The last message I posted seems to have filled up the old thread so I thought I'd start a new one.

Since bump size was our last topic, I thought this might do for a thread title.

OP posts:

pyjamarama -welcome and pleased all the tests went well.

josie -rofl laughing re sophie.

gr1973 · 14/01/2008 22:11

hi pyjama, a few people recommended totsbots to me and I used 'thenappylady.co.uk' who do a tailored questionnaire and recommend a nappy system for you according to your needs. Its free and no obligation. The website also has loads of info about using cloth nappies.

Josie - dont think I'll hear the name sophie without thinking about someone peeing their pants!!!!

sophiewd · 14/01/2008 22:17

Shall I chnage my name soon then

ChinaSurprise · 14/01/2008 22:31

Oops! I like Sophie too. I have a whole host of blacklisted names but have now decided to wait till the 20 week scan and, like you deb, hopefully half the workload.
Pyjama - welcome and glad to hear you've had good news after what must have felt like an interminable wait.
Is anyone else having trouble peeing . I find I constantly need the loo but when I go it just trickles. Sorry if tmi, but it's been happening for the last couple of years and it's bugging me.

ChinaSurprise · 14/01/2008 22:40

Har har. I meant days, not years!

debinaustria · 15/01/2008 07:27

China - maybe baby is just lying awkwardly and your bladder isn;t able to fill up as normal. I was worried when I read years but I'd see how you get on over the next few days. I'm having to go to the loo more than normal but it's not trickling - that's only when I sneeze (just call me Sophie)

aberdeenhiker · 15/01/2008 07:52

Parofleurmapu - good luck with the scan today!

Deb - I'm laughing, but laughing with you. I had surprise sneeze the other day and all I could think was oh no! not this early in pregnancy!

We've got a list of blacklisted names, I blacklisted Colin which was DH's favourite but I can't get over the associations with one of my supervisors!

I read this site last night and had to rush away to get some food - I'm so suggestable and food sounds so good all the time these days!

Morning all,

Had a bit of a crappy evening. I went to a friends house yesterday afternoon and felt a strong braxton hicks whilst I was there and felt them on and off for the rest of the anfternoon. By the evening they were happeneing quite frequently and even dp could feel my belly tightening and I really worked myself up into a panic which only made it all worse. I called the labour ward and then went in and saw a really clam midwife which eased my fears and the contractions then stopped. The dr suggested a scan today and offered for me to stay overnight. I came home as I wanted to sleep and I knew if I was there I would feel more worried and make things worse. This morning all feels fine and I think I just had a couple of BH and worried which caused me to have more. I called the epu sister this moring to ask if I should come today as I have a scan tommorow but she told me to wait until tommorow as this morning all is fine but to call her if at al worried. The epu sister also asked if I over did it at all yesterday and I realised it's the busiest day I had in ages and was probably over the limit of what my body can cope with at the moment. I also asked about BH because I never had them in any other pregnancy and she said that as I've been pregnant a few times my uterus is more iirtable and I'm more sensitive to the feelings as I'm very worried. I really want the next 20 or even 14 will do to go fast!

goingfor3 · 15/01/2008 09:24

I don't like sneezing at the moment either!

ChinaSurprise · 15/01/2008 09:34

G43 Sorry you had such a scary evening - that must have been horrible. I suspect it was the stress and the panic which made it worse (although obvy not an expert).
When I had an early bleed and went into maternity ward at about 10 wks for a check I was so stressed my blood pressure was off the charts and my heart was racing at max. It's amazing what your body will do if you panic.
I do hope you feel better today and agree it's essential not to overdo it.
I was reading my "yoga in pgy" book this morning and it said how important it is not to work yourself to exhaustion. Maybe you just need a day or two off.
Sending hugs
China
PS. For those who really want to know, peeing is back to normal - guess you were right deb.

ktpie · 15/01/2008 12:41

gr1973 thanks for the cleangreennappy.co.uk website, just bought some from there, 20% off makes a lot of difference. Plus had a look and our council will give you £25 back if you spend £50 on reusable nappies so got the form to do that, hopefully will have moved to a different council before the baby is born which doesn't seem to do any incentives so going to get it sorted now. If any of you are getting reusables check with your council and see if they have any similar schemes.
Also if anyone is looking for maternity wear try the Dorothy Perkins sale, I keep getting tempted back in there but the maternity stuff seems like good value so stocking up when I can, got some nice cords yesterday for £7.

gr1973 · 15/01/2008 13:35

ktpie - glad that was useful for you. The 20% does make a big difference.

Sophie - I need to get over the peeing joke v soon as will be working with one soon! I do think its a nice name tho btw .

G43 - sorry you had a crappy evening and hope your feeling a bit better today.

goingfor3 · 15/01/2008 14:18

ktpie I don't know if it;s the same with your council but I had send in a birth certificate to get the money back, so you may not be able to claim from that council if you have moved before baby is born.

Feel fine now, I really thing I over did it yesterday. No more rushing around for me for a few months.

claphamkitten · 15/01/2008 14:25

Hello everyone,
Went to see midwife this morning, and she was lovely. And she's agreed to deliver our baby (she's the first sane, vaguely switched-on midwife we've met so far!) Heard baby's heartbeat which was just amazing. Is it just me, or does anyone else get a tear in their eye everytime they have a scan, hear baby's heartbeat etc...? It's just so incredible though... Must be the hormones! So all is well - roll on scan on 18th Feb (my local hospital have a 21 week policy rather than 20 weeks?!)

Still haven't felt any movements/kicks yet, but I know baby is moving around as the midwife said he/she was 'very active' when she was listening to the heartbeat... can't wait though...

China - I have had that same 'peeing' thing for the last week or so. Feel absolutely desperate to bursting sometimes, then when I go, just a trickle! Most annoying!

My cravings seem to have gone in cycles: all I wanted was carbs: bread, pasta and mash for the first 12 weeks, and as a result put on half a stone almost immediately! Thankfully now I seem to crave satsumas (which is not quite so calorific) and also the apple juice thing (must be something in it!) All most odd as hardly ever eat fruit normally. Still can't stomach the smell of cooked green veg though...

Being a complete technophobe, I have no idea how to add my due date to the ever-growing list, but mine is 26th June, if anyone could give me a hand...

Ax

ktpie · 15/01/2008 14:26

goingfor3 thanks for that, have just checked and it looks like I just have to send in the receipts. Hopefully will be OK!

ktpie · 15/01/2008 14:33

claphamkitten I went to the midwife last week and we heard the hearbeat, I was so nervous that she wouldn't find anything that I was holding my breath the whole time, you could hear my hearbeat as well and it was going really fast!
Can't wait for my next scan on the 30th Jan, not felt any movements yet so it will be nice to check everything is OK (although by then I hopefully will have felt it move!).

Josie57 · 15/01/2008 16:11

Lol with all of you who are having problems when sneezing, this time has been much worse for accidental leaks than last time - I really hope I don't get any colds during this pregnancy. Otherwise I don't think I will be able to go out! I guess this is payback for not doing my pelvic floor exercises - but have I learnt? Am I doing them this time? No I don't think so - despite putting up post its to remind me (yes I really have done this) I now just ignore the reminders. Only myself to blame I guess.

mellymell · 15/01/2008 16:22

Sorry to be disgusting but saw the sneezing issue and am so relieved others are having the same problem. I thought I had been so good about exercising my pelvic floor both last time and this time, but had a real bladder bursting sneezing cold over Christmas and had to time it that I was near a bathroom if I could feel a sneeze coming. Just couldn't believe it when it first happened and thought - oh, god, I'm going to be just like David Walliams in the LIttle Britain sketch in Tescos - yeuch.

PiggyPenguin · 15/01/2008 16:44

Ah, the wet-yourself sneezes! It causes great hilarity for dh when I sneeze as I have to physically cross my legs to be sure of not having an accident. The surprise ones are a bit of a nightmare though!!

Parofleurmapu · 15/01/2008 16:57

Hehe i do love it when we have these conversations!!! I too have to cross legs when sneeze or cough or sometimes even laughing too much can do it!!!

Back from scan and alls well, everything in its correct place and working well. Sonographer was nice and told us what he was measuring all the time. He said I'll measure first then explain. Suddenly he jumped up and rushed out df and I were left thinking errr what? Df looked at screen and machine and he had ticked what he had looked at, at the moment he ran out he was looking at the brain!!!! We had a good giggle but calmed down when he came back with his glasses!!!!! So fleurs brain is ok just not his eyes!!! hehe

So apple juice isnt just me then must be something in it.

Welcome pjamarama - glad alls well.
Going for 3 - if i over do it at school with kids sometimes i get really bad pains down there and belly tightens too not sure if BH or just overdoing things but i have started sitting and getting children to do things for me!!! They are such good helpers!

well off to study have examas every sat for next 6 weeks for uni!!! boo hoo oh well Bye for now

gr1973 · 15/01/2008 17:48

thanksfully I've not had the same sneezing experiences as everyone else, however, I am sneezing an awful lot?!? I keep thinking I'm going to come down with a cold.

Also feeling like a bad mum 2 be as no tear in my eye at scans/heartbeat etc. I'm also finding these new sensations in my stomach a bit alien instead of exciting. I'll get over it I'm sure.....

Good luck with studying paro - I had to defer some exams in October because I was feeling so ill in 1st trimester and I couldn't cope with full-time work and post-grad study at same time, but they are now in May and I just think I'll be way too knackered/pregnancy brain to sit them then but if I dont I have to do them in October. Aaaaaaarrrgggghhhhh!

Parofleurmapu · 15/01/2008 17:57

Gr1973

im going to try them now and can redo them in September depending on how baby is!!!

Next semester starts in March to June so will try and study then but exams will be in June July so deffo think will have to defer those to sept Cant imagine me sitting an exam about to pop!!!

Upsidedowncake · 15/01/2008 19:01

Glad I'm not the only one slightly lacking in bladder control ... now those coy ads with scary statistics make sense!

I pee if I cough. Very embarrassing.

Still absolutely exhausted.
