Heartmum2Jamie · 25/02/2008 15:15

After a bit of cajoling from some friends (some of whom I hope can join me here soon), I decided to take the plunge and start this thread.

Anyway, I have just found out I am pregnant again, got a BFP on Saturday 23rd at 12dpo, which gives me an EDD of 3rd November 2008 (or the 4th, depending on which calculator I use). This is my 4th pregnancy and will be my 3rd child. I am super excited and a little scared & nervous after a previous missed miscarriage.

I hope I don't get too lonely waiting for more BFP's to roll in! Please come and join me.

Hope all goes well xxx

Hi everyone

I'm new too. I think I'm 6 weeks pregnant with number 3. Was totally shocked to read a +ve test as I only had my coil removed 8 weeks ago plus I have had no symptoms at all. Guess I should count myself lucky that I'm not having to live with my head down the loo! Doesn't sound like much fun.

My edd is around 7th November.

Looking forward to keeping up with everyone and I'm sure I'll have lots of questions as I think I've forgotten more than I've remembered (dd is 5 and ds is almost 3).

Good luck and many congrats to everyone

OddEyes · 12/03/2008 18:51

just called out for pizza, fruit salad and posh lemonade. needing comfort food!

Heartmum2Jamie · 12/03/2008 19:12

LOL Bettispaghetti! You must feel like me then, I am 6w+2d pregnant with my 3rd and has 2 ds's aged almost 7 and almost 4! It does sort of feel like pbeing pregnant with my first all over again!

Oddeyes, enjoy your comfort food and good luck for tomorrow.

Hello everyone - I'm at work (do one day in the office and work late to get hours in, and 3 evenings from home)

By belly is very much involuntarily sticking itself right out at the moment - what's all that about at 4 weeks?!! (oh maybe the baby weight from the last 2 perhaps?!!)

mum2ozzie I had a mc on Xmas day so am also anxious about this although feel quite positive this time - already have symptoms of boobs and hazy hangover feeling.

Creena - WHAT'S HAPPNIN? Have I missed a post or have you not told us how your scan was?

Roca · 12/03/2008 19:55

Oddeyes - make sure you post asap after scan - all crossed for you

Roca · 12/03/2008 19:56

Hello - me again - hello to all new BFP's - make sure you go add your dates to the list so we can keep track of us all!

lackaDAISYcal · 12/03/2008 19:58

bettyspaghetti and heartmum, I was like that with DD as there is just over 5 years between DS and her. I bought some books and devoured them like I was a first timere again.

This time around though, it's all just a bit too fresh in my memory!!

lackaDAISYcal · 12/03/2008 19:59

creena, hoping that things are OK for you. x

Roca · 12/03/2008 19:59

alright, alright, just one more quick thing - have had 2 CS's - one due to Placenta previa and one after days of labout and baby back 3 back and not progressing after 6cms.

Am half tempted to push for natural. Please tell me

  1. Whether they wil let me
  2. Whether I am mad to try
  3. How painful natural is and to get over it!
  4. What if I ever wanted to go for #4 - by body would have had it from C sections?

bye for now.........

Anybody out there are have you all gone to bed already?!!

Roca · 12/03/2008 20:00

lackaDAISYcal - see you like to Kill a Mockingbird - I have a little girl called Scout!

lackaDAISYcal · 12/03/2008 20:13

Roca....I'm thinking about a VBA2C as well!!

first time, got to 9.5cms, but pushed too early and developed a knotty rim of tissue that I couldn't push past and had to go to theatre. Second one I was all set for a VBAC, but bottled it at the last minute and opted for an elective. I had such a long recovery from it that I'm anxious not to have that expereince again, especially as I'll have a toddler to look after as well.

I spoke to my GP last week and she said that as I'd fully dilated the first time, then there was no clinical reason to suggest another section.

Talk to yoour MW/GP about it. There are a few women on here who have had a VBA2C as well, so lots of advice if you start a new thread about it.

i love the name Scout, but I can tell you know DH will say NO. We are already disagreeing about names!

Roca · 12/03/2008 20:37

oooh - the names thing is so much fun/nightmare - I haven't even gone there yet.

I just need to get my head around why I would go for VBA2C and whether it's what I want - it hurts sooo much!

I haven't been to see my GP yet so will chat abut it then - although I have a feeling here that their inital reaction will be automatic c section. I would only go natural if baby was in right position etc as last one wasn't at all so I just knew it was gonna be complicated.

mum2ozzie · 12/03/2008 20:55

I can't believe you guys are thinking about the birth/names already!!

Have added myself to list (whilst keeping everything crossed). Creena & Odd Eyes RUOK? I'm thinking of you xxxx

I really have to get new bras as have put on weight (before pg) and none fit me! Should I just go straight for the 'I might as well not be wearing one' non-underwired or do you not need to worry about that until about 12+ wks (I wouldn't jinx it now anyway really)

Creena · 12/03/2008 21:03

Hello ladies. Thank you all so much for your lovely and kind comments. You've made me go all emotional now!

I'm glad to say that everything seems to be ok! Everything was in the right place and we saw the sac, yolk and a tiny heartbeat! The baby is measuring 3mm (tiny!) and while the satff said that it's too early to be able to work out dates accurately, they felt that I was a little under 6 weeks as opposed to the 6 weeks+ that I think I am. Still, I'm happy to stick with my FF date as it's as likely to be as accurate as it gets. DH and I are both relieved and he has been great - he came straight home from work and held my hand and comforted me when I blubbed at the sight of the heartbeat. I'm such a wuss!

Thanks again ladies for all your really kind words and your support. I really do appreciate it and I think that you're all brilliant!

Roca - can't advise on VBACs but I know that there are quite a few women on Mumsnet who have managed it and I'm sure they can pass on some excellent advice. Talk to your midwife about it too because if you've got a supportive midwife behind you, it makes a big difference.

Oddeyes - thinking of you. It's such a worry, isn't it? I hope you get a scan first thing tomorrow and that it reassures you. FWIW, the staff I saw at the hospital today told me that you can have a big bleed and still go on to have a healthy pregnancy. Make sure you get some rest tonight - enjoy the comfort food - we're all thinking of you and keeping everything crossed. [hugs]

Also, I love love love the name Scout! I read To Kill a Mocking Bird as a child and it's one of those books that stays with you. I think I'm going to re-read it now. I quite like Atticus too but I know that DH will veto that one before I even finish saying it.

BettiSpaghetti - congratulations and welcome! Ask as many questions as you like! Add your details to our not so little list as well, if you like.

I'm feeling quite knackered now and I can foresee another 9.30p bedtime for me. See you all again in the morning (fingers and everything crossed for you, Oddeyes).

LolaBella · 12/03/2008 21:09

Lovely news Creena
Iv got a early scan on Fri when, my by records, i should be 6w+5. Im so excited that you saw a tiny heartbeat. How special. I can't wait now, i hope everything is ok for me and my bean too.

Oddeyes, good luck for you tomorrow. Will be thinking about you.

Take care tonight x

Roca · 12/03/2008 21:10

Creena - yay!! So glad you posted as was starting to think but can now be .

Are you the first of us to have see your little pea/bean / tantrum throwing monkey?!

So chuffed for you, brilliant news.

I love the name Atticus (Atti) and was going to call my DS that but didn't seem to suit him (BTW that was before I had Scout - I wouldn't start naming all my family after the characters!)

Go for Atticus - I love it!

mum2ozzie · 12/03/2008 21:16

Creena - fantastic news!

Roca - I'm also feeling really positive this time round, I felt I knew I was going to get pregnant this month when I got my last AF (which is why I've been checking this thread!) Am I craazy or has anyone else had this sort of feeling?

snookie28 · 12/03/2008 21:23

I know its too early to make a decision but I think I'm also going to try for a VBAC. Had a cs last time as dd was breech and then transverse. Hated the recovery period with my horrid scar infection and I will have a toddler to look after this time too.

Its only just hitting me that I'm pregnant. It is a totally different scary feeling from last time. Last time it was more "a step into the unknown without a clue what our lives would be like". This time I have a good idea what things will be like and am already dreading the sleepless nights and the sheer commitment that a baby involves. Also dead excited about the cuddles and the smell of a tiny baby nestling in my arms

Roca · 12/03/2008 21:33

snookie - totally know where you are coming from dreading the sleepless nights. I remember before literally saying outloud at 4am 'I seriuosly cannot do another night of this' - I would have a bit of a breakdown but then somehow your body manages to pick itself up and and keep going.

Am soooo looking forward to cuddling a little baby again though. Not looking forward to having to follow them round a room at people houses as they start picking at eveything as just getting out of that with the others!

Heartmum2Jamie · 12/03/2008 22:46

Creena, I am so relieved and pleased for you! Phew, was getting worried.

I am having a totally emotional day, have cried at all sorts today. I was reading "your pregnancy week by week" and was reading the bit on genetic councilling and cried when it said that I should have councilling because I have had a child with a birth defect / congenital heart disease. I know that I don't need to see a genetisist, my chances of having another child with ds2 issues only increases to 3-5% from 1% anyway, I still have a 95-97% chance of having a perfectly healthy bean. Then I cried when an online friend announced her pregnancy (she lost a child to birth defects ), 've cried at adverts and things I'v heard on the radio. Now my head hurts, lol!

Hi. Just had Mum in for a while. Didnt tell her our news yet as withdrawal symptoms back and wanted to wait til I'm feeling a bit better as not sure how she'll react and couldnt cope with negative reaction just now.

Heartmum2Jamie I'm sorry to hear you feeling so low. I hope you start feeling a bit more upbeat soon.

Creena I'm glad you got good news. Hope your feeling bit more relaxed tonight.

Oddeyes I've got everything crossed for you. Hope you get good news tomorrow. Try get some rest tonight and let us know how you get on.

lackaDaisycal I'm in Grangemouth but not sure where nearest birth unit is. Was speaking to woman in Falkirk today who told me that she went to Stirling because it was only choice she was given but didnt like it. I'm not to worried at this though cos lots of people said same to me about RAH at Paisley but I liked it there. Will find out when I see Dr on Monday what choices are.

divedaisy · 12/03/2008 23:22

Good Evening/Night Ladies! Only just got to log in now - WOW this list is growing long!

IT IS MY 39th BIRTHDAY TODAY!! DH took me out for an Indian meal - lots of spicy tasty food - now I'm a big bit bloated!! Need to do a big fart! Also my 5 year old DS, who stays with his Nan Mon-Fri (until we get our house sold, his school is closer to my mums than here 30 miles away)phoned me up at 8am and sang 'Happy Birfday to you' God I cried!! It was sooo sweet. Then he said 'I love you Mummy' OHHHHH!!!

Creena, that is such good news! I'm sure you're relieved. I get a scan with my GP on Friday morning, and I can't wait to see it with my eyes.

I too came off Citralopram, but had been taking it for a few months. I stopped straight away - I didn't bother weaning myself off - and I was OK. I've been told that if necessary I could be started on something else if needed, but I don't want to risk it. However, when I had very bad PND with #1 I'd rather start on something in order to help me and to save DH's sanity!!

Poor you Heartmum2Jamie - consider yourself hugged! There There, don't cry!

My boobs feel huge today. I tried to get dressed up for going out to dinner, but didn't feel sexy - my push up bra was overflowing - not a good look!
