After a bit of cajoling from some friends (some of whom I hope can join me here soon), I decided to take the plunge and start this thread.

Anyway, I have just found out I am pregnant again, got a BFP on Saturday 23rd at 12dpo, which gives me an EDD of 3rd November 2008 (or the 4th, depending on which calculator I use). This is my 4th pregnancy and will be my 3rd child. I am super excited and a little scared & nervous after a previous missed miscarriage.

I hope I don't get too lonely waiting for more BFP's to roll in! Please come and join me.

Pinkali37 · 17/03/2008 15:08

Hi EB, I am 5 days ahead of you and I haven't any sickness either. Have you had any pain?

Roca · 17/03/2008 15:46

Afternoon ladies, could someone pop over and watch my 2 please so I could have a snooze

Pinkali - Am sure it is 100% normal not to get loads of symptoms - I had nothing with my DD (DC no2) - just looked forward to seeing MW to hear heartbeat otherwise I would have belived it.

twinklingfairy · 17/03/2008 15:50

With DD I found out at 5 weeks told everyone about a day later (so couldn't keep it in) and by 6 weeks was getting VV sick. Felt like a constant hangover and travel sickness rolled into one. By 7 I was being sick constantly (by 12 I was hospitalised, but that is another story) So pink you have a few days yet, by my calcs.
I am going to enjoy my couple of weeks, I am just past 4 weeks, before I get hit by the dreaded MS.
DH and I are really hoping it passes me by this time, but I am preparing for the worst mentally. So in 2 weeks, I will just cancel the next 6

Purlease · 17/03/2008 15:55

I love the smell of fresh bedding - pregnant or not.

Pinkali37 · 17/03/2008 16:03

Twinkling - So it is normal just not to feel pregnant at all (other than Boobs). My stomach doesn't feel any different at all and I find it so strange to think that anything is happening.

As soon as I have my scan next week i am going to start to tell people. It's always good to have a support network around you. I just keep having panic attacks that there will be no heartbeat... God knows how I will be next week. It is great to hear that this is normal and esp after mc (i.e. the feeling nutty).

twinklingfairy · 17/03/2008 17:26

Oh yes pinkali even when I was a sick as can be, I wondered if it was really cos of a baby growing inside.
It wasn't until baby started to move that I thought, oh right so it is really real then!
Even the 12 week scan felt a little surreal to me. Then again, in hindsight, I guess I was just getting over the worst of the HG (Hyperemisis Gravidarum) so was still a little away with it. But was V proud that little bean waved at me

dozymare · 17/03/2008 17:35

Apart from the odd wave of nausea and my boobs growing a cup size by the end of the day I don't have any other signs of being PG...everyone is different hey?!!

juanitad · 17/03/2008 17:41

Very pleased to hear that so many of you are symptom-free at the moment, like me. I feel completely not pregnant today, maybe cos it's my first day at work since finding out (did the test on Friday night), and everything just seemed so normal. Plus, I was so busy that I didn't really have time to notice whether I had any symptoms or not! Judging by the experience of many others though, I'm guessing that things may well be different in a couple of weeks, so I'll try to enjoy this initial symptom-free phase!

I ordered a pregnancy book today - I can't remember who recommended it, but I got the Pregnancy Bible (I think that's what it's called anyway). I also got a cheesy "bloke's guide to pregnancy", that is probably rubbish, but I want to make sure DH is as included as possible, and that he doesn't think his part is finished now!!

Oblomov · 17/03/2008 18:59

I have a scan booked 31/3/08 - I'll be 7 weeks.
I feel like I have miscarried. Shooting pains. No bleeding, but I had none last time. I fought hard to get through to my ultra sound lady who was lovely. Then GP was not going to allow it, but I insisted.
I felt so pregnant on fri , when I found out from the test. All weekend it felt like I wasn't, hard boobs have gone to jelly and all these pains. Gp said it was not certain, but loss of symptons wasn't good.
Now it is just a waiting game for another 2 weeks.

dozymare · 17/03/2008 19:31

Oh Oblomov...I am sorry. MC does very funny things to us. I MC'ed and then was convinced with every subsequent PG (2 DC) that the same was going to happen. I even think I imagined some symptoms and got myself into a right state. The best thing to do if you can't wait until the 31.03 is go to your EPAU and insit on being scanned. They should be sympathetic as you have MC'ed before and you really are worrying which isn't good for you. I don't believe I am going to have a baby until it is in my arms.....(and then I worry about cot death) There is always something.

I am PG now with 3rd and my attitude is totally different - I know I can't do anything to stop a MC and whilst I have no symptoms apart from growing boobs throughout the day, you have to assume it is going to be fine......

Please try and get an appointment tomorrow...you need reassurance..

PS Pains are quite normal at this early stage - read back over this thread and you will see that lots of us have experienced this.

Huge Hug to you.....

lackaDAISYcal · 17/03/2008 19:45

oblomov, if it's any consolation I've had shooting pains on and off for over a week, but I also had this with DD and it's due to a flare up of sciatica. It's happened at exactly the same stage as last time too and the doctor said it was probably due to all the stretching and softening of the ligaments that is going on so the nerve gets compressed as things movwe around. I'm also aware that any stretching type pains have gotten worse with each subsequent pregnancy, and I'm now on PG No 6 so...ouch.

I would try not to worry about the symptoms going; as far as I'm aware syptoms come and go in the early weeks and different symptoms co-incide with different developmental/hormonal stages of the foetus. I think as well that if one has had a miscarriage before, it makes you even more aware of every little niggle and twinge that perhaps you wouldn't ordinarily notice. {{{{{hugs}}}}} and sticky vibes for you. xx

Renaissancewoman · 17/03/2008 19:51

Scully - How are you doing?

Oblomov - so sorry you are having such a hard time. I think pains are normal, someone on this thread said their midwife had said this.

I had the most amazing pains when pregnant with DD and DS. With 1st pregnancy/DD was at 18 weeks. They got more and more common until I couldn't walk and cried all the way home in agony as I tried to drive. The best the consultant could come up with was "growing pains" (my DH reckoned hemade this up so I wouldn't be embarrassed at no apparant medical cause). I had been super active and I think I was doing too much, particularly lifting. With 2nd pregnancy/DS, I had the same pain at about 6 weeks. I had to lie still in a bed in a glorious hotel in Siena for 12 hours until the pain when off. I took hot showers/baths to ease the pain and paracetomol. I had been lifting luggage on/off trains and I think my stretching tummy muscles got strained. As I rested it went off. I avoided lifting heavy weights as much as I could (not easy with a then 2 1/2 year old to look after) and I didn't get the pains again. My pains were shooting ones along the top of my pelvis sort of underneath where my the bottom of my bump was. Both pregnancies were absolutely fine apart from this.

I hope things get brighter for you soon.

Oblomov · 17/03/2008 20:08

Thank you everyone. I know there is nothing I can do, but wait. I was happy to wait until 7 weeks. I know there si more chance of seeing heartbest then. Last time they scanned at 6 & I still had to wait 2 weeks, until 8. to confirm mmc. With diabetes running riot that 2 weeks wait is even worse.
So I don't feel th eneed to be scanned immed, becasue I know that if I was they would still ask me to return for confirmation in another 2 weeks. Thanks for your support none -the-less.
We ae going o a funeral tomorrow, my mil dh has died (dh's stepfather).
Hope I don't yealp put in pain, just as the doors of flames open up

kegs82 · 17/03/2008 20:23

Hi to all the newbies.

Oblomov I'm sorry your finding things so hard just now. I think pains are normal as I had them with DD2 and have them again just now.

I saw Dr today who's given me contact details for mw to arrange booking in appointment. I've had moderate prolapse since 4 days post DD2 which seemed to get better last week bus has now returned. Asked Dr who didnt seem to worried and just told me to bring it up when I see mw.

Has anyone have any experience of pregnany with a prolapse?

Roca · 17/03/2008 20:47

Is there no fortune tellers out there who can say it will be fine so we can get on enjoy pregnancy and start worrying about the sleepless nights, money, being a crap mum etc!

Who had those Easter eggs earlier? Chuck one over here now please - I ate the kids milky bars last night and need a choc fix.

Roca · 17/03/2008 23:18

Hello - anyone about?

dozymare · 18/03/2008 07:48

morning all - kegs what is pregnancy with a prolapse?? I am probably being really silly as I know I know what it is but can't quite think....(if you see what I mean)

Im worrying this morning - whilst making a cuppa, I got an electric shock of the kettle....now I am worrying it has hurt the PEA.......what should I do???

Pinkali37 · 18/03/2008 08:15

Hi All,

OK so I went to bed at 10pm feeling absolutely knackered but woke up every half an hour believeing my pregnancy was over. I eventually got out of bed at 5.30am this morning in an absolute panic. All night I had been prodding my boobs and was convinced the pain had gone. Is this normal during the night (the tenderness subsiding)? I've been in floods of tears as I just can't wait until my scan 26/3 when i will be 7 weeks. Oh god i'm a mess... feel sick and it's not ms (wish it was).

quarkee · 18/03/2008 08:59

R-woman thank you - I had exactly the same pains yesterday and wondered if it was bevcasue I have been carrying an ill 2 year old DS around the past few days and i think you have confirmed it. Feel a bit better today so will have to watch it from now on.

Pinkali i hope you are feeling a bit better, maybe you are coming down with a bug? there's a lot going round, i spent most of last week on the sofa trying to look after DS while minimising all bodily movement - tricky. i always wake up feeling better and then tenderness increases over the day so see how it goes today...

Pinkali37 · 18/03/2008 09:12

Thank you quarkee... xx
