Morning peeps!

Have tried to catch up on the thread..but have given up have read through everything, but my notes were giving me headache!
My day off yesturday was not that relaxing! I had a computer guy come round at 10 to finally get me back up and running from home yayyy! , then I had midwife appt at 12...head still down but not engaged yet, BP was fine..babybels HB was around 145...I asked about raspberry leaf tea,and was told ok from 28 weeks? She has now booekd the home visit for 2 weeks time, where she will do next ante natal check up and leave her bag of tricks!
I then had to come back up to london for my Best mates birthday lunch.....then had ante natal from 8-10! Im knackered! Ante natal was good, all about pain relief last night, very interesting. I have AN all day tom too! Really pleased though as I have made 2 good friends there already and have quite a laugh.
I have hlaf day today as its thanksgiving and im out to lunch! yayyyy!!
NAethta i start at 7 every day...wont be sorry to miss that!

Katy1 Im getting pain in my pubic bone and pelvis too..mentioned it to the midwife yest and she said its natural, but keep an eye on it if it gets much worse xx

Nicky6 - I have been getting loads of braxton hicks too...!

Hi- to everyone......

Oh forgot to say had massive nose bleed yest!! Wasnt good..took me about 20 mins to stop the blleding then had about a 3 inch clot come down from my nose sorry if youre eating brekkie! Midwife said its normal again for pegnancy!

LuckySalem, what a horrible situation to be in. LIke some of the others here I think that your mother's motives may be a little more complicated than they seem. Maybe she finds it hard to see how many choices you have now, and how in control you are. Maybe she is worried that she is not needed and that the special place she has pictured for herself by your side is being snatched away. But that is her problem and the stress she is causing you is bad for you and very unfair. Devon Maternity Services have done the maths, £650 for a home birth with two midwifes, £850 for a standard no intervention hospital birth, off the scales for caesareans etc. And the cost of an ambulance? With people calling an ambulance for a grown in toe nail and A&E full of binge drinkers that is the least of your worries.

Ooops, rant over .

Don'thave much left to do at work, have handed over my team to my locum, but he is off for a few days now, his poor wife has miscarried and they ahve been trying for ages. And now one team member is playing silly buggers. Phoned up to say she is not too well and can she have annual leave as she is worried about her sick record. It's not the first time she has done that so I made her come in. She practically hung up on me. She is not here yet, but has called another member of staff to complain that she has family problems. She is an adult FGS, why can't she talk to me.

Oh no, another rant, what is up with me today!

susiemj · 22/11/2007 10:55

Umm good point Madmouse - about Lucky's mum imagining the situation. My mum certainly does this. When I announced my engagement, her first reaction was to tell me exactly what dress, flowers, hairstyle etc I should have!

She is also totally freaked by the amount of antenatal care we now get and has accused me of being overly worried for keeping a routine midwife's appointment. I have to explain patiently again and again what standard care is nowadays. She thought I was hysterical when I went for the routine scans!

Luckily a woman down the road from her has just had a baby, and naturally my mum believes what she says where she won't believe me so she's a bit more forgiving now!

Sorry - don't mean to hijack Lucky. Just thought mamdmouse made good points.

beller · 22/11/2007 11:07

Lucky - I think you should stand your ground...hard i know....but like its been said..its your experience......(((((Lucky)))))) feel for you xx

mixedmama · 22/11/2007 11:29

Morning all...

I rolled in at 11 this morning (meant to be here 10.30) but just couldnt get motivated this morning.

I am quite shocked to hear all your mum stories, my mum is amazing. I am not sure how involved she woudl want to be but she is very good at being available and letting me decide when I need her. She is also very good at saying what she thinks and then letting me makke my decision. My dad less so but I dont know what I would do without them. Really feel for you ladies.

My sleepless nights are back and am generally having 2-3 loo breaks a night, one at bloody 1.30 and then about 3-4 and then about 5.

Anyway hellooooo to everyone.

Some mums are like that, mixedmama! Your mum sounds lovely. My mum actually said to my father the other day (they are divorced) that she didn't 'intentionally mean us (her children) any harm'. What a great thing to be able to say as a mother! She just can't help herself .

madmouse · 22/11/2007 11:53

I find it really strange to read about mothers. Mine died 10 years ago and my step mum and mum in law are lovely, but they are both back in Holland, so no interference there. Plus my husband is an only child and my mum-in-law readily acknowledges that 40 years is a long time in terms of how things change (she loved the scan pictures we sent her) and my step-mum has never managed to have children herself (I am delighted to make her a granny )so I really on friends and Mumsnet of course to get all my knowledge and support!

madmouse · 22/11/2007 11:54

I meant rely not really...typing??

mixedmama · 22/11/2007 11:57

susie - at least she acknowledges that she does at times cause harm.... that is something (small, but something).

OP posts:
susiemj · 22/11/2007 11:59

Yes MM. I was quite surprised. She's never acknowledged it before. I take it as hopeful. I think it might be because usually, when she freaks at me, I'm very calm. Last time, being ill and pregnant, I flipped out at her. I think it might have done some good!

Amani · 22/11/2007 13:57

what's happening today? really quiet on this thread....

fluffymummy · 22/11/2007 14:14

Hi everyone ...think I need a [cold emoticon], something snotty and headachey perhaps?!

Anyway, far too bunged up and grumpy and feeling-sorry-for-myself to submit much today...but gosh, it is quiet, isn't it?!

MixedMama - I think our body clocks are exactly in synch!! I'm also back to 1.30, 3, and 5 (or 2-ish, 4-ish and 6-ish, if I go to bed late enough!) which is sooooo annoying as I was really enjoying the last few weeks where its mostly been 3/4am and 7.30am!! Oh dear, maybe that was a case of TMI??

Hope everyone is ok?

Susie and Lucky - don't let your mums wind you up...that's what they're supposed to do, don't forget

Kisses to all

madmouse · 22/11/2007 14:16

Amani, glad to see you, thought I was all on my own here, and I am so bored I am relying on you lot for entertainment. Have been too efficient and run out of things to do . Tomorrow will be ok as I will be helping at another office that is without management and next week (my last one) is full of meetings and lunches. Actually eating McD nuggets and chips at the mo. Never normally fancy that, but need to go out tonight and supper will be a sarnie on the train.

madmouse · 22/11/2007 14:17

Hi fluffy, cross post!

gingeme · 22/11/2007 14:21

Hi everyone. Yes I think susiemj is right maybe your Mum is a little jelous. I think sometimes Mums forget they had their children over 40 and 37 years ago and boy has it changed.
I had a terrible night sleep what with my bloody step son goignt o his friends and not coming back all night not letting us know plus my hips were realy aching plus 3 loo visits last niht plus heartburn. Ill be glad when this baby arrives so I can get some sleep. Yes I do mean that co sleeping rocks
babys been doing gymnastics today. I think he likes our new car. I just hope my waters dont break in the car on the way to the hospital
Took it through the car wash today my two boys were quite fascinated by the whole experience.

Amani · 22/11/2007 14:58

I'm so bored at work as I have handed over most things to maternity cover, but am still here until next Wednesday.

It's that bad, that i am eating out of boredom rather than becuase I'm hungry.....

...oohhh.. where's my food pal Awen gone?

mixedmama · 22/11/2007 15:06

Second the boredom of today altho have no useful suggestions on how to make the day more interesting.
