Heartmum2Jamie · 25/02/2008 15:15

After a bit of cajoling from some friends (some of whom I hope can join me here soon), I decided to take the plunge and start this thread.

Anyway, I have just found out I am pregnant again, got a BFP on Saturday 23rd at 12dpo, which gives me an EDD of 3rd November 2008 (or the 4th, depending on which calculator I use). This is my 4th pregnancy and will be my 3rd child. I am super excited and a little scared & nervous after a previous missed miscarriage.

I hope I don't get too lonely waiting for more BFP's to roll in! Please come and join me.

Renissancewoman (is that spelt right??) those pains you described that your Dr called 'growing pains' sounds like SPD to me. I had this too when preg with #1. the pain is in your pubic bone, which of course is under your bump, and can make walking, driving, rolling over in bed agony. SPD is caused by the ligaments in your pubic bone relaxing and causing the two halves of your pelvis to start to seperate, which causes the pain. The pain gets worse when your bump gets bigger as there is more pressure and weight on it. you would need a referral to see a physiotherapist for proper diagnosis and if it is this, whe'll recommend you to wear a support belt, rest and if necessary take pain relief. If you're gonna be buying new knickers, you can get some with a built in support for your bump. I didn't try them, but will be getting them this time if symptoms start up again. Maybe not as sexy as thongs, but practical!!

My boobs are well pver flowing, and so so sore when i get up inthe morning and take my bra off at night. I too read that underwire bras are not recommended, but the non-wired ones don't hold up my huge boobs and I've now got a horrible sweat rash that's sore and itchy, so I really need to wear ordinary bras.

As for food, I'm back with MS again and a reall nasty taste in my mouth. So the symptoms are all still there for me (just on and off) which is a relief.

As for a rummy tummy - yes I'm there with you too! Not nice.

I hope you all had a nice St Patricks Day yesterday. SOrry I didn't get on here yesterday but was out having quality time with family. Even had a go on my DS's scooter which was a blast!!! Now I want one for my own!!

Well, need to go and get ready. HAve business phone calls to make - orders have to be finalised my this Thursday, so not much time, and DS and I have to go to the dentist!

Speak later. Have a good day. Roll on Friday! x

Its hard isnt it not to interpret every twinge as a bad thing but i think you tend to forget how many twinges you get normally (unless that's just me and my age showing up??)

smilesattheweekend · 18/03/2008 09:41

Hi Pinkali - I think we are about the same, I am 5 weeks nearly 6 and have a scan on 26th at the EPAU. I have mc'd 4 times before and am absolutely paranoid, have been feeling sick, then not, sore boobs then not - have been examining ecery twinge and pain. Have even been wearing sanitary pads each day as I am sure I am going to bleed (had lots of bleeding when I had my son - up to 16 weeks) so I am sure something is going to happen. It is like having a little devil on one side and an angel on the other, they both keep whispering things that make me either think, be strong or its going wrong! I had a scan last year at 7 weeks and saw a hb then lost it so in my mind although I will have a scan next week, I will stay cautious until I have further scans (I can have them each week, but will probably just go every two weeks) and will be "happy" when I get to 12 weeks which seems a bloody long way away.

Hang in there!

Pinkali37 · 18/03/2008 09:53

Hi Smile, Yeah we are pretty much the same. My boobs are feeling slightly tender now. Don't feel sick though. As this is #1 I just don't know how to feel esp after mc last year. I didn't get to this stage last time so this is a blessing. I just can not believe there is a baby inside me. I really can't, so I suppose I am just setting myself up for the bad news next week. No real reason to think anything has gone wrong. I am trying to stay positive but it really does take over your life, esp when you haven't a little one to run around after and concentrate on.

smilesattheweekend · 18/03/2008 10:01

You're right, it does take over your life and you can't remember what it was like to be "normal" I say to DH at the end of each day - "we have got through another day" and that is how I keep going, one day at a time.

I am at work full time and no one here knows I am pg again. I haven't even told my mum, was going to tell her at the weekend but then didn't see her because she wasn't well. Will be seeing her on Friday so might tell her then, she is fab, but I know she will say "it will be fine this time, I know it", she said that last time and it all went wrong! I just need someone to talk to who won't try and give me answers that aren't there at the moment if you know what i mean?

I would like to have a spot on my tummy - like on the teflon pans which tell you when the pan is hot enough to use, which glows so you know everything is ok!

Positive vibes.

X

Pinkali37 · 18/03/2008 10:10

I totally agree with you. It doesn't help people saying it will be alright because they are quite literally just saying it. If that makes sense? My DH said this morning that everything will be fine so I burst into tears because really how does he know that? He said he was trying to make me feel better and I just said it didn't. Oh... I feel hopeless but i do understand that other people like you are in the same position. You've had 4 mc so you must be beside yourself. Because you have had more than 3 have they investigated why? x

smilesattheweekend · 18/03/2008 10:25

Hi - glad to see someone else cries too!

Had all sorts of tests and they have come back negative which is good. I have been asked to go on a SPIN trial by the EPAU which is for people who have had recurrent MCs, you get scanned quite alot, but if you get selected for the drug trial part you take daily aspirin and inject yourself daily with heparin, the study is looking at recurrent miscarriers with no obvious reasons to see if thinning the blood helps as they think it could be to do with clotting of the blood, you have to be on it by 7 weeks, so if I go next wednesday and I get the drugs I will start taking it straight away, if you don't get the drugs you get scanned regularly which is what the EPAU do anyway for recurrent mcarriers. They are trying to compare if the drugs work against intensive monitoring. We will see how it works.

I am beside myself, but no more than when I had my first pregnancy - if you get what I mean - it took us years to get pg to start with and we had tests at the infertility clinic. I had two mc over 6 years then, just as we were to start IVF I got pg with DS,that pgy was hard as I was having scans each week because of the bleeding. Last year I got pg by accident but we were going to start trying anyway, but I mc'd and then again in October. The EPAU are great and I can ring them anytime for advice. I need to get next wednesday off work, but don't want to say why I need the day off, I think I am going to have to make up a little white lie - any suggestions?

Pinkali37 · 18/03/2008 10:53

Smiles - My sister is 14 weeks pregnant and has previously had 2 totally unrelated blood clots so she is on asprin and heprin (daily injections). Should be interesting to see if it works! The monitoring i am more sceptical of as what can they do by monitoring? Does that make sense? It confuses me.

Hi Chcocolategal - CONGRATS... oh yes welcome to the club. Add yourself to the list (use the last one).

Hi,
Can I join this already crowded thread too? I've been lurking for ages, but after having made a very brief appearance on the Due-in-October thread (chemical pregnancy, I guess?) I was being really cautious about putting myself on here. I'm now trying to actually accept the fact I really am pregnant, but it doesn't feel real! Except I did feel very 'icky' this morning ...

I'm due 7th of November by my calculations, and this will be No.3. I have a DS of 10 and a DS of 5, so can't remember a blooming thing about being pregnant!! Haven't seen the Doctor yet as DS2 has been off school so will have to try to get another appointment before the kids break up for the holidays. Not told anyone yet as I think people might be funny about the big age gap (especially my mum!)

smilesattheweekend · 18/03/2008 11:02

Hi Pinkali - will let you know what I get on 26th, are there any side effects for your sister? The monitoring is just scans and reassurance I think but will find out more.

Welcome chocolategal!

I haven't put my date on the thread yet - too anxious, will probably post it on after 26th!

Whoa! I haven't been around for a few days and now look at the size of our list! Welcome to all the newbies!

I have tried to catch up on everything but have a brain like a sieve and already can't remember more than the last 2 posts!

I hope that everyone is ok. I have not been around much as had a busy weekend and yesterday felt like crap with on/off nausea all day, some round ligament pain (makes getting in and out the car interesting) and then and odd pain up by my bellybutton. I thinkit may have just been trapped wind . This week I am going to have to chase the midwife as ideally, I would prefer to have my booking in appt next week as dh will be home to take the boys out of the way so the midwife & I can talk without having to do it in code as we haven't told the boys. I will be 8 weeks next week, so around the right time.

so how are you feeling???

twinklingfairy · 18/03/2008 16:10

Hello, all, I have put chocolategal in her place, so to speak

Was at toddlers today when someone told me they were pregnant, EDD 23 sept. I had a little voice in my head that squealed,'Me Too!!' but I managed to control it and say congratulations, that's fab news.
Was also at my mums and didn't tell her. V weird, I tell her everything. and the whole time I was there I had cramps too, so I really wanted to share but didn't. I would rather that I told all parents, at least, in the same weekend. Otherwise I feel I am being one sided.
DH and I have decided not to tell his parents until they come up, so that we can tell them face to face.
We agreed that I could tell anyone who asked, cos I am rubbish at lying. But, of course, no-one asked
Not even my friend who I told, on Thursday, that I was due on Friday.

I have not had an MC but one of my other friends did recently and revealed that both her sisters had too. So now it feels closer to home, that I would rather we kept hush for a bit.
Annoying that, after 8 months of trying, I can't shout it from the rooftops. I have been honest throughout the 8 months, that we were TTC, too. But now it seems best to keep shtoom.

Hi all, my mate ate the easter egg she bought me so i cant post it out now!sorry to all who were craving it! Ive stayed off here all day as ive been sending myself insane at symptom spotting. last week i was feeling so so sick, this week nothing and i keep convincing myself its because my hormone levels must be dropping. I come on here and everyone is talking about their symptoms coming and going and the boobs getting more or less sore and its such a relief to know that we're all feeling like this. I know I need to be patient and wait for my scan but its so hard. I got so tearful because i felt so energetic these last two days. i should feel elated that my pregnancy is so enjoyable at the moment but i cant help the niggly thoughts that something is wrong. my boobs still hurt and i press them constantly to check. It doesnt help that I have to wait so long before I can see the midwife as i feel so alone with my worries. having said that i think i would be too scared to voice them aloud as i sound ungrateful for such an easy pregnancy but i cant help the worry.

Purlease · 18/03/2008 17:34

twinklingfairy - I am completely in the same place as you. Not telling anyone, increasingly aware of people having miscarriages and prepared to tell if I'm asked - haven't been asked yet but meeting my sister at the weekend...

I am sure that your DH will be very happy with that prospect!
Do you think you might tell them or are you going to hold out until 12 weeks.
I know I will only be waiting until week 7 or so.
They will have to support me if MC so they might as well be pre-warned.
That's my logic anyway.
