Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
northfeastmummy · 08/12/2007 19:27

Scampmum - I really feel for your SIL. It took me and my DH quite a while to fall pregnant with DD and if I'd had a miscarriage I would've been absolutely devastated. As it turned out, I had a miscarriage before this baby but I was in a much better place to cope with it. I really hope she (and your BIL) find some comfort either on MN or some other way.

northfeastmummy · 08/12/2007 19:29

Festivevillas - my LO is upside down too . When the sonographer told me she said there was plenty fluid around and so loads of room for baby to turn in plenty time. She said 34 weeks was when they'd check position again and only then does it become a concern if baby is still round the wrong way.

northfeastmummy · 08/12/2007 19:29

Oh, just noticed the festive smileys! Had to give it a go!!

scorpio1 · 08/12/2007 19:35

Scampmum - for your SIL, it must be terrible. i feel very lucky i have never gone through that horror. my sonographer at 12 weeks said that most women who have 3 live children have had at least one mc,and i was in a minority. all the women i know who have 3 have had at least one mc. apparently it is common with first pgs, something about a trial run for the uterus . Hope she gets well and pg soon (if thats what she wants).

ex-dp has backed off after an arguement this morning

i had nutritous stir fry for tea (Scorpioi doesnt tell MN about her new dark chocolate mint cholcolate orange)

TinyTimLivesinVictorianSqualor · 09/12/2007 11:39

Scorpio, you may have and not know, I'm still unsure to this dayabout when I was 16, a few days late, a positive test and a period a few days later, could possibly have been a m/c.
If not then I too am one of the rarity, (as long as this baby is fine)
I cried watching xfactor last night, the song same difference did was one I remember from when DD was in SCBU and I used to sing it all the time hoping she'd survive, then when sarah cried I couldnt stop myself!!!!

SantasGotABigFatEllieG · 09/12/2007 13:27

Yes, poor scampmum SIL - I had a MMC in March this year - knocked me for 6. I really feel for her.

i watched x-factor with DSD last night in bed cuddled up, which was nice. DP was out on the razzle so we had a girly night. Was lovely bonding time, but I have to say, I really HATE that programme. Am strictly a Strictly girl I think.

Woo-hoo! Christmas smilies!

SantasGotABigFatEllieG · 09/12/2007 13:28

But that is a very sweet story VS x

scorpio1 · 09/12/2007 16:16

If i have, im glad i don't know, iykwim? there are no funny times i can think of, apart from when i was ttc Millie and i had a 45 day cycle but i think that was antibiotics for tonsillitis. VS, i didn't know your dd had been in scbu obviously ok now though, eh

nasty horrid windy day today.

TinyTimLivesinVictorianSqualor · 09/12/2007 17:06

Yes, I understand scorpio, I'm glad I only have a 'maybe' rather than a loss to deal with tbh. DD was born at32 wks so was in SCBU for a month. She's fine and dandy now though, except fro wondering why her mum was crying at xfactor

scampmum · 09/12/2007 17:40

Scorpio, congrats! I knew once he remembered who he was facing he would think again and then back down. That's great news, what a relief. Now you just have a wedding to organise! I like the sound of that chocolate 'orange'.

Going to send flowers to S/BIL tomorrow as thought this weekend was a bit early (she didn't want to have a D&C after a scan told them the bad news but luckily (?) delivered quite quickly at home (i.e. within 24 hours - I know it can be much longer). Will also definitely be recommending Mumsnet if she's not on here already.

It was her first pg (they have been together since freshers' week - not sure either of them has ever been with anyone else!) so with any luck that trial-run theory will be correct and P (and her sib!) will get a little cousin sometime next year. Poor, poor things. Any other ideas of nice things we can do to help, past MCers? (like I say, my MC circs were pretty different, didn't even know I was pg).

natalies1982 · 09/12/2007 21:10

hope ur all doing ok ladies

SantasGotABigFatEllieG · 10/12/2007 09:12

Hi all

Sorry to hear Mathew has a cough natalie

scampmum - if you haven't already sent flowers to your SIL can I make a suggestion? My best friends sent me an orchid when I MC - they wanted me to have something beautiful that wouldn't die quickly (they didn't say that at time but I knew what they meant) and it really made me feel warmer every time I looked at it and thought how much my friends cared about me. It's still alive and rather lovely, and reminds me of my LO in bittersweet kind of way

ToastandMincePieAddict · 10/12/2007 09:21

Scampmum - advice for your SIL/BIL - I was just staggered to find out how nearly everyone I knew who had kids had also had a m/c - but it is just not talked about. It was only cos mine was so wierd (they thought it was ectopic so had to have laparoscopy, then they couldn't find anything, so put it down as a "pregnancy of unknown location". Great) that meant I had to have loads of time off work, that meant I had to go public really, then all my work friends started telling me how they had had mcs.

You just feel like there is something wrong with you, or that you did something wrong, and that you are in the minority, that everyone else has no problems at all getting pg and staying pg, and that is far from the truth.

Talking to friends, and reading MN really helped me through.

btw, that was my first pg after a year TTC, so was a real kick in the teeth. But am now pg again took another 3 months.

SantasGotABigFatEllieG · 10/12/2007 09:25

Agree TA - hearing people talk about MC helped me as I stopped feeling like such a weirdo. It was only when I had one that about 3 ladies in the office told me how they had too - que communal crying session on wine-filled night out!. MN was my life-saver though - it was only here that people really seemed to understand how rocked to the core I felt. Twas brilliant.

ToastandMincePieAddict · 10/12/2007 09:26

Ellie that is so sweet about the orchid

Must be hormones, but made me well-up

SantasGotABigFatEllieG · 10/12/2007 09:31

You big ol' softy toast
Am a bit like that myself though this morning - keep feeling kicks now from elliebean and so happy - but when I think about my little lost one I feel a bit sad I never felt her/him. But he is happy wherever he is - my Mum is a vicar and she firmly beleives that LO is up with the angels - I like to think so too.

Anyway! Must do some work before start blubbing at my desk

scampmum · 10/12/2007 09:57

Thanks, guys - orchid is a lovely idea.

I am really weepy today as well - Toast and Ellie, you both just made me well up! DH's station he designed opens today and I cried in the car on the way to nursery (I had to drop DD off as he is S-T-R-E-S-S-E-D) because they were discussing it on BBC London radio!

Blushing Santa makes me think of Bad Santa with Billy Bob Thornton - anyone seen it?

SantasNotSoLittleHelper · 10/12/2007 10:03

No, toast I was Soph73 Morning all, just reading through all your messages. Had a great couple of days off. DS1s concert is on Thurs & DH is petrified cos Wed is his first appointment at dentists. Hey ho. Am now feeling proper movements

SantasGotABigFatEllieG · 10/12/2007 10:06

Have not seen that but heard it's good.

Nice to start feeling proper kicks and wriggles isn't it? I am loving it - feels like the LO is playing.

scampmum · 10/12/2007 10:22

It's really funny (definitely NOT suitable for little ones!) - good antidote for those rare moments when the whole Christmas thing gets a bit too Coca-Cola advert...

I am loving the kicks, too. It's quite soon (IIRC) that we get those flumphf feelings of full 180s, too.

northfeastmummy · 10/12/2007 11:08

Good morning everyone! I'm feeling lots of movements too - baby took my breath away yesterday with a big kick. What a surprise I got!

Ellie/Scamp - I think the orchid idea is just lovely. I was going to say, it's hard to know what the right "thing" is and I'm sure whatever you do, just knowing that someone cares so much will be enough for your S&BIL. I also agree about knowing how often MC's happen being a help - and that they happen for a reason. The biggest help for me was being able to rationalise everything and move on from it.

Well, there are a whole bunch of changes going on at my work at the moment and my boss told me this morning that her boss - who is currently working out our new structure - was asking how long I was taking on maternity leave. I hope she's not thinking about using that as a factor in deciding where I end up in the new organisation! Thing is, she's based in the US so I don't even know how up on UK maternity law she is. It's completely different in the US.

had to update our list, 20 week scan last thursday (scampmum I know exactly how you feel, after the first scan I was told that ds risk was 1:65 because of weird hormon level. was 28 back then too... ) everything seems to be ok but have to go back on dec 19 for another scan as beany was too close to the placenta for the spine and heart to be checked.
also it's not eva07, 28,... anymore
anyone interested in a piece of sacher or linzer torte?

peachy: be warned, I'm going to CAT you, I will be in cardiff from dec. 22 to jan. 04.

SantasNotSoLittleHelper · 10/12/2007 11:44
