Heartmum2Jamie · 25/02/2008 15:15

After a bit of cajoling from some friends (some of whom I hope can join me here soon), I decided to take the plunge and start this thread.

Anyway, I have just found out I am pregnant again, got a BFP on Saturday 23rd at 12dpo, which gives me an EDD of 3rd November 2008 (or the 4th, depending on which calculator I use). This is my 4th pregnancy and will be my 3rd child. I am super excited and a little scared & nervous after a previous missed miscarriage.

I hope I don't get too lonely waiting for more BFP's to roll in! Please come and join me.

Happy Birthday divedaisy. It good to hear you came off citalopram with no symptoms. The Dr's told me to take them on alternate days so have withdrawal then side affects day about. Not sure the withdrawal actually withdrawal or just pregnancy. I'm on an off day today so might just not bother taking any from now on and see how it goes.

scully · 13/03/2008 04:00

Hi I'm back, with good news Spoke to the receptionist at 7.45am this morning and luckily my dr had come in early so called me back and my 1st test was all good, can't remember the name of what they tested but she said they look for over 30 and mine was 44, so they were happy with that. I had more blood taken today to check hcg levels have doubled in the past 48hrs.
Now just have to hang on until my scan on 25/3, when I should be about 8wks.
Sorry for my small panic yesterday, I know that legally they can't leave detailed messages on the phone, but I would have preferred she didn't call at all, I wasn't expecting any news until the 2nd blood test had been done, which is why I was so worried.
Great news your little person is ok Creena and hope your scans go well also Oddeyes and Divedaisy. Happy bday as well Dive, I'll be 38 in Sept, good to see other slightly older (!) mums on here
Can't remember who was asking about VBAC, but I had one with dd2 and can't recommend them enough. dd1 was breech and therefore a c/s, and I determined for dd2 to be in the right position so I could at least attempt a vaginal birth, and she co-operated
We were living in rural Surrey and I would have found it so difficult not being able to drive for 6wks, and also lifting a 3.5yr old etc, after a c/s, justed wanted to avoid all that. With the VBAC, I needed a few stitches, but my recovery was fine, I managed with gas and air only (dh souvenired the mouthpiece, it was so chewed ) & I found it an extremely painful but also amazing experience. (I had read that epidurals can sometimes slow down labour, and with a VBAC you can't labour indefinitely like a normal birth, so I didn't want to risk anything that might slow things down.)

Pinkali37 · 13/03/2008 07:57

Hi All,

Creena brilliant news !!!!!! You must be soooo happy.

Oddeyes - Fingers crossed, will be thinking about you. xx

Everyone else - Hee hee we're pregnant....

Heartmum2jamie, We're here for you if and when you need us. xxx

divedaisy · 13/03/2008 08:53

Who all have you told? I'm bursting to tell to date have told my DH and he was thrilled with the news. My FIL passed away about 3 weeks ago and this was totally unexpected - why is it that I feel like noone believes me when I tell them I was on the pill and got preg? I'd had a very emotional and stressful past few months with my FIL dying of lung cancer, and I was on & off the loo with iccy tummies all the time - poss due to anxiety etc. But DH told me is was 'fantastic news'. He wasn't gonna tell anyone until later, but I advised him to tell his brother who too thought it was great news after such a sh*tty 6 months. I told my mum the day after her birthday when I saw her face to face. her response??!! 'You're kidding me!!' Now why would I joke about something like that! She's over the moon. Then I told my brother and woke my sister up from sleep (after night duty - woops sorry!) to tell her. Everyone is so pleased. But I haven't told any friends - by that I mean face to face friends, not mumsnetting friends. So glad to have you to tell. I'm bursting to tell the world! When people speak to me and ask 'how are you' GOD !! I want to scream with joy at them and say 'I'M PREGNANT!!' but i just say 'I'm good! How are you?'!!

divedaisy · 13/03/2008 09:01

I haven't had a CS, but I did have an epidural with my Vag birth and I didn't go slow - OK I was also being induced, but it worked well for me. What I did b4 hand was to practice where the muscles where that I needed to push.... so every time I needed to do a poo I observed and remembered how I pushed - ok i know too much info, sorry!! But the bottom line (excuse the pun!!!LOL) was that when I couldn't feel anything after the epidural kicked in, I was able to recall and visualise the muscles required and the Doctor and M/wives were very impressed. DS was assisted with vacuum, but in my opinion, I'd do it all again that way.

One thing I'd advise you not to do... when in labour I took a real craving for a 'Polly Pineapple' ice lolly. Oh it was so yummy and cold. About 2 hours later when DS was on his way, the PP icelolly didn't taste too good when throwing it up! - Maybe the vomiting helped me push too!!! LOL

divedaisy · 13/03/2008 09:02

I'm hungry - away to EAT!

cricri · 13/03/2008 09:10

Creena Fantastic news and great to see a heartbeat and everything! Oooh, I can't wait to have my first scan (really hoping everything is OK this time...).
Divedaisy Happy belated birthday!
Scully Great news too!
Hope everybody else is OK this morning. DH and I are off for a long weekend so I won't be around for a few days. Look forward to catching up early next week and hope everybody has a good weekend.

Roca · 13/03/2008 09:48

Morning - ooh am tired today - I have always been a night owl (must go to bed earlier) and got home late from work so sit and watch my sky+'s soaps from like 11pm when I can chill a bit so didn;t get to be til 1.15 but I love 'my time'!. Wizzard of Oz has just been put on so we can all have a sing a dance whilst I tidy round and get ready for the day.

Roca · 13/03/2008 09:49

Run toto run!

Creena · 13/03/2008 10:00

Morning everyone! Thanks again for all your lovely thoughts and comments - you're a lovely bunch!

Happy Belated Birthday for yesterday, divedaisy! You've made me realise that I actually turn 40 the week before I'm due. baby could always decide to turn up a bit early (the last two did!) and arrive on my birthday, which would be fab.

Scully - so glad that your results were good. What a relief!

Oddeyes - thinking of you this morning. Hope all goes well and keeping everything I can physically cross well and truly crossed for you.

cricri - have a lovely weekend away. Long weekend sounds just lovely. Where are you off to?

heartmum - oooooh, come here! >gives heartmum a massive hug< I know what you mean about feeling emotional all of the time - I had planned to go to bed early last night but ended up watching Crimewatch (of all things ). It was all about that Leon Bellfield who was sentenced to life imprisonment a couple of weeks back - he used to attack women at bus stops and who were walking alone at night - and it was really, really upsetting. I found myself crying when one girl, who survived being hit down by him in a van, driven over and then reversed over, was interviewed. She'd had such an awful expereince but she was determined to make a full recovery and carry on living her life. It really got to me. DH switched over to a Stephen Fry interview, which I would have loved to watch as I think he's quite an interesting person, but I really was very knackered by that point and went to bed.

kegs - who are the withdrawal symptoms today? I really hope that you're feeling better and can see an improvement.

Right. I've got a shed-load of ironing to do and I'd better get cracking. Catch up with you all later!

dozymare · 13/03/2008 10:02

Hello Ladies!! Can I please join the gang Last AF was 4th Feb so EDD (according to Belgo, thank you!!) is the 10th Nov....very shocked to be PG as my consultant said very slim chance as i suffer from PCOS and UAT. Very happy though!!! Confirmed at Dr in the week but forgot to ask EDD as was to busy ensuring that DS1 and DS2 were behaving themselves!!!! Waiting now for a dating scan....

Congrats everyone!!!

browny · 13/03/2008 10:26

Hiya and welcome dozymare (love your name [grin[), Congratulations on your happy news, we've got the same EDD so far . How are you feeling?

Creena & Divedaisy, that's great news .

Divedaisy, hope you had a lovely birthday yesterday.

Creena, don't be about being turning 40 before your due date, I was 40 last year , does that make you feel any better? .

Hi to everyone else, it's getting hard to keep up now isn't it? .

I had a lot of crampy feelings last night, felt like stretching pains and my lovely sister-in-law to be bought some comfy jogging pants for me, I can't believe that my stomach has started to look pregnant already, but then again my stomach muscles disappeared long ago!

Heartmum2Jamie · 13/03/2008 10:56

Scully, wounderful news about your blood tests! Phew, I am glad it is good news after the waiting.

Divedaisy, Happy Belated Birthday for yesterday.

Oddeyes, thinking fo you today

I feel like a baby myself now hearing about your upcoming birthdays. I will be 30 in June. I doubt I am the baby of the bunch, but I feel like it now, lol! I am now almost wishing I was older so I would have more patience, been shouting at the boys today (in all fiarness, they chould not have been playing loudly outside my bedroom door this morning and waking me up!)

I am feeling better today, or shall I say my mood has swung completely in the other directions and I am feeling whiney, lol! I shall try my very best to keep my mood contained, poor dh & kids don't deserve to have it taken out on them.

OP posts:
dozymare · 13/03/2008 11:13

Thanks Browny! I'm already milking it..."0h darling, could you please get me a ginger tea, I AM carrying your 3rd child you know" what can he say?!!! How do I add myself to the list??!!

Roca · 13/03/2008 11:14

Ooh - get all us youthful mums - I am a mere pup at 35!

Tinkerisdead · 13/03/2008 11:42

Hi everyone, had my doctors appoint today where i was given EDD of 16th Nov. They did another test which i wasnt expecting and the line on theirs was so much stronger i kept picking it up to look. In the end the nurse asked if i wanted it! i took it too!
I also lifted my top to show her this weird rash i have all over my tummy and boobs just whilst i was there and she laughed saying i had "psoriasis blah blah blah of pregnancy". Nothing to worry about but classic sign that i was reacting to pregnancy hormones and asked if i had had it for 2/3 weeks! Yep! Ive googled psoriasis but i cant find a specific pregnancy version. anyone know what she was on about?

mum2ozzie · 13/03/2008 11:46

Morning - just back from the Drs who said he wasn't going to book me in with the midwife yet (thanks for the optimism) BUT did say that if I came back on 3rd April (when I'm 7 weeks) he will try and get me in for an early scan "if I'm worried" eeeerrr think I am in a state of permanent worryment at the moment. However, I can't wait until then as I'm desperate to hear a heart beat.

Now trying to get tune in on those postive vibes Roca.

Roca · 13/03/2008 11:55

oh if only we knew it would be alright on the night we could really enjoy the next 8 months.......

I can't wait to feel the little flutterings

kegs82 · 13/03/2008 12:24

Hi all and welcome to dozymare.

Hi Creena thanks for asking the withdrawal symptoms seem to have gone. So after hearing divedaisy came straight off citalopram with on symptoms really considering just stopping them now since feel ok from not taking last nights dose.

Drswife I suffer from psoriasis and found it cleared up during pregnancy with DD1 which was probably helped by holiday to Malta in early pregnancy. With DD2 it did initially clear up but came back with avengence after birth but think this was due to it being middle of winter and a lot of stress from bad neighbours more than anything else. I've never heard of hormonal rashes in pregnancy but never psoriasis when you dont usually have it. I might be wrong but if I stays for a while or bothers you I'd get 2nd opinion. If it is psoriasis best thing is to keep it well moisturised. HTH.

Bettispaghetti · 13/03/2008 13:24

Afternoon ladies

Feeling annoyed at the mo. Told my mum last week that I was pregnant and she sort of laughed and said 'oh no' as if perhaps it was a accident (I didn't tell her we were ttc). She called me last night and this morning and not once did she ask how I was. Shouldn't really be surprised as it was the same when I was expecting DS but I did have rather too many bottles of wine a few months ago and confronted her. I thought we had got it all sorted but obviously not. I feel like my pregnancy is a dirty secret.

Sorry for the moan but feeling like I want to scream!!!!

Thanks for being there to listen.

Congratulations and welcome, dozymare! Just copy and paste the most recent version of the list and slot yourself in (we're all listed in order of EDD). So lovely to hear your story - how fab it must have been for you to see that BFP!

browny - yay! We can help each other to avoid beige cardigans and fleece lined ankle boots (it doesn't matter how comfortable they are).

Roca - lol at Benny Hill tune . That's going to be playing in my head from now on whenever I am rushing about.

Kegs - that's good news. Am glad to hear that the symptoms seem to have gone. You've just got all those lovely pregnancy symptoms to look forward to now!

BettiSpaghetti - I know how you feel. My MIL is the same. She refused to acknowledge my last pregnancy and doesn't really have much to do with my youngest now that he's with us - she's a stranger to him. Whilst it's really sad, it's also her choice and she only has herself to blame. We give her ebery opportunity to get involved and come around and see him and get to know him but she just doesn't want to. There have been times when she has visited and I've asked her if she wants to hold him and she always says "no. He'll just cry". This always makes me angry because it's as if she's blaming a 10 month old baby for being wary of a complete stranger. She even once said "I won't hold him, he hates me" which made me see red because he's just a baby - he hasb't started to form opinions on whether he likes or dislikes people because people are either strangers or family to him at the moment. It's her loss anyway. She'll regret it eventually. How does your mum react after the birth, Betti? Does she thaw out a bit? Is she better then?

Heartmum2Jamie · 13/03/2008 13:46

Welcome Dozymare! I would love to be able to tell my hubby that I am currently growing his 3rd child when he asks me what I have been doing all day, but he doesn't want to talk about or get attached to the pregnancy yet, so I barely mention it which is sad when really I want to shout from the rooftops, lol!

Bettispaghetti, I bet I get a similar reactions from the MIL. I haven't told any of my family yet, so feel quiet similar in it being a dirty little secret.

OP posts:
Bettispaghetti · 13/03/2008 13:53

Thanks for that Creena and Heartmum2Jamie

My mum is all over the baby like a rash once they're born. She loves my other two but just doesn't seem to want to talk about my pregnancy. Last time I got so annoyed about it, I didn't involve her at all and only told her any news once she asked. I find it quite hard at this stage too as only DH and she knows and it'd be good to share the excitement with someone.

Something she said to me once was that my dad had absolutely refused to have any more than 2 children and she loves babies so much. Perhaps she's jealous as she never had the chance to have a much wanted #3.

Anyway, enough ranting. Feel better now just getting it off my chest.

thanks again girls for listening. x
