertive and add myself to your list! )

Hope everyone's thriving, and DozyMare, ignore your silly sil. Is there anything more annoying than people who decide they are a bit psychic and try and spook you to death?

Hi, wow hasn't this thread grown , I've been away in Wales with my family this week, so I've got a lot of catching up to do!
Hello to all the new bfp's! .

Divedaisy, you won't believe this, but I got pregnant between my fil's death and his funeral too , quite a few members of family have said things like, "oh one goes out of this world and another one comes in". Good luck with your scan in two weeks, I've got my fingers crossed for you .

Heartmum2Jamie · 22/03/2008 10:57

I think it's lovely that you guys are telling people. I really want to and dh has said a HUGE resounding NO. I can see that he is scared, but it does mean if anything does happen, I won't have any support, which ultimately will be harder. Dh doesn't seem to care about that, says he should be enough .

I thought about ringing the EPU today as was having really sharp pains last night. They seem to have settled this morning, now it just feels like I pulled something, oh and am having mild crampy feelings (which I know are normal, but can't help but read more into it). Ouch!

OP posts:
Heartmum2Jamie · 22/03/2008 11:01

Never mind, seems my local EPU requires a referal which I wouldn't be able to get until at least Tuesday and by then I hope to hear from my own hospital.

chocolategal · 22/03/2008 11:38

hi guys im just back from my private scan, and feeling much more positive, they think im only 6weeks (thought i was 7) but saw the sac and a heartbeat!!
im still anxious as its early days but happy to just wait now till 12 week scan at hosp!

hope everyone else is well today
x

dozymare · 22/03/2008 11:49

oh chocolate gal! Amazing news! Youmustbe so happy! Where did you get your private scan and how much...I am tempted now, just for reassurance....

chocolategal · 22/03/2008 12:00

hi dozy!
yeh i am happy my dh says i just need to look after myself and relax now!! easy for him to say!
i live in scotland so got it done in perth, it was £65.
they couldnt have been nicer, we were there for an hour and it felt like they were long lost friends. they specialise in 3D and 4D scanning but offer reassurance scans at anystage.
we got 3 lovely pics home, one of the sac and two of the heartbeat tracing!
i say if you can afford it just go for it, it has certainly put my mind at ease (for just now anyway!!)
xx

LolaBella · 22/03/2008 12:16

Lovely news Chocolategal

I'm wondering if anyone has any advice? I'm 8 weeks tomorrow and initially started off with period style cramps fom week 4 to week 7 but since last weekend - nothing in that department. I still have sore breasts and im tired, and i can't seem to eat much. Im just worried that something has gone wrong. My DH thinks im mad asking me why i want the pain back - but at least it was reassuring! I had an early scan at 6w+5 and saw a sac and heartbeat so i know everything was ok last week but this week i feel different. Are other people still experiencing symptoms on and off and has anybody else had period pain that has now subsided? Sorry for the rant its just my first pg and every change in symptom is a worry. Any advice appreciated.
Thanks.

Emmanj · 22/03/2008 12:18

thats great news choclategal, you must be relieved - it is so hard to wait!! Im nearly 7 weeks and that 12 week scan seems so far away!

Creena · 22/03/2008 13:15

Howdy all! Congratulations and welcome to all of our new members! It's lovely to have you with us. Look at the size of our list now - Wow!

I'm really pleased for everyone who's had an early scan so far too. It is good to feel reassured. I've also noticed that quite a few of us now have been told that we're not as far along as we thought. I don't think that's anything to worry about though - I know when I ovulated, how long my luteal phase is and even have a good idea of when implantation occured so I'm pretty sure of my EDD, despite EPU suggesting that it's a few days less than I think. Just goes to show that, at this stage, ultrasounds aren't an exact science!

Lolabella - don't worry that the cramps have eased off. They usually do or they become less frequent. I'm 8 weeks on Tuesday and my cramps have eased off now, as has the bleeding I'm pleased to say. However, morning sickness has kicked in now. Yeuch! I was lucky that DH was at home yesterday as I had a really bad bout while changing a dirty nappy and had to run to the bathroom to be sick! I've been leaving the nappies to DH today and he's been great about it.

Nbg · 22/03/2008 13:18

Another November 07 one here
Bizarre to see an 08 one!

Congrats to you all and hope you all have a happy healthy pregnancy.

lackaDAISYcal · 22/03/2008 13:24

Creena, glad the bleeding has stopped I was thinking about you yesterday; could you not have gone to the EPU?

My symptoms are pretty much the same; only mild queasiness and constipation (TMI sorry). I've been getting really worried about things and getting upset when people who are less far on than me seeing HBs at scans etc, whihc i know is irrational, but....

anyway, I'm going to lay low for a bit (but will probably lurk), and will hopefully be back to chat and get to know everyone when I feel more emotionally stable!

Have a good easter and i hope everyone is well

Yorky · 22/03/2008 15:36

I'm dreading the ms kicking in as DH will be working away for the next 4weeks, home at weekends. I didn't get any with DS but can't believe I could be that lucky twice! Think I'll be 5weeks on Sunday and so far its like last time - I've managed 2 naps today!
Have a happy Easter everyone
