Hi everyone

There's still some space in the old thread - Waddling Zombies and Dancing Babies so no need to start posting yet. Just thought I would get it set up before I go home tonight ready for all you insommiacs!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MERLYPUSS · 16/01/2008 11:08

Just been to have blood done at my sister's doc's surgery (she is the manager there). All the staff said I didn't look that big. Sis on the other hand thought I had grown since yesterday! Feel absolutely mahoosive. But it is all bump in front and nothing from the back.
Hope all are well. I had a better night last night, cough is subsiding, but had an hour of tum tightening (braxton hicks?) from 4.30am. Pesky twinnies !

ruva · 16/01/2008 13:55

Hi ladies,
congrats to all the new moms, the twins are gorgeous. Just a quick check in am off shopping to complete the hospital bag.
A big thanks to the lady who told me about getting spares for the crib i have ordered them from mother care.
I have been unfaithful hanging around the pregnancy thread was having a rant about people who are being mean to me for buying my 1st baby second hand things.
Have a shining day!

leesmum · 16/01/2008 14:06

Morning all

Sarah how are you today? Any chance of that baby sharing my birthday? i'ts a shame you didn't get out for your meal as that was probably your last supper im not doing too much today, no real plans. I got a huge amount of choccies for my birthday, normally i get loads of wine but maybe everyone thinks i need the calories more!!

Mana dont really know what to say apart from the fact that you and your unborn baby have to come first, so keep focusing on meeting your lo, it wont be long now xxx

Blue hope it goes ok for you at hospital x

and Gill where are you? ok i hope, you don't seem to have been on for a bit, or maybe we have another arrival imminent

Princess i am having night sweats also' its really horrible and dp called me a meat hog the other night,it's ok though i soon shut him up when the subject of diy vasectomies came up and well done to your friend, how scary/exciting at the same time.

How are all the new mummies doing? i must admit that all the photo's of babies are beautifull.

P.K what on earth are you on woman? slow down, don't forget to leave some jobs for your dh.

hi Caramel, you have made me laugh..."muslims are great for mopping up spills" are you sure about that i used mine for ironing delicate stuff and also when ds was a newborn he wasn't sickly but used to dribble a lot so i would put one under his head when he was in moses basket so that i didn't have to change fitted sheets 6 times a day just for a little bit of milk.

tyaca · 16/01/2008 14:48

happy birthday leesmum. not long to go til you can play catch up with the wine drinking.

re your query about gill - about a week back she posted she was having difficuly with her net connection, and i know she on mat leave as of monday. so maybe less access to web now at home? or less time to kill

merlypuss - you are NAILS. i cannot believe you have had brain surgery under local anaesthic. jaaaayzuz. that kind of puts just about everything in perspective

egg - congrats and good to have you back, i am looking forward to having a cup of tea and sitting down to give your birth story a my full attention. and pics too... esp looking forward to seeing what baby jowls look like..

ginger and sarah - belated happy birthday. sarah, fingers crossed next time we hear from you it'll be with news of a baby-shaped present.

saw MW today and am measuring small. am 34 weeks and am apparently 3cm under ideal fundal (??) legnth. within 2cm is normal, so not far off. got to go in next week to be measured again and then maybe growth scan. anyone else measured small?

had a bit of a nuts 48hrs at start of week. just felt quite crazy and got myself into a bit of a state. have been sleeping lots since yesterday afternoon and, tho' exhausted, am feeling gradually better.

saw my bro and SIL's LO yesterday - she's just over a month old and gorgeous. they have a maternity nurse that have brought in from california who could not hide her shock that that i've not had any parenting lessons . she went on to try to give me as much advice as poss in a half hour period, and SIL has since emailed to say to email her with any questions before nurse leaves at end of feb!! quite helpful stuff, but, bless it made me laugh as the nurse was quite humourless (well, she didnt laugh at my jokes, anyway .... that's got to mean she's got no sense of humour, right?) and all i wanted were cuddles with the baby and a bit of lighthearted baby chat!

right... i am trying to stay awake as tescos being delivered (first time, hoping it works as a long term plan) and then attempt to tidy.

tyaca · 16/01/2008 15:02

LONDON MEET UP TOMO

hiya guys, really looking forward to this.

Princessllama - did you manage to sweet talk your mum into babysitting?

Cosima - be great to meet you.

cheers

Bessie123 · 16/01/2008 15:55

Does anyone know what happened to Leggylil? She was worried about going into labour early just before xmas and she hasn't posted since.

Happy birthday for yesterday, Sarah, and to Leesmum for today

saskia71 · 16/01/2008 16:37

Lovemymum ? I live in Surrey and my hospital is in London, so my only practical options were either an induced delivery or an elective c-section. I could have gone for an induced delivery but I have a scar from a previous gynaecological procedure, and my consultant considered this to be an added risk. He did not want to end up performing an emergency c-section due to distress to either the baby or myself. In his opinion an elective c-section is much better than an emergency one. I also have a pragmatical approach to childbirth and for me it is just a means to an end. The objective for me is a live healthy baby (and mum) by the most suitable means. If my consultant?s evaluation is that an elective c-section provides the lowest risk when everything has been considered, I am happy to go along with it.
I hope that everything works out for you. You are aware that you can have a vaginal delivery even with a breech presentation. It calls for a skilled obstetrician to do the actual delivery and a theatre on stand-by. Anyway, my recommendation to you would be to discuss all your options and risks involved with your consultant. If you do mutually decide on an elective c-section, then find out exactly how it is done at your hospital. (Who does what and when does vary from hospital to hospital). Will a consultant be operating on you with an anaesthetist cons attending? Can you discuss your pain relief with the anaesthetist beforehand?
It is best to know what to expect from the time you leave your room/bed to when you return, including the care of the baby.

Pobletsmum ? Thanks for asking. I am absolutely fine apart from awful heartburn and slightly puffy ankles. My obs has a schedule for first time mums: every 4 weeks until wk28, every 2 weeks until wk36 and then weekly appointments. Is this not the norm for all first timers? He also prefers specialist scans (fetal wellbeing), and I am completely addicted to these!

How exciting waiting for the next birth announcement - will it be sarahetc

Jo9977 · 16/01/2008 17:25

Happy birthday leesmum!

Jo9977 · 16/01/2008 17:25

Oh and have a wonderful meet up tomorrow you londoners!

Bessie123 · 16/01/2008 17:36

Saskia - what date are you having your c-section?

LOVEMYMUM · 16/01/2008 19:10

Hi Saskia - thanks for replying. Info v much appreciated. DH is a Dr so he will be grilling the consultant about procedure etc. I know i can have vaginal delivery but not sure if i want to go thru with it. Either way - labour's going to hurt!

Couldn't agree with you more about a c-section being a means to an end. My friend had to have a c-section and was v upset. She hadn't even considered the possiblity of it happening. Vaginal or c-section - am not bothered either way.

Not all first-timers are seen as regularly as you are - i know it varies but i have been seen as often as you (i live in London). Have heard rumours that Watford offer either 12 weeks OR 20 week scans - not both.

Egg · 16/01/2008 19:13

Once again popping on without reading many posts, feel guilty as hope I am not missing anything vital, but don't think there are any births I have missed I hope!

Just wanted to say happy bday to leesmum, have been thinking about you all day knowing it was today! Hope you had a good one and I imagine your dad was in all your family's thoughts today on your special day (as with every day I am sure).

Squirdle, I did also just notice your post, whereabouts are you? We are in Hyde. You don't have a profile, what age are your DC(s), wonder if our paths have ever crossed (she says as though the population of Winchester is 50 people...).

Babies doing well, eating (formula) for England. Jacob is a bit jaundiced but nothing to worry about.

Really will catch up properly tomorrow and read all posts as DS is at nursery so when babies are asleep (all the time when not eating, except at night when they want to party), I can read everyone's posts and see what's going on.

FINALLY, all those meeting tomorrow, have a fabulous time, I am that you can all get to know each other and swap numbers. In the middle of the night I have been thinking it would be nice to be able to text some of you once more babies are born and say "I AM DYING OF EXHAUSTION AND AM UP FEEDING AGAIN" etc, if anyone wants to keep in touch you can mail me on christina hutchings @ hotmail.com (no spaces) and send me your number so we don't feel alone in those loooooong dark hours!

Hmm, my quick message is not so quick!

Got loads more pics I will try to add to profile tomorrow.

Egg · 16/01/2008 19:17

Oh if anyone wants my raspberry leaf tea and tablets, disposable pants (unopened!!!) and breast pads (not needed ) please let me know, can have free for postage.

In fact, also have breastfeeding pj's from Blooming Marvellous only worn for 3 days in hospital with matching dressing gown. They are size small (but seem rather roomy). Not worn during birth I assure you, in fact not until over 24 hours later, and fully washed! I have no need for them if anyone would like them. Am happy to post all and any of this.

LOVEMYMUM · 16/01/2008 19:23

Hi Egg - good to hear from you.

It still hasn't sunk in that i'm going to have a baby of my own!

rozzyraspberry · 16/01/2008 19:54

Hi all!

Tyaca - I started using the tesco delivery service at the start of my pregnancy. Had problems with stomach muscles last time so decided not to spend time pushing trolley around this time. Also ds1 and ds2 are now at the age where shopping gets a bit dull after a very short time. Anyway, have been really impressed with it - just a shame they don't put it away for you!!

Egg - your birth sounds fantastic - obviously hard work for you but quite quick and great to have a natural birth with your twins. As someone who didn't manage to bf ds1 I sympathise that it hasn't worked out. Don't beat yourself up about it (from someone who did!). It's not something that's ever come easily to me and I'm sure it must have been doubly difficult with twins (who by the way are absolutely gorgeous - very jealous).

Leesmum and Sarah - happy birthday (sorry slightly belated Sarah) and hope to get some good news from you Sarah soon. Leesmum I'm surprised you're still hanging on after your early delivery with ds1.

Anyway off to slob in front of tv. Finish work tomorrow so will hopefully be able to keep up with everyone better after that!

leesmum · 16/01/2008 20:30

Sarah, still no news yet????

Egg its good to hear your twins are thriving, when ds was born and only weighed 5lb 12oz i thought it would take ages to put weight on but he ended up being 7lb within two weeks so it doesn't take them long to catch up, thanks for thoughts about dad, even though i'm a red im rooting for man city to go through tonight at the begining of EVERY season dad would put a tenner on city to lift the F.A cup (he was sometimes very deluded!!)

Thanks for birthday wishes off everyone, its been a quiet one this year

And rozzy, yes its typical isn't it!! watch me go right over with this one and end up being induced

Have a great meet up tomorrow ladies, have some cake for me

gingermumi · 16/01/2008 20:45

mana- i can't understand ur mum at all, i hope you can sort things out soon.

Tyaca - thank for birthday wishes, i had the best pressie ever, we were home from hospital the day before so woke up with my lovely baby as well as my dds.

Hope all going well for Sarah - anyone know if there's news?

Hatched mummies - are any of you suffereing from night sweats? I am, and i notice that non-hatched are too - is it a hormone thing post-natally too?

Redbush · 16/01/2008 20:58

Hi everybody, sorry haven't been around for months and feeling very out of touch with you all. Obviously some babies have arrived already - fabulous news. I'm nearly hitting 35 weeks and discovered today (although had my suspicions for some time!) that beanie2 is breach. Anybody else out there in the same boat and anybody been there before? Hoping to get some acupuncture to encourage it to turn but not feeling particularly positive about it right now! DD was head down and stayed there by this point last time.

Gill79 · 16/01/2008 21:03

Hello - thanks for your concern leesmum but no exciting developments here. Now I'm on mat leave I have to sit on the floor to use the computer, plus it's attached to the TV so you have to start it a couple of times for the TV to register it and then you find the mouse doesn't work and have to restart it again! (and yes Tyaca it may also be something to do with no having to avoiud work anymore!!) And I have been very busy at my new job of fantastic doting housewife

Lovely pictures Egg - hope you are settling in well at home with the new additions.

Mana - sounds like you have done all the running, been the mature one and done everything you can. Definitely agree you shouldn't do any more at the moment - the ball is in her court!

Have just had a first session of pre-birth acupuncture which my friend in N London (Hackney) does. Is supposed to ripen the cervix, give you more energy for pushing and give a quicker birth. If anyone wants more details let me know....

Looking forward to the london meet-up tomorrow girls!

CountTo10 · 16/01/2008 21:22

Good lord that's taken ages to catch up!!!

Egg/Mini - congrats again and babies are beautiful, hope you're all well.

We have been a house of colds here so have been feeling really rough. Bad enough that lungs are non existent as bubs likes to shove them out of the way but all chesty too so really struggling to breathe!!! Only 3+1 weeks to go and I can't wait. I just want the baby here now. We've finally got the nursery sorted and our flat is back to normal. I don't know how much longer I could have put up with it so I feel for those with builders in etc, I don't know how you're doing it. Also been a bit stressed as my little brothers dad ( my mums ex, was my step dad for a time, long story!!) died of massive liver failure yesterday. I'd taken my bro down to southampton on monday night which dp was really pissed off about. I did suffer for it yesterday but I'm glad I did as it meant he was there when he passed. I hate the restrictions of pg - i want to be down there with him but obviously I can't. It's weird cause his dads bday is the same day as mine and I can't help feeling like he's making room for a nubie.

Baby is curled up on its side at the mo, head down but bum to the right. It's actually quite funny cause my whole bump is bigger on one side so you can really tell. Have been doing the all on fours thing but doesn't seem to be shifting.

Thanks for the note re tomme tipee bottles, picked some up at the wened. I would strongly advise the online shopping (I use tesco) as it's so much easier now and after knowing that you don't have to do it and you can book it up to 3 weeks in advance with tesco.

Have been really achy the last couple of days. campy pains in my tummy and back ache. Plus came over all funny today - sim to what lucy described at the wend. I do think though if the baby suddenley shifts itself around it does effect you.

anyway enough of my ramble, hope everyone's well and look forward to hearing of more hatchings.

ayrshirelolo · 16/01/2008 22:05

Hiya all! Egg, photos are lovely!!! The twins are gorgeous, how you coping? I couldn't breast feed dd at all, still waiting for milk to come in 18 months later - not had a drop! Means this time i'm not going to spend 3 days in tears trying though, and dh can do much more to help! Have already bought all new teats,a big tub of Aptamil newborn and dug out the sterilizer!
Re night sweats, one of the ladies on Jan thread has been told it's not hormones but body getting rid of excess fluid / water retention, wouldn't it be nice if all the advice agreed!?!? Not sure myself but it's horrible!! Wish it would stop!
Happy birthday to all who have had / are having birthdays soon!
Have fun at meet up tomorrow all you cockney babes, eat some cake for all us northerers!! Sleep well all, (ha! ha! that'll be right!!!) lolo x

Squirdle · 16/01/2008 22:17

Hi Egg, we are in KW (village up t'road from you, I think) so not too far from you at all! My boys are 14, 5 and 3, older than all of yours so I doubt other than a possible path crossing in a shop or something we are unlikely to have...well...crossed paths Boys go to the nearest secondary school to you, KW school and a nursery in Martyr Worthy. I'm not going to be as spottable as you, obviously , but I will look out for you and maybe pluck up the courage to say hello [scared emoticon]

Ooh I suppose we could have crossed paths at Creepy Crawlies, you ever been there? Or Jo Jingles?

tyaca · 17/01/2008 00:54

oh, countto10, sorry for you and your family's loss. hope all ok. in the meantime, do tell more of these campy pains... i'm intrigued

morningglory · 17/01/2008 06:26

Morning all. Had a rough night (started feeling really ill last night) and unable to do much last night. Alas, feel just about the same this am, so I'm going to have to cancel meeting you all today . Enjoy lunch, and hope to meet you all soon.

manamana · 17/01/2008 08:10

Wow, what a lot of chat while i've been offline! Lovely to hear from some of you who haven't been around for a while.
Sarah, hope all OK with you and some progress is happening! My waters broke before labout kicked in properly last time and my hosp had me booked in for an induction 24 hrs later cos of infection fears so I wonder if that's what is happening.
Belated happy belated birthday wishes
Count - really sorry to hear your news, it is much rder when you can't 'do' anything because you're pregnant but sounds like you made a big difference by getting your brother down there in time. I know what you mean about the breathing, I had the same thing over xmas - ended up with antibiotics as Dr was concerned about state I was in!
Thanks to you all for your positive comments re my situation with my mum - really lovely to feel like I am not being completely unreasonable in thinking that whatever is going on she should just bite her tongue and focus on me at the moment. Am feeling really low about it, dh is goin to ring to speak to them tonight and see if he can make any progress - if that doesn't help we'll just have to forget about it until later. Just can't really imagine her not being round for new baby - mostly for the baby rather than for me, I know he won't know but we won't have the photos etc for when he's older. Good news is my brother is being lovely and has booked himself and his family into our local Butlins for a long weekend while dh is still on pat leave so they can come see the baby and take ds1 to play with them .
Off to see mw today for check, getting blood taken so keeping fingers crossed the iron is working. Also hoping she is going to say that head is down otherwise goodness knows what all this extra groin pain is!!! Take care all.
