Amazing, thank you so much @Cuppasoupmonster!

Hey due date twins @Hannah223344 @Gilm0reGirl 16 weeks tomorrow yay! I’ve got a private scan booked for Saturday to find out the sex, cannot wait!

Tropicana1 · 03/11/2022 07:55

Morning ladies!
I think I'm going to have to admit defeat on actually catching up reading the thread 🤣 I'm still about 12 days behind but there's so many posts each day I just can't actually make any progress catching up 🤦🏼‍♀️ so no idea what's gone on between the 20th or so of October and today.

Had my 16 week appointment and heard the heartbeat with a Doppler which was lovely and covid vaccination. Got my flu jab booked but haven't had a letter for my whooping cough yet from the doctors so might give them a call in a week or so if I still haven't.

@Cuppasoupmonster could you add me to the list please 🥰 due date 20th April, 2nd baby, will be finding out what it is at our 20 week scan!

Hannah223344 · 03/11/2022 08:16

Morning ladies - I was out walking my dog this morning (in the rain 😞) and slipped over 😳 ... I fell straight onto my bum so no direct impact on stomach, but just a very sore bottom! - how concerned should I be? I have my 16 week midwife appt tomorrow but wondered whether I should call them today? Has anyone else fallen over whilst pregnant...

@Springblooms08 @Gilm0reGirl yay! 🥰

alwaysseeingstars · 03/11/2022 09:14

@Cuppasoupmonster wow, that's amazing - you have a lot of patience! thanks for the list 😊
@Hannah223344 oh no :( glad you're ok! I don't have personal experience so hopefully one of the other ladies can help, but my friend did have quite a bad fall in her 2nd trimester and baby was absolutely fine - they're amazing well protected in there from what I gather!! If you've got a helpful maternity team though I'm sure it can't hurt to give them a call and ask if you're worried 😊
@Tropicana1 I imagine it's different per Trust but I was told I'd get the whooping cough invite after my 20 week scan!

Chocolat · 03/11/2022 09:35

@Cuppasoupmonsterthank you for the list that must have taken a while!

@Tropicana1 i was also told that the whooping cough vaccine would be after 20 weeks up until 38 weeks

@AliceinSlumberland i also haven’t felt anything. I thought I might have felt a bubble last week for about a second but not convinced anymore as I’ve felt absolutely nothing since and I’m 18+3. There was some movement picked up on the Doppler at 17 weeks so that reassured me but would be nice to feel something now!

Skylark1990 · 03/11/2022 09:39

Thank you @Cuppasoupmonster 💞💞💞legend!

@AliceinSlumberland I'm sure you will feel movements soon, I didn't till 18 weeks with DD and even then it was suuuuuuper faint. I totally do that too though, lying down and waiting for baby to move... I've found that if I don't put my hand on my bump I feel baby better from the inside if that makes sense. Still so faint ATM ! I'm 18 weeks tomorrow.

@Hannah223344 a friend did this when pregnant and she went in to have everything checked over even though she landed on her bum. I think almost certainly fine unless you have bleeding or cramping but might be worth getting checked! Will midwife listen to heartbeat at your appointment today? How many weeks are you? X

Skylark1990 · 03/11/2022 09:40

Just went for physio and had to lie down on my front in a big pregnancy pillow thing with the bump hole cut out 😂 anyone else had similar? It was surprisingly comfortable! Baby moved quite a bit during the session too!

Hannah223344 · 03/11/2022 09:46

@alwaysseeingstars @Skylark1990 I gave the midwife centre a call and they weren't too concerned as I had fallen straight onto my bottom! ... I have my 16 week appt tomorrow so she said they will check the heartbeat then anyway, so unless I start bleeding or am in pain, to try and relax until my appt.

MamaMenna · 03/11/2022 10:26

@Cuppasoupmonster well done with the epic list!
@AliceinSlumberland I am the same and just keep waiting to feel something. I'm only 14 weeks so might be a while yet. I feel like I felt something from around 16 weeks last time, but I can't really remember and it might have been nearer to 20. I keep thinking I feel something faintly, but I'm probably just imagining things or it's just digestion 😅

MilkAndFenty · 03/11/2022 10:50

great list :)
third baby due 1st
💛

ancienthouse · 03/11/2022 10:53

I had my 16 week appointment this morning and they told me since I'm feeling movement already, I should call the hospital if I go 24 hours with no movement. I was surprised, I'm only 17 weeks and I thought you shouldn't monitor movement until closer to 20-24 weeks. Has anyone else been told this?

@Tropicana1 I have to get my whooping cough vaccine straight after my 20 week scan. I think I can also get the covid booster at the same time, I hope so because nowhere else near here is still doing them!

They didn't use the doppler today at my appointment but I had a scan yesterday so didn't mind too much! It's funny how that varies so much with different trusts.

Just need to follow our instincts I think. I went in once for reduced movements last time at 35 weeks as I realised I hadn't really felt baby all day - she was totally fine. But aside from that the movements did seem to be regular, but only from like 24 weeks or so.

ncbn1 · 03/11/2022 11:09

I’m 14th with my first and 💙

Lid88 · 03/11/2022 11:10

Love the list @Cuppasoupmonster

I've been pretty MIA the last few weeks with hyperemisis still have a good strong grip on me! it did calm down a little for a week or two but now at 17 weeks I feel like I did back in the 1st trimester - gah! medication barely working anymore so just battling through and praying it calms around 20 weeks like it did with my DD.

It's taking everything inside me not to book an early gender scan, I'm desperate to know now as I'm convinced this one is a boy as I'm craving bacon, bacon and more bacon! With my DD it was all sweet stuff. As it stands my 20 week scan is 28/11. I bet I cave though haha!

Hope everyone is OK? I've just been to my midwife appointment and they don't listen to the heartbeat in our trust until the next appointment but I asked her and she said she'd have a go, and I heard it which was just lovely when I'm being so sick to know it's in there living it's best life still!

Skylark1990 · 03/11/2022 11:24

@ancienthouse I had similar at 16 week appointment, she said to watch out for any changes as I'd already started feeling faint movements - but hard to know what the change is as no pattern yet! So not that helpful. I think the advice you got is probably a bit more reasonable as I can imagine if I didn't feel baby at all for 24 hours (now that I am feeling baby) I'd be worried anyway... but yeah it's hard. Most of what I have read said that movements often dont get regular till after 20 weeks but maybe this is aimed at first time mums?

BerneseMum · 03/11/2022 11:39

Hi everyone!

I’ve been lurking a while but want to get involved now. I’m expecting my first on 12 April. Completely unplanned, dates unknown but estimated at 15+3 at the ‘12 week’ scan. Hoping to find out the sex at the 20 week scan 🤞
Full of nerves due to the lack of preparation and homework, but hoping being part of this thread will ease some worries x

AliceinSlumberland · 03/11/2022 11:41

@Lid88 hate to throw a spanner in the works but I’ve got a massive aversion to bacon and only crave sweet things and he’s very much a boy 😂😂 I was convinced girl for a while cause of the sweet thing!!

Thats reassuring re movements thanks all, hopefully soon. I feel round today 😂

ancienthouse · 03/11/2022 11:54

@Skylark1990 yeah I think I will just ring as advised and see what they say. Hopefully I won't ever go 24 hours with no movement though! I even got a kick this morning at the appointment, I'm sure the baby was listening to then asking about movement!

@BerneseMum welcome, you're my due date twin! this group is so helpful.

I just got an appointment through for a GTT next week!! As well as the one at 24 weeks. I'm not looking forward to it. They've decided I'm high risk because of previous giant baby, history of PCOS, and my blood glucose test was a little high (I don't know why they do them in the first trimester when everyone is sick and living off carbs!)

Cuppasoupmonster · 03/11/2022 11:58

I wasn’t aware about the movement thing this early so thanks for posting that! I’m keeping a loose eye on kicks but not panicking if I go a couple of hours without feeling anything. DD gave me a few scares when pregnant so it’s a balancing act!

AliceinSlumberland · 03/11/2022 12:27

Ahhh @ancienthouse it’s rubbish having to do it twice isn’t it!! I think mine must have been okay yesterday and she said she’d ring me yesterday afternoon if it wasn’t and I didn’t hear anything. The drink was alright but the experience just make me feel sick and tired!

Chocolat · 03/11/2022 12:34

Just wondering if anyone had an advice/recommendations on baby monitors?
Again so many options out there, and I’m sure a lot of the expensive ones have fancy extras that aren’t really necessary.

ancienthouse · 03/11/2022 12:38

@AliceinSlumberland fingers crossed yours was OK! I'm really annoyed because the appointment is on my morning off and I had a lovely morning planned with a spa facial to make me feel better, and now I have to do the bloody GTT instead!! At least I won't have to miss work. I've had so many appointments during work time and have a load more coming up.

@Chocolat I didn't buy a specific baby monitor, we just use a WiFi camera and then view the image on a tablet. Sooo much cheaper. I think the camera was about £25 and it works really well. We never used it when DS was tiny though because I was always in the room with him until about 7 or 8 months (I think the guidelines are 6 months?) and then we've never needed it while we're asleep as we cosleep. So it was just for the evenings really.

alwaysseeingstars · 03/11/2022 12:56

@ancienthouse that is surprising advice, although I do wonder if it's more for if you've already had a baby? I was told at my 16 week appointment (I'd had light flutterings for a few days) not to worry unless I don't have consistent movement by 22-24 weeks. Now I'm panicking as I feel very light movements every couple/few days but definitely not every day 😂

Just been told that I am borderline anaemic which is surprising because I've been on iron supplements throughout the whole pregnancy - need to boost my iron and B12 apparently...

Skylark1990 · 03/11/2022 13:01

@alwaysseeingstars this advice is much more in line with what I've previously been told and read. Esp if you are a FTM, i wouldn't worry - 16 weeks is early to feel movement and it doesn't tend to get regular till a bit later on!

@Chocolat we have the hello baby monitor, got it off Amazon or eBay - was about 50/60 quid and does everything you need it to. As ancienthouse said we didn't use it early on due to the safe sleep guidelines anyway, so you could always wait and see how you get on then buy one when baby is here!
