afternoon all,
I'll have to wait till April for my first scan! they seem to do them at 13 weeks here, and it does just seem like forever away.
Don't worry about your small age gaps ladies - going from 1 - 2 is nothing like the sheer horror shock of going from 0 - 1 in my experience!! My 2 play really well together now (if they're not trying to kill each other that is) and the sight of DS1 leading DS2 around to "ring a ring a roses" actually makes me cry!
Though my gap for this one is a good nine months longer
agirland2boys really really sorry to hear your news and wishing you all the best for next time

bethoo · 25/02/2008 18:16

prepg and sambrands - when i bumped into my mw she said that the risk was highest between the 8th and 9th weeks as that is when the placenta takes over and the corpious linium (something like that) part of the egg that has been supplying the egg nutrients dies so if anything is wrong that is most likely when it is picked up iykwim or something like that. i know that every week you are pregnant increases the likelihood of a healthy pregnancy too.

daisyj · 25/02/2008 18:20

Hi everyone. Just back from a few days holiday. What a lot of chat while I was gone! And so many new people .

Prepg, I know you posted this about 5 pages ago, but in case it helps I just wanted to say I'm feeling exactly the same way as you, so if you're strange so am I! It's my first too, and I'm two days behind you.

Also, I have to get this off my chest: I am soooo fabulously stupid. I have a very nosy, gossipy (male) assistant. So what did I do? Before I went away I ordered two pregnancy related books from Amazon. Knowing that they had been despatched before I left, did I mention to him that he did not need to open the Amazon delivery that would arrive when I was gone as it wasn't work-related? No, I did not. And did I remove the clearly branded Pregnacare vitamins from my desk drawer where he would go poking around? No I did not.

What did I find on my return? An email from him saying that he'd opened the Amazon package thinking it was work-related, but as it 'looked personal' he'd put it away for me in my desk drawer. Where it was, with a little Post-it note from him on it, just in case I hadn't got the message!

Arrrgghhhh. Oh and did I mention he smells not great (not what I need right now), and is the bane of my life...?

If anyone else told me this, I'd assume that deep down they really wanted him to set the rumour mill going, but I really didn't. And it's put me in a foul mood all day. and

Is anyone else this stupid?

Daisyj, dont worry it just gets worse as the brain shrinks due to to much baby inside.

I had my scan this morning. All ok, saw the little tiny heartbeat. 7+6 which is only a day out from my dates! Yipee I can relax now.

CantSleepWontSleep · 25/02/2008 20:11

Aarrrrghhh - stop making me even more nervous about this week! Tomorrow is the equiv of the time (8+3) that my first baby gave up the ghost, so am nervous enough already!

Spink - things I didn't like about Hippychick..
It's designed for right handed people, so if you're left handed you always have to swivel it around once it's on (I am a leftie, obv!).
If you have big boobs (I do) then they seem to get in the way of where the child should be.
Useless for a fidgety child.
You always still need one arm around the child, so never feel very free anyway.
I ended up getting one of these which I got on much better with.

CantSleepWontSleep · 25/02/2008 20:12

Fab re scan Ronshar .

bethoo · 25/02/2008 20:40

myjobismum - sorry for worrying you. i think that is why the embryo actually becomes a foetus because the placenta starts functioning!!

me and my reading the internet!!!

ronshar · 25/02/2008 20:45

Stop reading things on the internet. It only makes you more paranoid and ultimately it really doesnt help you keep the panic at bay. Can you tell I am a nurse who has to correct peoples half knowledge gained from internet all the time. Not that I am saying yours is half knowledge. Bugger digging bigger hole now

hedgepig · 25/02/2008 21:00

ronshar I didn't have the internet at home last time (ds 4.5 yrs) and I didn't worry anywhere as much as I am now so I think you are right. I had a bout 4 books but there is only so many time you can read them.

I'm on my own for 4 days cos DH has gone away to Belgium recently i have been lying in bed for my sons bedtime but tonight I did it , it was all going well until story when I had to be sick. I turn around and he is watching me and then he give me the bucket what a sweet heart! . I just said mummy wasn't feeling very well but I would be OK. We haven't told him I'm pregnant yet so I didn't know how else to explain it.

bethoo · 25/02/2008 21:07

i feel so sick!!! dp had bacon and egg sarnie and the smell is making it worse!!!!

hedgepig · 25/02/2008 21:11

Interesting sling CSWS, does it really work with big boobs? I'm a 36J and I have never got on with slings or carriers cos I'm the wrong shape but this looks a bit different.

hedgepig · 25/02/2008 21:13

ohhhh *bethoo" I feel sick too if that helps. Send him into the garden EGGS how could he I feel queasy even thinking about it.

CantSleepWontSleep · 25/02/2008 21:19

Works great hedgepig, but it is for slightly older babies, rather than newborns. I am 40H and boobs weren't in the way at all. Friend has it at the moment, and I think she likes it too.

Hi all - great to see more people joining this thread

I couldn't resist telling people at work today - I am SO rubbish at keeping a secret!!! My boss wan't in though, so I haven't managed to tell him! Will have to get to him first thing tomorrow, before anyone else does....!

I still don't feel very pregnant, no symtoms yet, which I guess is a good thing, no sickness, not too tired etc. Did another test today after a paranoid moment that i'd imagined the whole thing, but it cme back positive so I guess I'm ok

for those feeling sick, it is grim isn't it?
With DS, I wasn't sick until about 6 months, and went through a phase of pulling over in laybys on the way to work to puke in a ditch - NICE!!! Not sure why I got delayed reaction morning sickness, but I guess we're all different

Whoops, computer went a bit loopy there ( a bad workman and all that....)

fall08baby · 25/02/2008 21:59

Hi I'm new to all this, and am also due in October with my first. I'm 8 weeks and feeling good except a bit tired. Today I've been feeling lots of pressure, like I want to burst. Is this normal? thanks

bethoo · 26/02/2008 08:00

jojay - i do not envy you if you get sick later in pregnancy as the aches, piles, swollen belly as well as sickness!!!!

sorry Pistachio me and my big mouth, i will keep it shut in future!!!

Jambers99 · 26/02/2008 08:16

Congratulations fall08baby, wow there are so many of us expecting in October now.

Glad it's going quickly for you sambrads, I feel like time is still passing so slowly. I'm only 5w+5d today, so still ages to go. Phoned the doctor yesterday and they can't see me until 12th March so I've got ages to wait even for the first doctor's appointment, let alone the scan. Am still thinking about paying for a private scan at about 8/9 weeks to reassure myself that all's well.

Still haven't told anyone, though I'm going out on Thur & Fri evenings this week and will have to come up with some creative excuses for why I'm not drinking.

07mumstheword · 26/02/2008 08:19

I've skim read and not reading too much as it sounds a bit scary.

I had my scan yesterday and am delighted to say everything is fine. I was 6 + 1 and there was a heartbeat.

I'm feeling so tired and sick so I thought something was going on.

CantSleepWontSleep · 26/02/2008 08:24

Yay mtw!

Congrats fall08. Pretty much anything goes in pregnancy! Is it pressure in your bladder or your tummy that you're talking about?

sambrads · 26/02/2008 08:32

thats fab mumstheword !!!!!!!
its lovely when you see a heart beat

prepg i dont know whta i wrote bt i ment that my scan is also on 20th march and it was only 24 days to go well 23 days to go now
sorry if my spelling was bad

ladies dont be nervous about the 8 week 9 week thing everything will be fine and when we have all had our 12 week scan we can all look back and laugh at being so worried

i have got the worst craving ever mc coys beef crisps and kinder bueno how fattening are they not good at all but there so so good

for the past week or so i have had a really sore arm sometimes i feel like i cant lift it at all then when i go to bed i cant lie on it its so strange as i have never heard of this being a symptom
