After a bit of cajoling from some friends (some of whom I hope can join me here soon), I decided to take the plunge and start this thread.

Anyway, I have just found out I am pregnant again, got a BFP on Saturday 23rd at 12dpo, which gives me an EDD of 3rd November 2008 (or the 4th, depending on which calculator I use). This is my 4th pregnancy and will be my 3rd child. I am super excited and a little scared & nervous after a previous missed miscarriage.

I hope I don't get too lonely waiting for more BFP's to roll in! Please come and join me.

Thanks for the welcome Roca

Am interested in people's views about spreading the news? When are people going to announce the pregnancy?

First time round we didn't tell anyone except our parents until after 12 week scan. This time I feel like being a bit more open and telling siblings and my close group of "mummy" friends. 4 weeks does seem v early though.

I am dying to tell my parents but thought we'd save it until sunday as it is mum's birthday.

Howdy snookie and congratulations! Just sticking you on the list - feel free to add/amend/delete info as you wish!

Divedaisy - its worth asking the sonographer about the nuchal test when you have your scan done. In my first pregnancy it was not done at my hospital (just a question of policy) but when I asked if they could do it they did after a little pushing! They changed the policy at the same hospital a few years later so by the time I was pregnant again it was standard practice to do it. Femur length is also used at some hospitals as another complimentary screen for downs.

Roca · 11/03/2008 21:50

Coldn't resist - have just text good friend about the pregnancy. I think once I have told a few key people I will then be able to hold it in! Not told family yet though - would rather tell mum once am a bit more in to the 'safe' zone.

Thanks goodness you are here for me to yell - I'M PREGNANT - am so excited already - I have no idea how I will cope either financially or with space (we will have three in a room), plus my two are a proper handful but when I look at them I just think how could I not want more!

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is a good chance this will tip me over into being medically crazy though!

Heartmum2Jamie · 11/03/2008 22:00

However mentioned the bloating, I am starting to feel a little bloated in the evenings, pretty much straight after tea, lol! Not quiet enough to really need to undo buttons, but it is much more comfy that way!

We have made the decision to not tell anyone in real life until we see "piggle" (aka Iggle Piggle!) on a scan and kow that all is going well. I have told friends I know on the internet though, pmsl! It's nice to be able to tell someone!

Today has been a strange day. As I mentioned before, I have had a pevious miscarriage (I think I will pop over to the knicker checkers thread!) and today was the EDD for that baby as well as the same timeframe, ie, 6w+1d of when we saw ds2's heartbeat on a scan, so a bit of a strange feeling deep down today. I totally took out my mixed emotions on poor dh when he got home from work

browny · 11/03/2008 22:14

Hi tammycc - congratulations and welcome , how many weeks are you now?

Roca, hi, the bloated feeling doesn't feel like I've eaten too much, my stomach just feels really big and it's a different shape already... but, of course, this will be my 5th baby , still I didn't expect my jeans to be tight at just 5 weeks!.

Snookies, hiya and welcome too . We couldn't wait to tell our family and told a few close people practically straight away, we told our children the next day. It will be a lovely birthday present for your mum .

browny · 11/03/2008 22:18

HeartmumtoJamie, hi and congratulations on your bfp , sorry to hear about your m/c, today must have been very hard for you, I hope your dh gave you a huge hug today x.

kegs82 · 11/03/2008 23:43

Hi all. I've luckily never hand tender breasts in any of my pregnancies. I have been feeling sick and dizzy all day but not sure if it due to pregnancy or withdrawal from citalopram. Only been taking it for 2 weeks but Dr thinks should start weaning off it as not sure of what harm it may cause. Think from threads on feeling depressed it reasonably safe to take in pregnancy but will see how coming off it goes as not sure really needed it in first place.

Pinkali37 · 12/03/2008 08:50

I agree, diet seems to much easier when pregnant. I have also given up caffeine and alcohol (which any other time would be hell). Would like to lose my love handles before baby goes out in front so at least it will look neat but the way things are going NO SUCH LUCK...

My boobs are slightly tender and go on and off. Feel heavier than normal.

browny · 12/03/2008 09:08

Pinkali37, I've been right off alcohol for a couple of months, it's just as if my body new I was going to be pregnant... how weird is that?.

Kegs, hope the withdrawal symptoms ease off soon .

I've had little twinges all night in my sides when I turn over, they feel like cramps a bit, anyone else had these too? I remember I had them with my last pregnancy.

Pinkali37 · 12/03/2008 09:51

Ooh body intuition... spooky.. It is strange how you don;t mind giving it up when you have a job to do. Otherwise my DH and I say on a Sunday evening that we will give up alcohol through the week by Tuesday night we crack open the wine to celebrate the Monday night off it!! But so far whilst being pregnant I have been to my dads 60th and I drove and also my DH birthday and didn't drink so am finding it easy.

I get twinges sometimes in my ovaries and othertimes it feels like my period is about to start but thank the lord it doesn't..

Tinkerisdead · 12/03/2008 10:01

Please can i join your gang? I just got BFP and worked out I'm 5 weeks and should be due around 14th Nov. DH doesnt want to tell anyone yet and its killing me!

I want to tell the world im so excited. I'm also dying to tell my mum, i feel really sick with mega sore boobs and I guess when you feel so rubbish about something so special only your mum will do!

But yahoooooooooo!

browny · 12/03/2008 10:10

Hi Pinkali37, we used to be like that too, we'd have a night without opening a bottle of wine then reward ourselves the next night!. My dh said that when his little 'supply' has been drunk in the fridge, he'll make an effort to drink less (hope he gets to like camomile tea.

Hi and welcome and congratulations too TheDoctorsWife46, I think I'm 5 weeks too, due around 10th November. You sound so excited, I couldn't wait to tell my family too and keeping my secret only lasted half a day!

Tinkerisdead · 12/03/2008 10:15

Im not gonna last at all not telling people. I am really excited and its so hard not to call people and blurt it all out. My DH wants to wait for it to sink in he says but I just wanna be able to call our mums as I know they will be as excited as me.

If im this excited now, will it subside when the realisation hits me that a human is gonna come tearing out of my fanjo?

scully · 12/03/2008 10:17

I'm not stressed about downs or anything similar, just about having a viable pregnancy to begin with. Am very stressed right now, as I get home from work and collecting dd's to find a message on the home phone from the nurse at the doctor's surgery. All she said on the message was could I ring her about the blood tests I had done yesterday No other news, good or bad. They shut at 5pm so I now have no way of finding out why she was ringing until tomorrow morning. I've done a Clearblue test and it came up positive straight away but I know that doesn't always mean you haven't already had a m/c. She is going to get such an earful when I ring tomorrow, as my dh said, would you do that to a cancer patient, or anyone waiting on test results? Cannot believed how stressed I am and upset

Pinkali37 · 12/03/2008 10:32

Hi Browny and Doctorswife.. I am 5 weeks today and my boobs are intermittently sore and tender. No other symptoms. Other than I am hungrey 24/7 but concerned about going sidewards rather than outwards. I have told my mum and sister and best friend and am not sure when I should tell others. Some people say 12 weeks but I read you can have a miscarriage any time up to 24 weeks so hey why don;t we enjoy the news and tell all our friends and family. My sister told my mum about her at 5 weeks. I've been waiting for my 6 week scan so I knew all was well but the appt has not come through yet.

Scully - that is cruel !!! I am sorry, but hopefully it will be good news, fingers crossed xx

browny · 12/03/2008 10:33

Morning Scully, no wonder your so , to leave a message like that is so inconsiderate , hope you have managed to get some sleep last night. What did you have the blood test for the other day, were you worried about m/c? I've got my fingers crossed for you x.

TheDoctorsWife46, is this your first baby? This will be my 5th and I'm so excited too!

Creena · 12/03/2008 10:35

Congratulations and welcome, TheDoctorsWife! I've added you to the list and have assumed that this is your first but please amend the list if I'm wrong.

I'm another 'jeans loosening' lady - by the time it gets to about 8 or 9 pm, I've just got to undo that top button. I'm still feeling mega knackered all of the time too; was tucked up in bed and fast asleep by 9.45 last night. DH was not impressed. I'e also been off the drink and it hasn't been hard at all. I think I last had a drink on 2nd February (about a week before I ovulated) at a good friend's wedding and I have to admit it was more like a large number of drinks. Nothing since then, though.

Scully - I'm not surprised that you're upset. They really shouldn't leave you in anxious suspense like that. Was it last night after 5pm that you oicked up the message but they'd already closed? Would you be able to ring them back today before 5pm? Or can anyone else at he doctor's surgery speak to you about the results? You really shouldn't be kept waiting like this - it's far too stressful.

HeartMum2Jamie - sorry to hear that this is a difficult time for you. I can't advise from experience but if it helps to come and hear and talk about stuff, then please do. {hugs}

browny · 12/03/2008 10:36

Pinkali, I'm with you, it's wonderful, happy news so why not spread the happinness straight away? My fil sadly passed away only last month, so to have this lovely news so soon after the sadness of last month was just what we needed .

Tinkerisdead · 12/03/2008 10:39

yes this is my first. you can tell from my mad grinning and deranged excitment cant you. So heres a question, do i have to book myself in at the doctors straight away then? I have no idea what im doing!

Pinkali37 · 12/03/2008 10:40

Browny - I am so sorry for your loss, may I ask who fil was?

The other thing is, that if you tell those closest to you and anything does go wrong (which we all pray nothing will) you will have people who can support you as keeping everything closed up inside you is not good. I did that last oct when i had a m/c and because we hadn't told anyone, people just didn;'t knwo why i didn't look happy or I didn't want to go out etc.. Let's enjoy !!

browny · 12/03/2008 10:40

Hi Creena, I've a confession to make, I was merseymum , so I'll just delete that name. I changed my name to that when I hadn't told anyone on here.

My stomach looks really big this morning, I'm dreading getting trussed up in my jeans, I went looking for some comfy trousers yesterday but couldn't find anything.

Pinkali37 · 12/03/2008 10:42

I went to the Doc at 4 weeks 1 day due to m/c last OCt and I was experiencing cramps (nothing like last time). He said he would request that I have a 6 week scan so apart from that i am not sure what the procedure is. Nevertheless I ahev still not received my scan date and I am becoming impatient.

Hi Pinkali, fil was my father-in-law, I thought the world of him, he had the exact same personality as my husband, looked exactly like him too. My fil's brother came the other night to visit and my ds2 who's 3 and half, said, "Hiya grandad", because he looks just like fil. Sorry to hear about your m/c last October, I hope you are taking good care of yourself .

TheDoctorsWife46, haven't you told anyone yet? I think you just might burst if you don't tell your mum . I haven't bothered going to my doctors yet, I will make an appointment for this week though, have you been taking your folic acid tabs?
