Hi everyone

There's still some space in the old thread - Waddling Zombies and Dancing Babies so no need to start posting yet. Just thought I would get it set up before I go home tonight ready for all you insommiacs!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Good luck sarah! Hope this is it... I had a great night's sleep the night before labour, probably body preparing for the onslaught so fingers crossed for you. Off to bed now, only 2 hours sleep last night .

Jo9977 · 31/01/2008 12:02

Morning frustrated campers! Really hope things start happening Sarah, ayrshire, Jaysthird, Slacker Pia03hj, Alkar, PK...and anyone else I know! Oh, and me too, me too!!!!!

Had a really sick, dizzy spell last night and nearly passed out...not had it before, nor since...bp fine, it's not something to worry about is it?

Jo9977 · 31/01/2008 12:04

Oooh, oooh, I had a good night's sleep last night too, body relaxed, no restlessness, dozy and snuggled up till 11 this morning....could this be a sign???

Bessie123 · 31/01/2008 12:10

I feel like I've been away from the board for ages; it's taken me about 2 hours to catch up on all the messages (in between working...)

11 days to go till LO due now. Unlike the rest of you, I'm in no hurry for her to come out yet, although I wish she would stop kicking me all the time, she always does it in the same place and it's getting v sore.

Princess Llama - sorry your builders are being such a pain the arse. We have a simlar problem with painters - they don't show up till midday (although then they work till about 6.30) and one of them is so aggressive with me that I don't like being in the house when he's there. They are not due to finish for just over 2 weeks - not sure I can stand it. Of course, the baby might come before they finish, which would be a disaster.

Gill - Malcolm is v v cute.

Pk616 · 31/01/2008 12:47

Good afternoon ladies,
I'm fine thanks mymissus!
Had a lovely day just dossing and chatting with my mom yesterday and then we had parentcraft in the evening where we talked about lovely things like forseps and emergency c-sections. We polished the evening off by having a good half hour complaining session with the head of midwifery about the CMW that's been "looking after" me throughout and her obnoxious attitude. It's not going to do me any good at this stage but it may save someone else from having to dread every MW visit! I guess I should have spoken up earlier but I just kept on hoping that she was just having a bad day and that she would be better at the next visit! I always have given people too many chances!
I had a great nights sleep too with very few loo visits etc but DP woke me up at 7 because we may be getting a few baby things delivered today and he didn't want me to sleep through the bell so consequently I've been a bit like a zombie until now!

manamana · 31/01/2008 12:58

Afternoon all, sending positive labour vibes to everyone with wombs that are warming up for the big push!!! I've just had my health visitor visit to check on general state of mind and she says I seem much better than last time she saw me so she's happy - hoorah! Am feeling soooooooooo much more relaxed now that i know parents in law are on their way - anything could happen now and i wouldn't have to worry about ds. Off to see mw later for blood to be taken ready for cs then I will be settling into relaxing long weekend of being pampered before the big day on Monday!!!!

PK - good for you. Its vital that people give feedback when they've not been looked after properly to try and get things changed for future.

Jo - ifyou're feeling ok now and bp alright probably nothing to worry about but if you are worried, then call mw for reassurance.

Off to do a few more loads of washing! Poor mil is coming to a pile of ironing that is spilling out the top of the cotbed!

samsmam · 31/01/2008 14:15

Not a regular to this thread but thought I'd check in! It takes me a week to catch up then I get even more behind with news!

Congrats to all new mummies and their little ones.

Lets hope there is lots more new babies news soon.

I have just come back from a growth scan and seeing the consultant. 36 weeks tomorrow and they say the baby is 7lb 5oz already. Because of previous shoulder dystocia I was led to believe that they wouldn't let me have another 'big' baby and would induce at 38 weeks. Now the consultant is saying no and I have to wait till due date as it doesn't matter on size. I am now really scared and feeling really blue.

Have to have GTT on Tuesday and then see consultant again on Thursday- how can I persuade them!?! May be I am being silly?

sarahmikeandharry · 31/01/2008 14:19

Hi everyone!!

i have just got back from appointment with DR Bosch- he is an anethatist(can't spell) at my local hospital- (for those that dont know i got a call on tues to come see above named DR as antenatal consultant had referred me- but could not tell me why!!!)

anyway got there and he arrived, it was to advise me to have an epidural in case of complications as i am over weight- with a bmi of 42!!

Apparantly being fat means that you are more likly to require a c section, forceps, have a longer labour and all the horror that anyone can ever have during child birth, WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP!!!!![ANGRY]

Given the fact i delivered DS perfectly fine without any pain relief/stitches/intervention/ help three years ago(within 20mins of arriving on delivery suite i might like to add) and i am only a little larger this time round i told DR Bosch i did not see any reason for the appt-

At the present time i do not want an epidural or any other intervention i do not forsee any problems, however if they arise we will deal with them if the time comes.

Sorry to rant on but i am so pissed off with people trying to make me look bad/small/crap mom/(don''t know what the word is i am looking for) just because i am over the average persons weight and higher risk!!!!

Is it not enough they have already prevented a MUCH WANTED HOMEBIRTH, now they want to give me an epidural- just in case of a problem!!!

oooohhhhh i am so mad!!!!- dh not happy either- as he had to pay more car parkign fees - lol

Pk616 · 31/01/2008 14:26

mymissus - my DP has several alarms that go off of a morning too. I'm luck enough to be blessed with being able to sleep on a shoestring (when not pg!)so usually don't even notice them!
I've been popping raspberry leaf capsules like nobody's business and my BHs have slowed down! that's not the way it's supposed to happen is it!

Morning - I've been doing the old day counting too! I keep telling myself to stop it as it's not helping but I just can't help myself! 8 days to go!

mana - Congratulations for breaking your mythical barrier.
Yep, my early morning energy kept on going all day long thanks!
I know it's good to complain so that things can be improved but I still feel a bit bad about it. I want her to change but I have no desire for her to get into any kind of trouble.
Glad you're feeling more relaxed hun.

Lucy - Fingers crossed for you

Love - When all you wanna do is sleep and eat, that's all you should be doing!
I haven't a clue about post c-section housework but could you not work out a bit of a scedule for your DP to follow to help you out! I don't think it's a good idea for you to lift things like wet laundry after a c-section anyway so definately a job for him to do!

Joosey - Only consider castor oil if you want a guarenteed bout of dehli belly!
I hope things get going by themselves very soon. fingers crossed for you too!

Violeta - I'm convinced I've over packed too! I just don't know what to take out of the bags!

Rozzy - Shaving what you can't see can be just as hazardous, trust me!

Ruva - Sorry about your news. I'll be thinking of you and I'm wishing you loads of luck.

Caramel - happy first nothing work related day!

Princess - No Godparent dilema's in this house but I would not have thought that a boss was a very good idea as a Godfather! I really think you should stick your ground and encourage your DP to think of someone else.

Jays - Glad to hear that your baby's turned.

Lolo - Sorry you're feeling fed up and knackered.

Sarah - I'm still sending you those labouring vibes...now hurry up and get on with it so you can send me some in return

sarahmikeandharry · 31/01/2008 14:28

SAMSMAM- sorry bout you dilema- i can't offer any advise as i have not had this problem, i am sure some one will be along with some help for you soon!!!!

WOW- 7lb-5 is big for gestation though- however they can be up to 15% eitherside of that !!!!!

I am not helping- will go away!!!

sarahmikeandharry · 31/01/2008 14:31

PK- you re so good at remembering everyone!!!!!

Labour vibes coming back at ya!!!!

Pk616 · 31/01/2008 14:31

Sarah - stick to your guns hun! they can't do ANYTHING to you without your consent. They're working on statistics alone and we all know what statistics are... a load of crap! I find it very upsetting that they aren't thinking of you as an individual and taking your history into account. You know what you want and what you're capable of! Sending you some hugs to go with those labouring vibes!

Pk616 · 31/01/2008 14:34

I'm off to do somehousework to try and get this baby moving now!
ttyl

sarahmikeandharry · 31/01/2008 14:37

thanks pk- it makes me mad that they treat everyone as an average- really think policies should be changed, they can make a person feel so bad- its no wonder my bp is up!!!!!

All i can say is lets hope DD comes of her own accord before they decide to induce me- coz i think there will be ructions if they think i will be strapped to a bloody monitor in bed the whole time i am there- at least if is natural i can stay at home as long as possible and hopefully like Harry get there just in time and be home within 7 hours!!!!

As you see i know my own mind, i know i can give birth, i am aware if i need help etc, so will keep calm and do it my way!!!!lol

Amy78 · 31/01/2008 14:46

Sarah - don't get yorself down about it all. I'm having the same problems with the hospital up here (my BMI was 39 when I got pregnant). Every time I see a consultant I get all the worst case scenarios (I guess they're just trying to prepare you but it's f**king depressing) Also a bit daunting when it is your first!

sarahmikeandharry · 31/01/2008 14:52

Hi Amy- thanks, glad its not just me!!!!1

it is depressing though they make me feel like i am not good enough!!!!lol -i know otherwise though!!lol

Pk616 · 31/01/2008 14:52

ooh just popped back as I've had a thought......
We need to come up with a new thread title ladies!

sarahmikeandharry · 31/01/2008 14:54

any ideas PK?

Pk616 · 31/01/2008 15:10

No ideas as yet but I will be thinking it over while I vac!

jooseyfruit · 31/01/2008 15:28

pk- you are such a sweety. Was beginning to feel ignored!!!!

40+3 today, less pissed off.
Have discussed castor oil with dh, will only try if threatened with medical induction.

paranoid enough about pooing in labour, let alone castor oil induced diarrhoea!!

Hope you o.k

mymissus · 31/01/2008 15:31

Just been to midwife - all seems ok and head engaged, so crossed fingers stays that way.

Looks from searching on internet that this doesn't give a time scale on when things will happen though. Any ideas anyone?

Am feeling very annoyed for you too Sarah

Trying to think of a good thread title and getting nowhere, this one is so good its going to be hard to follow....!!

beansprout · 31/01/2008 15:45

How about "February 2008 babies.... Come On Down!!!"?

rozzyraspberry · 31/01/2008 16:13

Hi all.

Exhausted again today - ds2 up having tantrums during the night again because I wouldn't let him in bed with me. I think he's maybe becoming more aware that arrival of lo is imminent. Jo I've had a couple of dizzy spells too - usually when I'm doing cleaning so probably an indication that you should just be taking it a bit easier.

Sarah - what a load of crap!! Why do they insist on so much intervention when that usually results in a longer labour etc. Like you say you've done it before with no problems. Try to ignore it as if you are going into labour it will progress better if you relax - have a nice hot bath!!

Egg - sorry you didn't get much sleep last night. It's nearly the weekend though so your dh can do his bit!!

Horrible cold snowy day here today - now I'm thinking what if we get snowed in and I go into labour - unlikely I know but a home birth not in my plans.

widgetsmummy · 31/01/2008 16:24

Sarah - looks like you definately know what you want and will be able to decide if things go differently - hardly a supportive position for the medics to take is it!?

I've had a few dizzy spells too and am so lethargic and fed up. Maternity leave is currently a bit depressing, why do all the jobs I want to do involve bending in the middle?? Heartburn and most uncomfy! My Mums coming tomorrow so that will help, feel like I need a little TLC. DH really busy at work trying to get as much done as poss before LO arrives which makes sense but want a hug!

Anyway, selfish moan over.

Gonna finish eating the flying saucers... does sherbet help heartburn - I'll let you know!

SallyInYorkshire · 31/01/2008 16:39

love the new thread title beansprout!!!
