@PurplePansy05 @Whatshouldbemyusername I think I have felt a few small movements since this morning so I have calmed down slightly and OH has said he will sort tea when we get home after work so he's told me to sit down and stay still and chill out and feel them move. Will ring MW later if not much change x

PurplePansy05 · 27/04/2021 12:06

That's good @lucyrp, keep pausing and calming down whenever you can, it helps with spotting the movements I find. xx

Ready2020 · 27/04/2021 12:18

I swear we are cursed with this house move. We've now been told that work previously done in the house we are selling didn't get proper planning papers. This was way back in 2006. So we're going to have to resubmit the application. For work in a house done 15 years ago when we've only lived in it a year plus it's been sold between that time as well. Stress!!!

Daffodil21 · 27/04/2021 12:28

@Ready2020 I'm afraid I don't have much experience with retrospective planning, but with our last house we had the same issue with building regs. We didn't get retrospective building regs approval, instead we took out indemnity insurance to cover it. It didn't put us off as buyers and it didn't put the people off who bought it from us either. I think it cost something like £120? That was the house we sold in England though so it might be slightly different here, but might be worth looking into?

PurplePansy05 · 27/04/2021 12:47

Also I just had my MW appointment and she helpfully told me if I'm struggling with my hip it's ok to sleep with a pillow wedged under the bum, leaning to the left but not fully on your side, or on your back but make sure you're not flat, so propped up like on a hospital bed.

Regarding movements she advised to start watching now and hopefully there should be a pattern by 26 weeks. She said if you feel he's moving less from then onwards, and if you had a normal or quiet day, then ring OAU straight away. If you had a busy day, try a sugary cold drink and lying on left side for half an hour because you may have missed some movements. But generally, she said do not postpone, even if in the middle of the night.

I have also submitted my MATB1 and requested maternity leave, wooo! 70 working days left 🥳🥳🥳 xx

Smurf123 · 27/04/2021 12:55

I had a consultant appt today and forgot to ask about maternity certificate as I should have submitted it to work last week 🙈
Baby seems to be growing fine. Had a very quick scan for growth and she let me hear heartbeat which she said all sounded good although I noticed she's written it was 110bpm which is lower than last time when it was 123bpm. She would have said if it was outside normal range right?
So I have another midwife appt in 2 weeks and consultant again in 4..
@lucyrp how many weeks are you again? I phoned at 24 weeks as if had a quiet day and was told 1 movement in the day was fine at that stage which didn't overally reassure me but then a few hours later I did feel more movements. But phone if you are at all worried!

LyraShaeLilly · 27/04/2021 12:57

Oooh working days left is a good way of looking at it I have 9 weeks including this one but thats 32 working days for me and 11 of them WFH - sounds much better that way.

Interesting about movement I am feeling her everyday but in no pattern, I did wonder at what stage to start tracking as my notes say 32 weeks but thats sooo late!! 26 weeks sounds much more reasonable!!

lucyrp · 27/04/2021 12:58

@PurplePansy05 I think they might have moved to a different place in my belly as the last few days have been really active and big kicks but today and yesterdag they've just been gurgly feelings or really gentle movements.

@Smurf123 I was 24 weeks yesterday! I'm hoping after work when I relax il get some proper kicks, I may even have a bath to try and get them to relax

biscuitcat · 27/04/2021 13:09

@Ready2020 oh what a pain! We had some work that the previous owners of our old house had done which didn't have planning and we were also able to get round it with indemnity insurance, really inconvenient though

@PurplePansy05 oh no you've just reminded me what I forgot to ask at my 25 week appointment this morning - need to work out who to phone about my MATB1 now!!

Ready2020 · 27/04/2021 13:18

@PurplePansy05 @biscuitcat yes that insurance was mentioned so I really hope that covers it. We just want out of this stress house.

I've been having opposite problems (well it's not a problem at all) in that I had to Google can a baby move too much in the womb. This was about 6am this morning when she had been very active before bed and still going at 6am. I was worried that my stress was making her flip about or in eating too much sugar and she's going crazy high on sugar.

I have a diabetes test (routine) in a couple of weeks so maybe I'm stressing about my sugar intake because of that.

@Aaaaa1519 welcome and can't help you with your symptoms I'm afraid. I get itchy legs sometimes but I think it's more to do with heat.

PurplePansy05 · 27/04/2021 13:20

I think it will be your MW re MATB1, girls xx

Ready2020 · 27/04/2021 16:33

On the whole cheeky wipes thing, do people think it would be a faff? I really like the idea of them but my sister with 3 boys says the last thing I'd want to do is wash wipes as well. She also said in the first month disposal nappies are the way to go as they poop a lot but after that reusable ones are good.

Millymay13 · 27/04/2021 16:46

@Ready2020 I’ve ordered a set of the wipes and the breast pads. I figure if I can’t cope with suing the wipes for cleaning up between nappies I can always use them for wiping down baby/floor/walls when we move onto weaning!

I like the idea of reusable nappies but have decided not to try them until we’re past the newborn stage. Then I’ll think about if I can deal with the faff and extra washing involved!

BertieBotts · 27/04/2021 16:53

I don't use reusable wipes but I would imagine they are no problem to wash, just like you wash face cloths etc - just chuck them in with a normal load, they aren't big and don't particularly need to be as absorbent as nappies so don't need washing separately to avoid fabric conditioner or anything.

alittlexmasmagic · 27/04/2021 17:07

@Ready2020 Im a total CheekyWipe convert. It seems like a faff having to wash them but compared to disposable wipes smearing poo everywhere, they're fab! Disposables are handy for out & about but I don't plan on going back to them any time soon x

Ready2020 · 27/04/2021 17:17

The OH didn't seem convinced but screw it I'm going to get some. He wasn't convinced at my eco friendly sponges either but seems ok with them now.

lucyrp · 27/04/2021 17:23

My best friend used cheeky wipes and recommended them to me. She's a total reusable nappy mum and hats off to her. I tried it last time as we get a grant from our local council for £100 for them but I just couldn't get on with them. That and the fact clothing had to be much bigger to accommodate the huge nappies.

wimbler · 27/04/2021 17:26

@Ready2020 I love cheeky wipes! Washing them is obviously more admin than using disposable but honestly once you get used to it it's really no bother. With a newborn you will get through more wipes than I do now she's aged 2 but one wipe does the work of 2/3 disposable wipes. They're seriously good at getting poo off!!

I just chuck them in a wash on their own or with other towels/kitchen cloths as they need washing at 60+ deg. I have the kit with the clean and mucky box. the mucky box has a net bag liner so you lift the whole lot out, let the soaking water drain either down the loo or sink and put in the machine. I bleach the kitchen sink afterwards but that's a weekly job anyway and I coincide it with the wipe wash

I have separate sets for bum and face. the face ones I just run under the tap when i use them then throw them straight in the machine and they get washed with the next load of normal washing.

I realise that sounds like a faff but honestly, the whole putting them in the wash part takes 3 mins max!

PurplePansy05 · 27/04/2021 18:31

I've been using reusable cloths for make up removal and cleaning my face for years. Hands down the best thing ever, I've tried and tested and the effect is exactly the same as all the expensive cosmetics, micellar water etc. I used to go through litres of micellar water (love the stuff) but it's so expensive. Now my routine costs me barely anything and I can treat myself to a better moisturiser!

So when you recommended Cheeky Wipes on here, I bought them the next day, they're ready for the baby. Really hope this works out!

Much like many of you, I will be using disposable nappies to begin with and when we're out, but I'm not ruling out switching to reusable ones in few months' time. How many are actually needed, do you think? I'm also guessing I'd have to buy them in all different sizes? xx

PurplePansy05 · 27/04/2021 18:33

Also @Daffodil21 my Aveeno arrived today and it's helping me so much! Thanks again for your recommendation, big thumbs up! 😘 xx

PurplePansy05 · 27/04/2021 18:38

@lucyrp Are you based Swansea way? I've just looked up and Swansea and Powys do indeed pay £100 or up to £100, but Cardiff pays nothing! Madness they haven't introduced a similar scheme xx

lucyrp · 27/04/2021 18:40

@PurplePansy05 more near brecon way! Still not far from yourself xx

PurplePansy05 · 27/04/2021 18:42

Ah I love it there! Lucky you 😊 Beautiful place. How are the movements? xx

PurplePansy05 · 27/04/2021 18:43

Sorry the above was to @lucyrp forgot to add 🤦🏼‍♀️ xx

Daffodil21 · 27/04/2021 18:43
