Thought I’d start this as a follow up from the ‘TTC NOVEMBER 2021’ thread for everyone who got their BFPs! ☺️

@CatsBooksAndRain I echo @SantiagoSister. It is a personal decision and I guess consenting depends on whether it would affect your pregnancy outcome if the results aren't negative. I myself am very happy to go along with the testing. I did for both my children and found it reassuring at the time. I was a bit younger when I had them so perhaps in my naivety I never considered the possibility that the results could come back anything other than negative for the conditions it tests for. If they had I don't know how on earth I would've faced that situation. I'm older now and will consent again to the tests but with a more mature/knowledgeable/been around the block head on my shoulders. Perhaps have a chat to your OH before committing to anything x

CountryGirl189 · 23/01/2022 16:34

@CatsBooksAndRain - it’s definitely a personal choice, but we’re absolutely for it, so much so that we’ve decided to pay for the NIPT privately.

Of course we are absolutely hoping that it comes back that all is well, but it’s important to us to be able to make an informed decision.

Especially with Edwards and Pataus, as the baby rarely lives long beyond birth and to us, that isn’t fair on the baby or me carrying to term having that knowledge.

But I absolutely see why some people would rather not test and only you can make that decision 💕

LT543 · 23/01/2022 18:45

@CountryGirl189 sorry to jump in here, can I ask what the private NIPT is? Is this different/more accurate to the NHS test?

CountryGirl189 · 23/01/2022 20:39

@lt543 - essentially, yes!

You’ll be offered the NIPT on the NHS I believe if you come back as high risk, however the NHS standard testing is 85% accurate and the NIPT is over 99% accurate.

We’re going with the IONA test which is the standard NIPT here in the UK, but Harmony is also a well recognised one worldwide 😊

For us we’re going private as we don’t want to be waiting around for the NHS one, whereas with this one we’ll have the results within 5 days and we go on Wednesday. I’m 11 weeks, but you can have this one as early as 10 weeks and the can also tell you the gender from it too, however we’re keeping it a surprise until it’s born 🥰

EmmJJ1991 · 24/01/2022 12:40

Hey Ladies

How are well all? Smile

I am super excited to have my 12 week scan this Wednesday but also a little nervous which I am sure is normal.

I have suffered with tiredness and nausea which seemed to ease the last few weeks but now is back worse than ever. Has anyone else experience d this?

I'm told it should ease by week 16 so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Lots to get done before baby comes and I have no energy.

Anyone else got any scans soon.

Smile Just here to chat

Emma xx

Hi @EmmJJ1991 👋🏽 I also have my 12 week scan on Wednesday too! I’m really excited but also very nervous. It’s felt like a lifetime waiting for this scan, how I haven’t caved and had an early scan I’ll never know. Like you, I am also feeling the tiredness, I was falling asleep on the sofa at 8pm last night after sleeping in till 9am in the morning lol apart from that I haven’t had any other symptoms. Hopefully your symptoms will ease soon and you’ll feel more like getting the things done that you want to before baby is here 😊

ajw2022 · 24/01/2022 12:55

@EmmJJ1991
Hey Emma,
My nausea stopped at 9 weeks. I'm now 10+3. My energy levels seem to be much better too. Hoping the sickness doesn't come back!

Good luck for your scan 🥰 still waiting for my date to come through the post xx

EmmJJ1991 · 24/01/2022 13:41

@SantiagoSister omg that's so exiting you will have to let me know how you get on Smile

Lol I know im the same I get up at 5.30am for work everyday so even by 5pm I'm forcing myself to stay awake to eat!

They say you glow in your second trimester and feel much better so here's hoping. Xx

EmmJJ1991 · 24/01/2022 13:44

@ajw2022 I hope it doesn't come back for you and good to hear you have your energy back. I'm hoping mine will come soon lol 😂

Thank you 🥰 hope you get your date soon xx

SantiagoSister · 24/01/2022 14:04

Aw I will do @EmmJJ1991, please let us know how you get on too! 😊 wow 5:30am starts mixed with pregnancy tiredness doesn’t sound much fun 😂 here’s hoping the second trimester we get that energy back! Have you had any scans so far or will Wednesday be your first? Xx

Emms2022 · 24/01/2022 14:49

@CatsBooksAndRain

I'm exhausted too. Would normally be in the office but luckily have been working from home since 2021. This means if I need to sneak away and lie down on the sofa for 20 min, noone will notice. Still, my work is quite demanding and I can't really afford these interruptions. Should be able to work longer hours from time to time, but right now I'm struggling to stay awake throughout the minimum expected hours. Have to remind myself every morning that it's not the most important thing in my life right now but it's a quite a struggle.

Oh, I'd like an overview of all the acronyms used here too if there is one. Getting quite confused every now and then. 😅

Yes an overview of the acronyms if anyone has it? Lol I walked to post box and back thus morning, not even 10 minutes walk and was out if breath, I'm working v little and have totally cut down my hours X
Emms2022 · 24/01/2022 14:50

@miltonj

Had first scan today, baby fine, heard heartbeat and measuring 11 weeks 😊😊
Aw that's great news ♥️
Emms2022 · 24/01/2022 14:53

@Caslo

*@CatsBooksAndRain* I'll add a few here that I'm sure have been mentioned down-thread:

DH/DP - darling husband/partner
DPO - days past ovulation
MC - miscarriage
MMC - missed miscarriage
MP/LMP - menstrual period/last menstrual period
EPU - early pregnancy unit

Hope this helps x

Hahaha I was going to ask what DH was, darking husband made me laugh, is that supposed to be sarcastic as my DH is doing my head in, but I'm so in love when not pregnant, these hormones are killers! Thx that's lots of help X
Emms2022 · 24/01/2022 14:54

@CatsBooksAndRain

As my 12week scan us coming closer and I'll need to decide whether to test for those scary conditions (Down's, Edward's and Patau's), I'm wondering if you are all getting tested for these? Trying to understand if it happens often that women choose not to or is rather an exception?
Yeah, I'm going to get tested for everything, my dating scan is next Friday X

Exhaustion is killing me, I've my scan next Friday, I'll be 11 weeks as I went fir an early scan and they told me my proper date was 5 days less than I had anticipated, it seems like forever though when you're tired and you can't do much, good luck with the scan ♥️

Hope my energy levels come back at 10 + 2, other than that, I've no major issues with symptoms XX

Caslo · 24/01/2022 20:29

@EmmJJ1991 Hey, I'm 11 weeks today and have my scan next Monday so will be bang on 12 weeks. I'm a little nervous for it since I had a MC last year but I had a scan at 7+4 and saw a little heart beating away. I've also been listening to his/her heartbeat in the evenings for bonding Thanks I had two horrific days of nausea a fortnight ago but only had waves of nausea since. My tiredness seemed to be improving until today when I suddenly felt knackered even before my shift started! Also permanently bloated, not very regular and I get much more heartburn than when I'm not pregnant. As for our symptoms coming and going, I read that the transition from your hormones to the placenta taking over around this gestation can make you feel a bit rubbish so perhaps that's what it is and it'll improve once the placenta has fully established itself as chief baby-grower? Here's hoping anyway! x

EmmJJ1991 · 24/01/2022 20:37

@SantiagoSister the early morning are definitely challenging I used to moan about being tired before 😂 now I know what tired means.

I had a scan at around 7 weeks privately as I wanted to tell my very close family at Christmas time but wanted to check everything was looking normal. We heard the heartbeat which was amazing 😊 what about you have you had a scan yet?

Yes let's hope we get our energy back. Cutting back on caffine isn't helping lol xx

EmmJJ1991 · 24/01/2022 20:40

Aww @Emms2022 good luck for your scan too 😊

I feel you let's hope we start to get our energy back but suppose we shouldn't be too hard on ourselves as our bodies are going alot.

Will be glad when I get get just my day to day tasks sorted lol

Xx

That's about the height of it for me too, washing, dishes, keeping house tidy, shower and if it's a really good day, I'll manage to wash my hair lol I am feeling a bit sorry for myself to be fair, I'm used to being out and about, here, there and everywhere, let me know how the scan goes ♥️♥️ Emma XX
EmmJJ1991 · 24/01/2022 20:46

Hey @Caslo wishing you good luck with your scan on Monday and really sorry to hear about your MC ❤️

Aww that's an amazing idea 😊 sounds lovely to hear the heartbeat everyday!

I'm the same bloated all the time and really irregar! Some days I'm so bloated I look about 7 months pregnant 😂. The tiredness comes from nowhere doesn't it some days I'm nearly falling asleep at my desk 🙃

I am hoping your right about the placenta just as I though I got over the sickness it was back. But fingers crossed for improvement in next few weeks xx

SantiagoSister · 24/01/2022 20:49

@EmmJJ1991 oh definitely, pregnancy tired is something else 😂 aw that’s lovely, how nice to hear the little heartbeat in time for Christmas 🥰 I haven’t had any scans yet (I don’t know how I haven’t caved and booked an early scan!) so feeling extra nervous for Wednesday x

EmmJJ1991 · 24/01/2022 20:49

@Emms2022 I feel exactly the same I'm so used to being on top of everything and now I can't I get frustrated with myself and worry how I will get everything ready and sorted in time for the baby.

Yes let me know how your scan goes too. It's lovely to have someone to talk to who is going through the same thing ❤️ men just don't get it lol

Don't think too far ahead, as it's only going to be temporary, I know what you mean though, how am I going to look after a baby if I can hardly look after myself and the house, look relax and take each day at a time, I kinda told myself today, mumma, make the most of it cus this kind of rest won't be happening for a longggg long long time after baby is here lol have you sickness or just zapped of energy, I'm so relieved, touch wood, that I haven't got nausea, omg, both together would be absolutely crap! I swear my partner is thinking half the time, why doesn't she just get up and get at it, they've no idea, I would if I could, so glad to be speaking to you about it, total relief, definitely keep in touch on here ♥️♥️
