Heartmum2Jamie · 25/02/2008 15:15

After a bit of cajoling from some friends (some of whom I hope can join me here soon), I decided to take the plunge and start this thread.

Anyway, I have just found out I am pregnant again, got a BFP on Saturday 23rd at 12dpo, which gives me an EDD of 3rd November 2008 (or the 4th, depending on which calculator I use). This is my 4th pregnancy and will be my 3rd child. I am super excited and a little scared & nervous after a previous missed miscarriage.

I hope I don't get too lonely waiting for more BFP's to roll in! Please come and join me.

ha ha - how funny! I have no idea about deleting posts - soz. Congrats Kegs. You are having them close I am quite similar - have DS 3.5 and DD 2yrs so will have 3 little ones!

We are all going to be squished in our little house but I can't wait!

kegs82 · 11/03/2008 00:05

I cant wait either. Been testing since Fri as that when AF was due but all BFN until today. Think DH thought I was going mad. I've been bursting to tell someone since BFP this afternoon so this thread is a god send. DH who kept telling me not to get hopes up has already told his BF but other than that hoping to keep it under raps for at least another month.

kegs82 · 11/03/2008 00:43

I've reported all my duplicates so hopefully they should be removed soon. I'm sorry for messing up thread. Promise to not do it again.

Roca · 11/03/2008 00:44

I have told one friend - have no idea how people keep it quiet til 12 wks - that seems an age away - I reckon I'll manage about 4 days! Actuall, I think if I allow myself 4 key people than the rest of the world can wait.

kegs82 · 11/03/2008 01:24

1st time round I was so excited that I told everyone straight away including my colleagues which resulted in quite a few nasty remarks from them about breaking the news so early. When I found out expecting DD2 told MIL and SIL straight away as a distraction to an argument they were having then my family and close friends within the week and my direct boss a week after that. The rest of my colleagues didnt find out until day after my 12 week scan. Most of my colleagues have moved to another department and I'm off long term so dont have that problem this time. Not sure how will tell my Mum though. She has huge chip on her shoulder about being middle child and has been insistent since DD2 born that should never have a 3rd child.

scully · 11/03/2008 03:58

Welcome Kegs, you know how to make an entrance
I also have 2 dd's, (5yrs and 2yrs), are you ready for the inevitable 'boy' questions?
Had a gp appt today, which went very well. They did bloods and will take more on Thurs, to check that my hcg levels have doubled like they should have. I am also having a scan next Tues (will be 7wks) to check everything is ok, and have booked in for a nuchal fold scan on 23/4. I have never had everything checked so much before, but after the m/c at 12wks last Aug, the dr understood my paranoia and was very happy to check everything. If everything is good at the scan next week, I might see if I can have another one or at least some more bloods done between 7wks and 12wks, or that will be a long 5wk wait.

HEe hee Kegs82... Conrgats !!

And congrats to all new BFP's...

My boobs are very slightly tender but nothing so severe as yet but am 4 week and 6 days today. So probably eary days. I also got bad pain but has eased now with the occasional twinge that I as mentioned by someone else go running to the toilet to check all is well !! Also got a lot of pain in ovaries but doc told me that was the hormones or something, anyone else had pain there??

I was just saying this morning to my DH that I want to feel sick so I feel pregnant as at the moment I still can't believe it is true and that I have my very own PEA growing inside me. Every night DH and i stroke the bottom of my tummy and say "PEAS STAY" (meant to be a mixture of PEA and PLEASE)... The things we do !!

Does anyone think it is true that if your boobs are slightly smaller to start with they will become tender more easily as they grow???????? Does that makes sense?

OddEyes · 11/03/2008 10:03

welcome new BFPs.
had the smallest spot of blood this morning and has really shaken me. dh sent me back to bed and had 2 extra hours kip, nothing since. am so worried but know i needn't be.
yes Pinkali37 i have pain there too but seems to have eased the last few days.

Creena · 11/03/2008 10:42

lackaDAISYcal - really glad that EPU was able to put your mind at rest. That's really good news.

Am so of all you ladies having early scans! I would so love to be able to have one - it would really put my mind at rest and reassure me. Don't forget to add your scan dates to the list too, so we can all wish you luck (if you want to, that is)!

pinkali - ooooh, that's so sweet! I love "PEAS STAY"!

oddeyes - glad that the spotting has stopped. If it helps, I had spotting in my last two pregnancies (and pretty much throughout the last one). I know it's easier said than done but try not to worry and put your feet up and rest if you can.

Roca · 11/03/2008 13:00

Hello all, cleaning teeth made me heave today (the only times I was sick before was after cleaning teeth) and have already got that 'hang over' feeling - just a bit nauseous. Sure I didn't get anything this early before - but then, I only found out at about 6 - 7 wks last 2 times whereas am only 4 now.

Oh peas stay this time.........

Oddeyes - I had spotting with DD at about 6 wks but all was fine.

SoExcited · 11/03/2008 13:01

On the vitamins front you can get fish oil supplements that are designed for pregnancy. Pregnancare do a double pack with the normal multivitamin, plus fish oils. These don't have any vitamin A in them.

I'm taking the fish oil capsules for the first 12 weeks on every day when I don't eat fish. Apparently they are supposed to aid brain development. They are pretty tricky to swallow though (worse than the vitamins) and taste gross if you don't swallow them properly!!

Roca · 11/03/2008 13:01

not sure when I'll have a scan - we only get one at 20 weeks where I am so if I want one before that I guess I'll have to pay. When I go to DR I may see if they give me one coz of recent m/c.

Roca · 11/03/2008 13:03

SoExcited - you have just shoved me into gear - I hadn't even thought about taking anything yet! I best go get some folic whatever it is you're s'posed to take - I am rubbish with tablets!

Pinkali37 · 11/03/2008 13:11

PEAS STAY... to all our little beans and peas.. (most people call theirs a bean so I thought i'd be different and have a PEA.. )

YIKES fish oil (although needed), you can get Eggs now that are enriched with Omega3 so that is an alternative.

After getting all confused yesterday about Vitamin tablets I started today my proper pregnancy ones with folic acid, so a week late but i'm sure it will be fine. Had been taking normal ones OOPS...

Love to All today xxxx

Heartmum2Jamie · 11/03/2008 13:25

I have to admit that I am not taking anythng except folic acid. I didn't with my other pregnancies either. I think so long as you try and eat a fairly balanced diet, there really isn't much need for vitamins.

As for morning sickness, my stomach & I were having a battle of wills this morning about breakfast. I wanted it because I was hungry, my stomach wasn't so sure it was a good idea. Thank goodness I won! I think I actually felt so sick because I was over hungry. Time to start leaving myself something to nibble on before getting out of bed.

I hope everyone else is doing well today.

this thread just grows and grows. Welcome to Kegs and tammycc.

I've just been out for a huge lunch and am now feeling a little bit nauseous. Having intense cravings for really spicy foods (I was the same with DD) so had a nice lamb curry. On Saturday I was eating jalapeno peppers out of the jar

scully, if you are feeling anxious about this pg after your MC, come and say hello on the Knicker Checker Thread for women pregnant after a MC. Lots of empathy and similar worries.

Pinkali37 Is PEA an acronym for something? It's not on the list so I'm a bit lost, although I love the name...PEAS stay - precious!

kegs82 loved your entrance! Welcome and congrats to you and all the new BFPs! We're getting a good gang here!

scully if you're really concerned there is a Triple Test, or Bart Test I think it's also called that is done at 16 weeks (from memory - I'll check the accuracy of that out). It tests your blood's hormone levels at a certain time during your pregnancy in order to determine the chance of eg Downs. It's non-invasive so there's no risk of M/C. Obviously if the levels indicate a problem you can think about an amnio test. I had it done with preg #1 and will be getting it again as the nucal fold test isn't available in the Hospital I'm booked into. Though it is available in our regional maternity unit - wonder if i can have it there?? mmmm?

I'm still taking folic acid only and have a few left in the bottle, so when they're done I think I'll try out the horse sized tablets! Someone earlier said that a multi-vit can help reduce the chance of PND developing, and because I had a horrendous time with it for over 2 years, I'm prepared to try anything!!!

Pinkali37 · 11/03/2008 15:44

Hi Divedaisy.. PEA is just my little name for my baby to hopefully be. Everyone including my sister calls there's a bean so i thought I would be different. lol

Do you have a name for yours?

divedaisy · 11/03/2008 17:33

'Bump'! Have you started to talk to Pea yet? I have! And I'm holding my belly even though there's no bump there yet - apart from the spare tyre! I've gone all mummsy again! I've even started to slow down when driving, and started to eat all healthy stuff. If it's easy to do it when you find out you're preg, why is it that healthy lifestyle changes are so difficult to adopt when you're not preg? Anyone know!

At the minute I really do not like the taste of chocolate!! How can that be!! It's an unfair tragedy!

browny · 11/03/2008 19:25

Hi, hope everyone feels o.k., divedaisy - I know what you mean about wanting to make an effort to eat more healthily, yesterday (after picking up the free Asda magazine) I made lentil and potato soup for the first time ever and you know what... it was delicious!.

Is anyone else feeling bloated, I keep wanting to undo the button on my jeans..

snookie28 · 11/03/2008 19:33

Hi

Can't believe there are so many people already. Looks like I'll be joining you as I just got my bfp today. Was driving me mad as my period was 4 days late and I tested every day and only go bfns.

Already have a dd who is 17m and my due date is 14th Nov.

Have no real symptoms except tender breasts. Managed however to have no morning sickness last time round so am hopeful this will be the same.

Looking forward to getting to know you all over the coming months.

tammycc · 11/03/2008 19:46

browny - I know what you mean by the bloated feeling - my stomach feels massive and breasts are a whole world of pain today! Nice...not. No sickness or cravings though, but choosing lots of healthy eating options -had chickpea salad for lunch, which come to think of it may partially explain the bloated feeling...

Roca · 11/03/2008 20:06

I feel really bloated - especially as the last few days I haven't had anywhere near as many bad snacks as normal.

I haven't had that - oh my stomach feels a bit flatter today feeling which I know makes sense, but at only 4 weeks?!!

Roca · 11/03/2008 20:07
