Hi everyone

There's still some space in the old thread - Waddling Zombies and Dancing Babies so no need to start posting yet. Just thought I would get it set up before I go home tonight ready for all you insommiacs!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
tyaca · 26/01/2008 19:44

welcome back beansprout. lovely name and cheers for getting your DH on the MN case! take care of yourself.. you'll need to conserve all your energy for giving us loads of details....

CountTo10 · 26/01/2008 20:23

Congratulations Gill and thanks egg for the update

Glad to see you back beans and hope all is well now. Must have been hard not seeing ds - that's one of the things I worry about the most!!

Egg - sorry to hear your dh is having to work and stuff but you sound like you're doing a fab job, defo worth a glass of wine or three!!

I had no idea you could take arnica tablets!!! I will have to pick some up this week.

Had my haircut on fri while ds was at nursery and came home feeling a million dollars!!! I love having my hair done and I really wanted it done before I pop!! Which just feels like it's never going to happen. Although after some marathon cleaning and wondering around asda, and eating a very hot curry, I'm hoping it won't be that long

rozzyraspberry · 26/01/2008 20:42

Congratulations Gill - hope you are recovering well and enjoying being a mummy!!

Beansprout - glad you're out and back with ds1 again - that must have been hard not seeing him for so long and I really feel for those women with pregnancy complications who have been separated from their other children for so long. .

Countto10 - I'm getting my hair cut on Wednesday - anything to try and make the post birth shots vaguely presentable!!!

Take care everyone!

Egg · 26/01/2008 21:37

Hello Beany! Glad you are safely home and Theo is a lovely name .

Off to bed now

ayrshirelolo · 26/01/2008 21:52

Congratulations Gill!!!! and lovely name, Beansprout! Glad you're back home so fast!
Feeling less sorry for myself today (thank goodness.... self pity isn't really my thing!) but still very uncomfy! Have vague pain, but not sure if it's digestive or reproductive, iykwim!!
Meant to say Pk - gorgeous cot bed, we're needing to buy another as dd will be in hers a while longer (we got it from relative, cleaned it up and bought new matress) but have a crib for lo just now (borrowed from dh's ex) which dd slept in for a good couple of months before using the cotbed. We're going to take our time finding a nice one, but yours is the nicest i've seen, is it ToysRus?
Egg, very about the couple of glasses of wine, sounds like you're coping really well with 3 fab children, not easy!!
Anyway, away for a bounce on the excercise ball! lolo xx

Bessie123 · 26/01/2008 23:58

Big congrats to Gill. I think she was having a boy..? Looking forward to hearing LO's name and seeing pics

PK - DP and I bought a cotbed 2 weeks ago and haven't heard anything about delivery yet; I'm starting to get a bit worried, although we do have a crib for baby to sleep in for the first few months. Cotbeds do seem like a good idea - they last ages.

we got this one

Jo9977 · 27/01/2008 04:00

Good to see you back bean! Love the name!!

Glad you're feeling better ayrshire - this waiting lark is hard isn't it? As you can see, tonight's not a good night for me...very restless and fed up with not being able to sleep - when you have a reputation for sleeping like a cat it comes as a bit of a shock!

jooseyfruit · 27/01/2008 04:17

Congrats Gill and Bean!

Morning Jo!!

Wide awake and clearing up remnants of last nights curry!

leesmum · 27/01/2008 08:13

Hi beany and welcome to little Theo, thats a beautiful name btw, how's it going in your house? our boys are similar ages now aren't they? We keep giving ds1 lots of praise for everything and constantly telling him what a big boy he is.

Egg · 27/01/2008 09:29

Sarah you must be so peed off what with everything looking like it was happening. Still, as all those annoying people say, she will come when she is good and ready .

I got SEVEN hours sleep last night. In instalments admittedly but still quite chuffed. DH did the evening shift til midnight, although I stayed up til just after 9:30 watching Top Gear and drinking champagne and beer (not together), then slept til 1:45am. Both babies woke wanting feeding at same time which is bad for them as one of them had to cry for 20 mins, but good for me as it meant they were wide awake and ready to eat, fed quicker, and I got back into bed quicker. Hurrah!

I am really liking the name Theo. It is not very common, but is also not a silly made up name (sorry if any of you are planning made up names!!). My friend had a Theo about 18 months ago too, but I don't know any others.

Leesmum, we are also praising DS1 for everything, he is being a real star, far better than I ever imagined. When he gets up he wants to see the "beebies" and he uses his fisher price garage as a ladder so he can see into the cot and stroke them. He even tried to help me clean DDs eye the other day (she has had conjunctivitis) but he ended up nearly drowning her .

Forgot to say (I think) that DD has a umbilical hernia (or did I tell you already?). Anyway, her belly button is a bit infected at the mo so having to clean that with cooled boiled water at every nappy change which is a bit of a PITA, and the hernia should correct itself within a year. If not she will need surgery but it is only a minor one and the HV said surgery is very very unlikely.

Right, DD cried 45 mins ago saying she was hungry, I got her up, changed her nappy, cleaned her eyes and her button, re-wrapped her and she passed out. So I unswaddled her, lay her on the sofa and she is still asleep. Looks v cute but DS2 is also still asleep upstairs and both have now had over four hours since last feed and DH is about to take DS1 to the shop to get the paper and his regular sunday treat of TWIGLETS (DS1 not DH), so I need one of them to feed NOW!!!!!!!!!!!

Off to try extreme tactics. Will get DD naked and then blow on her she hates it...

sarahmikeandharry · 27/01/2008 12:43

Yep, well peed off Egg!!!!!!

You sound like you have it all under control at home, Well done on the sleep you managed to get last nite!!!

Am v impressed with that amount of sleep Egg!! Ds2 has decided to go nocturnal and now sleeps all day... leaving me with 5 hours sleep in the last 2 nights!
At this stage I can rest during the day but AFAIK, there is very, very little you can do with newborn sleep habits until about 6 weeks. Arghhh!! Am keeping my fingers crossed that he hasn't read the books!

Sarah (and everyone else who just wants to pop now), I really know your pain. Ds1 was horrendously late and every day can seem like an eternity. You wake up every day thinking, "ok, this could be the day" and go to bed thinking, "nah, what was I thinking - this baby is never going to come out!!!" Everyone saying, "don't worry, won't be long" is curiously little consolation too....

Leesmum - that's the same as us. Ds1 is 3.3 and is, so far, being fab. He is a Thomas freak so high praise in our house is being "a really useful big brother".

Thanks for all your lovely comments about Theo's name. We came up with it a bit out of the blue so your reactions have really helped convince me we did the right thing!

SallyInYorkshire · 27/01/2008 16:15

congrats to gill!!!!

retrodolly · 27/01/2008 19:31

Hello all,

Only just discovered Mumsnet - can't believe I missed all the fun for the last 8 months or so! - was posting over at ivillage etc.

Anyway, here now. And huuge. It's my first. Due Feb 11th, booked in lovely west london hosp. And abso-lutely terrified of the whole birth thing .

Would have loved to meet more mums due Feb in London. I guess will now have to be postnatal meetup!

xx
(Week 38)

rozzyraspberry · 27/01/2008 19:48

Leesmum and Beansprout - I'm glad to hear things are going well with your age gap. DS2 is also 3yrs 3months and although he's excited about having another brother I am worried about how he'll cope as he's been the baby for so long. DS1 was only 23 months when ds2 was born so we never had any jealousy issues and he wasn't so aware of what was going on. Anyway - as you both say we'll just have to make sure he's getting plenty of praise and hopefully he'll be ok (although since he started nursery school after Christmas he seems to be 'coming out of his shell' if you like so praise is slightly thin on the ground at the mo!)

Anyway - glad all you new mums are doing well! I feel almost ready to have this baby now although have a few things planned for this week and the weekend, then a meeting at a potential school for ds1 on the 4th Feb so quite happy to hang on for a bit longer!

rozzyraspberry · 27/01/2008 19:49

Sorry - forgot to say hello to retrodolly!!

manamana · 27/01/2008 19:52

welcome retrodolly
congratulations Gill, and well done Egg - you sound very sorted!
Great to hear from you Beansprout, congrats again. DS1 did that brilliant sleeping all day and up on night thing so am planning on waking new one regularly to feed in day if it happens again - ah, it sounds so simple when they are still inside! Must have been tough not seeing your ds, for the mums stuck in there away from their los for a long time.
Dh has had a v successful weekend, has finished all the sanding and has painted hall and landing so I could finally clean up all the dust and it looks lovely.
Also managed to avert his new plans for mil not coming until day before cs, I had planed for her to come on Thursday (4 days before, just in case). Plans back in place now so I feel like I'll be able to properly relax on Thursday with house clean and tidy and being looked after by mil - only 3 days til then

CountTo10 · 27/01/2008 19:56

Welcome to retrodolly, come and join in the jealous waiting!!

Egg - ds had a small umbilical hernia bought on by reflex and it did disappear afer a year so easier said than done but try not to worry and just keep an eye on it. Glad things are still going well.

I echo rozzy's sentiment as again ds is similar age and I have been quite worried about how he'll cope. We bought a pressie from the nubie for ds and we're going to give him special jobs and stuff so there's plenty of opportunity for praise and just try and do the best we can to make him feel part of it etc. I spose that's all you can do - we are after all mere mortals and not miracle workers!!!

I am having huge difficulties at night at the moment. The last couple of days I suddenley seem to experiencing horrendous pain while sleeping in my pelvic area and back. I don't know if its the position I'm in or that I'm motionless for a while and stiffening up but when I move I'm in agony and sometimes my pelvis seems to click and then when I get up it takes about half an hour to unstiffen and walk without pain!!! This morning I had to spend an hour with a hot water bottle on my back and I'd hardly slept. Has anyone else suddenley got this or does it sound like SPD type symptoms - if it is my heart goes out to thosse of you that have been suffering with this cause I've never felt anything like it. I would actually rather give birth!!!!!

ayrshirelolo · 27/01/2008 19:57

Hello Retrodolly! Nice to have your company!
Just checking in to say hello tonight, hope everyone is ok! Interested to hear how the others are doing with big siblings, think my dd will be like your ds1, Rozzy, she's only 19 months and not really aware of anything much although i bought her a doll and pram for Christmas to get her used to the baby thing (wishful thinking) and have a couple of presents stashed away for her when lo arrives. Have also set up the crib in our bedroom so she's used to seeing it,any other advice, ladies?
Apart from that i'm alternating between philisophical and serene (babies are born when they are ready, etc) and madly impatient! (i'm not comfy and fed up being pregnant!) Ah, the joys of parenthood!
Hugs to all, lolo x

LOVEMYMUM · 27/01/2008 19:58

Hi Gill.

Hope you, the baby and DP are ok. Welcome LO!

I guess the LO's will begin to make appearances now! .

alkar · 27/01/2008 20:30

Congratulations to Gill and beansprout - love the name, we have decided to call this LO Daniel when he finally makes an appearance.

Hello to retrodolly!!

morningglory · 27/01/2008 21:01

Congratulations Gill. Hope you are now at home to relax and get to know BB.

Beansprout: I'm a bit concerned because I'm due to deliver at Queen Charlotte. Does this mean that DS will not be able to come to the hospital at all? Love the name Theo, too.

Bovril: good to hear from you. Not much longer to go now! I'm actually delivering 2 weeks early, so I should move my date up to Feb 4th. I don't think I'd be able to make it for 3 more weeks.

Countto10: I'm also sneaking in a bit of pampering prior to baby's birth, because God knows when I'll be able to indulge myself again! Got my hair cut and highlighted, and going to have a pedi on Friday! Maybe I'll have to sneak in a facial, too!

Egg: can't believe that you have twins and things seem to going relatively sanely. Agree to just watch the umbilical hernia for a bit.

beansprout · 27/01/2008 21:18

Morningglory - sorry, yes it does mean that. No children under the age of 14 are allowed in the hospital. We asked if I could be wheeled downstairs to see ds but they said no to that too. They are in the middle of a deep clean and some of the wards are shut so it's a serious business down there at the moment!
