Hi everyone

There's still some space in the old thread - Waddling Zombies and Dancing Babies so no need to start posting yet. Just thought I would get it set up before I go home tonight ready for all you insommiacs!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
leesmum · 17/01/2008 09:23

mana good luck at doc's today, i'm sure your iron levels will have gone up, and i know what you mean about groin pain. sometimes i feel that much pressure i'm sure lo could just pop out!

And another thing..i'll apologise in advance for tmi but in the last few day's i've had loads of really thick discharge,no smell or bad colour so i'm not that concerned but it's there all the time, anybody else had this? is it just hormones?

Countto10 sorry for your loss, and i'm sure it meant the world to your brother that he was there at the end x

Have fun at the meet up today ladies

LOVEMYMUM · 17/01/2008 09:48

Leesmum - thick clear/white discharge at the end of pregnancy is ok as long as its not smelly, red or brown or itchy. Double-check with your midwife anyway.

Count - sorry to hear about your loss.

Egg · 17/01/2008 10:02

Ginger - night sweats are BAAAAAAAAAAAD. Get them in day sometimes too, and then next minute am shivering and freezing.

Squirdle, I know the village you mean, although not been there (only moved here in August). My health visitor has told me of a lady there who has a two year old boy and 9 week old boy/girl twins though and has given me her details as she said for me to get in touch, so I might be popping up to KW one day (although not soon, can't imagine managing to leave the house for more than half an hour with two teeny ones.

Thanks for all messages re breast feeding. Basically they said from the start that as the babies are small they would probably need a cup feed top up even if they did manage to breast feed. I know some of you would have probably refused as it doesn't help with establishing bf if they are already on a bit of formula but having had so many problems with DS and bf-ing I decided it was best. So every feed I was putting each one to the breast for 15 or so minutes, they were not even trying to latch on at first, so then I was spending up to an hour cup feeding, so it was taking forever to feed them both. Jacob did manage to suck a few times, but the latch was never right and it was already beginning to hurt, so on day three I decided to switch to bottles. What a relief . DH and I have both agreed that it is making our lives a lot easier, as although I am doing majority of night feeds so he gets more sleep and can do more stuff in the day while I get a bit of rest, it does mean we can both feed them, and also when my doula starts she can feed them both while I go back to bed (if DS is at nursery) or take DS to the park etc.

So, is Sarah in labour? Anyone else? I have lost touch completely .

Took DS to nursery this morning, felt very proud dropping him off as all the girls there were fussing round me and telling me how GREAT I look (I don't, but my tummy is gone apart from a sticky out belly button that refuses to go back in ) so it was just what I needed!

Oh god, countto10 just seen your news . I am so sorry. Must be such a difficult time for you with the birth so close as well.

Someone mentioned bottles i think. We are using Avent as we used them last time with no probs. I have 14 bottles and two sterilisers, plus have bought an extra kettle as otherwise the darn visitors (ie MIL) constantly make themselves cups of tea with the boiled water that you have been cooling forever.

Finally, re: shows, I never had one with DS, but after first contraction had quite a lot of bleeding (like a period) which I had never heard of / read about so was convinced something was wrong (it was apparently normal). This time I had a teeny bit of blood when wiping about an hour after contractions started, but it was always just jelly like with a few streaks (I guess this is a show!).

Sorry, long post again. I type about a gazillion words a minute so I just come here, type for 30 seconds and voila .

Egg · 17/01/2008 10:04

Muslins are INVALUABLE if you have a baby who pukes or dribbles when feeding (think they dribble more from bottles than breast, but can't remember). I forgot to take ANY to hospital, but did find kleenex mansize tissues very handy for tucking in neckline.

Have not bathed babies yet . Been waiting for DS to be out of house so today is the day!

Squirdle · 17/01/2008 10:53

Hi Egg, we have only been here for nearly 2 years too, moved from London, but we love it! We are pretty much in Headbourne Worthy so really just up the road from you.

I am trying to think if I know anyone with small twins near here but I guess I would only know if they had school age or nursery age children. I couldn't imagine trying to get out with 3 under 2!! E-mail me and if we are brave enough we could meet up for a coffee sometime bex at peerings dot net (with the at and dot replaced obv.)

widgetsmummy · 17/01/2008 11:04

Egg - the twins are gorgeous! Glad you are all doing so well.

Hope Sarah is ok - maybe another LO on its way or here already!

Nothing to report really - just waiting... you'd think after 8 months 3.5 more weeks would feel close but nope... feels like it could still be ages til I get to meet Widget. Wonder how crazy we will all go before they all arrive???!!!

Egg · 17/01/2008 11:32

Don't forget to repeat my mantra

"ooh I want to have some babies", it worked for me.

I also had FOUR (yes FOUR) mouthfuls of beer the night before. Maybe that helped .

CountTo10 · 17/01/2008 11:47

Ha ha campy pains, honestly my typing is so bad sometimes!!! Hope everyone who's meeting up enjoys themselves, not jealous at all!! Thanks for the messages re my bros dad.

Having a lovely relaxing morning, not done anything. Still coughing and my stomach pains have now gone - phew as I'm a lot more comfortable!!

I would defo advise muslins as they just seem to mop up a lot more!! Ds had reflux and it was a lot better than the other 'burpies' we had.

On the subject of shows, I had one last time after being examined by the doctor at the hospital and ds turned up the next day. Some people can have a show though and it not mean anything.

Egg, sounds like you're settling in to life as a mum of 3 fantastically and love the idea of the extra kettle!! I'm hoping bf will work out but if it doesn't then so be it, I'm sorry but I think there are more important things to get zealous about and bf one baby is hard enough let alone 2!!

CountTo10 · 17/01/2008 11:49

Oh and ca I just say that after I read the post re someone offering their dh a lapdance, I had a dream about being the lapdancer at some xmas party for my dp's football team - pg as hell!!! Not the most attractive!!!

Egg · 17/01/2008 11:52

Thanks countto10, my thoughts exactly. The exhaustion is enough and if you are worrying about feeding, babies losing weight, screaming babies who have had no food, jaundice etc it makes life a lot harder! I keep saying to people "if it was only one baby I would have tried for longer" but to be honest I probably wouldn't. The only problem is formula costs a FORTUNE.

Glad your campy pains have gone!

Oh, and believe me when they outgrow this sleeping phase (no idea how long it lasts as DS never had one as he never got any food!) I will not seem like I am coping. Plus I have DH here, but he is back to work on Monday. Then my mum will come for a week and the doula will come in for a few hours, but once my mum goes I will be alone until 10ish am and from 3ish pm and think I will go MAAAAAAAAAAAAD. Bedtime? Argh.

Pk616 · 17/01/2008 12:28

Count - I'm so sorry for your loss.

JO - I think we may have to knock the midlands meet up on the head! Sarah seems to be labouring - possibly - and I discovered, when driving my mom back to Solihull yesterday, that I just can't do the drive any more. Steering pulls like buggery on my stomach and I had to stop for a breather 5 times between edgbaston and Solihull.

I hope all the londoners are having a nice day together.

We had our second parentcraft class last night. It was another two hours in a room of over 30 people with only two partcipants, DP and myself, just like last week! Aren't these people even in th eleast bit interested in trying to learn something? there were mobile phones going off all over the place and anytime the lady conducting the class asked the room a question they all just sit there! DP and I are soooo fed up of being the only ones to speak up and say anything! On top of that we didn't learn anthing new so it feels like time wasted. We went on the tour of the hospital. It's clean but it's a proper hole and they only have one birthing pool (which is actually very shallow so more of a luxury bath)which you can't use if the midwife who "does water births" isn't on duty when you turn up in labour. I really wish there was a real viable alternative available! I have a family history of uneffective contractions so I really do need to be in a hospital to be safe rather than sorry.

Bah! must stop winging! So long as my baby makes it to the outside and is healthy the rest doesn't matter.

Still getting loads of Braxton Hicks but I'm learning to ignore them now so I can get on with things. I'm not over doing it like I did on Monday but things still need to be done and I can't just sit and let the place fester!

gingermumi · 17/01/2008 13:18

Thanks lolo, that makes sense. Anything that makes me thinner is a good thing!

Hope the meet goes well today. I notice we've got a couple of winchesters, egg (and squirdle?), chichester (mana) and me somewhere in the middle. Perhaps we could do same when everyone has hatched. Wot do you think? Plus anyone else local to this area, of course. We could could go for something between two.. Portsmouth? What do you think? am happy to come to either city though, if that's better.

Count, so sorry for you, Big hugs hun. Be good to yourself.

Any news on sarah?

Whinge away PK - can you change hospitals to get what you want? A bit contraversial i know at this stage but might be worth a thought.

Midwife has been today and discharged me but not toby - apprentlty she can't do this until his cord drops off (which it hasn't done yet). Seems like it was ony a few weeks ago she was here doing booking app!

my gorgeous boy wants booby so have to go for now, have a good day

cosima · 17/01/2008 13:23

how was the meet up in london? I couldn't make it cos I had a hospital appt and told to go and rest cos of protein in the urine

beansprout · 17/01/2008 13:26

Afraid I didn't make it either! Am feeling pretty rough at the moment and reluctantly felt that I really should rest today (ds is at nursery) while I can, so I don't go into the whole thing (next week - eek!) feeling ill!

Hope it went well though and that we can arrange another one with our lovely babies!!

Bessie123 · 17/01/2008 15:02

Meet up was great, we missed two of you

It was really good to put faces to the names, but too much talking and I got back to work late (naughty girl)

beansprout · 17/01/2008 15:05

Sounds good. Am glad you had a good time. Was there talk of another one?!!

Am feeling rougher as the day goes on. This is not good.

Bessie123 · 17/01/2008 15:11

We talked about poss meeting up again in a couple of weeks, but nothing set in stone. Sorry not to see you there - hope you feel better soon.

tyaca · 17/01/2008 15:50

bean you were missed! you've been quiet of late, hope all ok??

cosima, morning glory and caramel chew missed you too... tsk. excuses excuses, anyone would think you were all carrying an extra 40% in bodyweight and about to have go thru one of the biggest physical traumas of your lives

as bessie said, lovely to put names to faces, or rather - aliases to faces...

Egg · 17/01/2008 15:59

Bean could feeling rough mean things are happening? Or is it cold / flu like rough? Would it be ok if you go into labour earlier than c-section date? Hope all is ok.

Just about to go to bed for an hour before DS gets home from nursery. Glad meet up went well and yes I would love a meet up over this way. Squirdle is not a Feb lady but does live v near me, we have been chatting and hope to meet one day.

STILL no news from Sarah. Hope she is ok as if she was due to have a homebirth it's not like she is stuck in hospital unable to get on MN like I was (although maybe she is enjoying lying in bed with her newborn of course...)!

Bessie123 · 17/01/2008 17:31

Tyaca - I just found the flylady thread you were telling me about. It is properly scary; a thread full of Stepford wives - even their posting style made me feel rushed and stressed out.

Redbush · 17/01/2008 17:42

Hi all, I know I haven't been around for ages and don't really feel part of the gang at all but do now feel totally invisible! . Is there really nobody else who knows they're breach and worried about it or could offer any suggestions? Please

beansprout · 17/01/2008 18:02

Eek! I am feeling like I have a cold! Not sure what the deal is if I go into labour before Wednesday....! Either way, hope to meet up with the fellow Londoners soon!
Egg - are those pjs still on offer? Sorry b/f didn't work out but I completely understand how that could be extremely difficult with twins. I really wouldn't know where to start.

Redbush - sorry, don't have any advice. What has the GP or MW said? Are they going to try to turn the baby or are they suggesting a c-section?

Hope Sarah is ok!!

tyaca · 17/01/2008 18:14

hehehe bessie, see - i aspire to be like them! i really do. its not just about shining your sink, flylady mantra dictates that you don full slap, do hair etc before anyone in the house wakes. you're also meant to wear proper shoes, all day long, even if noone's going to see you....

redbush - i can see you! don't know much about breach, 'cept that it's the one are where western and alternative medicine meet a bit. know some people who've found acupuncture sucessful. my MW was saying there are two types of breach - one of which is much easier to turn.

Bessie123 · 17/01/2008 18:15

Like I said, Stepford Wives.

I hope I will always have better things to do with my life

beansprout · 17/01/2008 18:16

Wow, didn't realise that about the Fly stuff. I thought it was just a bit of encouragement to clear out cupboards. Full make up, dinner on the table and a BJ every night for hubby - we think not!!
