Had a terrible sleep last night- so much tossing and turning. 😭 but I am going the zoo today with DH and DS who is going to absolutely love it so very excited to get out and about and do something normal.

Hope it’s sunny where you all are. Also in terms of NCT classes, I never did it with my first but don’t think I would be happy doing it online either. However I did do a yoga type breathing relaxation thing. 😂 it was good actually, a mixture of breathing exercises and learning about pain relief etc. I’m pretty sure the lady who did it is going it in person again so maybe there’s something like that around where you are?

HopefulB · 24/04/2021 07:50

@Inmypjsagain, sorry you’re feeling rough.

You’d ideally have more than 2L of water a day - especially if still vomiting so you could try increasing that. A lot of laxatives need good fluid intake in order to work. Can you fit in any dried fruit snacks?

Are you up to a gentle walk or swim? Exercise is also good for getting things moving.

Fresh pineapple is good for cleansing the mouth.

@Inmypjsagain, just remembered this recipe, I would have lived on ginger cookies if I could in first trimester!
These sneak fibre in through the dates as almonds.

Anyone looking for nursery decorations without wallpaper check out Amazon reusable wall stickers there's some lovely one. They aren't that expensive and easy to change theme when needed. We have curious george ones in ds room

Daffodil21 · 24/04/2021 09:44

@Inmypjsagain that sounds awful! I'm afraid I have no tips, but have you tried eating bran flakes with yoghurt and a bit of honey instead of milk? I personally love them like this!

@Dia12 haven't noticed a spurt really, my bump has been fairly prominent for a while now! But I do feel like it's more bump and not bloat now!

Going to get my hair cut today 🎉🎉 happy Saturday everyone!

Daffodil21 · 24/04/2021 09:52

Also those of you looking at wallpapers - I'm not sure of their current range but it's worth looking at B&Q - we got a 'paste the wall' safari paper and it was sooo easy to put up and the quality is really nice. I think it was something silly like £8 a roll!

This is the paper we have in our spare room/future nursery

@Dia12 @LottSE20 yay!!! 🦁

@PurplePansy05 thanks for the tip my darling. Fortunately (maybe unfortunately on this occasion) am on no social media so can't check that out. I do love my Etsy though. Loads of stuff there! Have a good weekend dear. Enjoy the sun x

@Inmypjsagain I'm sorry you're feeling this way. Maybe try have weetabix as a snack too with plant based milk. That may help x

Also yes I hate wallpaper and @Smurf123 I'm
Going to do the stickers too. I've seen great ones on Amazon and Etsy - thanks x

@Daffodil21 that is gorgeous wallpaper! It's just I'm renting so don't want to cover the walls with paper (plus am not too keen on wallpaper) but that does sound like a bargain! Enjoy your haircut. Pamper yourself x

I'm gonna do 30 minutes exercise today. Since my leg cramp yesterday I've got this full pain in my calf and when I sit/sleep and get up I am limping!

Oh also - I took Gaviscon finally last night and it didn't help completely but definitely helped somewhat with the acidity.

Have a good weekend all ❤️

Daffodil21 · 24/04/2021 13:44

Thanks @Whatshouldbemyusername - just got the old 'are you sure there's just one in there?' from my hair dresser 🙈 I do feel a lot lighter now I've had a hair cut though 😂

biscuitcat · 24/04/2021 18:06

Hope everyone's having a lovely weekend in the sun - had to get the factor 50 out today, and still a bit red! We went on a walk to the pub which involves climbing over a fairly high stile, I felt my hip pop as I went 😬 it was very sore! Hoping that it settles down soon, and might treat myself to a long bath to help heal it!

I also shaved my legs and bikini area yesterday for the first time since my bump has really popped out, over the last week or so - it's harder than I thought it would be! Had to go back in to top up bits I missed!

We had a lovely trip today too, to the baby shop to try out seats and prams (and thank you @BertieBotts for the tip about going to an independent, they were brilliant). We've gone for the Cybex Cloud Z and the Uppababy Vista V2, which I adored. We were originally thinking of starting out with the second hand one we have and seeing how it went but I had a play yesterday with collapsing and setting it up and it's so so stiff that it was taking me well over a minute to do and really hurting my thumbs to push the levers, even after some WD40, so it feels like the right choice - I can't imagine having something that inconvenient when baby arrives

PurplePansy05 · 24/04/2021 20:33

Aw @biscuitcat as you know we were deliberating exactly the same pram & car seat, great choices IMO & we loved them too. It was down to the size of my hall and boot ultimately that we went with Cruz V2. They're such good quality, aren't they. Glad you're buying a new buggy, that's what you wanted really isn't it, and there's no point in struggling with the old one if it's that stiff.

I had a lovely day with an unexpected visit from our friends and their little boy, and then my other friend. We went for a long walk, 12.5k steps, lots of sunshine. I am pooped! Baby very active now too. I'm just watching a bit of Netflix and off to bed soon. What s lovely day, exactly what I needed to de-stress. I now realise how much I've missed catching up with my friends! xx

PurplePansy05 · 24/04/2021 20:35

@Whatshouldbemyusername I bought so much from Etsy over the years! Love it too. Although sadly I am finding it's far more limited now after Brexit if you want to avoid paying extra charges 🙄 xx

Jessicapebbles · 24/04/2021 21:13

Hi everyone! I’ve just caught up on about 7 pages as I won’t lie, I totally forgot about the group haha! I’ve been so busy and it was my birthday yesterday so I’ve been seeing some family.

Glad to hear everyone is doing well but rubbish about different nhs experiences and the nct classes being online! I didn’t do nct with my first so I’ve not really thought about it this time either but I’ve heard good things from friends who have done them.
@Daffodil21 Glad your scan was all ok! My first also had long legs and still does to this day! She is on the 95th centile for her height and at 2 years and 8 months she is already filling 3-4 years trousers! Our current bean is also 2 weeks ahead with her legs so we may have tall girls!

I loved seeing some bump photos! I’ll attach mine too (I’m 25+2) I am carrying bigger with this one - really hoping for a bigger baby than my last tiddler!!

Aug 2021 - half way there!
Ready2020 · 24/04/2021 22:07

@PurplePansy05 no wonder you're pooped! I walked half that yesterday and had to lie down when I got home as I felt dizzy! My hips /pelvis are starting to get sore if I walk too far as well 🙄

I had a nice day with my pregnancy yoga in the morning then off to have lunch with my mum in Dunbar then home to a bake away dinner from a local restaurant. In bed reading for a bit now.

Tomorrow is making some sea glass jewellery for the local market next weekend. Hopefully a day to my own hobbies that I'll not get for a long while after August.

Angelesque · 25/04/2021 09:07

Hi all!

After my intro post I disappeared for a month... 20 week scan was alarming in terms of concerns about growth (told baby coming in at 8th centile... my first baby was on the 90th Sad) so we’ve had lots of additional scans and a great session with a consultant. Short update is baby is now on the 70th centile (!!!!) and uterine flow, quality of placenta is all great, so much, much happier. Though the leap from 8th to 70th centile means I’m now booked in for a GTT in a few weeks 🤢 - any words of caution/any ways to make this less grim?!

Daffodil21 · 25/04/2021 09:10

@Jessicapebbles lovely bump pic! Did your daughter fit in newborn baby grows? The fist thing my husband said was that we better not buy anymore 😂

@Angelesque sorry to hear you've had a bit of a time of it, but glad things are looking much better now. What is GTT?!

Jessicapebbles · 25/04/2021 09:14

@Daffodil21 Darcy was premature so although long legs she was teeny and born at 5lb so Tiny baby clothes were too big for her! It didn’t affect her in clothing sizes until we got to 3-6 months when we really noticed she outgrew the length so quickly! X

GTT = glucose tolerance test... heard it makes you feel very/be sick ☹️

biscuitcat · 25/04/2021 10:10

@PurplePansy05 we very nearly went for the same car seat as you (definitely found it was easier to get into the base, the Cybex needed a bit of a knack!), but the shop we bought from had a very good offer on with the combination we went for which made the decision easier! You're so right that I did want a new one - it was one of the things I was very exited about shopping for! Had our second hand one been in better nick I'd have been good, but the collapse was so so stiff that it made the decision much easier, it would have been a nightmare day to day.

Sounds like you had a heavenly day - it's amazing how wonderful it is seeing people isn't it?

@Ready2020 that sounds lovely - I'd love to see some of your jewellery if you'd be happy to share?

@Angelesque sorry to hear you've had a time of it, that sounds really stressful. I've got a GTT booked in for May, so if it's before yours I will report back. My plan is to take my work computer along with me so I can be productive in the wait between blood tests! From what I've heard, it's not necessarily the most fun, but doesn't last for too long and will give important information, so worth doing (what we do for these babies!) xx

lucyrp · 25/04/2021 10:20

Interesting a few of you have got GTT when I went to the doctor for bloods because of feeling dizzy etc around 12 weeks they said they don't do them much anymore! So they didn't do one for me !

Daffodil21 · 25/04/2021 10:21

@Jessicapebbles oh bless her, so little

@Angelesque oh I see. I really should have known that as I have one on 21st May - is that before or after yours? Like @biscuitcat I'll report back if it's before yours. I hadn't heard it makes you sick, but I haven't really looked into it tbh!

alittlexmasmagic · 25/04/2021 10:28

I've had the GTT with the drink and am booked in for a GTT at the end of May although this will be just a blood test type one.
The drinks not bad but they've stopped doing them in my trust because of Covid. I was a bit gutted because last time I took my pillow and had a nice doze in the car... legitimately on work time 😂 x

Daffodil21 · 25/04/2021 10:38

@lucyrp the consultant offered it to me when we had that appointment where they told me they messed up and I should have been consultant led all this time. She just threw scans and tests at me and I took them all! Covid hasn't affected maternity things here really at all, we are incredibly lucky. Shame it's not like that for everyone

Angelesque · 25/04/2021 10:45

Thanks ladies! Mine’s in for 21 May, so similar timing to those of you having it. Yes, heard some hospital trusts didn’t do them anymore... sadly, mine’s not one of them 🤣

Daffodil21 · 25/04/2021 10:50

@Angelesque yours is the same day as mine Smile is yours an early one or do you have to wait? Mind's at 8:30 which I'm glad about!

LaceyMermaid · 25/04/2021 10:53

@Angelesque I had one in my last pregnancy and it’s fine. Tastes sugaryish but you just down it and it’s fine.
@lucyrp my trust said they weren’t doing the drink just a fasting blood test due to covid, although don’t know if that’s changed now. Got mine at the end of may so I’ll fine out I suppose! Sitting round in a room for two hours in between blood tests was a bit boring and they wouldn’t let you leave in between in case you got dizzy so hoping I don’t have to do that again!
Interesting so many of you have 25 week midwife appts I don’t have one until 28 and only seen her once at 16 weeks and that was for 2 mins she couldn’t wait to get rid of me even though I was bleeding at the time!
