After a bit of cajoling from some friends (some of whom I hope can join me here soon), I decided to take the plunge and start this thread.

Anyway, I have just found out I am pregnant again, got a BFP on Saturday 23rd at 12dpo, which gives me an EDD of 3rd November 2008 (or the 4th, depending on which calculator I use). This is my 4th pregnancy and will be my 3rd child. I am super excited and a little scared & nervous after a previous missed miscarriage.

I hope I don't get too lonely waiting for more BFP's to roll in! Please come and join me.

lol brownie at your tummy feeling much looser already. I think your body remembers and just lets go that little bit quicker with subsequent pregnancies. Although this is only my 3rd baby it's my 5th pregnancy and it's all hanging loose already . I was only just starting to get my body back again after DD and I think I look like I'm about 6months pregnant already

I really don't want to put on any more weight than I have to with this one as I'm still 2 stone over my pre DD weight. I'm desperately trying to cut out all junk (not easy in the early weeks though)

kegs I stopped taking my sertraline when I thought i might be pregnant adnd I nearly passed out with dizziness on a few occaisions. It settled down after a week though.

hi to snooky and TheDoctorsWiife and welcome .

scully, I hope you have got your results now and it's good news

Tinkerisdead · 12/03/2008 10:50

Yeah been taking folic acid since October. Came off pill in Jan and cycle 2 bingo. I know how lucky I am for it to happen so quick. no i havent told anyone, my DH is adament and I dont want to go against him. thank god for this site. So if i make a doctors appointment what do they do? if i dont have a scan until 12 weeks what does the doc do? I have visions of him saying, nice work see ya in 12 weeks!

Purlease · 12/03/2008 10:51

Pinkali37 - fil stands for father in law.

This is becoming quite a long list. I don't feel pregnant at all but I didn't with DD1 either. in fact when I went for 12 week scan I was concerned that there would be nothing there and that it was all a big mistake.

There are 4 women in my workplace pregnant at the moment and the wives of 3 male colleagues are also expecting (company of about 90!). I am dying to tell them I've joined the club but plan on keeping it quiet from everyone until I have scan. I haven't even been to doctor yet.

That's why I am so happy to have all you to share news with.

browny · 12/03/2008 10:52

Hi lackaDAISYcal, I can't believe I feel so different already, no other symptoms like sore boobs and sickness yet, but even my dh said that I sat down on the sofa like a pregnant lady this morning!! What's that all about? lol

Creena · 12/03/2008 10:54

Heehee browny! You daftie! Please, feel free to make any amendments to the list you like. It's for all of us to use and belongs to us all - I've just been making sure that new members are on there because I didn't want anyone to be or feel left out. It would be brilliant if new-comers could just slot themselves in on the list at the appropriate point when they join us - if we all make sure that we use the latest version, it should be easy enough to keep on top of. We'll all be adding our individual scan dates soon, anyway!

I'm still waiting for my community midwife to ring me back. I rang last week to arrange a booking in appointment and she was on holiday. I was assured that she'd phone me back. I'm guessing that she's been really busy catching up on everything since her holiday. We're really under-resourced where midwives are concerned around here. When I had my second child, there was a team of 6 and now that team has been cut back to just 2 covering the exact same area and workload. It's really difficult to get hold of a midwife too - there's a phone number for them but they're only available on it for half an hour each weekday morning (9.00 - 9.30). I'd be interested to hear what coverage and resources are like in other areas.

DoctorsWife - it can vary depending on where you live but usually you just make an appointment with your GP to get the ball rolling. Your GP should give you contact details for your community midwife who you then speak to in order to arrange a 'booking in' appointment. I think that these appointments are usually done by the 8 week stage.

Creena · 12/03/2008 10:59

Hello there, Hanaflower! Congratulations and welcome! It's lovely to see you here - I hope we're joined by some more temping graduates before long!

How are you feeling? Any symptoms yet?

browny · 12/03/2008 11:01

Hi purlease, I can imagine you can't wait to join the gang at work, there's no way I could hide my bloated tummy until 12 weeks! You're more than welcome to get all excited here with all of us .

Creena, I have no idea what the resources are like here in Liverpool, do you know there is a programme on television tomorrow night, called 'Pramface' on channel 4 at 9pm, it's all about what goes on behind the scenes at the Liverpool Women's Hospital, it might be interesting.

Pinkali37 · 12/03/2008 11:15

Ooh Browny that sounds like a good programme.

I know our beans are very low down in our tummy almost near our pubic bone but my tummy seems to have a bulge that won't shift and I'm only 5 weeks.

scully · 12/03/2008 11:18

Sorry, probably confused some of you with my timings. I'm in Australia, and we are 9hrs ahead, so it's 9.08pm Wed night here now. I got home 3.5hrs ago to find the message on the phone and can't ring until tomorrow 8am at the earliest.
Browny my gp suggested bloods taken 48hrs apart to check my hcg levels were doubling like they should. I had a blighted ovum m/c last Aug, and only realised something was wrong at 12+1wks, so wanted to make sure everything was ok before I got that far along again.
Welcome to the new ladies, sorry I'm being pesimistic, not normally this paranoid
I've told 2 good friends, same 2 as last year, and although I'm very glad no-one knew, it was good to have their support and to share the good stuff with as well.

aha scully, didn't realise you were in OZ. I hope things are OK and you are trying not to let it get you down. I'm sure all is well and she was calling to make your booking appointment for you, but didn't want to leave a message in case it wasn't you that picked it up.

lackaDAISYcal · 12/03/2008 11:24

and scully, pleace come over and chat on the knicker checkers anonymous thread. Lots of support there.

Tinkerisdead · 12/03/2008 11:24

thank you for the advice, ive now booked in at the doctors tomorrow but its with a nurse not the GP. I assume thats just normal for my area. I keep thinking what if they dont believe me as its hard to believe myself other than a wee strip with two lines on, what proof do I have! thats the hardest part!

Pinkali37 · 12/03/2008 11:30

I have that exact feeling, that people think i'm making it up. I feel as though I should have all steroetypical symptoms and be sick and have a metalic taste but instead I haev a bit of a twinge evry now and again and the old boobd have gone into a D cup (at last) and hurt a little.

lackaDAISYcal · 12/03/2008 11:31

thedoctorswife, I saw my GP last week and took a sample with me, but she didn't even send it off for testing; just took my word for it and said she would refer me to the community MW.
Usually you see her around 8 weeks and then your dating scan at around 12 weeks. It is very strange this first trimester limbo, as nothing much happens, and it's the time that as a first timer you really need to know things. There are some good books out there (and some awful ones).

I read Lesley Regan's Your Pregnancy Week by Week last time, and What to Expect When You Are Expecting (a bit americanised, but OK). Avoid the Miriam Stoppard one at all costs, the photos and drawings are cringeworthy!

Pinkali37 · 12/03/2008 11:32

p.s. I had to get the idiots guide to pregnancy tests, the clearblue digital ones that says PREGNANT....

Pinkali, lol - I bought that test too .

OddEyes · 12/03/2008 11:39

morning folks! welcome to everyone who has joined since yesterday morning, so exciting to her about all the BFP.
I am still having spotting. really tempted to phone my mum as she was obs & gyn doc for some extra support. know it is normal but...
have decided ds had his last bf last night, sad as wanted to savour the last time, but since the spotting continues want to remove things i could blame if everything...you know.

Pinkali37 · 12/03/2008 11:40

There is so much stuff that we are supposed to know, how on earth did our grandparents cope? I suppose they just got on with it.

I have a the A to Z of Pregnancy.. although it doens't tell you too much for this stage. I als got from the White Company the Yummy Mummys cookbook. I loved buying that as I was with my husband in Leeds and it felt like our first purchase for PEA... I felt like carrying the bag around which said the Little White Company showed everyone I was pregnant although to be fair the writing was small and I was not looking pregnant at all, but it made me happy!!

I like that. My sister lives and works in London and has been signed off as she is getting sooooo stressed. I love the idea of sticking a big badge on your front and just pointing at it when people get too close. HA HA

mum2ozzie · 12/03/2008 11:46

Hello all,

I've just done a test and got the BFP and I think I'm due 20 November. I have to say I've been watching you since the beginning of the month hoping I'd be able to join! Last time I joined March '08 only to leave at 8 weeks after a miscarriage. The next 4 weeks are going to be hard but I'm really delighted to be pg again and have a good feeling about this time.

I've already got a son who is nearly 22 months so will be exactly 2 &1/2 in November.

Anyone else out there pg after mc??

Tinkerisdead · 12/03/2008 11:48

i think i'll be checking out books on amazon. I should be doing housework but i now claim pregnancy status as an excuse not to do crap chores. thats my excuse.
its weird to think that so much critical development is going on with the baby when you look so normal! A baby on board sticker would be great!
