tyaca, i have one of those heat beanbag thinga. I put a few drops over it and then heat it up and put it on my tummy... DH isnt keen on the smell, but i actually quite like it! - Sorry your curry wasnt good, i had a vindaloo last night, but i dont know if i am imune to them now, but i didnt think it was hot at all!!

Mum is coming over this eve and is going to cook one of her 'special' chilli's....great on lots of levels the main one being i get out of cooking AGAIN!

congrats to all, been in hospital since the 2nd feb i had c-section on the 13/02/08 my little boy saba was born, i have not read any of the wonderful news apart from the hatched list welldone to you all its been a long and beautiful journey made comfortable by you all, i hope to catch up with you individually. i cant wait to look at all the baby photos.

I have started a log of baby's feeds, cries, sleeps and wakey times - on my sister's advice - in the hope of dealing better with her windy tummy times - (for this ready screaming)

• they are starting to get me down.

Though now she is sleeping beautifully in her crib - a bit early for bedtime though! - will make the most of it by watching adulty (NOT rude no) movie with DH!

i had a little boy, named Hector James last week on 28th. we just got home from the hospital, he's wailing like a good 'un and my boobs are the size of planets.

i'll post the birth story soon but so glad to see you all 'on the other side'. the world is the same but different iykwim.

hector is a redhead like his daddy.

congrats samsman - was convinced you were going to be our 29/2 b-day. really impressed with the same-day update. hope all goes well in the coming says and weeks.

jaysthird - i am of your Braxton Hicks, which i know is little comfort to you... is it me or has time slowed down?? was v ill with brief stomach bug and was convinced it was the start of something. of course it was nothing but so gutted cause for a couple of hours i thought maybe things were starting to happen.... am only a week late and have become world's most miserable cow.

soz and princessllama, have to ask. unless i read your post all wrong, tis true you used to get loads of ferero rocher at work? that sounds like an ace place to be employed...

tyaca, yes, we used to get so much chocolate i was giving it away to my chocoholic friend. biggest at christmas, easter etc but also randomly from grateful parents. we used to get loads of celebrations and f rocher and my fav of all time-buckets of maltesers-no wonder i was larger last pg;i was working til way later in pg!!

tyaca, bet i could beat you in the miserable cow stakes. time is standing still and am so bored. each phonecall enquiry makes me feel more of a failure for not being in labour. and would you believe was so desperate today that even tried sex. at least made someone's day. def a one off. acupuncture tomorrow then another curry for dinner.

Having a quietish day here. Babies seem to be quite sleepy. Nice for now, but prob a disaster later... Off for a nap now .

Hi there to all,
Sending first labouring vibes to those still waiting - tyaca, princessllama, jaysthird - I feel for you all - just think, won't be long now...

So, started having contractions at 4am on Sunday but they were only 10 mins apart. I was quite happy to let things be but kept on feeling waters leaking so went in to be checked out in the morning. They said it wasn't amniotic fluid (seems common, this!), that I was 1cm and sent me home. Contractions got closer together till they got painful and 5 mins apart, so at 1am we went in (again!). I was then 2cm but because the contractions weren't lasting longer than 30 secs they wanted to send me home again. By this time I was in quite a bit of pain and throwing up so the midwife took pity on me and let me stay. Just as well cos things really intensified and by 4ish I was 6cm! I could then use the pool, and with gas and air (great combination) managed to get to full dilation. That was when things got a bit hairy as lo's heartbeat started dropping and doctors started coming in and out. Then the midwife told me I had to push the baby out now or they would have to intervene. I told her not to threaten me and told everyone assembled I couldn't do it... I managed a bit, and then the doctor helped her out with the ventouse. They then showed me the baby (looking frighteningly blue) and took her straight to the resuscitator as doctors came bursting in (had all been waiting outside). All fine after a few moments thank goodness. Got 2degree tear for I'm sure not listening to the doctor when pushing out her head (sorry if too much info!) but all fine after that. Got straight into breastfeeding, which seems to be going okay apart from the toe-curling yelp I get when she latches on and for my bleeding nipples which are permanently soaked in lansinoh. I can't believe how much my life has changed in a week . Sophie is truly lovely and dp and I just can't stop admiring her...

Just had MIL and FIL for sunday lunch which was v nice. Am trying to write log slavishly - seems all a bit silly now as she has been a dream baby since I started log! Tho am hopeless at night as I don't want to wake up enough to check the time!

Thanks for birth story violetta - thank goodness all Ok with little Sophie. My DD1 was blue too with a pointed head (2 hours of pushing) - I could see her at the time but DH's face was a picture!

Tyaca - don't blame you at all for going mad at 1 week OD - it seems like forever!

I keep a log of DTs feeds and poos. I would never have a clue when to feed anyone otherwise. Beginning to think I ought to keep a log of sleeps as I am sure they sleep too much in day but maybe it just seems like they do. Really need to try to get them to have specific "sleeps" instead of dozing on and off all day.

Congrats to K27, Ruva, mitfordsisters and samsmam, can't believe we've had babies from december to march! (fab names BTW)

I also keep a log of feeds as i wouldn't know which side and if it's too soon/long! I try for at least three hours between feeds and would be easily hoodwinked if i didn't keep a note. My brain has all but switched off now! I can hardly remember my own name let alone anything else! ( I called dd2s boyfiend Jamie today, 'cos Jamie Oliver was on TV, his name is Danny! That's how far gone my brain is!! )

no luck with the acupuncture so far. another mega curry tonight. apparently friday is a full moon so maybe by then. am now so tragic that read mine and baby's horoscope to see if that gives any pointers-talk about loony (it said friday was a big day )
violeta my nipples bled first time round too (for short while only)due to poor latch within minutes of birth-bad error from out of it mother!
