Nice bump @Jessicapebbles!
Welcome back @Angelesque, sorry you’ve had a bumpy journey here.

@PurplePansy05 Fresh air, Sunshine & Friends make so much difference don’t they? I’m excited as I have a walk planned after work tomorrow with a friend I’ve not seen for ages.

I’ve definitely got disturbed sleep/ preganancy brain. Woke up in middle of the night, literally jumped out of bed convinced I could smell burning. Came back to bed after checking everywhere, and told OH I could no longer smell it and it must be a random pregnancy symptom, as it has happened a couple of times but not so bad. This morning my OH kindly said, you know we had a bbq yesterday & have been using the Chiminea, well your hair’s grown in lockdown and you’re sleeping on it, so I think you’re waking up to the smoky smell in your hair as you’ve been more sensitive to smell... I’m such a muppet!!

For the GTT if it's not a fasting one, eat breakfast but nothing too sugary as it can throw off the result.

It doesn't taste too good but it didn't make me sick. Just try and neck it as fast as possible! And bring water to take the taste away afterwards. Bring a book or charged phone with some games on it in case your Internet connection is poor.

PurplePansy05 · 25/04/2021 11:07

Is everyone tested for GD in pregnancy? When does this usually happen? I have my MW 25 week appt next week and trying to note what to ask her about. It's not a long list, but blimey my memory is so bad now, I'm not with it!

Also any advice re eczema? I seem to have developed it randomly on the side of my neck, I never really suffered from it before and certainly not there!

I am glad some of you are catching up with friends and having a bit of me time now as well, both are good for the soul. Make the most of it definitely, you'll feel sooo much better 😊🥰 We are planning a couple of BBQs and pizza evenings in the garden visiting friends as soon as the house situation gets sorted. And my haidresser visit is coming up next month, last one before my son arrives. With my long, thick hair, I'll be avoding long visits lasting hours in the summer, just too hot and uncomfortable!

It's so nice to have some normality, I only now realise how much stress these covid restrictions were actually adding to my daily life! xx

BertieBotts · 25/04/2021 11:13

In Germany yes. In the UK only if you have risk factors I believe.

HopefulB · 25/04/2021 11:25

@PurplePansy05, I think screening for GD is based on risk factors rather than routine on NHS. Usually things like high BMI, BAME origin, previous hx, family hx etc, I’m sure there will be a list somewhere on nhs site.

Re eczema, lots of emollient! Aveeno is really well accepted by most people (not too greasy unlike some options), also consider what soaps you’re using, many emollients can be used in the shower, or Oilatum make specific bath/shower products. Creams can be expensive for how much/how frequently you should use them, so may be worth asking for a prescription if a big 500g pump back of Aveeno/whichever product you work out suits you.

@Daffodil21 the doctor had requested it on the form for my bloods but the nurse double checked because she said they don't do them hardly anymore and because I was so sick she said it probably wasn't a good idea as i would just throw it back up straight away 🙈

@LaceyMermaid this was supposed to be the drink one but then they changed their minds

@PurplePansy05 I suffer with eczema and since being pregnant my skin is much drier. I have just been using my sons child's farm baby moisturiser and lots of people recommended it for eczema !

lucyrp · 25/04/2021 12:02

How many nappies would you ladies say you are going to buy before baby is born if you're using disposables ?

Angelesque · 25/04/2021 12:11
@Angelesque yours is the same day as mine Smile is yours an early one or do you have to wait? Mind's at 8:30 which I'm glad about!
Mine’s 9am - I’m glad too! Nice to know someone else is doing it at the same time 😊

Angelesque · 25/04/2021 12:15

@HopefulB yep, I was referred for GTT as the consultant said being 5’2” and having a 9lb9 1st baby with difficult birth might have been undiagnosed GD.

@LaceyMermaid glad it wasn’t too bad for you! Boring I can do...

BertieBotts · 25/04/2021 13:16

I'll probably get a few packs of size 2. I seem to remember DS2 was fine in those straight away. You might want to get a pack or two of size 1 but I wouldn't recommend getting loads in case they're too small.

You can always send people out for more or get some in with your supermarket shopping so no need to stock up massively unless there's a baby event or something. What it can be worth doing is getting a few different brands to try out as all babies are different shapes. Some of the branded ones like Pampers offer trial packs you can sign up for on their websites as well which is worth doing if you don't mind all the marketing.

lucyrp · 25/04/2021 13:25

@BertieBotts DS was in size 1 for a number of weeks if I remember rightly so I have 4 packs of size 1 from aldi as they only cost me £4 for 96 nappies. I remember I had to swap and change between pampers and Aldi's through the different sizes as his shape changed. I think he was in the stretchy ones by size 3

LaceyMermaid · 25/04/2021 13:34

@PurplePansy05 no I only have it due to previous big babies along with growth scans. Think it only is done of you tick off certain risks on their form. To be honest I think I just have big babies! And the growth scans was 3lb out in my last pregnancy too so wouldn’t listen too much to that either!
@lucyrp will have to ask if I’m having the drink one or not as that'll mean a lot more time off work!
I can’t remember anything about nappy size I had at all! It’s been 13 years since my last baby and 18 since my first! I’ll probably get a pack of size 1 and see how we go. I’m hoping I’ll be up and out straight away like I was with my 3 other dc but maybe now I’m older I won’t!

PurplePansy05 · 25/04/2021 14:23

Thanks all!

@Daffodil21 I ordered that Aveeno, it was on sale on Amazon. I like their stuff so thanks for this. I have an ointment which is helping a bit, but it's been a while and it seems to flare up as it gets warmer and with me sleeping on my side. Hopefully it will calm down soon.

I had an energy boost and mowed the lawn and cleaned my car. Definitely chilling out for the rest of the afternoon now though.

If any of you are planning to claim the Mum to Be pack from the Bounty app, I had a free pack of nappies, a lovely outfit for a newborn and some samples in it. Mind you it took 3 attempts to get it, big Boots and Tesco had none so I ventured out to Asda and to be fair, for a freebie I'm very pleased with it! Every little helps 😊 xx

BertieBotts · 25/04/2021 16:26

All I mean is if you have a couple of packs that will do for the first few days and you can always get more if size 1 is right :) But if you stock up 10-20 packs of size 1 and they are in size 2 within a week then it ends up being a waste unless you can be arsed to return them.

Daffodil21 · 25/04/2021 17:44

@PurplePansy05 cleaning the car AND mowing the lawn?! Good going! I've done lots of planting this afternoon so nice and chilled. Hopefully they'll actually grow!

I did get the bounty pack but I got it before they upgraded it so it wasn't very good!

PurplePansy05 · 25/04/2021 18:01

Haha, thanks Daff 😊 Don't know where this enthusiasm came from 😂 I also cooked for 2 days! Off to eat cake now.

Saw this on Bounty's insta today and it made me smile. Exciting times 😊 xx

Whatshouldbemyusername · 25/04/2021 19:09

Hello ladies

Hope everyone's weekend going well.

For those with anterior placenta have you felt movement? I've been feeling some last week but I hit week 23 today and boy has bubba been active! My husband was lucky to feel it too and he tried to talk to baby and it would kick more 🥲🥲🥲🥲

I also have my GTT test on 7th May so I can let all of you know how that went. It's fasting for me and it's at 8:10 in the morning. My new manager is a star. He's let me take the whole day off under antenatal appointments! I'm going with my book though as I plan on sitting there till I'm seen by a MW too considering they're not seeing me for 25 week scan 🙄

Also is anyone getting a cot bed from the start?x

LyraShaeLilly · 25/04/2021 19:53

I have my GTT on the 18th May, was told to bring a book so will be given the drink I think, and was told to fast.

We have a cot bed, but wont be used until 6months and will be used as a cot bed only when last child is old enough for a cot bed. This is because nursery is currently i the smallest room so cot will stay in there until it's not needed. so really we could have saved some money and bought a normal cot?

Glad you've all had a love weekend, we went out for lunch yesterday and then had a little gender reveal in the garden at my Mums!! Was so lovely.

Smallbean27 · 25/04/2021 20:26

@Whatshouldbemyusername
How exciting! Its great when you feel them isn't it. I am 23 weeks too, been feeling them more often now but difficult to feel on the outside. I have an anterior placenta too, so I guess thats probably why. X

Whatshouldbemyusername · 25/04/2021 21:16

@LyraShaeLilly aaaw gender reveals are fun! What are you having? 💙 or 💖 x

I want to get a cot bed and will keep that in our room and then move it to the nursery after 6 months. I know a lot of mums are getting the bedside cribs and wanted to see mums experience with cot bed. I'm looking at the tutti bambini Modena at the moment as a good option..

@Smallbean27 aaaaw yes it probably that's why. We're definitely late to the game but I feel like it's been so worth it ❤️x

alittlexmasmagic · 25/04/2021 22:10

My DS was anterior and I didn't feel anything until around 22/23 weeks. He was positioned head down at my 20wk scan. I'm also anterior this time but baby was lying across so I've felt a lot more since just before 20wks. There's nothing like a continual assault to your bladder and cervix to make you feel reassured 😂 x

Millymay13 · 25/04/2021 22:57

Hi everyone, had the second half of our 20 week scan today after baby being in an awkward position when they tried last time. We’ve been referred to fetal medicine because baby’s femurs are on the 7th centile. I know it’s more than likely to be because I’m short, but I do feel unsettled by it. I’m also trying to look at the positive that we might get another/more scans but still now I’m feeling a bit less relaxed than I was. Hopefully the investigations will just show we’ve got a little (but not too little) baby 🤞🏻

LyraShaeLilly · 26/04/2021 07:44

We are having a Girl 💖.

lucyrp · 26/04/2021 08:08

Feeling accomplished after a day off yesterday mowing the lawn, assembling our garden shed and painting the fence. Garden just looks so much better, got a couple of fence panels left to do and need to organise the shed a bit better and move more stuff from under the stairs to the shed. Pressure washing of the slabs will commence this weekend 😴 worn out
