Hi everyone

There's still some space in the old thread - Waddling Zombies and Dancing Babies so no need to start posting yet. Just thought I would get it set up before I go home tonight ready for all you insommiacs!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
LOVEMYMUM · 17/01/2008 19:06

Hi Redbush. My LO is breech (due end Feb) and have decided to have c-section. I do feel a bit worried about an op but getting the baby out will hurt either way!

Lunch was lovely! Have also looked at Flylady. Aarrgh!! Is this for real? Definitely not for me!

princessllama · 17/01/2008 19:43

meet up was great, lots of feisty ladies and one smiley but slightly nervous waiter. hope i didn't scare the pants off the others with cheery comments on the first year with lo. not even going to look at flylady postings as am tramp and too shaming.
redbush-you could give osteopathy a try(with someone who treats lots of pg ladies, my mates at OCC are tops if you are in london) acupuncture is meant to help and i know homeopathy can help but you'd need to have a consultation with homeopath. some yoga poses are meant to help too-all 4's with forehead resting on crossed wrists on floor with bum higher than your head. you can combine this with side-side/back forwards rocking. second time babies are v mobile til right at the end as more space.

LOVEMYMUM · 17/01/2008 19:51

Don't worry princess - it was nice to hear from someone who has been thru it already.

PK - i had same experience in my antenatal class on Monday. I seemed to be the only one who appeared to have any knowledge of what labour and bringing up a baby entails. I did start to wonder if the other people were shy or had left it to the last minute to get ready for their LO's.

Gotta go - DH needs to do some work on the computer.

manamana · 17/01/2008 21:03

hello all. sounds like meet-up was a big success, am v jealous and definitely up for one round these parts!
Hope you feel better soon Beansprout and everyone else who is generally suffering - hmmm, that'll be all of us then!
Redbush - hello [wave emoticon]. Can't help with breech but just wanted to say hi, its horrible when you feel like that. I've been feeling down last couple of days about mum stuff and generally being stuck in the house on my own but have just looged onto email and had a few messages and my lovely dh said 'get on mumsnet' which does help a lot!
MW appt went wellish - head is partly engaged so that'll explain the pain although she said it could slip in and out cos its no. 2 and everything is a bit slacker (nice!). Had protein in urine so got to send in bigger sample tomorrow (had forgotten and only managed to squeeze a bit out just before appt!). Also baby is measuring big but not big enough to cause too much concern. Have to go back next week to get blood and wee results and then again the week after for more blood pre-op and then...... it'll be nearly time.... [terrified emoticon]
Although, I did mention show, strong BHicks and dodgy stomach and she said all could be signs that something could happen early - or I could have to put up with it all for the next 17 days. Don't mind if it comes early now as everything nearly sorted but would need to be during day when ds is at nursery!

ayrshirelolo · 17/01/2008 22:47

Evening all! Glad you all enjoyed meet up - lol at "slightly nervous waiter!"
Nothing to report except slight grumbly pains, but nothing exciting, probably nothing more than ligaments / tendons / muscles etc as i am now officially colossal! (38 weeks... surely can't get much bigger or i'll burst!!)
Anyway spent lots of day sleeping as lovely dh took dd out to see his mum and dad for most of day. They all came back for coffee, and fil said he's dreamt i'll definelty have baby on Sunday! Asked him what flavour and he said he woke up before that so told him to go back to sleep and get me some more info!
Redbush sorry you're feeling lonely! No real advice, mine was breech until about a fortnight ago but has turned. There are about 3 different types of breech though, have you had a scan to determine what position the lo is in? I think this makes a difference to your options, but hope the medics are giving you good advice.
Anyway, big waves to all!! take care, lolo x

morningglory · 17/01/2008 23:08

Am annoyed I missed the meet-up, it sounds like a great time was had. I'm still feeling uggg, and a bit worried as I've had some (TMI ALERT) blood tinged mucus. I'm just going to keep an eye on what's going on "down there", and try and lie down as much as possible. I have a consultant appointment next week, where they will do a cervical check, so I guess I'll just hang in there until then.

So THATS what this FLY business is. Not my cup of tea either (poor DH has been left to his own devices for about 6 months, so I would be a bad FLYwoman).

Good luck manamana with the tests, and hopefully new baby will comply and come in the am, if early.

tyaca · 18/01/2008 00:37

perhaps ring your MW/ consultant MorningGlory? prob worth a quick phone call?

we'll meet up again in a couple of weeks, hopefully. going to start a dicing with delivery dates thread in meet ups... hopefully we'll be toasting a beansprout baby .... among others!

(fly btw guys, is a slightly sinister daily thread in the housekeeping bit of mumsnet. lots of v energetic people listing the chores they've done here there's a new thread daily if you ever feel like taking a look and then feeling guilty about your domestic chaos!)

mana - sorry to hear you feeling blue. nearly nearly there.

Jo9977 · 18/01/2008 09:26

Know what you mean PK - was beginning to question my 'sanity' about travelling so late on as well. We'll just have to stick to mumsnet and maybe meet up after the LO's are here to compare notes! Hope Sarah doing ok and any others who haven't been on for a while...

Nearly off for second NCT class, this time with DH who will, I'm sure, liven things up - he's great at speaking out, often with crazy stuff and doesn't mind being the dunce of the class which is a good job really 'cos he fits the role really well!

Have a good day everyone and hope you are all sleeping better than me...

CountTo10 · 18/01/2008 09:43

Morning all, hope we're all well!! Pah to the fly lady thread. I've looked at the website as well and it's just madness!!!! Some good tips though for stains etc!!

Dp bless him was trying to calm my nerves last night about labour by telling me it'll be easy this time round as it'll just slip out!! I did point out to him that whilst i appreciated his reasurrance, did he want to make any further comments about my apparant slackness downstairs??!!! He realised how it sounded and then started back pedalling at an amazing rate!!! It was quite funny!!

Think my bump is in the process of dropping as it definitely feels somewhat lower than usual so hopefully that's a sign that something will happen over the next few weeks cause I can't stand the thought of being late!!!

mymissus · 18/01/2008 09:51

Jo I am certainly not sleeping well at all!!

I keep on waking up stupidly early and lying there wide wide awake until I get really bored and get up and pootle around. 3 am this morning, so got up and put wash on and hung out, and watched DVD called "Venus" which LoveFilm.com sent me (am trying their 2 week free trial!) which was sad. During this time DP had got up (at 5.30 usual time) made me a cuppa, and gone to work saying I was mad, and if I slept all day no wonder I couldn't sleep at night (haven't slept in the day all week!)and why didn't I come back to work! Honestly!!

Had a doze from 7 til 8 and now KNACKERED...I don't know how you mum's with LO's and older children are coping - I feel all over the place time wise!

Went and had check up with GP and he said not engaged yet - bet I will be the last Feb fattie to produce!

Pk616 · 18/01/2008 09:53

Morning ladies,

I'm glad to hear you had a good meet up yesterday.

Redbush - i know absolutely nothing about breach babies but I have found a website dedicated to them! Here's the link there has to be something on here that's some help to you!

Those Fly ladies sound like complete and utter lunatics to me! there really has to be something missing in your life for you to behave in that manner! I mean there's pride in your home and adoration for your husband and then theres the fly ladies who take it all to the extreame! I want to know how they find the time to post after they've done all those chores! That's enough bitching from me!

I was told by the lady at the parentcraft class that they expect all normal first timers to be engaged to some degree by 36 weeks... I saw my MW at 36+4 and my baby wasn't engaged at all, do you think this is a bad sign? I'm not overly worried 'cause I'm sure that if it was something to be worried over my MW would have said something but it's still niggling away at the back of my mind!

I've been feeling really pants for the last few days too. All weak and pathetic. It can't be my iron because I had uber levels of the stuff and I don't eat any differently. My pelvis feels like its being pulled into two halves by a team of shire hourses. I slept really well Wednesday night and yet spent most of yesterday asleep and still slept all through last night too. If I'm totally honest i could go back to bed now and I'm confident I would fall straight off again! I've been having these damned Braxton Hicks for days. My belly feels like the victim of a prize fighter and then there's the TMI bit... I've been to the loo more times in the last 2 days than I've been in the last 2 weeks possibly months and its all been a bit too, erm, free flowing! So yep feeling pants!

mymissus · 18/01/2008 09:55

That Fly lady website is just wrong...!

CountTo10 · 18/01/2008 09:56

I'm sure I read somewhere that at this stage the baby is active about 70% of the time, so maybe that's why it's so hard to sleep. I find I have times at night when I'm wide awake and then like you tired during the day so I have to put scooby doo on for ds and just lay for a while cause it's better than nohing. I feel mean for ds but I just can't help it at the mo!!! I remember thinking first time round that at least it would prepare me for the getting up in the night, but it's sooo different!!!

LOVEMYMUM · 18/01/2008 10:00

Hi bean - make a big vat of chicken soup and sit by the cooker while its cooking. I did this and it really helped to unblock my nose.

V surreal experience meeting up yesterday cos although we hadn't met in person, we knew a fair bit about each other's experiences. It wasn't like meeting a stranger - more like meeting someone we hadn't seen in a few months.

Morningglory - how much blood do you have? A tiny bit can just be a burst blood vessel causing by a sneeze. Any more and i would call midwife or hosp for advice.

mymissus · 18/01/2008 10:02

Cross posting PK - my GP didn't say there was any hurry to engage, and I am 36 weeks today? Mind you you seem to be showing all the symptoms of engaging, with your pelvis and peeing all the time, so maybe its started to move down now?

And let yourself sleep as much as you want - its your body preparing itself.

Big hugs - shame about not having the midlands meet up but I was a bit worried about the drive up to Solihull too. After the LO's are born though would be great to have a get together.

Pk616 · 18/01/2008 10:02

Jo - yep we'll have to do a mum n bairn meet up! Now that really does have the potential to make a waiter nervous!

Didn't mean my tale of woe about sleeping too much to rub it in to you none sleepers. Bad timing of post! sorry!

Count - rofl at your DP's back peddling!

mymissis - na I'll be the last to produce it would just be typical of my luck!

LOVEMYMUM · 18/01/2008 10:02

Hi count - i get tired in that pattern too. I can be wide awake at 9 pm but have to go back to bed at 10 am (like i'm about to do now). Everyone i know has told me right from the beginning to rest when i get tired - cos i won't be able to next time round.

Pk616 · 18/01/2008 10:09

mymissus - I definately think we all left this meet up business a bit late! Ah well, next time we can plan it better and even, perhaps, go somewhere more exciting than bleedin' Solihull town centre!

LOVEMYMUM · 18/01/2008 10:13

Had a quick look at Flylady for today.

I suppose its a bit like Kim & Aggie on "How Clean is Your House", but not sure about the make-up bit. Haven't read all of it. It might be a good thread for my friend to read: Lovely girl but so not a housekeeper. She had a cleaner in and i really couldn't see the difference - speakerphone to let in visitors was still caked in bits of old food etc. Yuck. Have reached the stage where i won't even eat in her flat. Her children are v. healthy though.

leesmum · 18/01/2008 10:33

Hi ladies...................................................BLOODY HELL I'M IN LABOUR!!!....

Contractions started at 4pm yesterday, there was no set pattern, anything from 6 to 12 mins apart, a little bit painfull but i'm not climbing the walls or anything

Anyway i've had NO sleep at all and rang delivery suite at 7.30am to let them know, they said come in when either water goes/ start bleeding/or contractions are 5 mins apart. So at the moment they are 7 to 9 mins and lasting for about 1 min. I had a bit of a show, no blood just big blob of disharge,

So im chilling out and just waiting, Dp is here and sister came and took ds to her nursery for the day.

I just want it to hurry up now, i'm shattered, but excited as well, i'm really looking forward to seeing my 2nd scrummy boy and giving him a huge big wet kiss.

I'll try and keep you informed im off for a bath now

Pk616 · 18/01/2008 10:45

Leesmum - Woohoo! Keep us posted, somehow!
Good luck, congratulations amd what ever is the appropriate thing to say!

mymissus · 18/01/2008 10:51

GOOD LUCK Leesmum!! How exciting

Bessie123 · 18/01/2008 10:52

Oh, good luck, Leesmum - hope it all goes well and is almost completely painless

CountTo10 · 18/01/2008 11:00

Yipee leesmum, more hatchlings on the way!! Good luck and keep us as posted as you can do!!!

mutha2beagain · 18/01/2008 11:49

Hi everyone,

really sorry I've not been keeping in touch at all. Have had a very sad time with a mum friend who's been going through a really difficult and horrific experience. I won't elaborate as I don't want to upset the pregancy/new baby vibe for anyone.

Just wanted to say congratulations to all the new babies and mums and I hope you're all enjoying your little miracles - treasure them won't you!!

BTW, have just done a big sweep of Babies R Us (much to DS's indignance as he didn't get a look in) and they've got some very good deals on.

I am all set for the arrival and am even starting to pack my hospital bag. 37 weeks tomorrow and waiting... Just have to see the GP now once a week and back to the obs at 40 weeks. They intimated that they would start induction then but there is no way I'm taking a drip without pain relief. Thoughts anyone???

And I'm sad to have missed out on the London meet up but maybe another one might be managed sometime soon.
