Heartmum2Jamie · 25/02/2008 15:15

After a bit of cajoling from some friends (some of whom I hope can join me here soon), I decided to take the plunge and start this thread.

Anyway, I have just found out I am pregnant again, got a BFP on Saturday 23rd at 12dpo, which gives me an EDD of 3rd November 2008 (or the 4th, depending on which calculator I use). This is my 4th pregnancy and will be my 3rd child. I am super excited and a little scared & nervous after a previous missed miscarriage.

I hope I don't get too lonely waiting for more BFP's to roll in! Please come and join me.

But isn't sex supposed to be good towards the end - having same effect apparently as raspberry leaf tea, curries and pineapple juice.

We're not doing the deed because hubby won't come near me, lol! He's the scared one this time and I am ok to let him off as I can't say I really feel like it anyway.

Hello, I'm back after a spell with my parents during which I found it so hard not to blurb my news. Now about to go away to face 4 days with in-laws which will be even harder as I know they will be looking for any signs that I'm pg.

Welcome all new people & hope you are all feeling ok. I'm going up and down at the moment - one minute really happy, then the next really stressed for no real reason. I am wishing the next seven weeks away as fast as possible. I can't wait to be holding my scan picture.

OddEyes · 20/03/2008 20:03

hey everyone. gosh the thread has really grown. congratulations to all
am here to bow out and delete myself, although i will surely come see how everyone is doing now and again and hopefully with some good news later in the year.
we lost the baby over the weekend, was very sad but painless physically. Didn't go to hospital just let it all happen naturally, think it helped my grieving.
had a song in my head based on job 1 vs 21 ever since: "He gives and takes away; my heart will chose to say: 'blessed be the name of the lord'."
praying that you all enjoy happy pregnancies, easy (!?) births and healthy babies.
have enjoyed the banter and thank you so much for advice and support. will miss it

Oddeyes, so sorry to hear this

Be kind to yourself over the next few weeks and good luck for the future xx

Yorky · 20/03/2008 20:15

Odd eyes, I am so sorry for your loss. I know and love the song you mean. I'm sure I read somewhere that Matt and Beth Redman who wrote it have lost 7 babies/pregnancies? I'm sure they understand what you're going through. I hope you have happier news later in the year

Tinkerisdead · 20/03/2008 20:23

oh oddeyes, thats so sad. big hugs to you and your other half xx

dozymare · 20/03/2008 20:57

Oddeyes......I am so very sorry. It is not easy (having been in your situation) but it does get easier over time. I am thinking of you and I found a lot of support on here when I did that was very comforting indeed.

cricri · 20/03/2008 21:14

Oddeyes So sorry to hear your news. If you feel you need the support of some wonderful ladies have a look at the MC Avengers thread under conception. You don't need to be ttc - we just thought that was a good place for it at the time. It certainly helped me through some dark moments. (((Hugs))) to you.

divedaisy · 20/03/2008 23:36

Oh Oddeyes....So sorry to hear your news. God Bless your strength and courage in dealing with it in the way you have xx

I've had a hectic day and am away to bed. Go to my EPU in the morning, so I hope and pray I've some good news to share with you all.

Welcome the newbies!!

Renaissancewoman · 21/03/2008 08:46

oddeyes - I am so sorry. I guess you're probably on a new thread now. I started using MN last year when I had my mmc - it helped so much. The first few weeks/month were so hard, I was so emotional and hormonal and really in a mess and I grieved so much which I didnt really understand at the time. But it does get better. Give yourself time and take good care. I wish you lots of good fortune in the future.

Creena · 21/03/2008 08:55

Oddeyes - I'm so very sorry to hear your news. Please look after yourself. Hugs to both of you. x

Oblomov · 21/03/2008 10:02

Oddeyes, I am so sorry for your loss.
Take care, and come back and let us help you/support you, if and when you feel like it.

juanitad · 21/03/2008 11:17

Oddeyes, what sad news, I am really sorry. This is a horrible time for you, I hope you find the strength to deal with it and that you have some good news to celebrate later in the year.

Lackadaisycal, I noticed that you said you were in Leeds - me too. I was wondering what to expect from the NHS here? Do they do a scan at 12 and 20 weeks, as I've heard that some authorities only give you one scan. I'm planning on going to the doctors next week, probably Tuesday to say I'm pregnant, so what should I expect to happen after that? Any advice/info appreciated, as I am a compete novice.

Is anyone else finding it very difficult to keep their pg a secret? We have only told our parents so far and don't want to tell other people for quite a well yet, but I am finding it hard. I went on a work night out last night and had to face lots and lots of questions as to why I had driven and why I wasn't drinking. Personally I wish other people would mind their own business! I'm not much of a drinker anyway, and have had to face questions like this in the past, when I wasn't pg. I just wish people could accept that not everyone wants to drink all the time!! On one of the MN threads I'm on, some of the ladies were telling me the way they dealt with it was to have a glass of wine in their hands at all times, and pretend to drink - that might be the way to go in the future, to avoid the tricky questions!!

Hope everyone has a fabulous Easter weekend - this time of year is the time of new life, so let's hope our new little lives stay safe.

Heartmum2Jamie · 21/03/2008 12:21

Juanitad, I haven't told anyone in real life except dh and my best friend, these are the people who would support me should anything go wrong. Like you, I am not a big drinker, but thankfully don't go out much seeing as I already have 2 kids. By the time my 30th birthday comes around, it will be obvious that I am opregnant, so no explanation needed!

It's certainly not an easy choice of who to tell and when. The inlaws will be here later and I have forced myself into some skinnyish clothes (I'm not showing, but feel a little thicker around the middle). We really don't want the families to know until we know that everything is ok and then find a cute and inventive way to tell them.

lackaDAISYcal · 21/03/2008 13:29

hi juanitad

with DD I saw the doc at five weeks and she referred me to the CMW attached to our practice who clled me around seven or eight weeks to arrange for me to pick up my notes prior to my booking appointment. I had that at about 10 weeks, and my scan at nearly 14 weeks. Appointments are every month until 28 weeks, then every three weeks for a couple and then every fortnight. I also had a couple of appointments at the hospital as I opted for an elective section as I'd had an em-section with my DS. I went To St James' rather than LGI as I'd heard quite a few negative stories about LGI.

apparently the protocols have changed and my MW is doing an early appointmen to introduce herself and hand over your hand held notes and to fill out the paperwork for your scan, then you will have booking in and bloods etc at about 12 weeks.

the staff at jimmy's were fab when i was in, both the theatre staff and the PN ward staff. I opted for an amenity bed (you can get one if they are available on the day) and was in for four days. The MWs were great at helping me with getting BFing established (not a common thing on the PN wards I realise)

sorry for going on those of you not in Leeds

lackaDAISYcal · 21/03/2008 13:32

hi emmanj and runnervt. wasn't ignoring you, I just had forgot to refresh before I posted

ammanj, lots of odd niggly pains are perfectly normal, but if you feel it is getting very sore, it's worth a mention to the doc.

Emmanj · 21/03/2008 13:37

Hi, thanks lackaDAISYcal, i know im being prob being silly but yes will mention it at appointment on Weds.

dozymare · 21/03/2008 14:09

Welcome Newbies!!! COngrats on your PG......Anyone else feeling worried today? My SIL said to me yesterday "I have a feeling about this" and she has really spooked me out......What an insensitive thing to say (although she has just given birth I am sure her hormones are all over the place) but I thought it was very strange and now she has me worried.....
