Kitty - it's fine to have a moan - That's what we're here for! Poor you.

MissChika · 15/02/2008 09:36

Morning All,

Hope everyone had a lovely Valentine's evening.

SweetKitty - what are the symptoms of SPD (I know there was some discussion on the old thread about this but couldn't find it). For the past day I've had an ache in my pubic area just under the bone and after running to meet my sister I was in agony. Could this be the same thing? I have had a look at babycentre.co.uk which does go into a lot of detail but just wanted to check with someone who actually knows!

M x

MrsHOP · 15/02/2008 10:33

hi guys

hope all well this morning - Chika & Kitty, sorry to hear about your aches and pains xxxx

had MW appointment yesterday and heard heatbeat - very reassuring.

Also I have been given a gem of advice from my mum - I was really badly constipated and she suggested dried apricots (no more than 5 a day) - and it has totally sorted me out! I feel like shouting it from the rooftops!! sorry if TMI this early in the morning....

NikNak we are planning to go to a real nappy thing in Nunhead if that isn't too far for you to get to? I am just on the edge of Lewisham so have been assigned to Lewisham hospital - but it was nearly Farnborough which is miles away!

pigleychez · 15/02/2008 10:50

Hi everyone.

Hope everyone enjoyed Valentines day. We had a yummy chinese take away.
Even treated DH to a valentines evening treat- first time in months! Poor thing!

Ive taken today off work as i feel really tired today as i didnt get alot of sleep last night.
After the actions of last night i got up to go to the toilet and suddenly had uncontrollable shivers. My whole body just couldnt stop shaking. I was cold but not that cold Iykwim. I was crying as I couldnt stop and it was scary.
DH was getting worried too. I jumped back into bed still shaking. DH wrapped me up in the duvet with a blanket over the top and my dressing gown and eventually after a few minutes the shivering stopped but it was pretty scary.

I too am like Sweetkitty now and waiting to feel some movement. Just so i can put my mind at rest that last nights shivers havent done any harm to bubba.

Sorry for the long post.

TJuice · 15/02/2008 11:18

Hey ladies

sorry to hear you had the shakes, pigley. the whole body temp is strange isn't it?

i went to see Hallam Foe for valentines, then for a meal. It was quite good actually. Also got a lovely necklace from Tatty Devine and tulips from my bloke, so decide to put on my lovely Ann Summer heart-shaped nipple tassles later on.
Bad idea - couldn't get them off - double-sided tit tape and sensitive pregnant nipples SO does not go together - i was almost in tears . . .

RUMPEL · 15/02/2008 12:10

Tee hee TJUICE - you are quite quite mad!!!

My DD nipped my nip really hard the other night and I was screaming with pain! She has this thing when she is tired that she needs to run material through her fingers - usually whatever I am wearing. Of course, when you scream and she realises she has inflicted pain she is desperate to do it again .

She looks like a battered baby just now - fell and hit her face off the wee table - graze at her eye and slightly black eye - then this morning whacked her cheek off of my bed leg - red cheek now too! Poor wee soul.

Am feeling alright again today. I have started taking my acubands off at night and I think it is allwoing me to sleep a bit better - lack of sleep = worse sickness.

I am going for a craniosacral therapy next week good for me and for baby

Hope all you ladies are well - nice new girly name SUSAN.

TWINKLE - how is the sickness now?

beepbeep · 15/02/2008 12:20

Hi all,

Had my 20week scan yersterday, have a low lying placenta which puts all stops to my birthing centre plans for the mo, but more worryingly the baby's head circumferance (?!) and femur length thouygh showing as growing at the same rate were pretty small - under the 25th percentile. The stomach's right on the 50th and the length is 15.2cm which i believe is a bout right. they want us back in 4 weeks for another scan, but not sure what this means - anyone else been told the same/ know anyone that has? am feeling really emotional today cause i've got no idea what the implications, if any, there are of this or whether it'll just catch up with itself or whether it just means it'll be a smaller baby...

NikNakF · 15/02/2008 12:47

Morning/afternoon all!

MrsHOP - hi, Nunhead is fine if that's ok. My hubbie works at the Sham, will get all the info for you! I haven't sorted out the email thing on here, do we want to just sort something out? My email is [email protected], looking forward to it! I'm just nearer to Tommies which is nice. Yay on heartbeat!

Chika/Kitty/Pigley - hope you feel better soon.

TJ - oh no! Having said that this is the first Val Day I feel asleep without any but I guess it's just a sign of things to come. Just too sleepy!

Beepbeep - big hugs, I'm sure everything will sort itself out, it just has so much growth to do now.

Rumpel - poor battered baby! How does craniosacral work? Going to see osetopath next week for awful back pain...

MrsHOP · 15/02/2008 12:49

Hi beep beep, have you called the midwife - Doesn't seem right that they have left you in the dark and with no information?

MrsHOP · 15/02/2008 12:51

niknak/chika, I can't work out messages on this thing either, maybe better to email me [email protected]...

beepbeep · 15/02/2008 12:53

yep, have left message for the midwife to call me, am stressing myself by looking all the things it could mean on the internet!

MrsHOP · 15/02/2008 13:08

DON'T DO IT!! I found myself self-diagnosing every twinge early on with the internet and completely freaked myself out - try to wait for midwife if you can, I am sure they will reassure you xxxx

MissChika · 15/02/2008 13:10

Hiya,

MrsH and NikNak - will send emails once I've replied to nappylady (sorry, have been pretty slack this week)and we can meet up and go to one of her sessions.

Great that you heard the heartbeat MrsH.

Beepbeep - a couple of people I know have had the same issue with low-lying placenta and small baby but in both cases this has righted itself by the time of the next scan so hopefully this will be the case with you too..

Boy am I glad it's Friday!! DP cooked a lovely dinner (although he has been doing dinner pretty much every night since we got pg! ) and we watched La Vie en Rose - which I was a little disappointed with. Although the actress who played Edith Piaf was tecnically brilliant. The evening was rounded off by listening to the neighbours downstairs shag for England!! Think DP was secretly jealous as mu libido has gone completely awol!!!

Min912 · 15/02/2008 14:09

Ello ello
Well after my 'this is such a crappy week' rant from a few days ago, all is fine now - knee is on the mend (bit stiff and I'll probably end up with a big scab, nice, but no worse), car battery is charged, DH is over his flu/virus/whatever. I guess these things all seem like major dramas when pg...

Plus I went to the Strictly Come Dancing live show last night and it was fab!!! Felt quite young as most of the audience was women of a 'certain age'. Got back very late for me these days but worth it.

SPD, for me the symptoms are strong pains right in the middle of my pelvis/perhaps slightly to the left at the front. Enough to take your breath away and they last longer than the 'growing pains' which for me are higher, more to the sides and sharp but quick. Makes you go slow and makes raising leg movements difficult, I seem to remember from last time actions like putting socks on took ages even when sitting down. At the moment mine actually seems to ease with movement and are worse when I've been sitting still for a while. Having said that, I have no idea if this is the same for most people...

Also, re Facebook, should we start a 'Mumsnet due in July' group or would that be too much repeating of what goes on here anyway??

Mummywannabe · 15/02/2008 14:17

HI all, been ages since i was on.

Susan - fab news!

All those worrying about lack of movements - up to this week (19weeks) I had movements on and off sometimes none for 3 days. Now its every day. Read somewhere (what to expect when your expecting) that generally if you have felt movements early you should feel something everyday only after about 20 weeks, so sure its fine. I know how worrying it is though.

Have scan on 26th - seems like ages. Beep Beep can't offer any advice but have read lots on mumsnet about people being told various scary things that turn out fine. Hope your midwife gets back to you soon, and do try to resist looking on internet.

NikNakF · 15/02/2008 14:40

MissC - my libido has also gone the way of yours, very disappointing for my DH on Valentines night

Min - SCD sounds fun, wish I could still dance, my back is awful!

Right going to try and get off work early, first weekend off together in ages and want to get started on baby's room (clearing junk basically!)... That means we'll sit around all weekend moanig about how we can't get up

sweetkitty · 15/02/2008 14:59

Afternoon all

misschika - I don't know whether I have SPD or SI pain or as I suspect a mixture of both. For me most of the pain is in my tailbone at the back and my hips, it kind of radiates down from my hips, I also get pain in the front in my pelvis, mine is fine as long as I don't move my legs (!) and as someone else said staying still then getting up is actually worse. I think in general you do get a lot of aches and pains in the pelvic area with the ligaments stretching. I try to feel lucky as I know there are poor women end up in wheelchairs with it and have it after the baby is born too. Mine leaves with the placenta!

MrsHop - dried apricots do it for me too, always remember after having DD1 she was about 3 days old and we were back in hospital as she was jaundiced. Anyway I still hadn't done a poo post birth and everyone always asks you constantly it seems so I told DP to go get a load of dried apricots and raisins. I scoffed them up and they certainly did the trick, we were in a little private room so I was in the loo erm going quite a lot and the paed and MW came round to check on DD1, it was so obvious as I couldn't come out the loo for about 5 minutes and it stank when I did talk about timing.

pigley - hope you are feeling better now, still haven't felt this one today am starting to get worried but then think sometimes it can be a whole day and I haven't felt anything.

TJuice - you cheered me up with your nipple tassle story

Rumpel - your poor DD, my DD2 always has bruises on her legs found two new ones today I knew nothing about, she has discovered climbing big style upstairs this week which means she climbs on a chest of drawers then can't get down and screams for me which is great when it hurts when you go up and downstairs.

beepbeep - don't know what to advice sorry haven't had any experience but I do know that loads of women get worried and paranoid from scans especially about low lying placentas and at the next scan everything is fine, apart from the month of worry.

Better go DDs are upstairs and it sounds like they are wrecking the place (took stairgates off a week or so ago so they are loveing their new foudn freedom) they had got ahold of a lipstick this morning and the poor cat had a red bra on her head as a hat.

Evening xx

Sorry some of you are feeling low or achy xx

lol to all xxx

beepbeep - I'm sure everything will be fine and I'm glad you will get another scan sooner rather than later - this is sure to make you feel better!! I know what it's like to stress out and worry about the little bundle inside xx thinking of you xxx

Had McDonalds today - something I never do - OMG it was fantastic - don't want to think about how bad it is for me - can't be bad xxxx Ah well I just had to have it xxx Actually good job there isn't one near me cause I'd be away getting another one now

TJuice · 15/02/2008 19:54

sorry about your aches and pains ladies and beepbeep - hope you get the reassurance you need.

i have a funny ache on one side of my midriff, it just feels like its too tight - hard to explain but i feel like its being pulled apart. i keep rubbing oil in but its not a skin thing, more like organs or muscles or something.
jaysus - pregnancy is a trip! you just sit back and your body does all this mad stuff. i keep wanting to pull my gut in - its sort of uncomfortable having it out . . .

anyway, we are having chilli-cheese fries tonight. utter piggy food, chips with chilli then loads of cheddar on top . . .

on top of that, i got my english food box today. its sad what makes you happy when you live in a foreign country. i got curly wurlies, creme eggs, strawberry bonbons, ovaltine, gherkins, real tea, tunnocks caramel wafers, orange clubs, walkers crisps and jelly beans . . .
tuck box is now filled up and I have to ration myself . . .
about 20mins after I eat sweet stuff, i get kicked in the guts. either she's a piggy like me and loves it, or its way to much sugar.

sweetkitty · 15/02/2008 21:12

Still nothing from the bump maybe he/she is being weighed down the the quantity of food I have eaten today including half a huge melon, Chinese takeaway, caramel wafer, pancakes, scones, banana, toast, cheese

Tjuice - pregnancy certainly is a trip just wait until the third trimester it gets even wierder (?), love your English food box too

I'm v bored tonight DDs in bed, DP at a leaving do at work, I wish for a bit of peace and quiet and when I get it it feels strange.

sweetkitty · 15/02/2008 21:29

Oh thought I would share another DD1-ism with you all this evening, I'm getting chnaged "Mummy you have a big jelly bum"

"Me thanks DD1"

"You could fit another baby in your wibble wobble jelly bum, yes that's it you have two babies one in your tummy and one in your bum"

Evening chaps
Hope everyone is looking forward to the weekend

I have just noticed that I am not on the list, could you please add me on? Due July 4th, this is second dc as I have ds who is 4.10

I have been having loads of movement this week which was a relief after a quieter period. Dp has been able to feel the movements which was great. I am looking very noticeably pregnant now, with the same big sticking out bump I had with ds. Am hungry a lot of the time, and just starting to feel slightly less tired - actually, scratch that, I am still ruddy tired all the time but I can do more stuff before I actually have to fall over and shout for cheese and biscuits

libralady · 16/02/2008 05:58

Right then ladies,
I'm off on my jollies in an hour or so, so I'll catch up with you when I get back. The joys of 1/2 term holidays.
Take care one and all see you in a week.
LLxx

Minkus · 16/02/2008 11:46

Kitty at having another baby in your bottom!

F&Z I have just had a go at cutting and pasting the list for you, but something is horribly wrong with my set up here and I can't select the text for some reason. Could you have a go? Think you will have fun with re-numbering it

Tjuice, where do you live? No creme eggs aaaargh what an uncivilised place it must be

I had a scrumptious curry last night, we went out with some friends we haven't seen for a few months and had a lovely lovely time. Curry was excellent too I had a lamb sagwalla, was going to play it safe with the sickness and plump for a nice (but dull) korma but my tastebuds got the better of me and I succumbed to the real thing. Thought it might bounce (but the eating of said curry was soooo worth it) and lo and behold, in the pub we went to after the curry house, it reappeared. Thankfully I have mastered the art of silent puking, I think I would have got some really filthy looks being obviously pregnant and puking in a pub loo on a friday night, everyone would have thought I was a drunken old soak who got pissed while preggers!

minipinkscottish · 16/02/2008 13:52

Aw! Minkus - poor you - but at least you enjoyed the curry while it lasted xx

Kitty - how's the bump - jumping again yet?

I have also had quiet times. Last week when I was sooooooo stressed I hardly felt baby at all. This week, now that I am soooo chilled the little bean is jumping like mad!!
Not easy - but try to relax - I'm sure everything is fine! xxlol xx

Minkus - - just while I'm typing this my stomach is grumbling and my mouth is watering - ohhhhhhh I could soooooooo eat a curry now!!!! chicken though - don't like lamb!! I've just had lunch - I'm such a bloater!! xx
